Shingo Ichinomiya è un ragazzo di 25 anni che lavora in un'azienda, e mentre pensa alla prossima giornata lavorativa si addormenta. Tuttavia, quando si risveglia, si ritrova in una stanza a lui sconosciuta e si rende conto di trovarsi in un corpo da bambino di 6 anni! Presto impara dai ricordi del ragazzino che egli è nato come il figlio più giovane di una famiglia nobile caduta in disgrazia che vive in un paese arretrato e non avendo capacità amministrative, non può fare nulla per gestire la vasta terra della sua famiglia. Fortunatamente, è benedetto con un talento molto raro, ovvero quello della magia, ma sfortunatamente nella situazione in cui si ritrova questa abilità più che altro un sacco di guai! Questa è la storia di Wendelin Von Benno Baumeister.
Serializzato fra il 2013 e il 2017 sul sito Shousetsuka ni Narou, il romanzo viene pubblicato da Kadokawa in formato fisico dal 2014, completo di illustrazioni realizzate da Choko Fuji (R.O.D Rehabilitation). Il 25 luglio 2019 ne uscirà in Giappone il 17° volume.
Dal 2015, invece, Hiroki Kusumoto ne sta portando avanti una versione manga pubblicata su Comic Walker e giunta, ad ora, al 6° volume.

Hachinantte Sore wa Nai Deshou! TV Anime Announces Its 2020 Premiere in Japan
Following the initial announcement back in December 2018, a teaser site and Twitter for the forthcoming TV anime adaptation of Y.A's fantasy light novel series Hachinantte Sore wa Nai Deshou! (The Eighth Son? That Can't Be Right!) officially opened and announced that it is set to premiere in Japan in 2020 with a teaser PV below.

    The novel was originally serialized on the user-generated novel publishing website Shousetsuka ni Narou
for 163 chapters KADOKAWA and Frontier Works' MF Books started its print edition with illustrations by
Fujichoco in April 2014, and its latest 16th volume is set to be released on March 25, 2019. Its manga
adaptation illustrated by Hiroki Kusumoto has been serialized in KADOKAWA's web comic site Comic Walker
since April 2015, and so far six tankobon volumes have been available. A total printr un of the series in 
Japan have surpassed 1.6 million copies.
  The story follows Shingo Ichinomiya, a 25 year old employee with a trading company, who wakes up one
morning in a different world with the body and memories of Wendelin von Benno Baumeister, the 5 year old,
magically-gifted eighth son of a poor noble family that owns huge tracts of land in the frontier. In these
strange new circumstances, Shingo / Wendelin decides to use his magical talents to make a living as an
adventurer.

Light Novel Series "Hachinan-tte, Sore wa Nai Deshou!" Gets Anime Adaptation
  Hachinan-tte, Sore wa Nai Deshou! ("The Eight Son, That Can't be Right!") - a fantasy light novels series written by Y.A and illustrated by Choco Fuzi about an ordinary salaryman who finds himself in the body of a 5 year magical prodigy from an impoverished noble family - is getting an anime adaptation. So far, no further details about the production (such as the cast, crew, format, or release date) have yet been revealed.
    The original Hachinan-tte, Sore wa Nai Deshou! novel series is published in Japan by Media Factory (a division of Kadokawa), and Media Factory also publishes a manga adaptation with artwork by Hiroki Kusumoto. The story follows Shingo Ichinomiya, a 25 year old employee with a trading company, who wakes up one morning in a different world with the body and memories of Wendelin von Benno Baumeister, the 5 year old, magically-gifted eighth son of a poor noble family that owns huge tracts of land in the frontier.
