Ok, I know you've said you would be totally ok with sc not being endgame and that you do believe the relationship between Kara and Lena can be read as platonic on the show. Do you feel the same about Lena's feelings though? I would never want them to do an unrequited love arc, especially for the final season but sometimes with Lena's beahviour is hard to believe she is not at least a little bit in love with Kara and is not only platonic love. She's not like that with others
Good question! (I’m also not a fan of the unrequited love idea in this context.)
I could probably see it more with S2 Lena as she was originally introduced? She was basically isolated from everyone except Kara and Lilian, and we had no frame of reference other than those two relationships.
Four seasons later we now have a clearer idea of how, when she loves someone, Lena loves with her whole heart. And if the person is in trouble and she has the ability to help them, there’s literally nothing she won’t do to help.
When she thought she could still help Lex she dragged Andrea deep into the jungle to chase this fuzzy idea of the Acrata medal on the off chance her mom wasn’t just spinning fairy tales and this magical item could save him. This brother who abused and manipulated her since she came to live with the Luthors ... and she still loved him.
When Sam was having blackouts and couldn’t understand what was happening to her, Lena dropped everything and dedicated every hour, night and day, to figuring out what was wrong and finding a way to help her. She did ‘little’ things like pick up Ruby from the skating rink and stash her in the Luthor mansion, and big things like risk her life with Reign and keep everything a secret from everyone, including James.
I see the way she loves and tries to help Kara as part of this pattern of just going all out anytime someone she loves - familial, platonic, romantic love - is in trouble. But I also see where others are coming from, and how the show sometimes frames things, and think that reading works too. :)
