Sophie's Telepathy throughout her younger years makes it legitimately fascinating how she might relate to others.
For one, there's the possibility that she'd be scarily observant - after all, she could have learned how to connect thoughts with facial expressions, with tones of voice and slight movements. It's so natural to her that she's eerily good at guessing what someone's thinking without reading their mind.
Or she could have learned to rely too much on Telepathy. Maybe she can't interpret others' expressions at all; she relied too much on her Telepathy. She never needed to think about whether that look on someone's face meant they were worried when their mind was shouting exactly why they were at her, so she has no idea what she's doing. Sophie goes from complete understanding of what's on someone's mind to having no clue in an instant.
Also, I think trust would be incredibly weird for her. Of course she isn't going to believe people when they, say, compliment her - she grew up seeing all the ways what people thought was different what they meant! Sophie knew what everyone around her really thought and observed the disparities between that and their actions, took note of every lie (harmless and otherwise) and came to the conclusion that each interaction is laden with deceit and double meaning.
