watching some actor try to be dramatic and compelling and thinking to myself you are not zhu zanjin and you never will be
#in all honestly even if the plot and characters and romance didn't make me lose my mind#I would have still really enjoyed the show because he was SO good he was utterly perfect#he brought the exact energy he needed#he MADE that character. like he was fine in the novel but zzj breathed so much life into him#as did wzc with jc and xl with jyl and wyb with lwj and lhk with lxc#and the entire yi city cast!!! everyone did such an incredible job#wwx was probably the best novel character and zx brought a softness and a naivite and a sincere kindness to him#that I don't think was in the book#the ONE character that was better in the book was jl imo but his actor did a fine job too#cql txp
