Soap hates when he gets really angry, and i mean really angry. He always felt like anger was an ugly emotion, one that brought out the worst in people, and he knows there's no exception for what it does to himself.

When he really feels rage, it's almost hopeless for him to focus on anything else. All he knows in those moments is the way his mind feels like it's boiling and the itching need to release all the pent up energy in a blind rampage.

Nothing really seems to calm him down when he's gotten to that level either, but he has promised himself to never let that anger out around others. So, he holds it in as best as he can until he gets a moment alone, typically in his room. Then, the chaos is let loose.

There's nothing that is left in his mind when the frustration has grown so much it takes over, only a loop of who's to blame, what's gone wrong, different ideas of what he could be channeling his anger at. He has a physical need to get it all out. He pushes all the items off of his desk, letting them crash and fall miserably around his room. He rips up his own personal items, pictures he may have saved recently, pages from his journal, anything that he can get his hands on.

When the chaos finally settles, his anger turns to shame. His frustration only gets turned back on itself. He fights off tears as he picks up and repairs the mess he's made, guilty that he let himself cause so much destruction. He tries to sob as quietly as he can when he fails to fight them off, too ashamed to let anyone know what has happened. He mourns the drawings and pages he's destroyed, not understanding why he would ever want to ruin them.

One thing that I found interesting about mag 81 is how quickly Jon got to grasp with the whole fears thing, cause I'm still confused, I'm like wdym there are fear entities?? What do they do?? I'm guessing they go round making people scared of things, like Michael crew did with that poor guy who was scared of ladders but the only reason I know that Michael here is an avatar is because I'm on Tumblr. So like an I meant to make those connections right now or still be confused?? What do you mean claim??

I guess Jon knew more about what was going on that he let on, which is interesting because his fear overrode his ability to do anything about it, even though he fully knew the paranormal exists he tried to ignore it to keep himself safe, he knew there were bigger things at play but he still waited far too long to before actually connecting the dots. Or the other option is that he didn't know what was going on but has A Lot of time to think and has connected the dots really quickly, which is sad in another way cause he was so desperate to make up for his mistakes that he's accepting what he can as fast as possible but it's not gonna bring Sasha back or unkill leitner or fix his friendship with Tim. So he's sitting in his ex gfs house and speed running his way through figuring out what's going on and beating himself up and apparently also cleaning kitchens.

its really weird trying to bear witness to your own growth. is it possible to feel pride without the fear of arrogance? joy without the fear of naiveté?

the truth is that you're not ugly, you were just never meant to be subjected to the never-ending slue of models, celebrities, and disproportionately pretty faces the internet edits into perfection then throws at you all day, every single day. your sense of what an "average" human face looks like has become twisted. we were meant to see the faces in our community, the normal, everyday people around us—not the overwhelming crush of beauty and makeup and ideals that are shoved at us from all around these days. you're not ugly just because you're not disproportionately, unnaturally, falsely beautiful. having flaws is a good thing. it's a natural part of being human. the truth is that you do not add any less to the world just because you don't look the way you think you should.

ok alphys was a character ahead of her time and too good for this damn fandom honestly. she isn't some evil gaslighting lying cringey manipulator who only exists as comic relief for the love of god look at her with eyes less poisoned by cynicism and irony. she is a love letter to... well, a lot of things. a love letter to "cringey" people, to video game fans, to people who try to drown their sadness in fiction. she's so achingly relatable to so many of us that it really feels like toby knows his demographic like the back of his hand. we've all met someone like alphys. maybe we are that someone- awkward, nerdy, can't get over their past mistakes, terrible at phone calls, far more eloquent online than in person, only wants to make people like them to distract them from the fact that they don't like themself. normally, this character archetype is the butt of a great deal of jokes- just a gross nerd who needs to touch grass. but alphys is different. she is, as i said, a love letter. she is one of the best-developed and most complex characters in the game. her nerdiness isn't "fixed" or mocked, it's celebrated. her unabashed love for her interests and her 100% attitude is a big reason why undyne loves her. games, especially in 2015 and before, are not often so genuinely kind to characters like alphys! and in deltarune, too- alphys is still a nerd, despite not being nearly as traumatized as her undertale counterpart. her rambling about shows she loves is a constant across all universes, a fundamental and important and good part of who she is.

and i just think that's very kind, and very important.

when you are raised without love you must go through the horrible ordeal of meeting it for the first time. this will hurt and be too intoxicating for the first few people to want to be around you and by then the wound will smart again. like eyes in the wind
