"Why were these the only dances you knew?"
"Because no one would dance with me. Thieves are never popular. ... My mother taught me. We danced them on the rooftops of the Megaron."
Queen Thief dances safely on the roof with her husband, son, and god, for @cartograffiti and @hoeratius as part of @hamiathesgiftexchange
also here! (quote from The King of Attolia, what a scene)

Rating: Teen Relationship: Kamet/Costis Ormentiedes Archive Warnings: None Additional Tags: Huddling for warmth, missing scene, winter, implied sexual content 2355 Words
Summary: Kamet has known winters before, but winter in Roa brings something new.
Creators are finally revealed for the Hamiathes's Gift Exchange! This one is mine, which should probably surprise no one who is familiar with my favorite tropes and has looked at the tags, haha. Summary: After Eugenides dies in battle at the Pricas Spring, the queen of Attolia marries her ambassador from the Mede Empire, and a great many things are different.
Characters: Costis, Kamet, Irene
Notes: Authors were revealed for @hamiathesgiftexchange 2022 last night, so I can post my stories here! As you can see, I wrote some scenes from an AU where Irene marries Nahuseresh. The story opens with the young guard Costis Ormentiedes reacting to his queen's engagement and wedding, and then moves on to a longer scene where Kamet, the king of Attolia's secretary, finds himself cornered by the queen in the palace gardens.
Thanks to my wonderful beta readers, @elwing and @wizardysseus!

Works are live!
Stories and art are revealed! We had a record-breaking 133 works, which really unbelievable.
You can read and view them here.
Stop by, enjoy, and don't forget to leave feedback.
If you have a fanwork in the tag, remember to update the publish date so you don’t appear behind already-published works! I’ll be leaving the collection open for last-minute treats until creator reveals in case anyone wants to get one in before reveals!
If you signed up for the exchange, you should be getting an email with a link to your gift. You can also find it by opening your AO3 page and following the Gifts link in the left-hand navigation pane on the left. Please remember to show your author or artist lots of appreciation! Fanworks will remain anonymous until Saturday, September 23. However, if you'd like to reply to comments on the stories or art you posted, you can go ahead--your name will be hidden until then.

Summary: Irene tells Helen a bedtime story
My offering for @storieswelove for the @hamiathesgiftexchange!
Helen picks up her own tea and says, “What stories did you like when you were young?”
Irene shrugs inelegantly. “I didn’t get a lot of bedtime stories,” she says.
“But you had some,” Helen says.
Irene inclines her head in agreement.
“Any you remember?” Helen asks.
Irene blows on her tea again to give herself time to think.
“There was one…” she admits.
Helen doesn’t prompt her, just waits, and Irene begins to speak.

I stood there thinking of the Namreen hunting me and the rewards they would post. Or maybe they’d found my master’s plaque next to the slave dead under the rockslide and no one was looking for me at all." — Thick as Thieves, chapter 10
This work was a gift fot @kareenvorbarra and @artino-c for the @hamiathesgiftexchange!
After reading @kareenvorbarra's What We Are Allowed, I have been thinking a lot about how Laela must have felt when she heard Kamet was supposed to have died in a rockslide...
The bracelet is the one Kamet buys for her on chapter 1 of Thick as Thieves; the design is based on the description on the fic mentioned above.

now that authors have been revealed for all the fics in Hamiathes Gift Exchange, I can plug the ones I wrote! i had a lot of fun and i think writing things for other people made me write with more variety than i usually do!
so you better be sure (if you're making god a liar) — this is the big chonk, even though it’s one chapter it’s the longest fic i’ve ever yet written (9,791 words)! it’s a canon divergent fic of if the Minister of War had gotten his way and Gen wasn’t raised as the Thief, covering Gen’s birth through Queen of Attolia. Gen/Irene ship, plenty of angsty Gen & MoW content
(psst if you like it subscribe, because i might add a chapter with some more scenes that were in my outline but got cut because i decided i could end it earlier)
Dressed Like a Goddess — 2,441 word Irene/Helen modern AU centering around Helen’s clothing shop, very simple/not much plot
Helen's Life in Five Fights — 1,185 word fic made up of five scenes in which Helen practices with a sword. most of them are (bitter)sweet moments with her family, ending with some fluffy Helen/Sophos
also you should check out the works that were gifted to me because i was SPOILED with wonderful fics and a beautiful fan art!

@lady-feste-pendragon and I wanted to write @sophosthewisebunny a nice story about cow cuddling therapy for the Hamiathes's Gift Exchange '23, so we put our heads together, and 7 weeks later we emerged from our fugue state with 40,000 words of fic, a cookbook, and deleted scenes, as well as this graphic I made. Truly, what else is fandom for? Costis/Kamet, rated T.

"If the Eddisians want to dethrone Helen, they know it will be over my father's dead body. … If my father says his niece is queen, then she is queen."
Three drawings of Helen and Hector: sparring in her childhood, in the throne room at the beginning of her reign, and laying out a battle plan together in Return of the Thief. I love them.
for @wavewright62, my match in @hamiathesgiftexchange! Thanks for the great prompts. Click here for some feelings about Hephestia and the Sky and to check out other works in the exchange.
