@Inktober day 23: Ancient . I couldn’t think of anything more ancient and fascinating than “the Sorcerer” known in French as “le Chamane Dançant” [the dancing shaman]. It was found in a cavern known as “the Sanctuary” at the Cave of the Trois-Frères in the South of France and thought to have been made in 13000 BC. . Some believe it’s supposed to be a Master of Animals or a Great Spirits. Though the most famous interpretation is that it’s depicting a dancing shaman or sorcerer in some sort of hunting ritual. In any case, it’s one of the rarest depictions of a human-like for in the Paleolithic, and parts of it look like modern anatomical charts in a naif painting. . I wish I could be as talented as the person who made this long long ago... for now, my interpretation of his craft must do. .
