2022-present I didn't change, but not really. Sorting my shit out still, going after lowest of low barrier to entry positions (laborer, janitor, stadium, delivery cyclist) instead of stress inducing interview after interview.

I'm conscious of how i sound to others, namely my verbal rants and frequent meltdowns (a conmon thing with autistic ppl I've heard!) and am learning to manage my thoughts and behavior.

Our annual winter holiday caroling party was tonight and we had a small group who braved the storm to bring holiday cheer to our neighbors. Larisa and her boyfriend, Gavin, Robyn and Joe, Theresa, Bay, and I had a wonderful time singing together and with some of the neighbors who sang with us while we stood on their front porches. Alexi and his girlfriend, Lena, and Jim, Alexi's dad, behind me, didn't go caroling, they just happened to be standing in the foyer when we took the picture.

Most of our friends who attended the party have done so for many years. In fact, we have been hosting this party for more than 35 years, first at our house on 15th Street and for 24 years at our current house. Theresa's daughter, Annie, standing behind me and to my right, started caroling with us when she was just a little girl.

Brent and Lori Canova, at left in the picture above, attended the party for the first time and we hope it won't be the last. Lori is an AMAZING person who has been through a lot in the last year. She had emergency surgery to remove a cancerous tumor on her spine which left her paralyzed from the waist down. She walked into our house tonight using a cane! She has been doing therapy for the last year and her progress has been miraculous. Maybe next year she and Brent will be out caroling with us! While Lori was recovering from the surgery in the hospital their house burned down in the Marshall Fire. Brent and their son, David, got out as much as they could but they really didn't have time so they basically lost everything. They are in the process of rebuilding their house. Our cousin Debbie and her husband, Bob, also lost their house in the Marshall Fire so they had a lot to talk about with Lori and Brent.

This is the first year we changed catering companies from A Spice of Life to Greenspoint, because the person who has been our contact for more than twenty years, Dawn, changed jobs this year and is now happily working for Greenspoint. The food was DELICIOUS, and we had a lot of vegetarian and vegan dishes, which people really enjoyed. The service was impeccable, and the Greenspoint team cleaned up the kitchen so I didn't have too much to do and I was able to get to bed before midnight. I do believe we'll continue with Greenspoint for all our catering now.
