Harpy 1: 51 damage taken, 25 killing blow by Fjord
Harpy 2: 66 damage taken, 26 killing blow by Jester
Harpy 3: 65 damage taken, 20 killing blow by Yasha
Harpy 4: 49 damage taken, 13 killing blow by Beauregard
Harpy 5: 51 damage taken, 25 killing blow by Fjord
This is the third time we’ve seen harpies on Critical Role. The first time, Vox Machina avoided tangling with them on the cliffs outside of Whitestone, opting to leave their tied up horses as the harpies’ dinner rather than facing off against them. The second time, The Mighty Nein faced harpies out at sea, destroying them before they could make off with any of their ship’s crew.
This third time, The Mighty Nein wandered into the harpies’ clearing when Caduceus’ attempt to direct the party’s horses in the right direction didn’t quite keep to the path. Mechanically speaking, Matt rolled a consequence die when their skill challenge roll didn’t meet his DC (in this case, Caduceus’s 19 failing a DC of 20 or higher). After a record of five consecutive episodes without an enemy death and failing to convince the matron to take a horse as an offering, two rounds of harpy bloodshed were just what the DM ordered.
