Watcher fans sure are entitled and a little insane, ngl. "No one is going to sign up for your service! We're all poor! You've made the worst decision, and you'll be back in no time!" Saying this directly to the creators really reminds you of how low the respect for people you don't personally know has gone. I miss the forth wall between creator and audience.
I get and fully understand not having the money to support them, but... Watcher does have fans with money. A lot of them actually. They have merch sales. Their live tour sells out most venues. They have thousands of supporters on Patreon, where the cheapest tier is $5. They're able to gauge the rough finances of their staunchest supporters; that's how they landed on the subscription price. Yes, this move will reduce their viewership in sheer numbers, but to say all of their fans are broke and none will follow/support is factually incorrect.
It may not be a decision everyone agrees with, but severing the limitations of advertisers and youtube in favor of artistic freedom is a good thing. Yes, even if it comes with a loss of revenue. They understand that risk.
Also, I'm begging people to stop treating this like "another Netflix" or something and instead look at it as, "I am supporting a creator I like, similar to Patreon." They literally said in the video that they don't care if you share accounts. Get five friends, and you'll pay $1/mo.
I hate feeling compelled to rant in favor of their decision because I have my own reservations about whether it's the best move. However, I know it's not a choice they made lightly, and I like to think they understand that they'll need to branch out like crazy to entice subscribers.

I got into a 4 hour research hole earlier bc we're planning to experiment with body casting so my partner's Limited Edition Tits can be immortalised before their top surgery. which is a fun project! but anyway I was doing materials research and I feel like I'm being actively bullied by the fact that every time I put a pigment or paint query into Google I somehow keep getting Stuart Semple products as the first results.
some of you may recall that this does not suit me.
but also they must be putting a LOT of work/budget/keyword research into ads bc. I was searching for Actual Brand Name Products or Very Specific Technical Specs and getting Stuart Semple's colourshift pigments. Stuart Semple's metallic coatings. Stuart Semple's black spray paint like GOOGLE I'M LOOKING FOR A CHEAP BASECOAT NOT A £20 MID BLACK MEME PAINT.

Elevating Your Digital Marketing with Expert PPC Campaign Management Services
In the ever-evolving landscape of digital marketing, the power of Pay-Per-Click (PPC) advertising shines brightly as a beacon for businesses aiming to enhance their online visibility and drive more targeted traffic to their websites. This form of advertising, where businesses pay a fee each time one of their ads is clicked, presents a golden opportunity to appear in front of potential customers precisely when they're searching for related services or products. However, the true essence of a successful PPC campaign lies not just in its execution but in its strategic management. This is where PPC campaign management services step in, bridging the gap between potential and success.
The Importance of PPC in Digital Marketing
Tumblr media
PPC advertising is more than just an advertising channel; it's a strategic tool that offers immediacy and precision in reaching target audiences. Unlike traditional SEO strategies that take time to yield results, PPC campaigns can generate immediate traffic and offer quick insights into market behavior. However, navigating the complexities of PPC campaigns requires a blend of strategic insight, analytical skills, and ongoing optimization, underscoring the significance of PPC campaign management services. These services ensure that every dollar you spend is an investment toward achieving your business objectives, making efficiency and effectiveness the hallmarks of your digital marketing efforts.
Choosing the Right PPC Campaign Management Service
The marketplace is teeming with agencies and firms offering PPC campaign management services, but choosing the right partner is pivotal. A proficient service provider understands the nuances of different PPC platforms, whether Google Ads, Bing Ads, or social media advertising platforms like Facebook and LinkedIn. They bring to the table a deep understanding of keyword research, ad copywriting, bid management, and conversion optimization, ensuring your campaigns are not just seen but also resonate with your target audience. The right service will work as an extension of your marketing team, fully aligned with your business's goals and values.
Key Components of Effective PPC Campaign Management
Effective PPC campaign management services delve into the heart of your business objectives, tailoring campaigns that speak directly to your target audience. They start with comprehensive keyword research, identifying the terms and phrases your customers are using to search for your products or services. This step is critical in ensuring your ads appear for the right searches.
Ad copy optimization is another crucial component, where the focus is on creating compelling ad texts that attract clicks. This involves A/B testing different headlines, descriptions, and calls to action to determine what works best.
Bid management is about finding the sweet spot where you're paying enough to get your ads seen but not overpaying for clicks. Expert PPC campaign management services use sophisticated algorithms and historical data to adjust bids in real time, maximizing your return on investment.
Lastly, conversion tracking and analytics are what turn data into insights. By understanding which ads, keywords, and landing pages are driving conversions, PPC managers can continually refine and optimize campaigns for better performance.
The Benefits of Leveraging PPC Campaign Management Services
The complexities of PPC management can be daunting, especially for businesses with limited digital marketing resources. By partnering with a specialized service, you gain access to expertise and technologies that can transform your PPC campaigns from an expense into a strategic investment. These services can significantly reduce wasted spend by targeting only the most relevant audiences and optimizing your campaigns for conversions, not just clicks.
Moreover, PPC campaign management services stay abreast of the latest trends, platform updates, and best practices, ensuring your campaigns leverage cutting-edge strategies. This proactive approach to campaign management can be the difference between staying ahead of the competition and playing catch-up.
Success Stories: PPC Campaign Transformations
Real-world success stories underscore the transformative power of expert PPC campaign management services. Businesses across various industries, from e-commerce to B2B services, have seen significant improvements in their campaign performance, achieving higher conversion rates, lower cost per acquisition, and improved ROI. These success stories not only serve as testimonials to the efficacy of professional PPC management but also offer insights and inspiration for businesses still on the fence about investing in these services.
How to Get Started with a PPC Management Service
Embarking on the journey with a PPC campaign management service begins with a comprehensive audit of your current digital marketing efforts and identifying your specific goals. This initial assessment helps tailor a strategy that aligns with your business objectives. From there, setting up and launching your campaigns is handled by experts, allowing you to focus on your business while your digital marketing works harder for you.
Conclusion
In the digital age, where visibility and engagement are the currencies of success, PPC campaign management services offer a strategic advantage. They enable businesses to navigate the complexities of PPC advertising, ensuring that every campaign is not just a shot in the dark but a calculated step towards achieving marketing objectives.

ever wonder why spotify/discord/teams desktop apps kind of suck?
i don't do a lot of long form posts but. I realized that so many people aren't aware that a lot of the enshittification of using computers in the past decade or so has a lot to do with embedded webapps becoming so frequently used instead of creating native programs. and boy do i have some thoughts about this.
for those who are not blessed/cursed with computers knowledge Basically most (graphical) programs used to be native programs (ever since we started widely using a graphical interface instead of just a text-based terminal). these are apps that feel like when you open up the settings on your computer, and one of the factors that make windows and mac programs look different (bc they use a different design language!) this was the standard for a long long time - your emails were served to you in a special email application like thunderbird or outlook, your documents were processed in something like microsoft word (again. On your own computer!). same goes for calendars, calculators, spreadsheets, and a whole bunch more - crucially, your computer didn't depend on the internet to do basic things, but being connected to the web was very much an appreciated luxury!
that leads us to the eventual rise of webapps that we are all so painfully familiar with today - gmail dot com/outlook, google docs, google/microsoft calendar, and so on. as html/css/js technology grew beyond just displaying text images and such, it became clear that it could be a lot more convenient to just run programs on some server somewhere, and serve the front end on a web interface for anyone to use. this is really very convenient!!!! it Also means a huge concentration of power (notice how suddenly google is one company providing you the SERVICE) - you're renting instead of owning. which means google is your landlord - the services you use every day are first and foremost means of hitting the year over year profit quota. its a pretty sweet deal to have a free email account in exchange for ads! email accounts used to be paid (simply because the provider had to store your emails somewhere. which takes up storage space which is physical hard drives), but now the standard as of hotmail/yahoo/gmail is to just provide a free service and shove ads in as much as you need to.
webapps can do a lot of things, but they didn't immediately replace software like skype or code editors or music players - software that requires more heavy system interaction or snappy audio/visual responses. in 2013, the electron framework came out - a way of packaging up a bundle of html/css/js into a neat little crossplatform application that could be downloaded and run like any other native application. there were significant upsides to this - web developers could suddenly use their webapp skills to build desktop applications that ran on any computer as long as it could support chrome*! the first applications to be built on electron were the late code editor atom (rest in peace), but soon a whole lot of companies took note! some notable contemporary applications that use electron, or a similar webapp-embedded-in-a-little-chrome as a base are:
microsoft teams
notion
vscode
discord
spotify
anyone! who has paid even a little bit of attention to their computer - especially when using older/budget computers - know just how much having chrome open can slow down your computer (firefox as well to a lesser extent. because its just built better <3)
whenever you have one of these programs open on your computer, it's running in a one-tab chrome browser. there is a whole extra chrome open just to run your discord. if you have discord, spotify, and notion open all at once, along with chrome itself, that's four chromes. needless to say, this uses a LOT of resources to deliver applications that are often much less polished and less integrated with the rest of the operating system. it also means that if you have no internet connection, sometimes the apps straight up do not work, since much of them rely heavily on being connected to their servers, where the heavy lifting is done.
taking this idea to the very furthest is the concept of chromebooks - dinky little laptops that were created to only run a web browser and webapps - simply a vessel to access the google dot com mothership. they have gotten better at running offline android/linux applications, but often the $200 chromebooks that are bought in bulk have almost no processing power of their own - why would you even need it? you have everything you could possibly need in the warm embrace of google!
all in all the average person in the modern age, using computers in the mainstream way, owns very little of their means of computing.
i started this post as a rant about the electron/webapp framework because i think that it sucks and it displaces proper programs. and now ive swiveled into getting pissed off at software services which is in honestly the core issue. and i think things can be better!!!!!!!!!!! but to think about better computing culture one has to imagine living outside of capitalism.
i'm not the one to try to explain permacomputing specifically because there's already wonderful literature ^ but if anything here interested you, read this!!!!!!!!!! there is a beautiful world where computers live for decades and do less but do it well. and you just own it. come frolic with me Okay ? :]
*when i say chrome i technically mean chromium. but functionally it's same thing

You can complain about the crassness of 80s advert-toons, but what came before wasn't good just because it didn't have a toy company paying the bills.
In fact, that was part of the problem.
(splitting this into its own post)
Pre-80s, your biggest player in TV animation was Hanna Barbera. Post-Cartoon Network kids won't remember, but before they had a network to fill, HB made low-cost dreck exclusively. Race-to-the-bottom, cheap-as-possible, formula driven dreck.
Tumblr media
Some of it was dreck with potential and staying power, because you had guys like Alex Toth trying their best to make good stuff despite being given the budget of a Viewmaster disk.
Kidvid in the 80s was the first time, en-masse, someone cared about the quality of kids' entertainment on TV. Not kids' edutainment, PBS existed for awhile, but actual get down and have fun kidvid. Prior to that you had the distressing puppet shows from Sid and Marty Kroft and everything else was 'what will the kids care?' low-end channel filler.
Tumblr media
(Channel filler that was, by the way, still selling toys and candy. Just not themed after what the kids were watching)
Then in the 80s, suddenly a lot of people care about the quality of the show. They care because the show is a very expensive ad campaign, but suddenly the avenue to maximized profits drove through a show that was actually engaging and entertaining to kids.
Tumblr media
At the same time, your animation industry was flush with new money and a desire to not see that snatched away by another 1960s parent panic that killed the Sugar Bear cartoon. So the studios did everything they could to not make the shows the advertisements they were assumed to be. The goal of elevating the project to avoid feeling like an ad-writer also slipped in. You get stuff like Real Ghostbusters, Spiral Zone, Bravestarr, some very impressively animated and written shows...
And before that, remember, was Jabberjaw, Huckleberry Hound, and fucking Clutch Cargo.
Tumblr media
Yes, that is a pair of human lips projected onto a blank face because they couldn't afford animation.
And everything that wasn't a toy-toon had to have a bigger budget to compete. You don't get Thundarr the Barbarian until HB has He-Man breathing down its neck. There is no Le Mondes Engloitis if they don't have the merch wave washing over France. The Disney Afternoon was only what it was because it was trying to contrast itself from the figure aisle.
There is no BTAS or Gargoyles without the action figures.
New Google makes searching for the quote basically impossible, but one of the leads on G.I.Joe has a quote along the lines of: the fantasy of G.I.Joe was not a war fantasy. The fantasy of G.I.Joe was the idea that when you get in trouble, you have a large group of friends who will be there to help you through it.
And one last dirty little secret. Before they could make cartoons based on toys the toy market was still driven by licensed stuff, it was just stuff based on live action properties:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The 80s are seen as this time in which kids were deeply exploited, and all the money made in the kidvid and toy industries is seen as the evidence of that. The idea that the boom happened, even in part, because kids were actually getting media and toys they wanted never occurs to them.
And what did youtube make into the face of kid's entertainment?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
If the YT kidverse had to deal with the regulations and rules of 1980s advertising cartoons none of that would have happened.
No one wants what these guys are selling.
