So @glitterdragonthegreatprotector and one of their friends came up with a God of Decay for one of their AUs ; and since I already made a Time God for fun and didn't really have anything planned for Halloween I offered to design it, so here goes.
- Warning Body Horror -
(Basically that dude is the embodiment of the "Tell me the name of God you fungal piece of shit" infamous post. As the mushroom, that is)
Bonus because I can hardly be serious about it : they mentioned Decay has been existing since Time was just born, so guess what I did
That guy was quite literally born old
~
Anyway hope you like my design even if I couldn't be bothered to color it 🙃
I believe in giving light to Sunwait whenever freedom of time and energy allows. For me, that is usually Fridays or Saturdays, not Thursdays. Though I *may* make exception for the Solstice itself this year. We’ll see.
I do love the drifting chant of both Rúnahild lilting softly in the background of this scene, as well as the errant sounds of my neighbour playing jazz bass through the ceiling rafters. It makes the whole ritual that much more uncanny. 🕯️
Rot and decay exist in every world. But their time isn't up yet.
He reacts the same to each. He watches everyone fondly, live and die. When they die, he decays their body, to be used by fresh new life.
He likes humans a bit more, since they don't always fight his decay. But that's all he does when it comes to playing favorites.
The god of rot is like the grandpa you didn't know you had. Watching from a distance, as you learn and grow. Till you're finally old enough to meet him. Or re-meet him in his case, since he knew you in another life.
He watches from a distance, waiting for everyone to grow up, and return to him. Till the ends of days, when he needs to make their world start anew. Thankfully, it won't happen soon...
"...I know I ask you that each time I meet you, but I can't help wondering if you're genuinely not feeling any pain. ...It's true that... you do look..."
"..."
"...Anyway... I..."⌛
"Oh Time.... my dear..."
He pulls the other god into a gentle, but weak hug. "...I am alright... no need to worry that little head of yours... you may have existed since the first dawn... but you're still young.... worrying about me like that will make you look like me sooner...! Don't want your face to be all wrinkly, before you live the best of your eternity do you...?"
He gives the other god a gentle kiss on the head. "I may be on the verge of death... but I do Death's dirty work, and clean up all their messes...! You think they're going to let me off any time soon, ha ha...?"
He sighs. "In all seriousness, pain had faded a long time ago.... during the first few cycles... I'm not a spring chicken, but at least I don't feel mortal, mm..? Is something bothering, other than my state because of my domain...?"
Funny thing a crown can do
It makes one think they're better than you
They think their circlet makes them God
That they won't be burried beneath the sod
So remind them with a blade or mace
That they lack any divine grace.
