Remember when I said I was gonna make a post about how shitty SOME of the g1 fans have been? Yeah, this is that post.

For context, I was a Monster High fan since 2010, before the dolls dropped when it was just a website. I used to tune in every other week for a new webisode on my iPod touch, my first doll was Gloom Beach Drac..I've been in the Fandom since it's inception, and I've seen some shit.

That being said, it is utterly appalling how some of yall out here have been with G3, especially in the beginning. I will never forget the amount or people who were blatantly transphobic about g3 Frankie, fatphobic about Draculaura, racist towards Lagoona, and now some of y'all are being blatantly racist and fatphobic about Venus and Catty?? We could not have been out here consuming the same media about being yourself, accepting everyone, and just being a generally decent and kind person, right? The amount of times little 10 year old me saw and commented on how they wish Mattel would have body diversity among the cast, or have more LGBT+ characters, let alone ones in the main cast, was way more than you think, and it's sad to see that some of y'all grew up to become some of the same mean girls who made fun of people like us in middle school for even liking the original g1 to begin with.

You don't have to like g3, however, some of yall need to really think before you post, because for the rest of us, it's really shitty when you're out here calling Drac and Catty obese (some of us are actually built like that!), being transphobic about Frankie, or being straight up racist when it comes to things like Lagoona's ethnicity, or Venus having black facial features. Contrary to popular belief, nobody is saying you're every "-phobic" or "-ism" in the book if you don't like g3, but it's real telling when you comment on how you don't like a doll who's only change is having more black facial features, let alone saying she "looks like a goblin", and are just oh so upset that the new Draculaura has thicker thighs to where you buy a whole other $25 doll, just to put her head on the skinner g1 Drac body.

It's crazy how some of y'all will bitch about "forced diversity", when Mattel is finally implementing the diversity we wanted to see as kids. Do better.

After Stitch in Style Frankie had some wonk issues I mostly swore off buying collector Monster High dolls because wonk is such a common issue. I may like to repaint dolls, but I don't like paying full price for a project doll.

However, in Australia, Myer got in the Howliday Valentines Day set with Draculaura and Clawd and my friend @Timothys_Toy_Therapy was able to pick up the set in person and choose the best one. He had a choice of 7 and only two met my standards since all the other ones had severe eye wonk.

I'm a big Draculaura and Clawd fan, her TV special is one of my favourite MH movies and I was down in the trenches when the webisodes were coming out and the Gloom Beach arc was happening, so I knew I would get this set especially since I never got the Forbitten Love set lol.

Despite the Quality Control issues Mattel is well known for, I do think this is a fun set overall. The facial screenings do harken back to the strong style of early G1 MH where there's detail, but it's not overloaded with symbols and lines and greebles that I think current MH collector dolls suffer from. It's strong clean lines and I really like the direction it went. I really appreciate the subtle choices like Draculaura's eyeshadow going up her temples.

However, I do think the outfits are mismatched in style and the red/pink theming kinda looks bad, especially since the pinks don't harmonise with each other, and the unpainted accessories really lessen the overall impact. I do wish Draculaura's outfit wasn't as dependent on the plastic accessories and shoes like Clawd's outfit as she feels naked without them, but cluttered with them on.

I do appreciate to finally have another Clawd release with actual pants on and I do appreciate the textles used. I just wished his loose top wasn't clashing next to his amazing pants and wasn't as pink/red.

As a side note it is funny that this Clawd's pants aren't low rise and are actually flkared as MH is long enough to subtly change to fashion trends instead of staying in their 2010s bubble.

I'm incredibly grateful to have been able to have a say on the faces because if I had received a set unchecked, I would have probably not even reviewed this at all lol.

my first ever g1 draculaura, my roommate got me a gloom beach one for christmas! it’s so crazy to finally have a g1 in hand, and she’s soooo cute!

here’s her next to scaradise g3, you can really see the difference between them, it’s crazy how different they look while also both being so draculaura. i even switched their head accessories around just to see how it looks

anyways, gloom beach drac’s legs are elastic, and they’re pretty loose as well, she has quite a it of trouble standing, but i got her balanced as best as i can. have her setup all nice and center
