“You dare insult the Gloink Queen?!” The creature roared as she looked down upon the rabbit.
“And what are you going to do about it? Wriggle over here to slam me into a pulp?”
“Oh wait, you can’t, because you’re too fat to even try.” Jax jeered, pulling out his middle finger, only for it to be censored.
“Guys, please…” Kinger began, holding his teacup in a somewhat shaky manner.
It had been a couple of weeks since Pomni's first adventure had gone wrong. After Caine fixed the circus, including the Gloinks, Kinger convinced the ringmaster to let them stay, with the condition that they wouldn't take as many things from the circus. Since then, the chess piece would occasionally visit the nest for tea. Kinger hoped that Jax and the Gloink Queen could get along after what had happened.
Jax was proving him wrong.
“Really? How about I show you that you're mistaken!” The Gloink queen fumed, ready to join Jax's side, but Kinger intervened.
"Please, Your Highness, I apologize for my friend's behavior. He can be disrespectful at times, but he means no harm," Kinger pleaded, giving Jax a stern look. Jax smirked, clearly unapologetic.
"Jax, I've told you before not to provoke royalty. You know how she dislikes being addressed in such a manner."
"What? Calling her fat? She should learn to take a joke once in a while. Besides, I didn't mean it seriously," Jax retorted, taking another sip of his tea with a smug expression.
Kinger sighed and turned his attention back to the Gloink Queen, hoping she had calmed down. Thankfully, she seemed to have regained her composure and had returned to her makeshift seat, resuming her tea-drinking.
"Very well, but he still deserves some form of retribution," she growled.
"Punishment? But... but..." Kinger stammered.
"He has insulted me one too many times. He must face the consequences."
"Guards! Seize this rabbit!" she commanded.
The smaller Gloinks surrounded Jax, closing in on him. His smile faltered as they inched closer. Feeling uneasy, Jax got up from his comfortable seat and nervously tried to back away from the smaller creatures. Although he didn't show his nervousness, he tried to play it off.
"Hey, have you little runts heard of personal space?" Jax asked rudely.
The Gloinks continued their pursuit, almost backing him into a wall. If he wasn't nervous before, he certainly was now.
"H-Hey Gloink Queen, you can call them off now," Jax stuttered.
But the Gloink Queen watched in amusement as Kinger panicked. He wanted to help Jax, but didn't know how. Kinger quickly got up and attempted to rush towards Jax to aid him, but the Queen's tail stopped him.
"Let him be, Kinger. He had it coming," the Queen said.
"You're... You're not going to hurt him, are you?" Kinger asked, concerned.
The Gloink Queen laughed loudly at his question. She tilted her head towards Kinger, her multiple eyes focusing on his concerned face.
"Kinger, I promised the Teeth Creature that I wouldn't order my children to take any more items or hurt his cast members in any way."
"Your friend will be fine, I assure you," the Gloink Queen said.
After the large Gloink explained, Kinger felt relieved knowing that Jax would be alright. However, his face fell a bit as he started thinking about what the little guards would do to him.
"But what exactly are you going to do to him?" Kinger asked.
"You'll see," the Gloink Queen chuckled.
A startled yelp filled the room as the Gloinks pounced on Jax, causing a cloud of dust to rise as the rabbit fought back. Kinger averted his gaze, closing his eyes, not wanting to witness the scene. However, his eyes snapped open upon hearing Jax...giggling?
Curiosity getting the better of him, Kinger turned back around, only to find the guards affectionately nuzzling Jax. He turned from side to side, trying and failing to avoid the tickly touch.
"Pfft-hahahahahahahaha! Hehehey! Cut it out!" Jax giggled as he pushed one of the little creatures away, only for them to come back with reinforcements.
Some of the Gloinks scurried off while the others continued to tickle him. It wasn't any better, but at least the tickling wasn't as intense. Just as he thought about that, they returned with an abundance of feathers, both large and small. Jax's eyes widened as the Gloinks with the smaller feathers approached him first.
“Wait! No!” Jax exclaimed.
But the Gloinks didn't listen as they came closer. Jax's laughter rose another octave as the feathers made contact. The rabbit thrashed even harder, trying to escape once more.
"Hahahahahaha! Kinger! Help me!" Jax called out, reaching out his hand to Kinger, hoping for some kind of help from his friend.
“Plehehease!”
However, Kinger only stood there, watching with amusement. Of corse he was no help
"Well, you got yourself into this mess, Jax. I don't know," Kinger replied as he shrugged.
“Hahahahahaha! Screhehew you! You old man!”
The Gloink Queen, along with Kinger, gasped at Jax's snarky remark. Oh, how he wished he had kept his smart mouth shut. The queen commanded the Gloinks to cease, causing Jax to go limp from the tickles. However, that brief moment of respite was abruptly interrupted as he was swiftly hoisted up by the little guards.
"How dare you call a rightful king old!" The Gloink Queen shouted, clearly “offended”
She turned her head towards Kinger, who had the same expression as her.
"I think we should wrap this up, wouldn't you say, Kinger?" The Queen suggested, to which the chess piece nodded in agreement.
“Yes that is a great idea.” Kinger replied, his eyes narrowing mischievously
Two more guards came in with the large feathers, one on each side of Jax. The rabbit panicked and resumed his struggles, but it was no use.
“Wait! Kinger, pal, buddy, you know I didn’t mean it like that. Please, just let me go!” Jax tried to persuade, smiling nervously.
Kinger only glared playfully at Jax, unimpressed by his attempts to smooth things over. The guards held him firmly in place, ignoring his pleas for mercy.
“Your highness, aim for his ears, you’ll find it that he’s quite ticklish there.” Kinger deadpanned as he grinned through his eyes
“You heard him! Guards! Attack!” The Queen
“Wha-?! No no no! Wait! Wa-AIIEEHEHEHEHEHEHAHA!” Jax bursts into laughter once more as the guards made the feathers dance over his ears.
He attempted to shift his ears away from the attacking feathers, but they persistently trailed his every movement. They refused to leave any area uncovered either.
"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! GUYS! PLEHEHEHEASE, I'M SOHOHOHORRY!" he cried out as he continued to struggle and thrash.
The two royals exchanged glances, seemingly deliberating whether to release Jax.
"Should we show him mercy?" Kinger asked, stroking his chin.
"Hm, perhaps not. I don't believe he has learned his lesson yet," the queen replied, flashing a wicked grin at Jax.
"Have you learned your lesson, rabbit?"
"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! YES! YEHEHEHEHES! HEHEHELP ME!"
The Queen chuckled, amused by his desperate plea. "Very well, guards, release him."
The guards stopped restraining Jax and he collapsed onto the ground. The remaining Gloinks hopped away to unknown destinations, much to Jax's concern. He let out a sigh of relief, grateful that the torment had finally ended.
"Let this be a lesson to you, Jax. Next time, I might just let them tickle you silly for more than a day," the Queen stated, causing Jax to lower his ears a bit.
She had gone back to sipping her tea right after Kinger helped the rabbit return to the table. Jax didn't say anything as he quietly looked down with his arms crossed, clearly embarrassed by the whole ordeal. Kinger, however, looked at him with amusement.
"So, have you learned your lesson about messing with royalty, Jax?" the old king asked, smiling smugly.
"...oh, shut up."
