Presidential Ambitions? Yes: 6 PR Indicators of His Interest in the 2016 Elections

My specialty is analyzing political communications and rhetoric. This is my second article on my close observation of former Governor Mitt Romney's political strategy. Check out my last analysis of his previous media appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
Unlike in a boxing match, in politics, weaknesses can become your strength-when they are played off properly.
Although Mitt Romney may not have landed any hits on the former heavyweight boxer, he is certainly using all the right techniques for the public. Here are the list of indicators that demonstrates he is planning on running for presidency a third time or at the very least, is testing the waters.
2016 Presidential Ambition Indicators
1) Strategic Media Appearances
His appearances on Jimmy Fallon and most recent event, "boxing" Evander Holyfield, offer much insight to what appears to be his strategy. Both events either directly or indirectly addressed many of the criticisms thrown his way during his previous attempts.
Whether they are addressing criticisms of him being stiff, out of touch, lacking humor or not being empathetic/sympathetic enough, both events address different blows he's taken in the past. These critiques of him are countered overtly and subtlety.
2) Appealing to the Youth
In my other article, "Fallon Meets Romney-Yin Meets Yang", I go over how appearing on Jimmy Fallon, augments his audience range. Millennials and families, will see him laugh at himself, crack jokes and hear stories about him being a grandfather.

3) Softening His Image
He's not just a businessman any more, he is also a Grandfather.
Did you see the endearing clip of him and his grandson (it starts at 1:15), that Jimmy Fallon played when the governor was on his show?
4) Rhetoric vs Reality
In Romney's first interview since deciding not to run for president again, interviewer Jane C. Timm discovered,
he had the donors and the support to mount a third presidential campaign but decided against it...
because, according Governor Romney,
it just didn’t feel right.
He has the resources and support, but still doesn't feel right about it? Hmm... Maybe there is one missing element which would allow him to run. One element needed so it would not appear as if he went against what he said previously, that he would't.
5) Countering His Criticisms
In Governor Romney's case, if he were to run again, more important than throwing a good jab will be his ability to counter his opponent's jabs.
Criticism 1. Too Rich to Care
So, what does one do? He "boxes" Evander Holyfield, a former Undisputed World Champion fighter and donates the money that is raised to Charity Vision. This is charity which helps blind children around the world see after an operation.
This was a very public and well promoted event.
Criticism 2. Lacking Humor
Even if we all know it is a fake fight, getting all prepared and throwing punches against a heavyweight world champion, is funny! Not so uptight anymore, right?
Criticism 3. Too Stiff:
In the clip to promote the fight, they show him weightlifting to prepare. However, you soon see his wife is moving the weight (43 seconds in) for him.
Sometimes you must look bad, to look good.
6) Learning From Opponents
His promotional fight is more effective than when in the 2008 presidential elections, Hillary Clinton, "cried".
Many suspected her tearing up was in response to criticisms. Criticisms similar to Gov. Romney's, in the sense, that people couldn't identify or relate with her. The last sentence of this article seems to softly suggest the validity of the critiques of former Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, as well.
The Final Round:
Although he has repeatedly said he would not run again, I can not help but see a campaign in the making. At the very least, his team is testing the waters for a Final Bout.
