Whether Luke knew it or not, Rachel always intended on coming back to Stars Hollow, really truly she did. After all, she didn’t want her daughter to grow up without a father.
But as Hayley got older and began to grow into the blue eyes that seemed to permeate every member of the Danes family tree, suddenly Rachel postponed every trip, every promise she made was hollow and empty, because as much as she loved her daughter and missed Stars Hollow, she couldn’t bear to look those same eyes in the face and tell Luke why she left all those years ago.
Until Hayley Danes takes life into her own hands and hops on a bus from Denver to Stars Hollow while her mom ships off to the Middle East. If she won’t tell Hayley anything about her dad, then she’ll just have to figure it out herself.
Only, when she actually gets to Stars Hollow, there doesn’t seem to be much of a reception committee. Instead everyone’s too busy putting together a re-enactment to honor some battle from a century ago and her dad has no idea who she is.
And things only get worse when her mother strolls back into town a few months later.

Rory Gilmore changing schools is the first time anything in Willow’s life has ever been different, though she’s disappointed to find that it didn’t change things nearly as much as she’d hoped. She still went to dance classes, she still had the same jobs, she was just the first in her class. But when Luke’s nephew moves to town, Willow knows that change is in the air.
Willow Dell is nice. Nice girls offer to show moody new boys around town. Nice girls don’t fall in love with boys like Jess Mariano.
