hi :)), can you tell me some plans or plotlines that you had for Rule One, but you changed so we never got to see them? i've been really curious ever since you mentioned it
Well, in my original plans, Sadie would have gotten kidnapped as a pretty early plot development. Like, I chose that title initially because Sadie's rule-making was to function as a way for her to manage the emotions of her captors. "Don't be afraid" was rule one because upon being kidnapped, she would find that her fear made Jasper a lot more erratic and desperately protective, so it would have become necessary for her to tamp down on that feeling. There would have been a lot of her intuiting the implicit rules of how to create the best conditions for herself. (I don't remember whether I originally planned for the revelation that he was a Confederate soldier to come before or after the abduction. I could see it being the cause or I could see it being a later plot element that would destabilize things once she thought she kind of had a handle on them.)
But, fortunately or unfortunately depending on how you feel about it, as I continued shaping Sadie as a character, I kept finding her deescalating situations that I intended to make more explosive. Which could be considered a mark of poor planning on my part, but I do enjoy a lot of what's happened instead.
And there's still time. 😁

"Flowers for Friga"
(A Wulfhere and Friga snippet)
-------------------------------------
It had been almost a month and both Wulfhere and Sølv had been recovering from their injuries without complications. Sølv had managed walking with his casted leg, hobbling about under Friga's feet. Much to her frustration and Wulfhere's amusement.
"Oooh away with you, Sølv!" Friga exclaimed as she tried to carry a basket to the table.
Wulfhere, seated on his cot, whistled to the fox. Sølv responded to it, yipping in reply as he came to Wulfhere.
"Thank you, Wulfhere," Friga said as she began her weaving.
"He only wishes to be near you," Wulfhere replied, scratching Sølv's ear.
"Well he can be near me when I'm seated!" Friga huffed.
Wulfhere smirked and chuckled as he continued to pet the fox, who chirped and nibbled at Wulfhere's large hand.
"He's full of energy, he is," Friga remarked, looking up from her work. "But that's good to see, it means his leg does not phase him."
Wulfhere nodded as he continued to play with Sølv. Friga noticed the bemused twinkle in Wulfhere's eyes now. Something she hadn't seen before, and it made her smile to herself.
Wulfhere wasn't the same man she had rescued those few months ago, at least, not to her. There was a quiet happiness in his eyes now, or so she thought. And his features seemed less worn, less troubled.
With these thoughts in her mind, she resumed her weaving, but sighed in frustration.
Gaining the attention of both Wulfhere and Sølv, Friga huffed.
"I thought I had more of that!"
Not going into further detail as to what 'that' was, she rose to her feet and began packing a few items. Wulfhere and the fox simply waited and watched her.
She would tell them soon enough what she was going on about.
Probably.
"Come along you two," Friga announced. "We're going on a walk."
"A walk?" Wulfhere asked in surprise, and Sølv's ears perked up.
"Aye, a walk! To the riverbank. I need more reeds." Friga replied.
Wulfhere and Sølv watched Friga as she rummaged around a corner of the hut. Neither were sure what Friga was doing, so both simply waited until the woman gave instructions or explanation.
It was 'cottage rules' as Wulfhere had come to call it.
"Here you are!" Wulfhere heard Friga mutter.
She came over to Wulfhere and offered him a wooden staff. It looked very old, worn with time and use. There were runes carved into the handle, Wulfhere thought he recognized one or two.
"You're well enough to walk with my father's cane."
Wulfhere looked up to Friga from the cane with surprise.
Her father's cane? It felt like some sort of honor to Wulfhere.
"Friga...I," Wulfhere began.
"It's not getting used by me," Friga smiled. "My father would rather see it used."
Wulfhere took the cane by the handle and nodded with reverence.
"Especially used by a friend of his daughter's.. "
Wulfhere heard Friga mutter this and looked to see her expression. It was soft and warm.
...Only a friend?....
Wulfhere thought.
Sølv was barking excitedly now as Friga helped Wulfhere with his boots. They both chuckled and told the grey fox they would leave soon.
The trio made their way to the river and Friga teased Wulfhere to walk faster as she walked ahead.
"Sølv will leave us both behind!" She laughed, turning back to him.
Wulfhere smiled back and laughed.
It was the happiest laugh Friga had heard from Wulfhere. And it made her heart quicken, and she wanted to hear it again. She stopped walking, and Wulfhere noticed how she stopped abruptly. His smile faded a little, wondering if something was wrong.
"Friga?" His deep voice called to her. A smile still soft upon his face.
The danish woman smiled warmly at the saxon man as she made her way over to him. Wulfhere watched as Friga took his spare hand into hers and squeezed it. His heart missing a few beats as he met her eyes.
"Come on, Wulfhere."
That was all she said, her voice kind. And Wulfhere followed, his smile never leaving his lips.
Now at the river, Sølv immediately ran towards the water and barked happily. Friga called after the little fox to mind his leg, and it appeared that the fox heard her. Because Wulfhere watched as the fox was careful not to let his bandaged leg get too wet. This made the man chuckle to himself as he sat upon a boulder nearby.
Friga left Wulfhere for a time to gather the reeds she had run out of. And Wulfhere was content to sit and listen to the river, enjoying the warm sunlight.
Wulfhere noticed some wildflowers that were growing near where he sat. They were various colors, purples, soft pinks, and some white ones too.
As Wulfhere admired the flowers, an idea came to him. Perhaps Friga would like some of the flowers to braid into her hair.
Wulfhere could already imagine how the flowers would compliment Friga's dark red hair, making him smile.
So he decided to try and pick as many as he could without Friga noticing he had done so.
Friga was busy cutting the reeds and telling Sølv to be careful. After a time, she glanced over to where Wulfhere would be. Friga smiled to see Sølv trotting over to Wulfhere with a stick in his mouth. Friga watched as Wulfhere laughed happily as he threw the stick for Sølv to go fetch.
And this smile of Wulfhere's made her heart happy, and her cheeks slightly warm.
Friga finished picking what she needed and made her way over to Wulfhere. She sat down beside him with a smile, and Wulfhere smiled in reply.
"Here." Wulfhere began.
Friga watched as Wulfhere leaned to his left, reaching for something on the ground next to him.
Wulfhere now presented a small bundle of wild flowers to Friga.
Friga looked at the flowers and then at Wulfhere, quite taken aback by this gesture.
Did Wulfhere...really just pick her flowers? Did the Saxons also pick flowers for women they...had interest in?
Friga chuckled and shook her head. Trying to shake these thoughts away with her laughter.
"And what are those for?" Friga asked, pretending to not know.
She wanted to see what Wulfhere would say they were for.
Wulfhere had expected this from Friga. Her dismissal of any sweetness towards her, but a playful spark in her eyes with it. He had come to love it. He smirked as he replied.
"They're for you, Friga. To put in your hair."
Friga's smile faded slightly as she looked at Wulfhere. She had half hoped this was his answer, but now that it was, she found herself feeling flustered.
Friga laughed again. It was forced, she knew that. Wulfhere did too, but his smirk became a soft smile.
"You want me to put flowers in my hair?" Friga asked, still putting on her front.
"I can put them in, if you like," Wulfhere offered, still smiling sweetly.
Friga shook her head with a slightly irritated sigh. Several emotions wanted dominance on her face and in her heart. Irritation, flattery, playfulness, and happiness.
Wulfhere observed Friga's turmoil, and he wanted to ease it. He wanted her to accept his gift, to let herself be treated like the beautiful woman he felt she was.
"Humor me, Friga…"
Friga heard Wulfhere say. His voice was gentle and a bit sad.
Friga's eyes met Wulfhere's as he said this, and Friga let the irritation go, and let the happiness show on her face.
"If you can weave them in, I will wear them," Friga stated, her voice quiet but sweet.
Wulfhere accepted the challenge with a nod and grin.
Sølv came over to the couple on the rock as Wulfhere began to weave the small flowers into Friga's locks. The grey fox barked happily, and Friga kept her eyes on her lap. Her cheeks flushed, feeling Wulfhere's gentle touch as he worked the flowers in. His hands were rough from many years of holding a sword, but his touch was so gentle as he braided her hair. She let herself think of how his touch would feel on her cheeks.
Wulfhere focused on his work for fear his hands would tremble if he lost focus. His heart hadn't stopped it's faster beat since Friga told him he could braid the flowers. He focused on his work, but he also treasured the feel of her hair.
He had dreamed of feeling her hair between his fingers, and it was just as lovely as he had imagined it.
The silence between them was born of both nervousness and contentedness. Neither wished to speak, but neither knew what to say if they did.
Finally, Wulfhere finished his work.
"There," he said with a satisfied smile.
Friga smiled too as she ran her fingers delicately over the flowers.
"Well?" Friga asked Wulfhere a chuckle. "How do I look?"
"Beautiful," Wulfhere replied quietly. "If I may be so bold as to say that."
Friga looked at Wulfhere for a moment thoughtfully. Usually, she would scold Wulfhere for any hint of compliment. But...she didn't want to...not this time.
"You may say that," Friga replied in almost a whisper.
She smiled at Wulfhere, her sea green eyes meeting his green ones. And Wulfhere smiled gently in reply.
If this all Wulfhere could have with Friga, he would take it. If all she would give him was warm smiles and sweet goodnight kisses, then so be it. He knew he was a saxon and she a Dane.
But he would love her until his last breath.
In this quiet moment, Friga could see something in Wulfhere’s eyes. She could see his affection for her in them. An affection born of friendship, as her gaze reflected the same to him.
But there was something more in his gaze, and she knew it.
She had tried to ignore it when she saw it shimmer over the past weeks.
She had endeavored not to enjoy it when she saw it, but she couldn't help it sometimes.
"Come, Sølv," Friga said kindly, but her eyes remained on Wulfhere.
Sølv barked cheerfully as he came to Friga. Wulfhere watched as Friga rose from the boulder, picked up her basket, and then extended her hand to him.
"Let's get back," she said, still smiling at Wulfhere.
Wulfhere smiled in reply and took Friga's hand to help him up, the walking stick in the other.
As they made their way back to the cottage, Friga's thoughts wandered to how much longer Wulfhere would need to heal.
Possibly no more than a week or two now.
Then she would have to send him back…
Back to his world...and out of hers forever.
She would have to find the strength to do that somehow.

“Or I could just do this,” Scott said, keeping his eyes trained on Gil’s as he climbed back on the bed behind him and grabbed his hips in both hands. He then leaned over Gil and nipped and licked at his ear. Gil let out a rather filthy moan.

Lisa Snart
Sekundäres Geschlecht: Omega
Endgame Partner: Cisco Ramon
Wissenswertes:
Auftritte:
“Finale Crisis”
A/B/O-Oneshotsammlung:
“Flirten kostet nichts?”
“Rogue Valentine”
Road to Finale Crisis:
“Zwei Legenden, eine Burg, etwas Magie und Menge Verwirrung”
Beginnings and Endings:
“Beginnings: Legends of Tomorrow”
“Endings: The Flash”
Nicht A/B/O-Fics:
“Kompass”
Polyam Adventures in the Arrowverse:
“Crossover - Laurel Lance und Central City”

i just know that if smeyer had written sadie she would be very lenient towards jasper's past and probably would have said that was normal at that time
I was thinking the same thing! I'm imagining, if SMeyer!Sadie felt bothered about it at all, it would be in a wholly non-confrontational way, and it would be cleared up very quickly.

I love your stories! In fact I was rereading Rule One when I had a thought, how would it be different if Sadie had been in Forks around the time they met Bella? Would Alice try to get Bella on her side earlier than canon so that was Bella could talk her and Jasper up to Sadie? Would Sadie feel more comfortable because she's not the only human mate? Would Jasper be more likely to run ideas by Bella before trying to talk to Sadie because he's not sure how a human would react?
Thank you, and good questions!
I feel like Alice and Edward would both be pushing for Sadie and Bella to be friends with each other, because Alice knows that Bella will love vampires and want to be immortal, and she hopes that Bella will be an influence on Sadie, and Edward hopes that Sadie will have the opposite influence on Bella and get her to respond more reasonably to him. (He's still in "I'm a monster" mode, so his concerns are more vampire-based, but Sadie's concerns are more on the "He breaks in and watches you sleep?!" side of things.)
Bella and Sadie actually would offer each other a lot of support and encouragement. They wouldn't change each other's opinion much, but the feeling of community, going through the same thing as someone else, would be good for them both.
Seeing the trajectory of Edward and Bella's romance would make Sadie more secure about her initial relationship with Alice and Jasper, since they're moving more slowly and communicating more explicitly and she doesn't feel as overpowered by them as Bella seems to be by Edward. Also, Bella would be a safe place to bring her more sentimental feelings; when Sadie starts to feel something for Alice and Jasper, Bella (who is fully in love with Edward by that point) will be someone she can talk to about it. (Also, Jacob not being in the family yet would mean that, for better or worse, there would be less conflict because Alice and Jasper would get away with a lot more.)
As for Bella, Sadie's friendship would make her feel more comfortable about doing things Edward doesn't approve of. In Eclipse, she often sneaks away to hang out with the wolves, and the vibe is very much like that of a child sneaking out on their parents; Sadie would advocate for Bella's right to hang out with her friends without having to run it by Edward. (Sadie would also want to hang out with the wolves, which could actually be a source of drama, because before the Cullens have hung out with the wolves much, Alice and Jasper would be very tough customers about Sadie going to a place they're not allowed to go and where Alice can't see.)
I think Jasper would hang out with Bella more than he does in canon, if only to test his control. He has to make sure he's fully in control of his thirst, before he allows himself to breathe around Sadie. And it has the added bonus of making Bella like him a lot (which would subtly influence Sadie to like him), because Jasper would be emanating great vibes around Bella, despite using her as a guinea pig for his bloodlust.
The conflict of the first book would be changed by Sadie being involved, because she would probably also be at the baseball field and also need to be protected when James decides he wants to eat Bella. But she would refuse to just skip town and leave her parents, nor would she be willing or able to throw a fake tirade at her house to convince her parents to let her leave. Jasper and Alice would try to insist that they need to bring her with them and Bella, and the conversation from there would basically look like:
"So what's the plan?" Sadie demands, while Edward continues to floor the gas pedal. "We just never come back, in case the tracker thinks to look for us here?"
"We can come back when he's dead," Jasper says.
"By 'when he's dead', do you mean 'when you've killed him'?"
"Probably, though I'm not picky about how he dies, so long as he stops being a threat."
"If he won't stop chasing us and eventually you're going to have to kill him to keep him from killing, then why split up to vastly different locations in the first place?"
And they'd end up just killing James in Forks. Victoria would still get away, since that's a skill of hers, but I feel like Jasper would treat her being loose as a bigger problem, since now she's a threat to Sadie, too, so I don't think Victoria would make it all the way to Eclipse, with Jasper and the wolves on her the whole time.
New Moon mostly doesn't happen. Jasper probably wouldn't lose control over his thirst for Bella's blood with Sadie also in the room, though I feel like it would be a pretty awesome conflict if he did. If Sadie saw him almost kill Bella. That would be wild. Either way, though, the Cullens would not move. Edward might break up with Bella to protect her, and Sadie might stop talking to Alice and Jasper for a while after seeing Jasper try to kill Bella, but the Cullens would stay in town. Bella's depression wouldn't be as intense, because the "It will be as if I never existed" aspect of Edward's dumping wouldn't be there, and because Sadie knowing about vampires, too, and knowing what she's going through would be reassuring. And Sadie would have Alice and Jasper trying to convince her that they're safe to be around. Eventually, Bella would still end up hanging out with Jacob, and Edward would crack and get back together with her when he worries about her hanging out with werewolves. No Volturi visit, so no deadline to change Bella or Sadie. Bella would still really want to become a vampire, but the fact that Sadie is happy with aging would decrease Bella's complex about the whole thing. They'd at least start college before either of them becomes a vampire.
Jasper having been a Confederate soldier would obviously still be a huge source of conflict, especially if Bella is the one to tell Sadie, like if Edward casually tells Bella and Bella casually tells Sadie. That would be a seismic rift between Sadie and the vampires and between Sadie and Bella; she would probably hang out with the wolves way more, over it. At which point Alice and Jasper might break the treaty by going to La Push to get Sadie back, and that would end up being the main conflict.

about Rule One, do youuuuu perhaps have any thoughts on how close everyone in the cullen family would be with sadie once she joins them? and also what activities they'd like to do most with her?? ^_^
Most obviously, Alice and Jasper would be ecstatic to have her around, and they would have to get comfortable with sharing her with the rest of the family; knowing that Sadie is talking to someone else in another room would take some getting used to, and they'd both have to overcome their clinginess.
Nessie already adores her, and that would only continue once she finishes Lord of the Rings and continues looking to Sadie for fantasy/sci-fi recommendations. Sadie would become her window into both the highly-respected works, like those of Isaac Asimov and Ursula K Le Guin and Octavia Butler, and the less respected. (Not listing those, because it feels mean.) Sadie would casually mention Doctor Who and Nessie would just have to watch it, and Nessie quickly becomes a huge fan. (Basically, Nessie inherited her mother's nerdiness but not her genre preference.)
Just as a symptom of existing in the same house as Nessie and Sadie, the rest of the family gets into various shows, movies, and books to various degrees. Edward secretly reads everything Nessie is about to read, just to make sure there's nothing inappropriate in any of it, and gets surprisingly into the Tolkienverse and the Legacy of Orïsha series. Emmett watches Doctor Who with Sadie and Nessie and starts referencing it kind of a lot. Jacob already likes Star Wars and both Avatars; Rosalie finds that she likes Star Trek. (Rosalie knows at least a little about all of it, though, because Nessie will ask for hair styles she's seen in various shows and movies or imagined from book descriptions, so she'll show them to Rosalie with her power.) Jasper enjoys the works of Octavia Butler, and he and Sadie have a few sober conversations about Kindred. Bella remains staunchly loyal to the classics, but she does find she enjoys the Inkheart series, when Nessie asks her to read them to her at bedtime. This all culminates in the Cullens going to various fan conventions ("for Nessie"), some of them in costume. (One time, Sadie dressed as Uhura and Rosalie dressed as Seven of Nine. Nessie dressed as Elva, from Eragon, as she preferred to dress for high fantasy settings. Another time, Rosalie and Emmett were Thirteen and "Sexy Eleventh Doctor". Alice insists that they can't repeat costumes, so things grow progressively more imaginative and Esme for sure dresses as the TARDIS at some point.)
Like I mentioned in the other posts, various family members would designate Sadie as their conflict moderator, so Edward and Rosalie might run up to her, both ranting at the same time about something the other did, and she would, slightly amused, unwind their conflict and analyze why they're feeling the way they are and get a sense of what behaviors could be changed. At a point, she'd have done this so often that she would designate specific "office hours", outside of which they can't bombard her with their disagreement unless it's an emergency. (Jasper does something to annoy Emmett, and Emmett goes, "I'm gonna tell Sadie!" and Jasper smirks like, "It's 8:31.") There is honestly still a fair amount of "Sadie, I know it's outside of your office hours, but...", and a lot of times she'll still listen and offer advice, but sometimes she'll say, "Not right now. I want to finish what I'm doing. Come back a bit later."
Sadie's well-maintained moral code tends to keep her out of trouble, but her curiosity and Emmett's eagerness to just Do Stuff means they can really just go nuts, if left alone together. Sadie might wonder, "Can vampires do this?" or "What happens if a vampire does this?" and Emmett will go from zero to "Let's find out" in a millisecond. (He does not follow the scientific method, so Sadie has separate journals labeled "Shenanigans" to account for their time together.)
Carlisle and Esme immediately and not entirely consciously dub Sadie the good one, often telling the other kids to follow her example. If she does get into mischief with her new siblings, Carlisle and Esme have been known to completely ignore her role in the mischief and only chastise the others. Sadie might say something like, "It wasn't just Emmett; I was involved, too," but at that point Carlisle or Esme would point out that Sadie is taking responsibility for her actions and the other should learn to do that, as well. No one holds it against Sadie; it becomes both a joke and a known fact that she gets away with pretty much everything just by virtue of being a super decent person.
Bella and Sadie are pretty much comfortable with just existing parallel to each other; they might read different books in the same room in silence and consider it quality time. Or they might talk about their human lives and shared experiences from having grown up at around the same time. Sadie finds Bella fascinating and enjoys studying her seemingly-contradictory personality traits. Everyone is contradictory to some degree, but Bella seems especially hard to figure out.
This is getting long, so I'm going to stop here, lol. Hopefully more of the relationship dynamics between Sadie and the Cullens will be clear in Rule One, but if not, you can always send another ask! 😁

“Ryder!!”
At the same time, Gil stopped moving and Scott’s head snapped up, and he looked up at Avitus, who had a nearly painful grip on his shoulder. “What?”
“Your nose is bleeding,” Avitus said.
Scott blinked at him and brought a hand up to his nose. Sure enough, his fingers came away streaked with red.
