Lamborghini Countach: 1 of 112 Ever Made
Protected by Detail BOSS: Ceramic Pro Elite Scottsdale
The 2022 Lamborghini Countach is a modern homage to the iconic supercar of the 1970s. It blends classic design elements with modern technology, boasting a V12 engine, stunning aerodynamics, and luxurious interiors. Limited to just 112 units, it pays tribute to Lamborghini's rich heritage while pushing the boundaries of performance and style. We’ve been told there have been 30 shipped to the United States, and this was the first in Arizona. We had the honor and blessing of having this new 2022 Lamborghini Countach in our possession for a plethora of services that our client requested.
The vehicle received our stage 1 paint correction to reduce and eliminate surface scratches caused from the factory/during shipping. It was tinted and CLEARPLEX windshield skin applied to the windshield. We then wrapped and protected the entire exterior in Ceramic Pro KAVACA Paint Protection Film. This film carries a 12 year warranty against delamination and turning yellow. It also features self-healing properties so light scratches will disappear with a simple application of heat. Paint protection film is vital for those seeking the ultimate protection against scratches, rock chips and damage from driving. To top it all off, we ceramic coated the exterior, glass, wheels and leather for years of UV protection and ease of cleaning.
We hope you enjoy the video of this project as much as we have! With an elegant soundtrack that suits the mantra of the countach, its sure to impress. Until next time, happy detailing.

Harvest
Summary: There’s better places to wake up; this time Gil found himself in one of the worst. Warnings: Gore, Death: Mature-Explicit fanfiction.
Snow falling on his face made him wake up. When opening his eyes, the first thing Gilbert saw were his hands in fingerless gloves, semi covered in snow powder. He got up from the snow, wiping off the rest from his gloves and unaffiliated long dark coat. As soon as he straightened his head, he noticed a full-length mirror in front of him, standing in the middle of the white nothingness.
He walked towards it.
The mirror had an umber colored frame, and the glass was in perfect state. At close inspection, Gilbert recognized his face more pale than the usual, not blushed despite of the cold. More alarming, a fresh blood stain covered his whole midriff. He unbuttoned his coat, opening it with both hands. His skin and muscle was missing, showing his white ribs over his beating heart and lungs hanging over... Nothing. His spine was visible, as well it was his hips pocking over his pants.
Crack.
Looking down, he saw clean ice cracking under his feet, over a pitch-black lake, that he could swear was not there before.
He felt—
Gilbert woke up again, water covering his nose and mouth. With his legs, he pushed to move his head above the reddish looking waters of the bathtub he found himself in. Gasping for air, horrible shaking dominated his whole cold body, making his teeth chatter. He was naked, ice cubes covering his torso.
His left hand was hanging off the tub. This can't be happening, he hoped, slapping his face with an open palm.
Nothing around him changed; he did not wake up once again.
He grunted and whined, cursing under his breath. Observing around him, he decided to inspect his body for last. The unknown bathroom was perfectly clean, smelling like chlorine: the responsible cleaned after themselves. To his right, a paper note was taped to the wall. Gilbert snatched it, putting it close to his face, trying to be as motionless as he could, his heart pounding in his ears.
Printed with red ink, it said:
"You should be proud, a freak of nature like you is being useful."
He stared at the note, his hand still trembling, then dropped the note to the ceramic floor, closing his hand in a loose fist. A millionaire bastard "altruist" little project? They could get organs in legal, not so legal, and straight up illegal ways, so it was unlikely the organs were for themselves. Unless, the people behind this were after immortality, jealous of people like Gilbert...
Well...
With both hands, he began to examine his body, starting from his chest. While it seemed he still had both of his lungs by the lack of incisions under his nipples, a just after where his ribs ended, he found staples in the middle and at both sides: Liver, of course. But the middle surgery cut went further of the navel, nearly going lower into his pubic mound.
Enough: he removed both his hands out the cold water, hanging his left outside again, while he had trouble to rest his right, having no strength to keep it on the tub frame, next to the wall. It slipped inside again, back to the cold.
Not just his liver—all or part of it, no way to know—that wasn't enough, likely a kidney (or both), pancreas, intestines... Greedy motherfuckers.
Gilbert snickered, sending his pain receptors on his upper body haywire. His face contorted, his expression fixing on a sneer, closing his eyes. They were going to find a putrid murky pool of rotting biowaste instead of healthy ready-to-be-transplanted organs, time claiming what it's hers when she can. Yes, he was going to die for nothing, his missing organs will not grow back, and nobody will receive them. If a poor bastard it's out there waiting to new functional vital body pairs, they will die as well. Hopefully, whoever wanted this is experimenting on themselves, not forcing innocents to be their guinea pigs.
He opened his eyes. If they did harm to his little brother, he, he... He couldn't do anything from there, nothing at all, literal dead weight. His ending was imminent, Death was tapping with impatience his clock, not caring if Gilbert needed more time to weep in silence.
No, not yet.
The last thing Gilbert wanted was to die in water, the opposite of dying beautiful, water interfering with the process in ugly, uglier ways than the terrestrial usual. He should get out of the bathtub, yes, he definitely should, while still doable. He will do, after closing his eyes just for a little while...
Note: Tod, Death, Masculine; Zeit, Time, Feminine.

Eagle (USUK) Part 4
Notes: No links because of the recent issue but you can find links to my AO3 on the side of this blog!! So sorry for the inconvenience.
Arthur came to in an unfamiliar bed. Warmth was the first thing he felt, practically smothering his whole body. He realized he was laying down when his eyes were still closed, and when he moved his fingers ever so slightly, he could feel the soft slip of a mattress against his skin.
Everything slammed into him all at once.
Alfred.
The gun.
The shot, the bullet that had passed not a foot from his side.
His stomach dropped and his whole body tensed up, though when he tried to actually move his limbs, he found himself unrestrained. Some of the panic left him then, though he still took a few minutes to just breathe before daring to inch his eyes open.
He was in a simply furnished but warm room. A double bed, a nightstand, a desk and chair, a chest of drawers, a mirror against the wall. There were plants on the nightstand and desk and windowsill. The walls were painted a bright, sunny yellow, and there was a fluffy blanket with a tiger on it stretched over his body. His coat was slung neatly over the back of the chair.
There was nothing that inherently screamed ‘danger’ about the room, but Arthur was still cautious as he pulled the blanket and duvet away from his body. His clothes hadn’t been touched, and when he leaned over the edge of the bed, his shoes were neatly placed on the floor beside it. A glass of water stood on the nightstand. Arthur didn’t touch it as he stood up and crept towards the window.
A normal city view greeted him. He didn’t dare stand right in front of the window, but instead peeked out from the very corner. He saw a normal street with cars and people rushing down both sides of it. A tan apartment building stood across from the room he was in, about five storeys high. He estimated he was on the third floor of whatever building he was in. There was a grocery store on the corner, and a laundromat right next to it.
A gentle knock sounded at the bedroom door.
Arthur whipped around and froze. He held his breath as the door creaked open.
The man had a slight figure, perhaps even slighter than Arthur’s own, and hazel eyes that widened when he took in the empty bed. They swung to him quickly, and the man smiled. “Oh! You’re up, that’s good. How are you feeling?”
Arthur gripped the edge of the windowsill, but there was nothing to defend himself with unless he threw the cactus at the man. “Who are you? Where am I?”
“My name is Feliciano. I probably should have started with that, heh.” Feliciano tugged on a strand of hair sheepishly. “And you are in our apartment!”
“Our?”
“Yes! I live here with my partner, Luddy- ah, Ludwig.”
“Right.” Arthur’s knuckles were white. “Why am I here?”
At that, Feliciano’s smile dropped and he started worrying at his lip. “How much do you remember? From before?”
“I-”
“Feli? Is he up?” Another voice joined the conversation, and a taller, broader man stepped up behind Feliciano. Ludwig. His blue eyes narrowed when he took in Arthur’s position. “Get away from there.”
Arthur stiffened and his hand twitched towards the cactus before he ultimately drew it back to his body. “Why? And again, I’d like to know who the hell you two are and what I’m doing here.”
Ludwig put both of his hands up into the air. “We’ll tell you everything, but you have to get away from the window.”
“Why?” Arthur didn’t budge.
“You getting spotted now would defeat the purpose of this being a safe house.”
Arthur’s breath caught. “S-Safe house?” His legs felt weak and he tottered over to the bed before sinking to his knees next to it, his elbows on the blanket. The gunshot echoed in his head.
“Yes. On Alfred’s request.”
“Alfred.” Arthur’s chest tightened and he felt an all too-familiar burn behind his eyes. “That was- That was real, then? Not some…dream, or nightmare?”
Ludwig shifted his weight from foot to foot. “We can’t say what happened between you two, but Alfred is very much real.”
“Where is he?”
“He hasn’t come here yet.”
Arthur’s fingers clenched in the sheets. “I want to see him. I need to see him.” He faintly heard footsteps across the floor but didn’t register anything until Feliciano’s arm encircled his shoulders.
“We wouldn’t keep him from you,” Feliciano said softly, his eyes brimming with sympathy. “He said he would make his own way here, and he hasn’t come in yet. But he will, I’m sure! He looked like he really cared about you.”
“He- He did?” Arthur’s eyes widened.
“Feli,” Ludwig said lowly from the door. “He told me to tell you that his head is mixed up inside right now and he might not be the way you remember him.” The big man sighed. “But. He had a very serious expression on his face. He was serious about protecting you.”
“Luddy, no need to be so blunt about it!” Feliciano pouted.
“No need to give him false hopes, either. The situation is what it is.”
“Thank you for telling me,” Arthur murmured.
Feliciano peered at his face closely. “Come on,” he suddenly declared. “You’re going through a lot. Are you hungry? Thirsty? There’s lasagne and we can make you tea or coffee if you want it.”
“I’m a little bit thirsty, I suppose.” Arthur felt as though he was wading through fog. Everything seemed distant, distorted. Safe houses and guns and blue eyes and gunshots carouselled through his mind until his stomach roiled. The room spun, and he leaned heavily on Feliciano as the other man helped him stand.
“Tea or coffee, then?” Feliciano chirped into his ear.
“Tea, please. Do you have anything herbal?”
Feliciano carefully steered him down the hallway to a small but cosy living room. “I think we have some kind of green tea?” he said as he helped Arthur sit down on the couch. He pulled a blanket over the blond’s body and ensured he was all but surrounded by pillows. “But I can run and get something else if you have a specific request!”
Arthur looked up at him with eyes that weren’t fully in the present. “Anything is fine. Don’t… Don’t strain yourself on my account.” He looked at the blanket and pillows incomprehensively, then wrapped his arms around a sky blue one with a kitten printed on it.
Feliciano’s brow furrowed as he pulled away, though he tried to keep his voice cheery. “It wouldn’t be a problem. I’ll go make you tea now, okay?” Once he was out of earshot, he turned wide eyes onto Ludwig. “He doesn’t look so good,” he whispered.
Ludwig peered at the couch for a moment and shrugged. “He’s overwhelmed. We can’t do anything except keep an eye on him until he gets here.”
“I hope everything will be okay,” Feliciano whispered, playing nervously with his fingers.
Immediately, Ludwig was at his side with an arm around his shoulders. “Nothing will happen to you, Feli. I promise.”
Feliciano’s hand curled into Ludwig’s shirt. “To us. I don’t want anything to happen to you either, Luddy…”
“I know.” Ludwig gave him a quick squeeze before pushing him in the direction of the cupboards. “Go find a mug and a teabag.” He filled their kettle with water and turned it on, and also placed a portion of lasagne onto a plate to stick in the microwave.
Four minutes later, plate and mug were set on the coffee table in front of the couch. Arthur lifted his gaze at the soft clink and nodded his thanks to his hosts, but he didn’t reach out. Ludwig settled down on an armchair with a newspaper, and Feliciano was quick to plop himself down on the broader man’s lap and switch on the television to a nature documentary. Green and hazel eyes watched the screen for a few moments.
“Arthur. You should drink, and eat a little bit.” Feliciano offered him a smile. “You have to keep your strength up.”
“How do you know my name?” Arthur asked as he reached for the tea.
“Gilbert told us.”
Slim fingers stiffened around ceramic. “Who’s Gilbert?”
“My brother,” Ludwig answered. “He’s the one who arranged this safe house for you and Alfred.”
Flinching again at Alfred’s name, Arthur slowly brought the mug to his lips. “This all sounds very complex.”
“It is,” Ludwig said with a sigh as he put his newspaper aside. “To tell you the truth, we don’t know everything either. You’re not the only one waiting for answers from Alfred.”
“I’m sorry we’ve inconvenienced you so.”
“Arthur!” Feliciano chided. “It’s not an inconvenience! If it was, Luddy wouldn’t have agreed. Now eat!”
Arthur looked startled at the outburst and nearly dropped his tea. He gave a faint chuckle as he recovered and traded the mug for a fork. “Still. This isn’t nothing.”
“That could be said about the whole situation,” Ludwig muttered.
“I never imagined…this. Any of this,” Arthur said as he stared down at the plate. “When he first looked at me it was so cold. I never want him to look at me like that again, but if what you say is true then…” His breath hitched and he hugged the pillow harder with the one arm that was around it. “I don’t even know what to expect, or what to say.” He glanced to the pair across the room and bit his lip. “I’m sorry, this barely concerns you two.”
“Stop apologizing! And you’re in our house now, so of course it concerns us! Right, Luddy?”
“Yes,” Ludwig said, looking mildly uncomfortable. “I’m not the best with emotional stuff and I can’t even begin to imagine what you’re going through, but I don’t want you to feel like you have to bottle everything up. I’ve read that that’s very unhealthy.”
“And I’m very good with emotional stuff, so you can always talk to me, okay?” Feliciano added, beaming over at Arthur. “And if you don’t feel well, tell me too! I’m a nurse so I can help with pretty much everything except surgery!”
“Thank you.” Arthur had just lifted a pasta-loaded fork to his mouth when the front door opened and Alfred stepped through it. The fork dropped from nerveless fingers as the two blonds stared at each other. “Alfred,” he eventually choked out.
“Hey, Arthur.”

Assen Station Building Award
Powerhouse Company are proud to announce that Assen Station, designed in collaboration with De Zwarte Hond, has been awarded and chosen as the winner of the BNA People’s choice Award of the Year 2021!
The new station is an all-sided building – connective, transparent and sustainable – that is equally inviting from every angle. The striking triangular geometry of the roof gives the building a strong identity, organizes the program and makes a strong connection with the urban context.
In what is a first for the Netherlands, the project bridged the trains tracks entirely in wood. The choice of wood for the 3,000 m² triangular roof is not only sustainable; it also fits the green character of the city of Assen and its surroundings. The wooden canopy creates a warm, inviting atmosphere for travelers. Openings in the inner section of the roof allow sunlight to dapple the platforms and the station hall.

Assen Station: Gateway to the City
Design: Powerhouse Company + De Zwarte Hond
Photos below by Sebastian van Damme
Assen Station has been completely transformed thanks to an extraordinary wooden structure. The new station is defined by a triangular wooden roof that appears to float above the several buildings below.
It connects the railway line and the city with a single urban gesture. The construction of a new car tunnel under the station square has allowed a traffic-calmed public space to be created around the station. The station was designed by Powerhouse Company and De Zwarte Hond on behalf of NS, ProRail and Assen municipality.
A new identity
Assen Station was originally a transit station where the city remained invisible to travelers. The municipality of Assen therefore asked for a transparent and inviting station on the regional level, which would at the same time remove the barrier of the tracks on the neighborhood level.
Powerhouse Company and De Zwarte Hond designed the new station as an all-sided building – connective, transparent and sustainable – that is equally inviting from every angle. The impressive triangular geometry of the roof gives the building a strong identity, organizes the program and also makes a connection with the urban context.
“The shape of the canopy was created by placing an apparently simple triangle on the site, with a slight slope at the entrance of the underground bicycle shed and a curve at the level of the tracks. This has created an elegant, almost floating structure that responds on all sides to its context.” – Nanne de Ru, Founder Powerhouse Company
An artisanal wooden roof
The 3,000 m² triangular roof is made entirely of wood. This is a first: it’s the only example in the Netherlands where a station’s roof bridging train tracks has been entirely constructed in wood.
The design team took their responsibilities seriously when it came to sustainability. The choice for a natural building material also fits well with the green character of the city of Assen and its surroundings. The wooden roof creates an inviting atmosphere for travelers.
Windows in the middle of the roof allow a play of sunlight on the platforms and in the station hall. The wooden roof is 10 meters high and has three uneven sides with lengths of 78, 88 and 90 meters. A green sedum roof surface has been added along the edges for buffering rainwater.
For durability and easy maintenance, the columns and roof edges are finished in a coated metal finish in a champagne color that harmonizes with the wooden beams. By constructing the roof with freestanding columns, the program beneath can easily be adapted. This sustainable design thus provides for future changes in passenger numbers and commercial facilities in the pavilions.
“The strength of the design lies in the strongly connective form. This helped to maintain the concept throughout the process, while also being able to represent the different interests of all three of our clients – ProRail, NS and the city of Assen.” – Stefan Prins, Partner Powerhouse Company
The station as public plaza
Under the wooden roof construction, detached buildings offer space for the commercial and station-related functions. A logical organization of the functions results in an open and accessible station. The buildings have brick facades with rounded corners. The purple-red toned facing bricks match the red carpet of brick pavers and the red porphyry of the station floor. The station thus functions as a public plaza marking the beginning of the main route towards the city center.
“The design of an all-sided station accentuates the merger of two districts.” – Erik Roerdink, Partner De Zwarte Hond
Station area redesign
The new station is not isolated. It forms the most eye-catching part of the Florijn Axis, the area development that promotes the accessibility and expansion of the city of Assen and improves the connection with Assen-Oost.
The triangular station roof completely spans the newly expanded railway line and thus fulfills a key role in connecting the eastern and western districts. The complex transport flows of the station square have been resolved with a new platform tunnel for pedestrians, the restoration and shortening of the existing bicycle tunnel, a car tunnel and an underground bicycle shed for 2,600 bicycles. This has created a pedestrian-friendly station area with high-quality greenery, minimal impact from cars and a pleasantly human scale.
“The new station gives substance to the ambitions that De Zwarte Hond previously incorporated in the master plan study for the Florijn Axis and the urban plan for the Assen station area: good accessibility for all modalities.” – Jeroen de Willigen, Partner De Zwarte Hond
With a connective architectural gesture in wood, Assen Station combines a grand and inviting entranceway with an optimal multimodal junction that connects the city with the region.

Flooring Options: Top 10 for 2020

Home redesign and remodeling has exploded during this extended shelter-at-home era. And because we have a bit more time on our hands to consider some of the more daunting projects, changing out flooring has emerged as the latest home improvement trend.
It’s long been established that hardwood flooring adds value so it’s probably not news to you that wood nearly always tops the list of most desirable flooring choices. But if you haven’t been paying attention lately, some of the newer selections just might pleasantly surprise you.
By far, the two materials I’ve encountered most often are both wood lookalikes. Wood facsimiles have come a long way from the old shiny-surfaced vinyl of the past.  Ceramic plank or wood-grain tile flooring, or a new waterproof plank laminate are present in about 90% of the home remodels I’ve seen recently, and with good reason. Both are remarkably durable, and many are indistinguishable to the eye, from authentic wood planking. These contemporary materials feature a lightly textured surface and variable, imperfect grain patterns, resulting in a chic, tasteful appearance.
Some of the less conventional and more luxurious options like stone and eco-friendly bamboo may be more elegant and are equally durable, but they’re much more pricey to both purchase and install, and far more bother to maintain.
It’s worth familiarizing yourself with a few less recognized but up-and-coming surfaces as well. In case you’re looking for something out of the ordinary, you might consider glass tiles either in a grid pattern or mosaic. Stamped concrete, formerly popular for outdoor patios, is becoming more and more fashionable as an indoor option with newer sealing surfaces.
No matter what flooring you choose, you’ll have to live with it so be certain to give equal consideration to aesthetics and ease of upkeep.
Top 10 Flooring Options
Homeowners today have a seemingly endless array of options when it comes to selecting what kind of floor they’d like in their homes. So, how do you know which is right for you? HGTV has the scoop on the top 10 flooring choices and what you need to know about each.
1. Wood. Solid wood is a popular option for many because it can be refinished over and over and lasts a lifetime. However, in order to be installed properly, it needs to be nailed to a sub-floor, and it’s important to check that the wood is harvested responsibly–look for an FSC or SFI certification to be sure.
2. Engineered Wood. The difference between this and solid wood is how it’s constructed: The top layer of engineered wood is a veneer of the real thing, supported by plywood underneath. It’s about the same cost and boasts a similar durability to actual wood, but installation is much easier, especially with certain “clickable” varieties.
3. Laminate. Laminate floors give you the freedom to choose any number of patterns and colors to complement your home’s architecture and decor. Manufacturers use photo technology to create a plastic coating that mimics whatever style you’re after. Another perk: It can be placed directly on top of an existing floor. No tear-outs!
4. Linoleum. An environmentally safe option, linoleum is made with renewable, biodegradable resources. Special coatings resist stains and heavy traffic, but the floor itself is high maintenance, needing refinishing every two years.
5. Ceramic Tile. Tile is another popular choice for flooring because it can be customized easily. There are four main types: glazed, quarry, porcelain (the most resilient) and terracotta. Installation isn’t cheap, especially if you add decorative trim pieces or mosaic inlays.
6. Carpet. The most versatile flooring is carpeting, which features more colors and textures than any other kind. A good quality indicator is the fiber density; wool is the standard, but other common materials include nylon, acrylic, polyester and polypropylene.
7. Stone. Stone floor tiles are also popular, if you’re willing to splurge. Costing anywhere from $2 to $100 per square foot, they add a touch of luxury to any home. Harder stones (think granite and marble) only need to be sealed every five years; softer stones, such as limestone, must be refinished more frequently. A word of caution if you want stone in your bathroom: It’s wise to invest in skid-resistant surfaces, as stones become slippery when wet.
8. Vinyl. Vinyl flooring, whether in sheets or tile squares, requires almost no maintenance. There are many colors and styles to choose from, with very little cost associated with customization. Backed by felt, they have an upper layer designed to resist scratches for 15 years.
9. Bamboo. All the rage with green living enthusiasts, bamboo flooring is an eco-friendly option made from the plant’s fibers held together by glue. It can also stand up to wear and tear, which makes it comparable to stronger flooring, like wood.
10. Cork. Cork is an alternative trend that’s gaining traction in newer homes. It’s comfortable to walk on and comes prefinished, so you don’t have to reseal within a year. Another plus is that it comes from the bark (rather than the core) of a tree, so forests remained unharmed during the harvesting process.

Reprinted with permission from RISMedia. ©2020. Ferrari SF90 too beautiful to not post!
Although one of our well-known specialties is working on hypercars, we still have to pinch ourselves every time we get the call to work on them.
The Ferrari SF90 was no different. Boasting its beauty with sleek and low profile bodylines, an optioned gloss black roof, and everything carbon-fiber, this car is surely one that will go down as one of the most fantastic Ferrari’s we’ve been blessed to work on.
Receiving our stage 2 paint correction, we were able to improve the surface through compounding and polishing by reducing surface scratches and sandmarks by 90%+

Summer’s Kitchen Hotlist
This summer, whether you’re jet-setting it abroad or having a staycation nearer to home, it’s always nice to come back to a clean, well-considered kitchen. If however, you’re spending your summer budget on a complete new refit or you simply want some ideas and inspiration for adding a few updates, here’s what’s new for the season ahead…
Benchmarx launches new lines
The Sherwood Charcoal design caught my eye, as I do love a dark, dramatic look. Already available in White and Grey, the new colourway is a welcome addition to the collection and is in keeping with the trend for all things industrial. Mix and match with the other finishes for a personal touch or stick to a single block of colour for a co-ordinated finish. Adding elements of copper and vintage metal with lighting and accessories and teaming it with reclaimed timber flooring will complete the urban feel. It has a durable PVC coating and costs from £2,200 for an eight-unit kitchen, with larder units and curved corners also available.
I also love an in-frame design but less the fussy, detailed look and more of a clean slab effect. The Chelsea Matt Dove Grey design is also new from Benchmarx and features door and drawer fronts neatly framed within the one-piece cabinetry. Priced from £3,069 for an eight-unit kitchen, fit with cornicing for a characterful look or keep it simple for a modern feel.
Caple’s new touch control ceramic hob
Not everyone is persuaded by the power of induction, so for those who like their ceramic hobs, Caple has just launched a stylish black glass design with touch control. The C824C costs £497 and has a frameless design, 78cm width and flush-mounted finish for a minimal look. There’s a 10-level digital power display for each zone and a handy keep warm setting as well as programmable timer and quick heat boosters.
Gorenje reveals special edition VW Bulli fridge
Inspired by the famous Volkswagen Bulli in Baby Blue and Bordeaux colours, this special edition refrigerator has an A+++ energy rating and a 260-litre capacity. It comes with IonAir and DynamiCooling food preserving technology and is sure to create a talking point in any kitchen! It’s priced around £1,149. (www.gorenje.co.uk)
Sensio launches glass shelf clip lights
If kitchen lighting isn’t something you’ve invested in, it’s not too late to add an ambient glow to cabinets. Sensio has launched the Edge LED glass clip lights to illuminate glazed kitchen wall units. In cool or warm LEDs, it’s available in 450mm lengths, fits a 6-8mm pane of glass and the diffused finish of the profile ensures that no individual diodes can be seen. It can be cut to length every 90mm and connects to a suitable driver.
Sleek stripes meet matt black in Mobalpa’s updated retro style
The Melia and Delice kitchen is perfect for bringing small spaces to life, as the combination of sleek matt black surfaces and a warming zebrano veneer will bring a contemporary look to compact kitchens. Hidden corner units create the illusion of even more space while the handless doors maintain a fuss-free streamlined look. Prices start at £7,000. (www.mobalpa.co.uk)
Quooker unveils flexible 3-in-1 tap
Flex is a new tap from Quooker, which delivers instant boiling, warm and cold filtered water with a pull-out flexible hose for accurate delivery of water flow. Priced from £1,150, it’s aimed at making safety a priority as boiling water will not deliver when the hose is in use, thanks to its unique safety device. It has a push and turn handle and LED light, twin-walled construction for cool-touch design and an aerated spray.
Dualit’s New Neutral collection for iconic Classic toasters
In collaboration with colour and trend forecaster Anna Starmer, Dualit has launched a new collection of toasters inspired by the world we live in, organic materials, found objects and treasured items. The range comes in four colours – Porcelain, Feather, Shadow and Powder, perfect for a pared-back, sophisticated look. The two-slot design costs £149.50 and the four-slot, £195.
Belgian brand Novy is new to the UK market
Entering the UK market for the first time this July, premium Belgian brand Novy has been a leading manufacturer of advanced extraction technology for over 50 years and now we can benefit from its ONE space-saving appliance that sits flush-mounted within the worksurface. Combining energy efficient induction technology with noise efficient downdraft extraction, this two-in-one hob with integrated extractor silently rises up to two levels when it automatically detects pans on the hob. In black opaque glass, it has four zones and an automatic bridge function and costs around £3,489.

Hyperallergic: Strong Solo Booths, Leo Lookalikes, and Plenty of Trends at Frieze New York
In the aisles at Frieze New York 2017 (all photos by the author for Hyperallergic)
Now in its fifth year, Frieze New York is diversifying. Though the 2017 edition of the London-based mega-fair has all your typical trappings of blue chip collectors’ mall — vintage Mike Kelley from Skarstedt, new Anish Kapoor sculptures from Lisson Gallery, fresh Llyn Foulkes from Sprüth Magers, massive Nick Caves from Jack Shainman, a bounty of Carol Boves at David Zwirner, “provocative” Elmgreen & Dragset installations from Massimo De Carlo — there are also plenty of surprises. The most bizarre may be one of this year’s commissioned Frieze Projects, by the Swiss artist Dora Budor, who has hired actors resembling Leonardo DiCaprio to traipse around the tent dressed as some of the actor and collector‘s most famous characters. (Another of this year’s commissions, a dazzlingly surreal animated dream journal by Jon Rafman, is uncannily incredible for very different reasons.)
Dora Budor’s Frieze Project “MANICOMIO!” (2017) consisted of hiring actors who resemble Leonardo DiCaprio to walk around the fair dressed as his characters from Catch Me If You Can, The Wolf of Wall Street, and The Revenant
The booths themselves hold plenty of unexpected treasures, too. The most startling may be the stretch of spaces showing pre-Modern, non-Western art. Paris’s Galerie Meyer, for instance, has a stunning array of spirit boards from Papua New Guinea: traditional objects that were typically arranged in shrines in large communal houses. A little farther down the central aisle, Donald Ellis Gallery has a stunning and eclectic display of native and indigenous artifacts, including Plains Indians ledger drawings, wooden sculptures, and ritual objects from the Pacific Northwest.

A raven rattle from either the Tlingit or Tsimshian people of southeast Alaska and Northern British Columbia (c. 1870) in the Donald Ellis Gallery booth
As is often the case at such enormous fairs, the strongest booths tend to be those devoted to a single artist, and there are plenty of examples of this at Frieze, including a standout coterie of women artists. A personal favorite is Simone Subal Gallery’s presentation of works by the late Pop artist Kiki Kogelnik, whose playful and bold paintings and sculptures do not seem to have aged a day. San Francisco’s Anglim Gilbert Gallery is showcasing similarly playful but far more loosely rendered paintings by Judith Linhares. Michael Rosenfeld Gallery is also showcasing a pioneering woman artist whose work has only gained in gusto: its booth of metal and steel sculptures by Barbara Chase-Riboud is not to be missed. Nearby, Kobe-based Gallery Yamaki Fine Art is showing a spread of Kimiyo Mishima’s incredible ceramic sculptures, which she silkscreens to make them look like paper goods, including newspapers, manga comic books, packaging, and cardboard boxes.

Two of the standout painters of the current Whitney Biennial also have solo booths at Frieze. David Kordansky Gallery is showing a new set of Tala Madani‘s irreverent and scatological scenes, which perfectly nail the diffuse lighting effects and colors of a bleary club night. Glasgow-based gallery Mary Mary is showing three new large paintings by Aliza Nisenbaum that depict domestic scenes layered with narrative details.

To be sure, there are standout solo booths by male artists, too. The most prominent, due to the sheer scale of his portrait paintings, may be Alfred Leslie, whose work is on view at Bruce Silverstein’s booth. His enormous triptych painting “Americans, Youngstown, Ohio” (1977–78) is an ambiguous monument to a very specific yet somehow universal time and place in modern US society. Nearby, Kayne Griffin Corcoran is showcasing the impressive and eclectic oeuvre of seminal Japanese artist Tatsuo Kawaguchi. The works on view range from colorful abstract paintings and mirrored tabletop sculptures to wall-mounted configurations of vinyl, acrylic, and resin that evoke Eva Hesse. More singular in approach is the work of the late Cuban American artist Felipe Jesus Consalvos, whose inimitable and precise collages can be found in the Fleisher/Ollman booth applied to guitars, stools, chairs, mirrors, garbage cans, and more conventional flat surfaces too. Another artist whose aesthetic evokes the single-minded labor of the stereotypical outsider artist, Étienne-Martin, is being shown by Paris’s Galerie Bernard Bouche. The sculptor’s rough-hewn and loosely figurative assemblages of plaster, wire, wood, and found materials are instantly engrossing and pulse with inner life. In Casey Kaplan’s booth, two sculptures by Kevin Beasley also possess inner life, although for much more obvious reasons: The sculptures, made from colorful dresses and kaftans coated in resin, conceal speakers that play back ambient noise from microphones hidden around the fair. Snippets of conversations and half-heard words emerge from the hoods, suggesting a ghostly presence.

Naturally, there are plenty of worthwhile works beyond Frieze’s solo booths; you just have to sift through lots of forgettable art to find them. Or they’ll stop you in your tracks as you stroll by — such was my experience of a very large new graphite-on-paper triptych by Kara Walker, “Securing a Motherland Should Have Been Sufficient” (2016), which dominates the Sikkema Jenkins & Co. booth. The cinematic and enigmatic scene, which shows an act of either valor or betrayal, seems to reflect Walker’s increasingly fantastical interests. Another showstopper, though of a decidedly more playful sort, is Anton van Dalen’s “The Pigeon Car” (1987), which anchors PPOW Gallery’s booth devoted to members of the East Village art scene of the 1970s.

In addition to the aforementioned works, Frieze is ripe for contemporary art trendspotting. Some are not particularly surprising, like a prevalence of rainbow-hued works and several appearances by the new and most recent US presidents. However, walking the aisles during Thursday’s preview, I was struck by the prevalence of two types of works: text-based art, much of it incorporating neon lights or vinyl letters applied directly to the booth walls, and artworks incorporating or consisting entirely of more or less untreated rocks. Both, it seems to me, are emblematic of the desire for a kind of permanence and site-specificity, features of contemporary art that are inherently incompatible with the nomadic and ephemeral nature of art fairs. Even so, the writing’s on the wall: This year’s Frieze New York rocks.
Lee Ufan, “Relatum” (2016) in the Lisson Gallery booth
Richard Long, “White Onyx Line” (1990) in the Cardi Gallery booth
Park Hyunki, “Untitled (TV Stone Pagoda)” (1982) in the Gallery Hyundai booth
Lee Seung-taek, “Tied Stone” (1980) in the Gallery Hyundai booth
Sculpture by Jose Dávila in the Travesía Cuatro booth
Waltercio Caldas, “Escultura para todos os materiais não transparentes” (1985) in the Galeria Raquel Arnaud booth
Julian Charrière, “Metamorphism XXXXI” (2016) in the Sean Kelly booth
Jose Dávila, “Joint Effort” (2017) in the Sean Kelly booth
Solange Pessoa, “Sem título, da série Caveiras” (2016) in the Mendes Wood DM booth
Stefan Brüggemann, “ALLOW ACTION (…)” (2017) in the Parra & Romero booth
Gerd Stern, “NO OW NOW, USCO, Two Mantras” (1966–70/2017) in the Carl Solway Gallery booth

A Rare Breed: Japanese Spec Porsche 959 receives the best detail and paint protection film
This world-class example of the Porsche 959 has been to us once before for an extreme makeover with paint correction. This time she's back to go under the knife, literally! This Japanese spec 959 with just 9000km (6000 miles) was custom fitted with Xpel Ultimate Plus paint protection film, the premier clear bra that offers a 10 year warranty against yellowing, and also provides superior rock chip and scratch protection.
Typically with modern vehicles, there is a pattern available through software that plots the pattern for each vehicle to utilize the film and make for easier installations. However, this car had to be wrapped custom with no plot, so it was crucial to ensure every edge, corner and body line was meticulously planned to optimize coverage and aesthetic. Once completed, the 959 was protected with Ceramic Pro. This is a nano-layer of protection which provides enhanced gloss, additional UV protection, and ease of cleaning for years to come on this ultimate automotive icon.
