“THAT fucking tweet wasn’t supposed to blow up,” you groaned into your pillow, brows furrowing in irritation the more you thought of… Oikawa’s friends seeing said tweet. You turned around, back on the bed as you rested one hand on your forehead, contemplating on making a private account, for the sake of your sanity. “Yeah, I really should,” you mutter to yourself, taking a deep breath before sitting up on your bed.
You remember one of them replying to your tweet with “oh so he lied”. Scrunching your nose, you rub your face with your hands, an attempt to make those thoughts go away. But… you were (still are) curious as to what he meant.
Lied.
Well, he lied about one thing that’s for fucking sure— then again you also had a fault in your considerably broken, yet also numb heart.
Loud, constant knocking was heard from your apartment door. Your eye twitched, the loud noise making you even more irritated. Funny how your sadness turned into irritation towards everything— to yourself especially. Maybe because you there was a part of you that knew that as much as the two of you were in love back in high school, it was, well— high school. Keeping yourself in that little bubble of hope that he would come back, blindly avoiding the warnings.
As a result, this is what happened.
High school was just some stupid fucking fantasy. No way in hell someone would actually come back for the person they made a promise.
You shake your head, grumbling something incoherent as you stood up and walked over to your apartment door. You peeked through the little peep-hole on the door, seeing sunshine incarnate smiling and waiting patiently for you to open the door, his boyfriend scrolling through his phone, a blond man with a sour expression on his face, and two knuckleheads banging on your door like they were about to die.
You snorted to yourself, unlocking the door. Nishinoya and Tanaka busted through, falling and meeting the floor face first with a dull thump. Kageyama snickered, Hinata’s face shows genuine concern, while Tsukishima clicked his tongue, a sly smirk on his face. You giggle as Noya and Tanaka immediately stand straight back up.
“Y/N, ARE YOU OKAY? DO YOU WANT US TO BEAT THAT FUCKER–“ You silence Tanaka with a gentle flick of your fingers on his forehead.
“Nah,” you answer plainly, closing and locking the door when Tsukishima walked in.
“BUT HIS FRIENDS WERE SAYING SHIT ABOUT HIM LYING–“ you silence Noya the same way you did Tanaka; a flick on the forehead.
“I don’t wanna think about that right now.”
You really didn’t. Your face wasn’t in the greatest condition because of last night’s crying session; puffy eyes, red cupid bow and nose. Add the excruciating headache you experienced when you woke up, thankfully it was gone now. The last thing you needed was another crying session.
The last thing you needed was you, sulking and crying at every mention, or even a mere thought of him.
“As much as I agree with Tanaka-san, we’re here to hangout with her– not pester her about the details of what happened,” Tsukishima states.
You smiled at Tsukishima, grateful for his understanding. Hinata and Kageyama nodded in agreement with Tsukishima (which was quite rare, and always quite the sight for both you and Tsukishima— Tsukishima especially). “Tsukishima’s right!” Hinata exclaimed.
“One hangout coming right up then!” Tanaka gave you a toothy grin before heading to your kitchen. “You gonna scavenge my fridge, Tanaka?” you called out.
“Baka, I’m putting in your favorite milk tea for you to drink later!”
Your lips formed a soft smile, tension in your body going away at the sight and gestures your best friends give you.
They were always with you through thick and thin. When you were in your third year in high school, you decided to transfer to another school, being in Seijoh made your uneasy ever since Oikawa and the other third years graduated.
Karasuno was, in a way, a fresh start for you. You managed to befriend Tanaka and Noya, befriending the other second and third years in the volleyball club. You weren’t really a manager per say, you just watched their training and chatted with them, walking home with Tanaka and Noya.
They made your third year (and last) of high school one of the best years of your life. Graduating was bittersweet for you, even more when everyone in the club started crying and hugging each other.
Ever since, the friendship circle you were in back in your third year slowly started falling apart, the others going abroad or moving somewhere else for their jobs, living their own lives.
The five currently in your apartment were the ones that stayed.
You heard a loud, exaggerated gasp in your kitchen. Both Tanaka and Noya jumped in front of you, holding two containers of cotton candy, their expression was like of a child's enthusiasm. You laugh at their antics, nodding your head for the green light.
You walk into your bedroom to see Kageyama cuddling Hinata, the latter talking to Tsukishima about dinosaurs. Tanaka and Noya shoved themselves on your bed, Tanaka accidentally separating Kageyama and Hinata. Kageyama immediately pouted, grumbling as he looked away. Hinata rolled his eyes before telling Tanaka to change places with him.
Dorks, you thought to yourself.
A smile crept on your face as you walked over to your bed.
Your dorks.
