decided to color in a doodle from a few months ago of devin beefing with her dad. devins dad is still angry about her leaving grizzleheim to learn storm magic while devin is mad at him for trying to force her into being a fire wizard. they do not see eye to eye!!!!!!!!!!!!

hi okay one time i mentioned that devin is the second oldest child of Gath Duskwraith, the wolf leader. Gath is very proud about his fire magic skills and even more proud that his oldest daughter, Freya, decided to follow in his legacy and become another wolf leader who specializes in fire.

As the second oldest, Devin's destiny was to also study fire magic and become the wolf pack's fire mage. She was to pour herself entirely learning into becoming a fire master and teaching the younger wolves in the pack how to master it themselves.

Dev very much had other plans. They butted heads with Gath as she became a young adult and Gath told her it was time to begin her fire studies. Dev was vocal about how she was a storm wizard at heart, and Gath saw this as her turning her back on ancient wolf pack traditions and did not take it well. everyone is having fun forever

After Gath became increasingly aggressive about Dev needing to change her mind and embrace the destiny he chose for her, Dev decided to high tail it out of grizzleheim with her bestie Iridian and off to ravenwood they went! Dev learned storm magic and was having an awesome time

until it was time to go back to mirkholm keep while doing all the grizzleheim quests. Confronting her father for the first time in over a year, and then having to fight him, was not as awesome.

When dev was still young, she and gath had a wonderful bond and she truly did love him, but ever since her fathers let a legacy dev didnt even want cloud his judgement of her, devs not so sure if she still does i love it when family is joyful and happy smiles forever

Wood/Woodie/Woodrow (species: construct, by @aberrantparadox, art by @/kurofae)

"Woodrow isn't a human, and Woodie isn't a person, though they do like to roleplay as one. Are they cool? What are they? They aren't even sure. Woodie, Woodrow.... they're not even the being's names, simply names extrapolated from the common answer they give to the question of they are ("....uhm....I'm wood"). They're human shaped but not human looking, with a human heart but not human emotions, they're a machine in a literal sense but also a metaphorical one as they do do their duty as told, but they're also doing it of their free will - theyre certainly a thinking person but they aren't. It would be wrong though to say they're looking for real personhood, though, or to be utterly rid of personhood also - they're searching for something beyond that, and beyond the spiral too, they think. Something like the jungle of stardust they always see in their "dreams".

There's the factual part - as in, they're a wood mannequin made by Merle Ambrose to fight off Malistaire and other threats. Well, they're actually just plucked from Golem Tower and altered. Their concept was brought up before Malistaire went rogue, and then abandoned. Woodie is the golem, and the magic possessing it, and the heart of the fallen champion of Bartleby, and the heads. He is also none of these at any given time. It isn't his heart - it lives in their chest cavity with all their gears, things that belong to them, indubitably, and is theirs, as much as their heads are or aren't.

Their heads - each professor made a different swappable head distinctly tuned to their school of magic, so that their new champion could perfectly and easily master all the schools. They're necessary to channel the magic inherent in other tools, for someone/thing who otherwise has no magic within them. Each head feels different to use for Woodrow, gives different consequences and a different mindset, but the spirit doesn't become different beings, unless you define a being by its personality and magical energy - a common definition. Woodrow leaves it open. They can see out of any of the heads, or all at the same time, having 7-fold (and eventually 9-fold) vision. They don't need any attached to their body to move, think, or function, but they do need them to cast spells, and when in the field its better to keep at least one head attached just in case. Their weird sight also lets them see stranger things, like invisible beings, currents of magic, and other phenomena. They can't gape at any of that though, because they don't have a face, and they wouldnt anyway, because they came into the world that way and none of this is surprising. But it is a bit lonely.

Feelings are difficult when youre made of wood and don't have human sensations. Most emotions Woodie experiences are muted and overlaid with boredom or a sort of diffuse nothingness. But occasionally they do feel something properly, and that is the most vast thing in the world to them. They deeply care about other beings and will readily use violence to keep the majority safe. They're unsympathetic to those who hurt others out of hurt, but aren't cruel. Every being, secure in their self, breathing with lungs and gills and magic, even the evil ones, are a wonder to Woodrow, and like the person who once had his-but-not-his heart, protecting those beings in their perfect imperfection - just to look at them - just to look at them, it's everything, just to look at them...."

"SOMETHING IS FUCKING WRONG WITH THEM <3 They are not the young wizard, but they are accompanying the young wizard on her journey and making her worse. Blossom is very lovely and sweet and they know sooo much about the spiral and how to get Cersei out of this mess, they promise (<- LYING LYING LYING LYING). Their guidance trapped her into the route of having to kill Malistaire even after all her work to try to find a peaceful resolution. They are feeding on her despair. All their actions are so subtle in the way they push her to her own doom that she has no clue it's happening. She is so alone in this journey, but it's alright. Blossom is there with her. They'll keep her safe. They'll always be by her side. They're always there."

A little more about each one under the cut!

The order of oldest to youngest goes: Freya, Devin, Hagen, Ormund, Thyla

The siblings (and their 30 other brothers and sisters) are all children of Gath Duskwraith (canon character who you fight in Grizzlehiem) and Solveig Frostshield (another oc)

Its mentioned in the drawing but Freya and Hagen are fire wizards (like Gath), Ormund and Thyla are Ice wizards (Like Ingrid). Devin is the only one in their entire family who is a storm wizard which is part of why she left grizzleheim

Freya, as the oldest, is destined to take over Gath’s position as Wolf Leader. She takes her responsibilities very seriously  and easily has the most physical strength out of her siblings.

Hagen and Ormund work as scouts in mirkholm keep and are training to become warriors. They work closely together and love fighting grendels whenever they try to invade

Thyla is training to become a healer. She is mentored by Ingolf Wolfheart (an npc from a sidequest about healing in mirkholm keep) and likes keeping the peace whenever she isn’t too busy fighting with her siblings

Before she left Grizzleheim, Devin was studying to be a mage and second in command/backup to Freya in case a tragedy befell her. Dev was supposed to study fire magic and teach it to others in the wolf pack once she mastered it, but she ended up becoming a storm wizard and left her home to go study at ravenwood! oops!

9. How do monsters see your wizard?

So! iri and dev both often wear human disguises to get around the spiral, its like a form of moon magic. monsters dont see them/dev as anything out of the ordinary for the most part, just some pesky wizard getting in the way. however dev has adhd (just like me fr) and she and iri both forget to throw the disguises on more often than theyd like to admit. in those moments, monsters are surprised to see a wolf from grizzleheim challenging them to a battle

bonus : my friend asked how specifically jackall feels about dev because we are right now in the middle of writing a crack fic where our ocs go on a quest to save nick jonas and they have to get jackalls rabies potion in part to do so

dev (and iri) have fought jackall twice and he did not appreciate them meddling with his plans either time. they absolutely obliterated him in battle both times and there wasnt enough left of him to fill a matchbox so i would say he doesnt particularly like either of them much. here you go steph i hope this was an adequate answer for you

14. How would your wizard and Nolan Stormgate feel about eachother?

nolan... when i was a kid I didnt like his attitude so im going to say that dev doesnt like nolans attitude. nolan doesnt really care about dev since theyve only seen each other like 2x but they will give each other a side eye if they see each other in cyclops lane

25. What are your wizard’s family like? How do they influence your wizard?

Dev has a big family! she is one of gath duskwraith's oldest kids, specifically being part of his first set( / litter???) of children. he has like 10 sets of kids and around 80+ children in total. The man is building an empire. Dev is really only close with her siblings from her litter but she loves all her family. However, she is one of the only wolves in grizzleheim, much less in her family, to have pursued storm magic, with most of her family aligning themselves with fire or death magic. Because of this, Dev left to go to ravenwood to really learn storm magic! But she tries to visit home when she can
