Okay this is for all the Dutch fans apologists who played RDR1 first
See I didn't play the first game so when I first played Red Dead Redemption 2 of course I knew it was a sequel to something or whatever the case may be but I didn't know it was actually a prequel but I went on to play the first game first and after I was done is when I went to venture off to see what the first one was about I watched the game play but I never played it one day I'll get around to playing it. But I want to know what his fans thought when they first got to see him in this prequel. What was your first thoughts on how well put together he was compared to how he looks in the first game. I would like to believe you are really impressed with how good he looked. I mean he's still kind of got something there even in the first game is still something about him that I still find handsome for some reason even in his sunken state is something about him that just pulls you in I don't think the first one get enough love I actually like the first Dutch that we get to see. My opinion doesn't change about him either way.
Once I reached watching the cutscenes from the first game after I finished the second game it really broke my heart to see what became of him. As much as me being a biggest fan of his I never brought myself to fully cry about him dying maybe it's because to this very day I'm still in shock by how he just went out maybe I don't cry over him dying even though it was very tragic it simply because he went out like a g he went out on his own terms he said in the first game that they would never catch him and you know what they never did. I would like to believe that they wanted to kill him themselves but he wasn't going to give them the satisfaction. So he deleted himself out of the game he was good as dead anyway so what difference did it make? I guess he figured he wasn't going to give his enemies the satisfaction.
Even though I didn't cry like a little bitch like I did when Arthur and John died it doesn't mean that it didn't hurt any less. Maybe a part of me really doesn't want to believe that he took his self out though. I don't know why out of all three of them is the one I just have the hardest time coming to terms with maybe someone in the fan base can help me with that.😅

My boy Charles for the ask about a character thing ☺️
How I feel about this character
I feel exactly how everybody else does; we love him. Charles is an angel, he’s just so god damn pure and wholesome. I can’t pick ANY flaws in him!!!
All the people I ship romantically with this character
Obviously Charles/Arthur. They’re not a ship I chase after, but I do enjoy the content that appears on my dash. If I could write Charles in character then I’d deffo have a go at writing a fic for them!
My non-romantic OTP for this character
God, I loved seeing John, Charles, Uncle, and Sadie in the epilogue. Like I feed off those missions, and it would have been nice to see some more direct Charles and Sadie interactions!!
I also really like Charles and Javier, like I know they go drinking together, but thats it?! :( i wanted more of that.
My unpopular opinion about this character
I’ve posted this before but damn, Charles can’t dress for shit. His main outfit is really nice, with the brown pants and blue shirt, but when Charles wears that hat? ew. I love his hoodie though!! but yeah like 70% of his outfits are... not guicci.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.
Maybe some more interactions with Dutch? I don’t really know how Charles views him. Wouldda loved him to interact with Hosea more as well, they’re deffo homies!!
I know that it’s not possible, but could you imagine if Sadie and Charles helped John track down the others in RDR1? Good lord.

some good things for today:
- got an unwelcome phone call from my uni (blahblah graduate survey stuff) and was comfortable just being like “i’m not comfortable with phone calls, sorry” and when they asked if there was any particular reason i just said “it’s personal”. i’m slowly learning to take my time responding to people instead of panic-babbling and it lets me be stone fucking cold sometimes and i LOVE it
- i was running out of sugar and i discovered that in the cupboard there is not only another sugar packet with about a dozen teaspoonsfull left in it, but there is ANOTHER, UNOPENED sugar packet behind it that i don’t remember buying but am glad to have
- i’ve been sketching more often both on paper and digitally lately since there’s fuck all else to do and tbh it’s nice to just like... create something again even when it’s just for me and no one else
- been looking through a bunch of rdr blogs and rediscovered how much i g-ddamn love rdr1 john marston kldfnjdfn I MISS HIM

i would kill for you
the character i least understand: tbh this is like black sails all over again; the characters are way too well-written and we have a lot of their backstories and most of their motivations etc, and everything is internally consistent. there’s no-one i can think of that i Don’t Get or that i have lingering questions about really - though i guess we don’t know shit about Annabelle beyond that she was loved by Dutch at some point, so maybe her.
interactions i enjoyed the most: oh g-d there’s SO MANY... i really loved any interactions between arthur and hosea and/or dutch, those just delight me, especially hosea.
the character who scares me the most: dutch for sure. it’s fucking terrifying watching him sail right off the deep end by chapter six.
the character who is mostly like me: uhhHH well, marston and i share the following: a name (give or take an h), orphanhood, scottish ancestry, childhood trauma, bad coping mechanisms and emotional constipation, and being funny as fuck, so there’s that.
hottest looks character: oh eagle flies for sure, he’s SO fucking handsome. i’m not really Attracted To Him(TM) the way i am to some other members, but he’s just so visually pleasing.
one thing i dislike about my fave character: i can’t really decide who my favourite is between john, arthur, dutch and hosea jkfsndkjng but john forever holds a special place in my heart because of rdr1 so we’ll go with him. i don‘t like his character model in rdr2 as much as i like the one in rdr1, better graphics be damned. he just doesn’t look like himself, you know??
one thing i like about my hated character: i don’t really have a hated character as far as i can remember? like obviously i hate micah, we all hate micah, but i still like him as a character. i REALLY like his actor’s acting of him and the horrible drawl he has going on, as well as the subtle body language fuckery he has.
a quote or scene that haunts me: oh, g-d. the “insists” scene, the “aw, arthur needs a rest” scene, and on a more positive note, “take a gamble that love exists, and do a loving act”.
a death that left me indifferent: unfortunately, lenny ): not because i didn’t care that he’d died but because it came RIGHT after hosea’s death and was so shocking and in the middle of everything that i couldn’t really like, react to it emotionally. it’s not TRUE indifference since i of course cared about it later, but at the time i was just like “WELP, SORRY LENNY, STILL GRIEVING HOSEA HERE”.
a character i wish died but didn’t: whoever that fucking awful colonel was. actually pretty much just everyone that had anything to do with what was being done to the wapiti tribe.
my ship that never sailed: dutch/hosea of course, but i mean, that’s pretty much as canon as you’re going to get ksjdfnjfng. i don’t think i really have any ships i’m super into aside from that.
