Well, you can always change your mind... After much more experimenting I realized that my photos taken at a small aperture became waaay oversharpened with my selected settings. The final solution was to create a hybrid setting out of everything I like. I have still not touched the highlight, shadow, color chrome or wb shift settings and this works with all the original film simulations, so in my mind I’m still using the defaults. Final settings: White balance: 5600K Sharpening: -2 Noise reduction: -2 Film simulation: Any Grain: None Highlight: 0 Shadow: 0 Color chrome: Off WB Shift: None The result is extremely film like, but not an emulation of a specific film, but rather an optimized mix. You can surely add some grain if you like and any setting will work fine. I often need a clean look, so I opted to have it off as default. This shot was taken with the above settings using classic chrome as film simulation. It’s rather amazing what you can accomplish with only minor adjustments!
