"I need to protect what's mine."
Tumblr media
PAIRING: Neteyam te Suli Tsyeyk'itan x fem!omatikaya!reader.
SUMMARY: While hunting with Neteyam you encounter a dangerous predator, your beloved wanted to keep you safe.
WARNING(S): none?
AUTHOR'S NOTE: Okay, so that's my first work and I hope it's great. If you guys want me to write something just tell me and I will do it.
𖹭
You were with Neteyam hunting in the forest. You made a bet on who would kill an animal first. Neteyam says he will do it, but you also insist that you will win.
After a few long minutes, when nothing appeared in your sight, you thought you couldn't win anymore. However, you heard a small rustle (which fortunately the boy standing behind you didn't hear). The leaves of the bush moved slightly and then a medium-sized animal ran out from behind them.
You nocked your arrow, aimed the right point and shot. The creature fell to the ground, bleeding profusely from the wound where the arrow was stuck.
"Ha! Ftue!" you let out a scream of joy and turned to Neteyam. The boy turned with raised eyebrows, immediately landing his gaze on the lying animal.
Despite the fact that you won, a sincere smile bloomed on his face. He held his bow in his left hand and cupped your cheek with his right hand, stroking your cheek gently with his thumb. "You did it." he laughed.
"I know. I can't wait to tell Kiri. Her older warrior brother, lost to his less experienced girlfriend" you laughed showing your fangs and your hand landed on his chest gently nudging him.
His smile faded as he stared at the spot behind you. He stood still with his hand on your cheek. You wanted to turn around to see what he was looking at, but his grip on the cheek made it impossible.
"Do not move." he whispered, making eye contact with you. "Will you do something for me?"
"Teyam what is this?" you asked, frowning. You didn't understand what he meant.
"You have to get out of here, okay? Run straight to the village." he replied with a stern expression on his face. You thought he was making fun of you and pushed his hand away to see if there was actually something behind you. And it was.
In the place of trees, leaves and bushes stood Thanator. He stood there completely still, calmly watching you. So the earlier animal run, sensing danger in the distance.
"Kä" he said grabbing your arm and turning you towards him. "Kehe" you whispered nervously as you nocked an arrow to your bow.
A stupid order on his part, of course there was no way you would leave him alone with this creature. True, he was a very good fighter, almost like his father, but the Thanator was a deadly threat.
You wanted to turn around and aim an arrow at the animal, but you flinched as the creature roared loudly heading straight for you two.
Maybe it wasn't very logical, but the boy pushed you to the side, so that you fell off a small rock. He nocked his arrow aiming straight at him. For a moment you thought that Thanator was running straight at you, but after a while you realized that he was heading straight at Neteyam.
You couldn't control your thoughts. You must have done something or Neteyam has little chance against this huge creature. You didn't have your bow because it fell off when you fell. So you decided to get his attention.
You jumped like a slingshot and howled loudly, meeting the nervous gaze of the boy who was nodding his head from side to side in incomprehension. But it worked, the animal focused on you. You started running as fast as you could. You avoided trees, branches and bushes, jumping every now and then.
But thanator was dodging everything easily catching up with you. You had to confuse him or he'll get you. You saw a tree whose roots protruded quite high and created a not very durable shelter.
But they might have helped you gain a few seconds advantage on the animal. In the blink of an eye, you jumped into the hole, banging your back against the ground. You hissed in pain as the animal in the meantime began to break through the roots with its huge paws.
Fatal mistake. There was only one side exit, but he would have sensed you and noticed you. You had no choice, Neteyam wasn't around and the roots were starting to break from the weight of the animal.
You crawled out of the hole, but Thanator had already sensed what you were doing and ran around the tree, finding you. You thought you had no chance seeing his mouth wide open roaring at you.
However, before he could do anything, an arrow flew into his mouth, wounding him deeply, causing him to immediately fall to the ground.
You had your hand on your chest with shock written all over your face. You turned around and saw Neteyam standing a few feet away.
When he saw you were scared, he ran to you and took your face in his hands. "Are you okay? Did he hurt you?" he asked, checking you from head to toe. "Kehe" you gasped as you made eye contact with him.
His gaze was concerned and warm. You stood on your tiptoes and pressed your lips together in a deep kiss. Neteyam grabbed your waist with one hand and grabbed your back with the other, whereupon you broke the kiss and hissed in pain.
"What? Let me see" he spun you back then his eyes landed on the bloody nape of your neck. When you fell into the hole, you must have cut yourself on one of the sharp branches.
"I'm fine." You turned to him slightly annoyed. "And you're not. You wanted to be alone with Thanator and tell me to go to the village? That was crazy." You changed the subject and stared at him angrily, which made him chuckle pulling you closer to him.
"I need to protect what's mine." he said stroking your head. "Right? I could handle him, you were crazy to get his attention."
"Mhm, I have to protect what's mine too, Teyam." You repeated his words, smiling widely.
"Okay, let's go, we need to dress your wound." he said, looking out of the corner of his eye at the animal that was already dead. He grabbed your hand and you walked towards the village.
"Irayo Si, Neteyam." you looked at him. To which he looked back.
"Irayo Si, Y/n."
𖹭
Ftue - easy, simple.
Kä - go.
Kehe - no.
Irayo Si - thank, give thanks, thank you.

You've said before that modern games, even single player, will track player data. What sorts of things are actually logged? What do you think are some of the things players would least expect to be tracked?
Tumblr media
We mostly track all the things that players choose to interact with. This means where they go, the things they spend time looking at, the NPCs they talk to, the things they buy, the recipes they craft, the menus they spend time in, the characters they romance, the gear they like to use, and so on and so forth. You know how achievements often require a bunch of very seemingly-arbitrary conditions to meet, like visiting Calendar Man at several major holidays in one of the Batman Arkham games? A good rule of thumb is that if we can check for it for an achievement, we're probably tracking it. We spend a huge amount of time and effort tracking all that information because we want to know what the players are spending their time doing in order to figure out what kind of new content we think they will like.
Tumblr media
I think most players don't really understand how much tracking we do for UI/UX. We spend a lot of time and effort to track things like how many players don't continue beyond a certain point in order to figure out how we can make things smoother and easier for players to get to the fun bits. A huge amount of effort is spent tracking, analyzing, and interpreting data from the First Time User Experience (aka the FTUE), because we all want players to keep playing and not drop the game after the first few minutes.

Yk for a Life main you sure like writing about the Death Dudes TM
Not that I'm complaining lol
What can I say? I love the Death Dudes (TM)! Especially Duncan. There's a lot to him that can be explored - not that the other students are the same way, however they don't have the same VIBE Duncan does, both pre- and post-FTUE. You really have to try hard with, say, Ceren Nightchant or Mindy Pixiecrown, to infer what their motivations/goals are beyond their brief appearances. Duncan just comes out the gate swinging full force: I WANT MALISTAIRE BACK AND IF HE'S HURT YOU'RE DEALING WITH ME!!! Duncan has so much potential, he's really fun to make stuff up for (even if it's a little... ahem, saj or angsty).
Which makes bouncing him off the kind, caring, and determined Malorn all the better. How I write him, he's both Duncan's friend and also his conscience, always trying to steer him down the right path. Malorn doesn't want his friend to spiral, but he also has to learn that he can't just solve someone else's issues himself. If he wants to be a Professor, he has to learn how to guide even the most unwilling of people out of their darkness. With this type of pairing, they make for decent foils.
Besides, I think they'd just be close friends always there for each other at the end of the day, no matter what :)

the way the wizard city FTUE update quickly flops between "malistaire was loved by his students!" and "malistaire was actually evil all along according to various npcs because they had a "bad feeling" about him" you can tell someone on the writing team does not like this guy.

Hey! Just wanted to say I’ve recently read your ‘Forever Onward, Scion,’ series, and absolutely loved it.
I’ve been playing Wizard101 since I was ten years old, and your series perfectly encapsulates the reason I still find myself pulled toward the game, despite the repetitive combat. My aching love for the young wizard, the complicated characters that are the Drake brothers and Morganthe, the way the game’s atmosphere shifts as the wizard travels through more and more worlds of the spiral; your series has it all.
I’m a dedicated Death wizard (both because my terrible gaming skills depend on life-steal to survive, and) because I love the complexity of the wizard’s relationship with ghosts and spirits throughout the game, the lore that I made for the death spells that have you harm yourself for heals/buffs, and the added conflict of being a representative of a magic practically rejected and by Ambrose himself. But your series gives me a whole new view on Myth students and their beauty, and makes me cherish Professor Cyrus Drake even more than I already do.
I’ve bookmarked your series, and am going to be rereading it in the very near future. I genuinely felt so emotional, so glad that someone understood the young wizard in the way that you do, that I cannot wait to experience it again. Feel no pressure to work on updates or responses! I just wanted to let you know that your series means the world to me, and I hope you’re aware of just how amazing and beautiful your writing is to us readers :,)
Hey anon, I adore you, I am having a hell of a time right now and you just made my night, my weekend, and possibly my whole gods damned august.
I'm so so glad you love the scion series and that it has resonated with you so much. Wiz has been my comfort game for a very long time, I started it when I was eleven and while there have been patches here and there where I haven't played (hello three solid years I was in celestia) it's always something I come back to. Diving into it again once I was an adult (both before and after the FTUE update so I got a refresher on the original starter quests) really made me appreciate the things the young wizard is thrown into with little guidance or help.
I have such a deep fondness for the arc 1 story, for the Drake family and their struggles, for the way (As a myth wizard by virtue of Assigned Myth At Quiz Book when I was 11, hated that my professor was mean, made a life wizard, felt bad before level 5, went back to myth determined to stick it out and never stopped) that Cyrus has to walk with you the whole way through, watch you get stronger and wonder will it be enough, do i want it to be enough? Because inevitably you're going to kill Malistaire, no matter how hard he tries to end things peacefully, that will always be the outcome. (I have some mild HC-lore surrounding myth wizards as mildly clairvoyant, addressed in fic using the celestial calendar spell, but I always felt like Cyrus especially knew he couldn't stop things, no matter how much he wanted to). Cyrus Drake is so so so important to me, his trying to dissuade you in the beginning, to get you expelled, to get you out of this place where you will inevitably become a murderer by virtue of having no other choice. Having by the end, him thanking you for everything you have done for him, for the peace you've brought his brother, his sister in law, himself. His speech in the graduation quest kills me, as does the one at the end of Darkmoor.
And arc 2, while a little disjointed for me by virtue of having started it at... uh, age 18 or so, and not finishing it until literally this spring (and now I'm 26, so, it's been a minute!) hit so hard and so satisfyingly at the end that it just spurred all my ideas even further. The way Morganthe is such a product of her surroundings and the way nobody seemed to actually pay her the care she needed in order to flourish, the way that turned deadly so fast. While I know young morganthe's memories were tainted by her own emotions I cannot help but resent Ambrose all the more for them. His presence in arc 2 is that of someone sending a child off to fight a war with nothing more than a force ghost council of advice and a prophecy that might not even be true. The things the Wizard is forced to do especially once we get to Khrysalis just drive home how deeply they have been affected by what they've been through over the years. Enemies in Khrysalis start to question why you don't just ask for information, why you hit so hard, why you fight tooth and nail before speaking to them, it's because it's all they've been taught how to do. The wizard, as young as they are, is not a peacemaker, is not a diplomat, they are a soldier and a war machine for Ambrose's, and by further extension Raven's ends by this point. It hurts, and while I love a silent protagonist, I want to voice that pain.
I love love love Death YW lore as well, and yes especially as a school so prejudiced against and so pushed back on by Ambrose, not only for his own failings with Morganthe, but for his failure to the students of the Death school after Malistaire's departure. I love the wizard as someone who (in the case of a death student) has to walk this line of realizing they are the next prodigy on the universal chopping block, the next great necromancer half expected to fall off into the pit that is darkness and evil and shadow. I love them rioting against that notion, and of pushing back against Death itself being seen as a cursed school, a dark school, it is essential, just as any of the others.
All this to say, I'm so glad the series has made you feel things, and I'm glad you want to go back and experience them again <3
I'm working my way through the darkmoor chapters in between writing horribly out of order (I got a little too excited once I hit arc 3 proper and now I'm all the way in Empyrea because I haven't stopped to breathe)
Thank you, genuinely this makes me so beyond happy.

the dialogue in the FTUE states that Malistaire raised a troll (so canonically he knows conjuration) to drain the life force from it then he rose the troll as an undead creature to fight an ogre and save some students.
he used the life force from that troll to regrow a limb (it wasn’t specifically stated it was his) i thought it was actually a students limb that was lost during an altercation with an ogre, but now that i’m seeing these posts it might’ve been his. i would love to read more takes on how he might’ve lost an entire limb!
the more you know!
that’s fucking sick, do y’all think that there are hospital staffers in the spiral who specialize in amputees

Hi, I'm Pele, and I break stuff for a living, mostly, 🎮 and apps (I actually borked the FTUE (1st time user experience) in tumblr making this account by closing the app after selecting max # of tags and de -selecting 1. 🔥 bug. But I digress..
Other people then fix it so I can break it again. Hopefully, I don't, and [aaa hot game here] releases on time!!

This file is regenerated everytime you run.
All passwords will be encrypted using the randomly generated key.txt file.
inspect these files to ensure you're not doing anything dumb like importing into your production org.
work/conf/import/config.properties will be used to import data into the Destination Sandbox.
work/conf/extract/config.properties will be used to extract data from the Source Sandbox.
This will setup the work directory with your configuration:.
NOTE: if you leave the Sandbox blank then it will assume you're working with a production org ( ).
#Using sandvox extractor password#
Dest Password: your password for the destination sandbox.Source Password: your password for the source sandbox.Dest Username: you salesforce username for the destination sandbox without a sandbox prefix.Source Username: you salesforce username for the source sandbox without a sandbox prefix.Dest Sandbox: the name of the sandbox into which we will import data.Source Sandbox: the name of the sandbox from which we will extract data. You can copy variables.sh.template to get started, just make sure you change the usernames. Optional - create a file called variables.sh to place your login variables (recommended).git -version should print the version of git installed.java -version should print the version of java installed.
#Using sandvox extractor windows#
For Windows you will probably want to use the Git Bash terminal. If you're not sure what a namespace is then you probably don't have one. Note that if your destination org has a namespace then you will need to edit the conf files and add your namespace. The conf files are initally setup to extract a few fields from accounts and contacts.
Set up your account hierarchy so Parent is the parent account for Child and Child is the parent account for Grandchild.
Create three new accounts with the following names:.
Create new fields on the Account and Contact objects called External_ID_c and make them external id fields.
Add your current IP address to Network Access.
In order to run the demo you will need to do the following: I have created a few sample conf files to demonstrate this data loader. You will likely want to customize the files under conf for your own data. Under the hood these scripts use the Dataloader JAR from Salesforce.
#Using sandvox extractor update#
Sit on the Ground: A sit animation was added so users can sit and interact among each other.Īuto Climb Update Improvements: Auto-Jump feature was updated, and now lets the user auto-jump assets of 1 block, ½ block and ¼ block height.Įmotes: New Dance Animations were added to the random sections of the emotes wheel. This is a set of scripts that will extract data from one Salesforce org and import it into another. This will let the user appreciate the NFT better if needed. Walk: The user is now able to walk, by using the walk key. The user will receive a message with the appropriate collection/avatar in case it doesn’t owe one.Īvatar Navigation: New avatar navigation possibilities have been added to the gameplay.
#Using sandvox extractor download#
Loading time and asset bundle download has been improved for better user experience.Īvatar gating MVP feature was implemented into the GC. Quest Log Widget: Improvements have been made to the quest log widget to show information about the quest in a more clear way.Ī new FTUE was implemented for the season. Improvement on the Level Widge: It has a flash feedback so the user can notice when there is a change in the widget information. The loading screen background image has been changed to a default one, and the thumbnail corresponding to the experience is bigger. Loading Screen: Loading screen is showing more and better information. Multiple bug fixes have been made to stabilize the product and get some improvements in performance. Both builds are in the same state and should not present any differences. MacOS build was released with feature parity with Windows version.

Overwatch 2 Defense Matrix Explained
You may be wondering after some recent news, what is the Overwatch 2 Defense Matrix? Overwatch 2 hasn’t just changed things up when it comes to the characters, gameplay, and mechanics, as Blizzard has focused on improving the security and creating a safer community of players. Part of this is the Defense Matrix initiative, but what exactly does it include, and how will it affect players? Read on for our explainer of the Overwatch 2 Defense Matrix.
Overwatch 2 Defense Matrix Explained
When Overwatch 2 launches on October 4, it will look and feel a bit different to the original game. Not only are there new Overwatch 2 characters, mechanics, maps, and game modes, but there is also a brand-new security initiative called Defense Matrix. Some of you may recognise that name as one of D.Va’s abilities, but this goes far beyond the gameplay, as this is Blizzard’s attempt at creating a safer community for all players.
There are a few different aspects to the Overwatch 2 Defense Matrix, but one of the main goals, detailed in the blog post on the Overwatch website, is to “define, develop, and nurture programs that will ensure a positive experience for all players.” Describing it further, the blog post stated it will “ensure competitive integrity at every level of play by rapidly identifying and eliminating cheaters and disruptive players.”
Overwatch 2 Defense Matrix Features
There are a number of features new to the game as part of the Defense Matrix initiative. Firstly, is Overwatch 2 SMS protect, which requires all players to link their mobile phone number and Battle.net account to access the game.
Many of the Defense Matrix features are baked into the game itself, such as audio transcriptions, which means Blizzard can collect audio recordings of voice chat to analyse for disruptive behaviour. Another of these systems is the First Time User Experience (FTUE) which is a new introduction designed for players new to Overwatch 2 specifically.
The endorsement system has also been overhauled, with a single category in each match instead of three, and the removal of the ability to endorse enemy players. Blizzard hopes this change will make it easier for positive players to retain high endorsement levels. Competitive has a small change too, with players unable to see teammate’s ranks before a game in the hopes that people won’t pass judgement on players immediately based on their rank. Lastly, General Chat has also been removed from the game due to the frequency of disruptive behaviour that occurred.
That’s all for our explainer of the Overwatch 2 Defense Matrix, and now you have a general understanding of its purpose. If you want to know more, check out the blog post on the Overwatch website here.
We also have a primer on the Overwatch 2 battle pass, which covers how it works, and what rewards you can earn for your time.
