I love fics that have Eddie healing from the demobats in Steve's house bc it has so much potential to fuck them both up in different ways. Eddie whose not used to being cared for, Steve who cares compulsively. Eddie's discomfort being taken as a rejection of Steve's care, Steve's sensitivity to that rejection being perceived as a rejection of Eddie's personality.

And also, of course, the velcro like clingy-ness these boys would adapt by default and then get confused when everyone else looked at them funny for it.

Love that everyone can see how gay they are except Steve. Nancy is gently trying to get Steve to come out to her, Dustin is consistently having to "not in front of my salad" the 2 of them, even Eddie is going "woah man that was pretty gay. That was very nearly incredible homosexual activity we had going on there, is that what you meant to do? Did you mean to do that?"

Meanwhile Steve is fully undressing another man with no clue how it could be interpreted as a gay thing. He's just being a bro helping out another bro. He's 100% heterosexual. The reason the thought of Eddie liking men makes his heart race is because he has some homophobia to unpack, no other reason what's so ever *stares at Eddie's lips*
