my favourite things:

as a sort of get to know me post

bo burnham. i think he is very smart and puts a lot of effort into his work. admirable. stream inside (and everything else)

billie eilish. yes i know she’s problematic now or whatever but pretty girl make nice music=happy. i’ve been a fan for too long to give up. stream happier than ever.

gilmore girls. i have a strong relationship with my mom and we watch it together, it makes me very happy. i refuse to listen to any slander at all. it’s my blog and i get to pick the comfort show.

women.

anne of green gables (anne with an e). i grew up and still live fairly close to prince edward island, and she’s always been a comfort character in my life, even before i knew what a comfort character was. 10/10.

percy jackson/heroes of olympus. oh my god. i would commit various war crimes to read these for the first time, without spoilers. talk about comfort series????? jeez i love it so much. favourite characters include: literally everyone <3. specifically percy, annabeth, nico, will, and thalia,(in no specific order)

ghibli movies. i watched ponyo on repeat when i was little and now they all just make me feel nice and cozy inside.

mushrooms and toads and such. serotonin does in fact come from nature in the summertime.

vacations!!! i don’t go on many, but the vibes are unmatched. i will go anywhere with you.

movies. not obsessively but here is a list: mamma mia (1&2), the breakfast club, IT (2017+2019), coraline, literally any lighthearted halloween movie (like halloweentown, hocus pocus, corpse bride, etc) there are probably more but these are just off the top of my head.

listening to music??? i will enjoy literally anything except the generics like justin beiber, ed sheeran, like that stuff. doesn’t make my ears feel nice. but if you enjoy generics i will too because i like things other people like.

animals. if i weren’t allergic i would most definitely have millions of pets. a zoo.

crystals??? i just started learning about them, my mom has always had them everywhere but i have my own now. if you want to teach me then feel free :D

reading. mostly ya but i will read almost anything recommended to me. some favourite books of mine include: pjo/hoo, 10 things i can see from here by carrie mac, wilder girls by rory power, arc of a scythe series by neil schusterman, little women, and literally every other book i have ever read. i have no idea what a good book is i just like em.

Revisiting 80s Trends in the 21st Century

Whether you’re into it or not, 80s fashion is back and bolder than ever. It’s slowly making it’s way into pretty much every retail store, from fast fashion to high fashion. Forever 21’s window displays are more neon then ever, and Chanel is embracing the timeless power suit. Here are 8 trends you’ll surely see in recent and upcoming fashion trend reports.

1. Animal Print

I was raised on the idea that animal prints were tacky and would never come back into style. But it’s obvious now that that’s simply not the case. Fortunately, the real fur has become a lot more taboo, but faux or not, every large fashion label has experimented with this 80s trend.

2. Crop Tops

Okay, so maybe this trend never quite died, but I think it’s still worthy of a spot on this list considering how long it stayed in fashion. In fact, I’ve noticed that teenagers are even incorporating this trend into their prom dresses.

3. Power Suits

Any fashion critic will criticize me for saying Chanel was the first brand to bring back this trend, but I don’t recall any other brand releasing it before Chanel, so I’m gonna go with that. To be fair Chanel never really stopped producing the power suit since the 80s, but just recently I noticed Zara and other retailers hopping on this 80s trend.

This is probably the least common trend you'll see on the streets unless you live in Los Angeles. The other day I spotted not one, not two, but three people on Rodeo rocking this trend. I do recall Justin Beiber wearing these funky pants back when Never Say Never was still a thing, but I guess the trend is still alive. Though these pants might still be seen as another ridiculous 80s trend, they look like the most comfortable thing on this list, so hopefully, someday I’ll have the confidence to rock these out and about. For now, I think my normal sweatpants will do.

5. Fanny Packs

Shockingly I’m actually growing on the idea of fanny packs coming back in style in full blast. I keep seeing Gucci fanny packs on the street, but to my surprise, they don’t look fresh out of a Party City 80s Halloween costume. What’s great about these funky little bags is they won’t strain your arms or shoulders and you can buy them in any color or style, from high-quality leather to neon PVC.

Now, this is a trend I’m more than guilty of hopping on. Initially, the first time I tried mom jeans on I thought I’d look absolutely ridiculous. I must say if you find regular jeans to be uncomfortable, definitely invest in a good pair of mom jeans. The other day I ended up wairing them for 16 hours straight because they were so comfortable. Even if this trend were to die, I’d be the one still wearing it.

Ever since the “thrift store style” trend has boomed, every high fashion influencer has gotten their hands on a bold fur statement piece. Just like the animal print trend, it’s pretty rare to see a real fur jacket (especially since no one can afford one). Today’s furs are usually oversized and colorful to make any outfit a statement.

Once again, a trend that never really went out of fashion, but I’m starting to see this stereotypical punk-teenager trend slowly work its way into the women’s section at every major retail store. Though the older generations will always see this trend as disrespectful, the fact is that ripped jeans give outfits edge, and that is what more and more people are starting to want.

Neil Cicierega has produced another mashup album in the Mouth series, so it’s time for me to do a blind album listen.
