LEGAZPI CITY, March 11 (PIA5) – From the initial target of 100, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Bicol has recorded 500 more barangays that committed in “Oplan Ligtas na Pamayanan” (OLP) since 2019.
In the observance of the Fire Prevention Month, Fire Inspector Gerald Lavadia said that the bureau targets to rate it up by 20% for next year.
The bureau’s OLP, created in 2019, is a response for a more adoptive, comprehensive and collaborative fire protection program for all members of communities, Lavadia said.
Officer-in-Charge in the Fire Prevention Month FINSP Gerald Lavadia also encouraged all listeners of Ugnayan sa Bicol to participate in KAISA, a call-to-action to fight against destructive fire.
BFP enjoins all sectors of the society including barangay councils, small, medium and large enterprises and all other organizations, to implement these safety programs toward fire incidents.
Just this January, BFP 5 works together with Land Transportation Office 5 in launching “Oplan Iwas-Sunog sa Paglalakbay” to ensure safety of the passengers from fires onboard public utility vehicles.
Today, they have successfully finished its first virtual training among road and fire enforcers.
To safeguard the cold storage facilities of COVID-19 vaccines from any fatal ammonia leaks that could cause fire, Fire Bicol Regional Director Renato Capuz sent its directive to all local fire stations for immediate inspection of facilities.
Fire Bicol spox Aramis Balde, on the other hand, expressed his gratitude on the approved modernization plan of BFP.
Balde said, “Ito ay kasagutan sa kailangang responde sa hanay ng kabumberohan. With this program, magkakaroon po kami ng extended services tulad ambulances, widened EMS. Mas titibay pa ang ating responders, from medical to rescues (This is an answer to the needs of the fire family to better response. With this program, we will have extended services like augmented ambulances, widened emergency medical services that will be institutionalized into a competent group. Our response system will be strengthened, from medical to resues).”
Lavadia, meanwhile, said he is hoping for more improved services, adding that: “Pinapangarap din namin na magkaroon ng modernong ahensya, hindi para sa kakumportablehan namin kundi para mas lalong pag-ibayuhin namin ang aming serbisyo. Dahil moderno na ang kagamitan, modern na din ang sistema, mas lalo nating maibibigay ang tamang serbisyo sa publiko (We also desire to be an agency with modern equipment, not for our own comfort but for a more developed fire service. With modern technology and system, we will commit to heighten our service to the public).” (PIA5)

TANGUB CITY, Misamis Occidental, April 24 (PIA) - Mosubra sa 10 ektaryas nga kakahoyan ang gilamoy sa kalayo kagabii sa bukirang bahin sa brgy Salimpuno sa dakbayan sa Tangub.
Mismong si Misamis Occidental Governor Philip Tan ang misuhid sa kahimtang sa maong barangay ug gimandoan ang taga Bureau of Fire and Protection BFP ning suidad nga subayon gayud ang maong luna arun mapangitaan ug pamaagi nga di na mokuyanap pa ang maong kalayo sanglit dili naman kini kayang sudlon sa fire truck.
Gipahayag ni FINSP. Emmanuel Ragpala City Fire Marshall nga uban nila ang taga City Disaster Team ug mga lumilihok sa brgy sulod sa mosubra usa ka oras ilang gibaklay ug natultulan ang maong luna nga na sunog ila na lamang kining gipas pasan.
Nasayran nga nagsugod ang maong sunog alas 6 sa gabii ug gideklarang fire out slas 11:45 sa gabii.
Gisayangan usab nga nagtan aw sa maong sunog si ENRO Dods Tigol sanglit ang maong luna nahilakip kini sa reforestration area nga ilang giatiman diin gisugdan kini sa pagtanom ug kahoy niadtong Mayor pa si Governor Philip Tan.
Tungod niini mohimo ug inbestigasyon ang buhatan sa DENR kun si kinsa ang responsable sa maong sunog.
