I need yall to listen to this man's song. He plays it on piano but it sounds SO COOL. It's punk (is that the word? Idk music genres lmao) and there's also a shorts version that's equally as good.
Please just listen to him. I found his channel just now but honestly I love him and his songs already. They're all pretty upbeat and cool sounding and honestly he just needs more attention.
Today's song is Cut My Fingers Off, by Ethan Bortnick. He wrote this song in 2021, drawing inspiration from the Imposter Syndrome he was experiencing at the time. He began playing piano when he was 3 years old, and has continued growing in skill.
He was a prodigy, knowing over 200 songs from memory by the time he was 6 years old. He was on several talk shows and worked with people like Elton John and Beyonce throughout his career and raised over 50 million dollars for charity at concerts.
A few years ago, he decided to leave that behind and begin making his own music. Some of his popular songs are Engravings, Cut My Fingers Off, Arsonists, and Deadly Ever After.
He continues writing songs, and he is known for his mix of genres, as he put it "Blending my classical roots with alternative music with my own sounds".
Enjoy!
(sorry for the many mistakes. I tried for over two hours to record well, but this song is very difficult :(. Also, sorry for layering- i had a lot of trouble getting it to line up well, so if it seems off, that's why.)

But I'm all alone in my head, so I've married my doubts
Now I need someone to trust while I lie to myself
No strings attached, I need a thread
It's like I'm dead
well... this song stirred up so many emotions in me through the last month of the year. therapy has been going places and I've been trying to feel anger and all the things I never could before. anyways it helped me and I am real thankful for that.
2. astrid by glaive
this song is in the top 5 of my yearly recap even though I only found it in autumn. this describes how much I love it, I could listen to it all day long and never get bored of the song.鉂わ笍
3. I'm Okay I Swear by Presence
oh, this one. I have been feeling pretty low and there were tough times where I only found comfort in this one. I'm not really sure why, but I became addicted to the beat and the melody.
4. engravings by Ethan Bortnick
this one I found accidentally and was mesmerised by the first few seconds. such a special song with so much meaning behind the words.
"i'll put my hand up on your chest, so you forget your engravings"
5. too much by Softheart, guccihighwaters
this one is still on the list and I still love it to bits. I have some kind of attachment and love the lyrics so so much.
6. Miss You - Sped Up Version by Oliver Tree
I listened to some songs from my recap and fell in love with them again. this is one of the gems I rediscovered when the wrapped came out.
7. Sick of U by BoyWithUke, Oliver Tree
boywithuke stole my heart a couple of years ago and from time to time I search him up again to catch up with his songs. I love this one just as much as the others. it's quite unique and has a great vibe.
8. NDA by Billie Eilish
I found this one again after the recap and though about some crazy memories. isn't it strange that some people who were my "closest friends" and even more than that just vanished this year and we're nothing more but strangers... yeah.
9. No Wind Resistance SPED UP! by Kinneret
this is a strange concept & song but I fell for it. I listened to it almost all month over & over again. this is from the times when I first started "feeling my emotions" and somehow I find it easier to try while listening to songs that I feel a deeper connection to.
10. Happier by Marshmello, Bastille
"I want you to be happier"
I was counting down the days when we could start the holiday and get to my bf's house for a couple of days. this boy makes every single day a bit easier and gets me so well that I don't really want to spend time with other people anymore.
Today's song is arsonists by Ethan Bortnick! It sounds a little empty without lyrics (I did try to play those) and the drums/bass, but I tried my best. It's a difficult song, so please understand my mistakes馃槄
arsonists was released in October of 2022. In the song he sings "I'd kill to be an arsonist, and burn bridges without shame." He knows the relationship won't end well, and he's afraid to move on without hurting the other person or himself.
The music video for this song is interesting, to say the least. It shows Ethan himself in an empty grass field with a piano, and I believe he's burning things that remind him of the relationship. He also sets the piano on fire while he's playing, but I don't know if he actually set it on fire or not.
Hopefully you enjoy it! Again, sorry for the mistakes, but it's a hard song and I'm essentially learning it by ear so I don't have sheet music or anything, so there's most likely things that aren't in the actual song.
