toxic traits i think redacted audio characters have/used to have: listener edition!

angel - pessimistic + perfectionism, especially when it comes to the pack. They feel slightly inferior because they’re human, so when it comes to planning events like the Solstice, they want everything to be perfect but they can’t help but imagine the absolute worst. I think they also begin to spiral a little when it comes to David + the pack and them working specific events, this is bc of the Inversion.

baabe - a massive people pleaser. similarly to angel, they feel inferior to the pack because they’re human, so when asher first introduced them to the pack, baabe altered basically everything about themselves from their interests to their humor in attempt to fit in. they’re like this with other humans too. They’re a lot better now that they’ve got roots in the pack, though.

sweetheart - major workaholic + defensive. the department obviously demands a lot from its employees, so sweetheart is definitely running on a few hours of sleep and caffeine, but instead of taking breaks they can sit at a desk and do paperwork all day. they often fail to realize how damaging it is and they get snappy when people try to help them. they usually apologize afterwards cause they’re cool like that.

smartass - inflexible + slightly aggressive. they are sooo stubborn and they don’t like trying new things at ALL. They also tend to get pretty feisty when somebody challenges them on anything and they’re quick to dish out insults. and i mean they go for the JUGULAR. they’ll insult your appearance, your grammar, they’ll find your whole family tree on facebook and bring up your family issues if it means they’ll win an argument.

lovely - they’re a little too confident and they overestimate themself. lovely is tough, don’t get me wrong BUT they tend to automatically assume they can do anything. the type of person to watch ultimate ninja warrior or some shit and be like “i could do that” but they most definitely could not. i still can’t get over how vincent warned them on that mountain or whatever and they decided not to listen and immediately got their shit rocked.

bright eyes - they used to be very impulsive. they get the urge to do something? they ARE going to do it. zero forethought. after the Quinn incident, they try to think before acting more often.

honey - they used to be very dismissive. they did not prioritize closeness, affection, or intimacy in their relationships because they didn’t know how to channel those emotions. ever since being with Guy, he’s helped them a lot.

darlin/tank - oh boyyy. they’ve definitely picked up on some extreme negativity in their life, but i think one of their worst traits was their recklessness. we know darlin has a habit at throwing themself into danger head on like they’re invincible, which results in them severely injured and needing somebody to take care of them. Part of me also thinks that they struggle with empathy. in the “Confronted by Your Pack Alpha” video, darlin seemed to have a hard time understanding how David + the pack felt about them running off to go vampire hunting and they were fully convinced that they were doing the right thing by trying to “protect” everyone.

i purposely left out some listeners, like lasko’s, antons, and james’ because i have no clue what theirs would be. I also left out Cutie because we all know what their toxic trait is… oh boy.

Redacted Bois and Which K-pop Groups They’d Stan

Idk if there are a lot of K-pop+redacted fans there are out there but I made this for funsies 😋🫶🏼

David is more of a casual listener, but whenever he’s working out or doing yard work, he listens to EXO. He got really into it when he was younger and bought one of their albums. He then played it for a whole month. Angel was trying not to laugh when he accidentally played Monster on the speakers near the pool (they secretly liked it tho).

Asher definitely listens to Block B. He likes to blast their music anytime, anywhere. On the way to the grocery store? Absolutely banging to Very Good. Cooking? Accidentally burning the food to Nalili Mambo. Trying to get Babe’s attention? Passionately singing Her. He just gets really hyped when he listens to them.

Milo is secretly an aghase and could talk about GOT7 for hours if you ask him about it. He's really passionate about them and their music. Sometimes he uses Teenager or If You Do as entrance music, like sitting on the bed waiting for Sweetheart to come in. He was pretty upset when they announced that they won't be actively making music together, but he still enjoys all of their solo projects/music.

Vincent is a huge ENHYPEN stan. Their whole concept is vampires but despite that, Vincent really likes their music. He and Lovely started watching their survival show and then became obsessed with them once they debuted. He knows the point dance from each title track and learned the Bite Me partner choreo with Lovely.

Sam listens to Girls’ Generation as a guilty pleasure. He accidentally clicked on the music video for Gee back in 2008 and has followed them ever since. He was pretty embarrassed when Darlin’ caught him listening to it, but he was able to convince them to listen to it with him.

Gavin doesn’t really stan a certain group but likes a lot of solo artists, specifically Taemin, Kai, and Hwa Sa. He just feels so connected to their music and actively follows their releases. He was listening to some of their music one day, Freelancer asked what he was listening to, he showed them and they liked it too. They've definitely listened to Mmmh by Kai while making out. he is mr rover and he is coming over

Lasko doesn't listen to really big groups in the industry and instead likes the K-bands more, specifically Day6. He gets into his feels when he listens to them (especially since i hc that hes a hopeless romantic). He learned Korean just so he could sing Congratulations and Zombie even though theres an english ver.

Damien got really into SHINee in high school. He was kind of a toxic stan though 💀. He would get into fights on Twitter and (almost) physical fights at school. He would stay up until 3 am to start streaming music the moment the MVs would drop and then yell at people online to start streaming. But don't worry, he's calmed down now. He gets pretty nostalgic when Sherlock plays on shuffle.

Huxley really liked GFRIEND and supported them in any way that he could, such as streaming, buying albums, and voting them for MusicBank. He tried to show Damien their songs and played Rough but Damien wasn't really into it. He was devastated when they disbanded and Damien had to comfort him for a whole week. He's just such a wholesome girl group stan, it's adorable.

Caelum likes to dance and sing to a lot of PENTAGON and SEVENTEEN songs, even though he doesn't know what the lyrics mean. His favorite songs are Naughty Boy and Pretty U, respectively. Both groups have a lot of members, but he doesn't know all of them. He likes to watch the MVs with Freelancer and point out the few members he does know.

Elliott likes TXT's more chill songs like Fairy of Shampoo and Ghosting. He's a very relaxed fan when it comes to them. He knows all the members and their songs but isn't super active in the community or when it comes to buying merch. Whenever a new album comes out he'll listen to it for about a week and then put his favorites into a playlist. Sunshine started liking them because of him and probably asked him to make a dreamscape that was a TXT concert.

Blake isn't really into it but randomly listened to Love Scenario by iKON and cried to it after looking up the lyrics. He had it on repeat for a whole week.

Guy fell into the “I just want to know their names” trope with TWICE and BTS. He thought it would be funny if he randomly/ironically knew the members’ names and ended up being a HUGE stan of both. Bought every album, lightstick, and a lot of official merch. He’s been to a lot of their concerts and literally screams the fan chants. He biases Jin and Dahyun and has their photo cards in his phone case, as well as an RJ sticker.

Geordi saw NewJeans in a Coca-cola advertisement, decided to check out their music, and ended up really liking their music. It introduced him to K-pop and he casually listens to a lot of groups, but NewJeans is his ult. Their songs are really catchy so they end up playing in his mind 24/7, sometimes somehow mixing with the Tetris theme. He likes all of their songs but his current favorites are Super Shy and ASAP.

Okay, so you know who I’ve always thought should really be into fantasy and DnD? Asher, and since canon hasn’t yet confirmed he loves these things, you can be his introduction!

The combination of your personality types and your being a writer gives me the image of an emotional and emotionally intelligent person, which I think is a good match for Asher who is also pretty emotionally intelligent! I think your vibes would really match, and together you two could be, like, the heart of the Shaw Pack as the Beta and his mate. Also, Asher is some sort of flavor of neurodivergent, and I love making ND4ND pairs, ya know?

Your life together would be so FUN, I’m actually jealous. I think getting Asher into DnD and games would be such a treat, listening to TAZ together, helping him learn rules and the different systems, maybe putting together a campaign with Angel and Davey because Angel would be a fuckin bomb DM, I feel it in my heart. He’d also be such a lovely partner for a writer. I can very clearly imagine Asher laying his head on your lap, having you read what you’ve written that day aloud to him which functions as both a cute bonding activity but also a way for you to spot-check and edit how it reads.

For a writer who loves fantasy, OC’s, and roleplay games, Guy is a sure shoe-in for a runner-up! I think he and Asher have a lot of similarities, but I went with Asher because he struck me as a better match for an introvert. For a Lasko kinnie, I had to choose Aaron as another contender because they’re my favorite Redacted rarepair, and I’ve been meaning to write something for that shop for a while.

HCs for the D.A.M.N boys that I love so much (especially Huxley), for @thesunandmoons-blog

Gavin:

He’s gotten into the habit of baking. Especially if Freelancer has class and he has no plans for the day. They come home at least once a week to cookies all piled up on a plate. Caelum helps :)

I mentioned it before but I can see him being one of those Squishmallow collectors. They’re everywhere. He uses them as pillows when he likes to lay on the floor in poses that he tries to fluster Freelancer with.

He poses with mannequins whenever they go out shopping just because he likes to be a nuisance. The group chat gets all the selfies he takes and Damien’s half-tempted to mute the chat notifications, lol.

Lasko:

Doesn’t drive because it makes him too anxious. He’s tried to learn so many times but he just can’t. At this point he’s kinda given up on it and takes the bus or walks or bikes.

Wears shirts that are just a little too big because clothes that actually “fit” feel too tight and restricting. They have to be flowy-feeling! He can’t wear them as comfy as he wants at work though, because dress code :(

Keeps a fan on in his office all year long. It doesn’t matter how cold it is outside, he needs the cool air. Especially in summer (we know how well he tolerates heat, after his HBS video last month lol). He thinks the sound is soothing too. Dead-quiet stresses him out.

Damien (mostly going off my self-projecting HCs from last night):

Despite being Japanese and Mexican, he can only speak English. Neither parents taught them the languages their sides of the family speaks and sometimes he wishes he learned.

His favorite food is pozole, especially in winter when it’s cold outside. He likes spice and he likes heat. He’d eat it every day if he could. But only if it’s his family’s recipe, because theirs is the best.

Damien thinks glass blowing is cool. He watches YouTube videos about it all the time. If he could learn anything as a hobby, it would be that.

Huxley (our beloved):

I’ve mentioned this before but I think his moms would own a crystal shop. All his clothes smell like incense because of it and they got him into the habit of burning it a lot.

He collects little crystal carvings! His favorite is a fox made of red jasper. He carries it around with him in his gym bag for luck when he has a game :)

Obviously he has a ton of houseplants, and all of them thrive under his care. This means he’s always propagating them and keeps trying to get the others to take the little baby plants home. He gives them to his teammates, too.

And yet I STILL struggled with his design! I redesigned this ho three different times and I’m salty about it, however and I am very happy with how he came out in the end.

I love thinking about how they met in 7-Eleven. Gavin flirting with this human born Freelancer that interrupted his meal, and said Freelancer flirting back, only to turn him down when it comes to any of his sexual advances.

Mixed signals are the reason Gavin wanted to see him again, tell me I’m wrong.

Sometimes he dresses in more edgy clothing, specifically ones that cover more skin (because sometimes that dysphoria be in a silly goofy mood 🤪)

He has a raging case of resting bitch face, which is hilarious when you find out he also sneezes like a kitten.

No, but seriously, he is actually really wholesome.

Precious boy.

Just a baby.

But he can and will stab you if you threaten his loved ones, and also might have once been charged with vandalism and arson (which he insists wasn’t on purpose, but the cops wouldn’t even let him try to explain how a flaming baseball can be hit in the direction of a police office on accident)

The chains around his waist and the rings on his fingers are his weapons (also the pepper spray he keeps in his back pocket)

Helps that he can do magic though

He’s best at healing magic, because he wants to help others (especially Caelum, he would die for Caelum)

Give him chocolate covered pretzels and he will fuckin marry you on the spot

People pleaser :(( he feels guilty when others worry about him

Funnily enough, he feels like he has no friends, unless he’s around the DAMN boys, and then he’s like “oh, yeah, there they are.”

Like he has no object permanence

He constantly cracks his knuckles: an unbreakable habit that both Lasko and Damien HATE

Goes mute during depressive episodes and during/after panic attacks

It also causes him to dissociate a lot.

Gavin and Caelum try to bring him back with hugs :(

He calls Gavin Gav, babe, love, my heart, sexy, and Romeo (because he once quoted Shakespeare during smexy time and Jay will NOT let him live it down)

He is on antidepressants, and used to go to a therapist before going to DAMN

He wasn’t too sure about trying therapy again after Inversion, but he thinks it’s helping.

He’s not too sure.

Other than the actual therapist, Huxley is his therapist

He has taken it upon himself to be Caelum’s caregiver and he will fight anyone else who wants that title (including Gavin)

He goes into Mama Bear Mode REAL FUCKIN QUICK

If Vega hadn’t paralyzed him, he’d have been throwing HANDS

Gavin almost lost his life the day he mentioned empathy daemons the first time (in his second video)

Yknow, the part where he said something about teasing them (“its a little cruel, but damn if it isn’t fun.”)

Yeah, Gavin bout got his ass handed to him that day

He calls Caelum “Little Lamb”

Very physically affectionate and platonically flirty once he gets close enough to someone

He has given all the boys pet names, there is no way to escape them

None of them really mind, and if they do they will say so, however it was very funny the first time it happened.

I mean, he calls random strangers “hun” like it’s nothing, people think he’s crazy

He’s not, he’s just southern

He calls Lasko “Lasko-babe” (which was very interesting the first time)

Called Damien “hot-stuff” once (Dames did not take too kindly too it)

Obviously calls Huxley “big-guy”, but also “love” (platonically)

I imagine Gavin calling Jay so many pet names it’s almost sickening tbh

I've been imagining how the D.A.M.N crew would text so here I go

You can read this both in polycule or not, your choice

(click/tap read more if you're interested!! It's quite long and I'm not great at writing so I apologize if it's cringe)

Freelancer:

"Would you like to eat lunch together if you have the time?"

- they would use slang, and they'd shorten their words sometimes too

- sometimes they'd also use emojis

- it drives Damien insane (sometimes)

"💥💳💥💳💥💳💥 HELL YEA!!! let's just hope my professor doesn't give me extra work this time though LMAO"

Damien:

- he would use perfect grammar.

- yes that includes punctuation, capitalization, and no, he does not shorten words or use slang. (ex: "with" into "w", "LMAO", "LOL", "ngl")

- also, if you need tone indicators, he will use them for you!!

- it's kinda scary when he gets mad

- he won't hesitate to type a whole paragraph either

Gavin:

- lower case letters ✨

- "i look pretty, so the words i write must be pretty. - Gavin"

- uses grammar correctly

- I'd like to think he uses slang in a wrong way. It's up to you to think he does it on purpose to piss Damien off (like that ✨micro-wave✨ incident) or he just genuinely does not know how to use them cause I like to imagine he's not used to human stuff

- he uses the "~" at the end of certain sentences a lot

Huxley:

- he doesn't like texting, the big guy said it himself. but at least he tries his best

- he'd send voice messages instead though!! Or maybe when the question is just yes/no, he'd just reply with emojis, that works too I suppose.

- he'd definitely use videos too, cause like, I dunno, sometimes explaining things is hard yknow? so you just show'em to make it easier

- when he does text though. well- he's trying, right? definitely a lot of typos, quite hard to understand :''

Lasko:

- how does this man manage to stutter in text too

- he just types so fast man, especially if he's using a computer. speed.

- if he's using his phone, autocorrect has his back, most of the time anyway. he'd still have to correct some words but it's okay, he doesn't mind (fUCK AUTOCORRECT SOMETIMES IT CORRECTS SHIT YOU DONT WANT TO CORRECT)

- speaking of autocorrect Gavin definitely teases lasko for the words corrected if it gives a different context. but knowing Gavin, he can turn literally anything into an innuendo. like seriously he makes it out of thin air, it's comes naturally to him (que lasko throwing his phone across the room)

"guuys are you freee tgis weekend? we should go to the movies! ofcourseif you want to, i dont minnd ifyoudeclinehaha"

- if he's on computer, autocorrect doesn't have his back, but he won't have as much typos as Huxley though, so at least it's still legible.

- just one or two repeated letters, hitting the wrong keys, or forgetting to use the space bar, that's all.

Xavier:

- lowercase letters. chill man.

- only uses punctuation when needed, very laid back indeed

- does use slang, not a lot though

- emoticons, i cant explain why, just - emoticons. it just gives a friendly vibe

"guys we are meeting up tmr right? if we are still meeting up, can we go to a cafe right after? i just wanna chill w yall hehe ^^"

Okay so I'm gonna preface this by saying while we know the next audio is gonna have Damien and Huxley, and there isn’t going to be a listener, that’s all we know so far (thought someone did mention something about a patreon announcement which confirms that they’re romantic?? idk I’m too broke to afford the patreon rip), but this thing is gonna assume they are canon.

This one is gonna be kinda long and probably not as eloquent as it could be but here we go!

I personally don’t like Gavin - at least not in the romantic sense. In fact, it’s one of the (very very) few gripes I have with the d.a.m.n. story. In almost every other part of this universe you get to choose which character you wanna ‘canonically’ be involved with, but with this particular story we get saddled with Gavin as the canon romantic LI. I personally felt like I was gritting my teeth at points in the story because of the romantic involvement Gavin had with listener, but I still listened anyway because I like the story - and I’m glad I did listen because I love these characters! I just quite literally would have preferred any of the other d.a.m.n. boys over him, and Huxley and Damien just happen to be my favourites.

Another thing is, canonically, I don’t think any of the characters Erik has made have a romantic relationship that isn’t with the listener. Yeah sure, maybe some of the secondary characters are in relationships (like the dude in Marcus’ story who has a partner? And family? I can’t remember his name rip), but they don’t interact with the listener as much as the main characters do - and to have some of the most forefront ‘main characters’ be in a relationship is just really jarring to me? Sure, Lasko and Gavin had a fling, but they aren’t currently in a relationship. If Hux and Damien become a thing, there will now be a gender attached to the receiver of the romantic affection of these characters, when the whole point of Erik’s universe crafting is that there is no gender attached to person who is usually at the receiving end of any romantic affection i.e. the listener. (Edit: this doesn’t change their sexuality at all, which is great, but my point is in a universe where Erik makes it a point to be gender inclusive about people who are in relationships with the LIs, it seems kinda out of place. Not bad, but new). I don’t know if this point made much sense so I apologise about that.

I can also definitely see how the whole friends to lovers thing can happen, especially after both of them going through something as traumatic as what happened in inversion together, but I feel like there have been no hints towards them getting together and it’s just going to be dumped on us for the sake of having a canon non-listener couple in the redacted universe. Granted, I haven’t had the time to listen to all of the audios after inversion because I’ve been so busy, so I might have just entirely missed the videos where this relationship has been hinted at (which if it has please let me know), but from my current knowledge and stand point this relationship has been ripped out of thin air. It makes me feel uncomfortable because up until this point I’ve seen all four of the the d.a.m.n. boys as brothers, so now that two of them are potentially gonna be dating each other feels gross and I don’t like it.

And finally, to carry on from this particular point, I don’t think I would be able to listen to the non-canon romance audios form Hux and Damien then. But this is just me being stubborn because I feel like they would be ‘cheating’, and I’m just very weird when it comes to things like that lol.

Don’t get me wrong, Huxley and Damien are amazing characters and I want them to be happy and safe, and while I’m not gonna go around attacking people who like the ship, it doesn’t mean I have to like it. I shall suffer in silence instead lmao

Huxley x Xaiver X Hudson X Listener/reader

Idk how I came up with this..

Hello! Thanks for the request! I'm sorry it took a little bit, but here ya go :)

I decided to use the Freelancer as the listener character, mostly because it makes the most sense. Also I’m playing with time a little bit. Inversion never happens! Everyone is fine and happy and alive. Why? Because I'm the god of the page, and I don't like being sad.

Honestly? I love this

So Huxley and Xavier obviously met through the team and at practice during Huxley’s first year.

I’m pretty sure Xavier is a year above him, so he could have helped show Huxley the ropes/give him any pointers and stuff like that

They get together after their first season playing together

They’re cute together

They don’t have very many planned dates, but Huxley will of course take Xavier on hikes when they have the weekend off

But they don’t really need to plan many dates, because so much of their schedule lines up between classes and team practice

They do have little gym dates tho

They work out together and then get smoothies

I love them

Also!! Captain and vice Captain? As boyfriends???

I’m obsessed.

Huxley and the FL meet the same way they normally do

The two of them are quick to become friends, and as they get closer, the FL starts to develop a little crush

But when Hux mentions he has a boyfriend, they just do their best to accept it and be happy for him

But he ends up inviting the FL to the team’s summer barbecue that Xavier hosts

The FL is a little nervous, especially because Huxley keeps talking about how excited he is to introduce them to Xavier

“It will be so cool to have two of my favorite people in one spot, you know?’

They mingle for little bit before someone in the crowd catches Huxley’s eye and he calls them over

The FL can’t help but feel a little jealous as they watch him light up and wave one arm above his head

But they become a little distracted when they see who Hux is waving at

He’s hot (ironic)

They both are

Once they man was close enough, Hux moved to greet him

All Huxley said was ‘Kiss?’, and when the other man nodded, Huxley kissed his cheek before turned back to the FL to introduce him

They have a similar conversation to the one they have in Xavier’s first video, and they tell each other how highly Huxley talks about them

They all hit it off, and a couple months later, they talk it through and decide to try dating

It’s going really well, and about half a year later, the E&E games tryout start

Huxley and Xavier know they wanna try out, but the FL is slightly hesitant

But they (as well as Lasko, Damien, and Gavin) help encourage them to at least try

So they all sign up to tryout

That’s where they all meet Hudson

He has to spend most of his time up in the booth, so he doesn’t get to interact with the competitors very often

But he does have a great view of the arena between the view from his box and the tester feed on the cameras.

He gets to see all of the tryouts, which is where he catches sight of Huxley, Xavier, and the Freelancer

There’s no denying they’re all extremely attractive, and not to mention powerful

He had to refrain himself several times from mentioning how hot they all look while he’s practicing their introductions during the tryouts

But when they have a break in between groups to reset the field, he decides to walk down to the competitors area

No reason of course, he just wanted to stretch his legs

He walks around for a little bit, but when he doesn’t see any of them he thinks he missed his window

But just before he heads back to his booth, he spots them

All of them actually

The three of them are standing together laughing at something

Hudson isn’t sure if it’s good luck or bad luck that all of them are standing together, but he decides to go for it and introduce himself anyway

They’re all very friendly (and even cuter up close)

They were just about to leave to get lunch, and they invite Hudson to come with them

And the rest is history.

Set up is over, now into same random relationship head canons

I fully believe that both Hudson and Xavier like to sing in the shower, so expect to hear them from down the hall

Especially Hudson if he isn’t paying attention, he can get a little loud on accident (get your head out of the gutter)

But that also means he cheers the loudest at his boyfriend’s games

Huxley and Xavier don’t mind, but the people sitting around Hudson and the FL certainly do

Eventually the school offers to let him announce after they receive so many complaints

He’s usually a very fair announcer, but he will occasionally talk about Huxley or Xavier for slightly too long

He’ll sneak the FL into the booth with him when he can so they don’t have to sit by themself in the stands

Plus they bring him snacks from the concession stand

After each game the four of them go out for dinner together, usually at a small diner that’s on the way back to the apartment

Idk I just really like the mental image of all of them sitting in an old fashioned diner booth drinking milkshakes

Just like how Hudson and the FL show up to Huxley and Xavier’s games, everyone will also go visit Hudson while he’s DJ-ing

He is technically working, so they can’t socialize with him as much, but they will come up to say hi and bring him water and snacks from the bar

He appreciates it, and he makes sure to put a couple of his partners’ favorite songs into the mix

And if the FL has anything, you bet the boys are showing up to cheer them on however they can

Xavier is the best cook of the couple

Huxley is pretty good when it comes to grilling food, but he’s never been the best at actual cooking, and Hudson probably used to eat a lot of microwave food and ramen

So Xavier cooks, Huxley grills, the FL bakes, and Hudson is in charge of taste testing

It’s a solid system

I’m not sure what I imagine Hudson to look like, but Huxley and Xavier both have a fair bit of muscle on them, which means two things

Good hugs. And good cuddles

None of the boys are morning people, so lazy mornings are an often occurrence

Except of course when there’s an early morning practice, but other than that they don’t want to leave the bed before 10am

Huxley has tried to drag the whole group on a hike, but finding a tent that was big enough for all of them was a little troubling

They all promise to take turns caring the tent, but Hux or Xavier always somehow end up with it

But it’s a great way for them all to take a break when their schedules line up

Huxley gets them all matching camel backs to take with them on these hikes, and the FL labels all of them, putting each person’s name with a little heart next to it

Also just imagine the drive up

Hudson likes to make playlists, so he’ll make one every time he knows they’ll be in the car for a while

(the four of them have a family plan on Spotify, so Hudson can keep an eye on what everyone is listening to lately, so he makes sure his playlists are always up to date)

He takes his job very seriously

Hux and Xavier usually sit in the front, mostly because it’s a lot more comfortable than trying to squeeze in the backseat

But Hudson will usually be leaning up over the center console so he can play with the radio or the bluetooth

Idk why, but I don’t imagine him as the best driver, so he usually stays in the backseat

The FL isn’t a bad driver, but they really only drive if the other two are tired

Okay but picture this; they’re driving back home after a weekend trip, and the FL and Hudson fall asleep in the back seat, each of them leaning against the other, so Huxley and Xavier carry the other to up to bed, and they all fall asleep in each other’s arms

Redacted verse - Badass Listeners Headcanon

We have some pretty badass Listeners in the Redacted ASMR worlds so I wanna have a shot at making a list on how exactly the Listeners are amazing. Some are inspired from Canon and others are from video games, movies and whatever else.

These are not the entire cast of Listeners. Just a few that I’m somewhat familiar with!

1. Angel

Bubbly and silly but physically protective over David behind his back. Their Dad taught them how to fight and was a delinquent during their time in school. So much so that they were a champion at underground fights (their stage name was Berserker) - they know exactly how and where to hurt opponents that are twice their size, physically. However, they settled down and quit the rings after deciding that they wanted to go to university. Their protective instinct surfaced after being with David, and their street brawler side accompanied it. By the way, David is not aware of this side of his Mate.

2. Babe

A smart cookie! They're exceptionally skilled at manipulating events to their advantage using gambits and information that rely on subtlety and misdirection. Especially when it comes to words, which is why Asher's little pep talk to them worked wonders. They would never do this out of malicious intent - just something that could help out their loved ones if circumstances arise. During that Halloween incident where David got a call from the Department for Asher to attend the classes about covert, they already have a plan on how to get Asher out of trouble even from what little information they knew about the magical world. It's more than enough.

3. Sweetheart

Can throw knives, darts, arrows with crazy acute accuracy and strength. Throwing darts was their childhood past time and from there, they occasionally upgraded to small blades. Now, they use this skill to catch enemies off guards or support Milo from afar. Yes, this means they're also good at archery and can be a potential sharpshooter with a sniper.

4. Darling

In terms of who is the strongest (physical-wise) in the Shaw pack, they're the third; below David and Asher. So they're one of the main bruisers in the pack. They're the juggernaut. In gaming terms, they play the role of the Tanker. They're good fighter and can be ruthless when push comes to shove. They also highly respect David as an Alpha and silently support him in this sort of way: "If my Alpha wants me to jump, I ask how high. Not why." David has to consider thrice whenever he hands them an assignment because of how devastating they can be when left alone.

5. Lovely

Their favourite subject was human biology back when they were Non-Empowered. After attending classes at D.A.M.N as an Electro Energetic, they're wondering if they could manipulate the electric nerves of a human body. And who knows? Maybe once they thoroughly mastered their powers, they could use that to control anyone who tries to harm Vincent without having to resort to violence.

6. Bright Eyes

Super good at math. Especially counting their odds and probabilities with 90% accuracy. They always win during every gamble because they know where the dice would fall and the exact number of cards their opponent holds. When in a pinch, they can count their probabilities of survival and, from there, figure out how to save themselves.

7. Love

They're built to be a bloodhound and a weapon against the magical communities and empowered creatures. Basically, like Mr. X from the Resident Evil 2 Remake. When they're on a hunt or investigation, absolutely nothing can stop them or made them go off track. They will persistently stalk their targets. Because they're an android, they have enhanced hearing and will head towards your direction if you so much as open a door. They're also equipped with magical sensors, so even empowered creatures will struggle to outrun or hide from them. If anyone tries to hide Marcus from them, there's nowhere on Earth or even Aria that they couldn't find him. (I really like the idea that they’re an artificial Weaver).

8. Sunshine

Work as a white hacker. They're trained to go after billion-dollar companies and crack through their firewalls and security system to pinpoint weaknesses so their clients could improve them. They could work almost anywhere due to their job, and they help Elliot find out information about Close-Knit from a relatively safe distance.

9. Starlight

Photographic memory and very acute attention to detail. Whenever they make a mistake, they would only do so once in their lifetime because they remember everything they do and decided. Which often leads them to takes some big, risky moves. This helps them and Avior out when experimenting on how they could escape from Blake's bubble.

10. Freelancer

Was a successor to a conglomerate of various companies that became an empire over the years. They were taught from birth to take over as a business mogul once they graduated from university. So they had a very high-class lifestyle. However, after finding out their magical abilities, they choose to run away to Dahlia and stop all contact with their family and advisers. That includes their financial safety net. Because of their childhood upbringing, they're skilled in any business-related acumen, managing resources and talents, and adapting to changes at a moment notice. Whenever they have to work together with Damien, Caelum, Lasko, Huxley and Gavin, they're the main figurehead (mission control) while the boys act as offence or support (in Caelum's case).

alrighty let’s kick this off with the ones i relate to the most-

freelancer and darlin (my self inserts and hcs)

Freelancer- “Charlotte”

* HIGH anxiety

* also main caregiver and have been since they can remember

* they have a big family, two brothers two sisters, freelancer is a middle child

* when they were 13 their powers manifested, their family did not know what to do, they were encouraged to push it down so they did, but stuff still happened

* first it was just wind flying papers off of tables, then it was the garden getting messed up with potholes, then it escalated to fires and water coming out whenever emotions spilled

* this leads to freelancer going into a catatonic state whenever they are confronted with something really serious (and if it’s about them) because their parents blaming the problems on them and for their family going corrupt

* their oldest brother can’t talk to them but when freelancer ran away he financially supported them without the family knowing

* freelancer also uses will money from her dead grandma to support herself hence why they have an apartment

* anyway freelancer ran away when they turned 18, still trying to ignore their powers and have been living on their own for three years, they did it in the middle of the night but left a note for their siblings

* they at first stayed in a motel for a week but before they ran away they contacted an apartment complex and they’ve been living there ever since

* also has a part time job, they work in retail so they definitely know how to deal with all kinds of people

* caelum visits them later and you all know the rest (they should be around 21-22 when he first visits)

* (also i feel like if gavin wasn’t the canon romantic interest [and my first pic as well] mine would pick Huxley)

* i mean CMON think about how trusting the freelancer was with him AT THEIR FIRST MEETING

* they trusted him to hold their hand and talk about the kody situation like BRUH THIS DUDE IS THE BEST (plus there are some flirty moments in his vids DONT EVEN TRY ME)

* with gavin- jawbone kisses, sitting on lap/laying on top of him in bed

* with huxley- forehead kisses, spooning (him being big spoon mostly)

* with lasko- cheek kisses, spooning (her being big spoon)

* with damien- temple kisses, straight up hugging in bed

* also i can definitely see the damn boys in a polycule in the future maybe? idk but i feel that people can love multiple people

* do i feel it SHOULD be canon? no, but can i see it? ABSOLUTELY

Darlin- “Cara”

* SEVERE anger issues

* grew up in an illegal boxing ring led by her father who was the “only” family member she has left

* one day got busted and powers manifested that day, when she saw her dad being taken away (she would’ve been 12)

* department took her in, brought in Gabe Shaw to talk to her about her powers and the pack

* hesitant at first, mute until he brought some food and then she took the offer to join the pack after some talking of her life

* only trusted gabe at first but then gabe basically adopted her and started getting closer to david

* constant sparring matches, video games, cooking (and darlin watching)

* darlin meets a new friend, Paisley, unempowered at a coffee shop she goes to on her own

* they start to get closer and she even sees her as a sister, none of the pack knows about her except david and gabe

* hang out after pack meetings to just hang out and even teaches her to make coffee, which is a skill darlin retained

* slowly darlin gets close to asher and milo, more to asher though, they also start to fight together and train and went on camping trips as well

* gabe dies while coming home from a meeting, but got desserts for the small family as a surprise, which just twists the knife into the whole situation

* david got distant from darlin as he became alpha, wanted to have darlin as beta but knew she wouldn’t take it especially after gabe died

* Darlin and David (pre Sam and Angel) having feelings for each other, both being vaguely aware of it.

* This happens as Darlin is pulling away from the pack and towards Quinn, Darlin and David get into an argument about it.

* darlin wanted him to confess but only said he cares because he’s her best friend and alpha

* after hanging out with quinn some more, his group got into shady business which reminded darlin of her father

* darlin finally saw the monster quinn was, after manipulating, gaslighting and convincing her the pack didn’t care for her

* called the department and all the canon fighting with quinn happens

* paisley’s memory is wiped but the two are still friends, just more distant which is for paisleys safety

* while darin’s injuries are severe, she goes to washington after doing research and realizing her aunt and cousins live there

* once they’re better they return, not telling anyone so they can hunt down quinn

* and they finally meet sam and everything changes (darlin is now 25)

* a bunch of forehead kisses are involved in this relationship

* sam bites/drinks from darlin the second time they get together “like that” and it is the BEST feeling

* he also loves the fact that darlin ALWAYS looks in sam’s eyes with full trust, not minding there could be trancing (quinn used on them before), because he knows he would NEVER do that

* darlin give sam her jacket to wear, especially at pack meetings to show him off in her own way

* they have crossed paths before, but nothing where they would be introduced, for example- once darlin was outside crying and sam almost went to check on her but was called by william

(btw i’ve taken some inspiration from other people’s ideas and thoughts so props to them for coming up with it first)

You might do well to remind Gavin that as fun as it is for us to give Lasko a hard time, there’s a time and place for that sort of stuff, and during class is not one of those times. I imagine you’re right. Gavin would never maliciously do anything that would harm Lasko’s job prospects, but it never hurts to have those conversations for a little bit of a reminder, Freelancer.

Gavin probably would enjoy a gag… You’re absolutely right. As long as he’s putting real cash in the jar, I suppose where it comes from doesn’t matter. Think Gavin can afford his high-maintenance mouth?

Oh, good, Freelancer. I’m glad. I’m always willing to listen about her. I can’t imagine how difficult that must’ve been for you to realize that you’d have to cut ties with some family. Wow, you manage to exchange letters with her like that? That’s clever and so amazing of her. I wish the circumstances were different, but I’m glad you and she found a way to maneuver around those shitty circumstances.

Cheesecake is good. It’s a lot of work to make, though. My recipe is usually calling the bakery down the street. Yes, sometimes a black and white cookie is the perfect dessert. It goes with everything and looks as delicious as it tastes.

I’m a little pissed that Lasko folded so easily, but as long as you’re going to be there, we might as well have a gameplan. How do we go about doing this?

Oh, a Boston Creme Pie is amazing. I don’t know why it’s called “pie” when it’s definitely cake, but whatever. I didn’t use cream to make the ganache. It was a mix of chocolate chips, powdered sugar, milk, and (I think) vanilla extract. Maybe not using cream was my mistake. That sounds like a lot of fun, Freelancer. Let’s do it!

I will definitely talk to him. I like to tease Lasko too but I wouldn't do it in front of his class. But, I'm a bit more self conscious than Gavin is in public, haha. Maybe I can bribe him? What would be something I could use?

Gavin probably knows how to use telepathy so a gag probably wouldn't save us. We'll have to see, do you think he'd make jars for us too? Just to get back at us? I'd probably have to pay for puns.

If she can ever come to Dahlia, I'd love to introduce you to her. I already write to her about you, and Gavin, Hux and Lasko. But it's not really the same as meeting in person, you know?

One of my friends made the jiggly fluffy cheesecake once, it was so good! But she did say that she never wants to make it again, haha. I'll have to try those sometime, especially if it meets your standards.

Well, first we just have to worry about the start of class. I mean, we can always take video with out phones, but that might be obvious? They do make body cams... is it against school policy to record lectures?

The ganache recipe I found is boiling cream until it just starts to bubble and then pouring it over semi sweet chocolate chips and stirring them together. But I'm sure there are plenty and we can try different ones. That way, we can have a taste test and see which is the best!

The David Hoodie video is probably my most-listened to. It works as comfort, sleep aid, romance. It’s a big winner.

What Redacted boy holds no appeal to you, and why? Like, not the one you hate but the one who you don’t get the hype for. (I won’t judge, I promise.) I didn’t always feel this way, but: I think Vincent is really boring without Adam. And he needs to find something to do other than Lovely.

It’s guilty because lots of people say “oh yeah it gives me ideas for what to make and I think I’m going to try making a chiffon cake or a genoise” or w/e and I’m like “I want to eat that. And whatever else you think tells me about who you are! I run my mouth a lot but I’m surprisingly traditional

I am loving this; I am loving the vibes here. It’s giving traditional, classic, no-nonsense, old-school romance which makes you a great match for James.

It’s the ‘not believing in personality tests’ bit. That’s James one hundred percent- not just because they're overhyped and usually selling something but because he, as a telepath, is privy to the depths and complexities of human thought and thus thinks they’re reductive. James would agree and love this about you… everything about you, actually; despite his job and situation, traditional is how he would describe his heart and desired life.

James would so love and enjoy a domestic life with you, coming home to your face and your mind. When you let him inside your head, he always hears something new to him, given he knows absolutely nothing about pop culture or music. He is more familiar with macro-politics, given his position at DUMP, so he loves hearing your sleepy ranting. James definitely misses all of that while he’s gone; maybe he brings a copy of Alice in Wonderland to read when he’s thinking of you which is, of course, all the time.

I’m not quite sure what music James listens to, but Mitski feels not wrong. Though he’s an old-fashioned sort of guy, his music taste doesn’t necessarily skew old, swing, and/or classical. Mitski, to me, reads as timeless, and I think she has this quality that appeals to everyone including James. This song is also so lovely, so mournful, so romantic, I think it’s a perfect track for the two of you missing each other while he’s away.

Runner-Ups:

Damien is a runner-up for a lot of the reasons I like you with James except I like James’s stoicism for you versus Damien’s tsundere nature. Aaron, I like for you because I can clearly imagine the two of you watching “The Devil Wears Prada” and you pointing at Miranda, telling Aaron “that’s you.” That tickles me pink; he’d pretend to hate that but would love it so much.

Here, I’ll make a list of the things you will need to pack but won’t be able to until the morning you and Damien go. That way, you won’t have to worry about forgetting anything. It was so very lovely to have you with us. I want to make sure that you know you’re always welcome to come back anytime you want. Anytime! Good luck with this new semester. And as we discussed, I think you might want to look into transferring out of that Prof. Piller’s section of sonar energetic work and into someone else’s, if you can. Damien tells me Lasko can be quite skilled at that sort of stuff. Certainly there’s no record of it, but in my experience, Piller’s presumptions that humanborn students need to be held to higher standards to “show them” that magic needs to be approached with respect is antiquated and, frankly, illegal. It’s not as if he can legally ask you the origin of your magic, but sometimes, as I’m sure you know, it can be difficult to conceal that fact and frankly, I don’t think it’s something you should ever need to conceal. The world, including the magical world, requires us all to be our true selves if we aim to make it a place we can all thrive. There’s no reason you should have to deal with that extra layer of difficulty in what’s already a difficult field. Safe travels, dear! And do not hesitate to use that phone number I gave you! A leopard sounds like a cool choice. Probably any of the big cats would be. Eren’s large cousins. Hahaha. I might choose to be a wolf, even if it is a bit cliché. There’s something so majestic about seeing a wolf prowl around. And I think I like the idea of having a pack. There’s no cohesive group dynamic like that for our races, but sometimes, I think it’d be cool to have one. A bunch of people you spend time with, can depend on. I suppose it might feel a little claustrophobic at times, but also, kinda nice? Although, I guess we sorta made one with our group of friends, even if we don't share powers.

No, Freelancer. I didn’t say it was a lame idea. Maybe you should clean out your ears or something. I said it “possible” and then I started theorizing about it. I can theorize all day long, but until the film comes out, we just won’t know, and that’s what bothers me. I hate the not knowing. I hate the suspense. Sure, sure. We can stop by the store tomorrow and pick one up.

Well, what I want isn’t relevant. It just seems to make sense that you come with me since you have experience with cats and I don’t. He crawled right into your bag? It can get noisy, and I’m sure it’s a big change from the serenity of the country. But to be honest, I kinda like the noise. It’s proof that there are people going about their days and nights. Ironically, it's really hard for me to fall asleep without noise. When I was a kid, I even talked in my sleep a lot. I probably still do, but I live alone, so I'm not really sure. Yeah, exactly! Secluded areas are the perfect spot for horror. Not to mention, I can’t handle the bugs. Can’t. Handle. The Bugs. I already have to douse myself in DEET every summer in Dahlia. I can’t imagine the bug spray I’d go through if I lived in the country. But, the animals would be really cool to see. Plus, people always say stars look brighter away from a city. That’s pretty cool.

Oh, well, I…. Uhh. I like some of them. Occasionally. Maybe. And, that’s okay, Freelancer. Scary stuff is SUPPOSED to scare you, after all! If the movies didn’t freak you out, you wouldn’t be getting your money’s worth.

Gavin doesn’t need to stack the deck against Lasko. You could practically read his hand off of his forehead with how many tells he has! Remember when he literally started whistling “The Gambler” when he had that straight flush? Unbelievable. I hope he never goes to a casino. Oh, well, if there’s a different game you had in mind, we could always play that. And I don’t “lose my cool.” More temperature puns? You’re a riot, Freelancer…

Wolves are definitely majestic, wolf would be my second choice, there is something reassuring about being a part of a pack. You wouldn't be lonely then. Hey, you're right, we are kind of like a pack, huh? I know if I need you, or Hux or Lasko I can ask for help.

It was really cute, I wish I'd gotten a video of it. And you can bring a bag if you want, I just meant that the right cat will choose you, it could climb up your pants leg or slip under your shirt or something. I mean, I'd like a big water fountain in my home, I'm so used to the noise Eren's makes, it's kind of relaxing. Though cleaning it...might be another story.

I can't stand silence either, I usually listen to music or asmr videos to fall asleep. You talked in your sleep? I'm sorry, but that's pretty cute. I'm just imagining a little you mumbling about your day. Ooh, yeah...I can't stand the bugs. Mosquitos and ticks...I was showing my friend some waterfalls that were around where I lived and I forgot to pack bug spray. We got eaten alive. But the stars are so pretty in the country. I remember getting up at around four a.m. and looking up at the deep blue-black sky with its millions of pinpricks of light... And sometimes you got to see the Aurora Borealis!

We should see that one rom com they were advertising at the movie theatre, with the Fire Elemental and the Seer? That one looked really cute! That's true, though I will admit that I can't stand psychological horror. Give me a slasher fic, or vengeful spirits. But don't make me watch a character have to decide to blind themselves or kill an innocent person. Bleh.

Haha! That was such an obvious tell! I couldn't help it, I couldn't stop laughing when he did that! Oh, I don't mind what we play, just because I'm not good at something doesn't mean that I still don't enjoy it. I'd love to see you wipe the floor with us. Ugh, I did it again? Well, I guess you’ll have to see for yourself when you join me at my next yoga class, Freelancer. Make sure to bring some water!

If you’re the one asking, I think you can bump that up to 100%. Lasko barely has a filter to begin with, but when it comes to you, he might as well be shouting secrets from a mountaintop. Hux's moms are really nice, so I bet that’s it. Have you gotten a chance to meet them? Hux brought them around campus at last year’s homecoming. They made a sign for him and cheered pretty much every time he made a move at his game, and Hux is a starting player, so they were screaming and shouting for him the whole time. They were louder than the cheerleaders! Oh, good, I’m glad. The other fire elementals I’ve met are fine, I guess. I think sometimes they interpret my wanting full certification as some sort of denial of being a fire elemental. Maybe I’m overthinking, but that’s what their comments seem to imply. Like I think that “only” fire isn’t good enough or something. Sometimes I think they are right, but if I want to be a full professor, I’ve no choice but to be fully certified. Why should being a fire elemental preclude me from that position?

Oh, I love cats, Freelancer! You should’ve brought Eren with you to my house. I mean, not that Gavin has any problem with cat sitting. Colors? Well… Actually, my favorite color is blue. I know, I know. Everyone presumes I like red because it looks like flames. And it’s not that I dislike red. Clearly, half my wardrobe is red, orange, and yellow. But, when a fire has blue flames, that means that what’s getting burned is being burned without anything wasted. It’s completely efficient and only happens at really, really high temperatures. So, yeah, blue isn’t the color we associate with fire because it’s so rare, but when it does happen, it’s special and powerful. Look, it’s your tattoo and you should definitely choose the color because it’s your body. But, I guess what I’m saying is, consider blue? Yeah, I think it would be fun to get one for you. Maybe inside my bicep? Let me know what you think.

They probably have vampire-focused classes. I mean, they should. Maybe I shouldn’t hold my breath given this administration. Gee, I don’t know. Magical paralysis sounds really scary to experience. How did that happen? I mean, you don’t have to tell me if you don’t want to. I don’t mean to pressure you or anything. I just, want to make sure you’re okay. And to do anything I can to help make you okay, if you’re not. Trancing can feel weird. Like, your brain’s not exactly your own anymore, but you don’t have the cognizance to resist what you’re told to do.

Well, maybe I used that line once. Or twice. When I was a teenager. “Work,” seems like a bit of a stretch, but to be honest, I’m not sure at the time I would’ve known what to do if it had. I really can warm your hands up, though, Freelancer. I don’t want you to get cold. (I seem to remember telling you to bring gloves and you told me you’d be fine…)

That’s… so many flavors. I like all of those things. I like them all a lot. I’d try all of them, especially if you made them. Red velvet cheesecake brownies seem super decadent. That’s three already-rich desserts in just one bite?!

If you do, just ask my dad for the recap. In fact, he might even give you highlights by sharing clips of the shows he remembers through a telepathic line. You’ll be all caught up in no time.

I haven't gotten to meet them in person yet, but Hux was on a video call with them once and introduced us. They were really sweet! I can't wait to cheer him on this year, maybe I'll get to meet them if they come to a game again? I'll have to bake something if I know they're coming, I want to make a good impression.

What's wrong with wanting to learn more than your element, or energetic or more than your race? That's so closed minded? Wouldn't you want to be prepared for anything? I mean, just because I'm a freelancer, doesn't mean I have to learn a bit of everything. I just want to. But if you only learned fire, and say... you have to fight a water elemental, wouldn't that put you at a disadvantage? I don't know, I was kind of raised with the whole, knowledge is power mentality so I like trying new things.

I'll definitely bring him over when we're back in Dahlia, he doesn't like long rides unfortunately and he gets carsick. But he adores Gavin, the little traitor. Leaves me like yesterday's cat food to go rub up against him.

I think blue suits you! Especially with that explanation, hehe. Hmm, maybe I can have each rose look like an element, like fire for yours, with the blue flame at the center? And I'd be very touched if you got something for me, Damien, I like the inner bicep placement. I don't think that area would be too painful so that'd be a bonus. Though, now that I think about it, wouldn't you having a water bottle tattoo be kinda ironic? You'll probably be asked if you're a water elemental.

Oh, heh, I'm fine now. That whole...situation has been resolved. I'd gotten mixed up with a sadism demon and he was threatening me. But I'm fine! It was just scary waking up to not being able to move and this stranger standing over me.

You're telling me it didn't work? I thought you'd have people falling over themselves for you in high school. And... I'd appreciate it, Damien. It's colder here than I thought it'd be. I said I'd be fine because I don't like bothering you. And I will be fine, it's not so cold that I'd get frostbite or anything.

They all sound good? Maybe I should make a sample platter for you? that way you'd be able to try a bit of everything. The red velvet cheesecake ones are soooo rich. They're worth it though.

He can show clips?! in my mind?! That's amazing! Is it just like, memory sharing? Do telepaths have better memory retention? If it's an older memory is it harder to show? Is it just visual or can he impart sensations or emotions too? that seems like it'd be useful for teaching, like, if you were having a hard time grasping a certain magic and your teacher could just be like. 'this is how it feels when I do it.' And it'd help?
