Joel didn’t discern what came over his mind when he assuredly travelled his way towards Seth’s home. Feasibly, Tommy was right, when Joel begins to care for someone, he would begin to concern for them behind the scenes before he would forwardly display his tender emotions for them openly.
Joel Miller was one of the most important people in the society, he held power when he walked, whenever he spoke, and whenever he was silent. His pressuring and threatening stance was enough to cause uneasiness and cowardice within other people, in addition to his brute strength, there are rows of people who would never want to be at the end of Joel’s fist.
He stood in front of the closed wooden entry, his emotions strong and self-righteous. Knocked on the door at least three times, strong and intense enough to make Seth hurry to open the door, astounded to who stood tall opposite him, Seth immediately allowed the Miller man to enter his home, still distracted to why he was here.
“Joel, what brings you here?” Seth respectfully questioned as he closed the door.
Quiet as he prepared his dispute, there was disappointment on Joel’s face that displayed to Seth that the reason why the Miller man was in his home was not for a pleasant reason.
“What’s your issue with Isabella?”
An automatic scoff was released through Seth’s opening, he was in disbelief on how easy the woman was able to get people on her side. Yet, the glimpse on Joel’s face strictly declared to Seth that he wasn’t here to express mirth with him.
“With respect, sir, I don’t think the conflict between Isabella and I has anything to do with you,” he hastily defended himself.
“As your authority, it does, the woman has gone and left her children---”
“Ha! As much as she is a deviant jezebel, she’s also negligent and irresponsible.”
Joel pointed his finger towards Seth, furious and frenetic by the choice of words Seth bestowed. “I dare you to say anything negative about her again or make her bothered once more,” his voice pitch thick with acrimony and resentment. “You will qualm it, I swear,” he seethed with animosity as he pulled his finger down.
Seth stared at Joel, stupefied and blurred towards Joel’s behaviour, he stood there jumbled and so unsettled. Yet, it seemed like Joel quickly understood why Seth was so thrown off. “Why do you care about her so much?” Seth curiously investigated, he gently leaned backwards to take a good look at the Miller man who stood there, avoidant to answer Seth’s inquiry who suddenly let out a breathy laugh the moment he realised why. “You like her.”
“My feelings for Isabella have nothing to do with you,” Joel swallowed, “but take my word for it, the next time you do or say anything that hurts her—”
“I understand,” Seth easily finished, he waved his hand towards Joel, unsatisfied that there would be a lack of justice his friend Alexander should’ve received.

“You have progressed so quickly,” Kaylee earnestly congratulated the youngest Rosalind sibling who effortlessly finished the piece that was tasked for her to learn. Venus widely grinned in the act of finishing pressing the last keys of the song, pleased and honoured of herself and of her hasty improvement.
“Thank you,” Venus affably appreciated during the moment she turned herself around, Kaylee gracefully winked at Venus during the time that she left the practice room on the point of Adam accessing the area.
Venus’ smile strained at the tall man who waved as he entered the room. “Hello Venus, how was piano class?”
“Good,” she artlessly replied, simply unconcerned of his presence while her smile dropped, Adam plopped himself on the chair he usually sat on to read his novel. This time it wasn’t the unique novel Venus saw him read prior the last time she was here. Venus aimed to ask her mother what book Fifty Shades of Grey was supposed to be when she returned from her trip.
“When do you think your mother’s coming back?”
Venus sent Adam a long side-eye with an amused look on her face. “I don’t know, and if I did know I wouldn’t tell you because I wouldn’t want your weird self to be around her.”
Adam furrowed his eyebrows towards Venus clearly offended. “I’m not weird---”
“You’re totally are, you keep on asking questions about my mother like a creep,” Venus rudely retorted.
“I’m just checking up on a woman—”
“A woman you think is going to be yours?” Venus snapped at him disgusted, “I like your sense of imagination—"
“And that’s enough.”
Kaylee waltzed into the practice room with the fresh batch of cookies she normally baked Venus whenever she came to upgrade her piano skills, Venus thanked the woman for her baking the moment she placed the plate full of desserts on top of the desk near Venus.
“Ah, only nice students get more than two cookies,” Kaylee jokingly ordered while she gently slapped Venus’ hand away who attempted to reach for a third cookie. Venus could hear Adam chortle behind Kaylee that caused Venus to send Adam a glare. A moment after the petty exchange, the front door chimed.
Kaylee mentioned that she would return back to them quickly ere she walked out of the practice room and to the entry door that had the stranger patiently wait.
“Joel?” Kaylee’s speech was full with stun and stagger, from the practice room Venus and Adam diverted their head to the opening of the practice room, both bewildered to Joel’s presence, the dialogue between Kaylee and Joel resumed fairly inaudible and a couple of seconds after the trail of Kaylee’s shuffled towards back to the room, the moment she entered the place she had a fair but clumsy gleam on her face. “Venus, Joel is here to pick you up,” Kaylee uncouthly registered and that caused Venus to raise the both of her eyebrows candidly surprised to the Miller man’s reason of presence.
Not too long after Kaylee’s mention, Joel trailed behind her, his large body stalked over Kaylee but his face welcoming and peaceful when his gaze fell upon Venus who hastily and sneakily picked up a handful of cookies to go.
“Venus usually goes on her own,” Adam closely cited as he closed his book, his nose pointed towards Joel in a haughty and pompous stance. Clearly unhappy about Joel’s presence in his home.
Joel hardly looked at Adam but greeted Venus by a pat on her head. “Well, since her mother is out of Jackson, I think it’s best to pick her up.”
“It’s not like she’s unsafe,” Adam bluntly responded as both Venus and Kaylee were banqueted by the strained and rigid spirit Joel and Adam reciprocated to one another.
“I’m just being responsible,” Joel boorishly belittled the Lorde man, evidently unmoved by Adam’s strict stance. Adam clenched his jaw, irked by Joel’s impolite manners while the Miller man escorted Venus outside of the Lorde home.
The door closed behind them and Venus couldn’t help but chuckle at the recent encounter between Adam and Joel, the little girl looked up at Joel who then led the young girl home, he could feel her amused fixed stare, as well as before he could say anything, Venus beat him to it.
“Men have fought over my mother before, nothing new,” she covertly joked and Joel’s hard glare dropped down to her.
“It has nothing to do with your mother,” Joel frankly responded as he lightly patted the back of her back, briskly urged her to walk quicker to her home’s route.

29TH OF AUGUST 2013
Alexander wasn’t one to host social gatherings in his home, yet, when his friend Kennedy implied and proposed the idea for a party, it appeared like the man was instantly up for the idea even if Lilith had suggested for a gathering more than once.
In spite of the fact that Lilith was contended and ecstatic that Alexander hosted a party, it was only a few moments later Alexander pushed Lilith to the side and put her with the only other woman in the gathering, Mariposa.
Mariposa was a beautiful woman, she had curly hair with bangs, her hair seemed to frame her face as if she were one of them porcelain dolls Lilith would see when she was in the mall with Alexander. She wore a black sleeveless top, with a long V-neck that showcased majority of her breast, the top tight and cropped, paired with blue denim jeans and black heels.
Both Mariposa and Lilith were in a room alone, the room spacious and lacked colour, an extended white sofa that was in a L shape and opposite them was a large television installed into the wall that played a Disney cartoon the two were actively going to get bored of in less than five minutes.
Lilith wore a strapless black corset top, taut and snug around her figure, the cramped top accentuating her chests, the bottom of the upper clothing stopped above her belly button, she wore gothic mesh bell bottoms and her hair was once styled again in the jumbo braided high pony tail Alexander liked.
“You’re gorgeous,” Mariposa benevolently complimented as she slightly pushed her body closer to Lilith who shyly smiled at Mariposa.
“Thank you,” Lilith attentively thanked, the two of them held red party cups that adhered strong liquor that burned and charred their throat every time they took a sip.
“No like honestly, where the hell did Alexander find someone like you?” Mariposa curiously investigated; Lilith could tell with the way her words slightly slurred that the alcohol worked well in her system.
Lilith smiled embarrassed by the pitiful and scanty advantages Mariposa hinted towards her. “We met during my sister’s party,” Lilith truthfully explained, “she turned twenty that year and she was thrown a surprise birthday party and Alexander was one of the biggest funders for the birthday,” even though Lilith did come from a well-off family, Alexander and Lilith’s sister, Adriana, have been close since they were in diapers, he paid out of affection and appreciation. “Alexander and I met properly during her birthday and we became close ever since.”
“Hm,” Mariposa answered intrigued, “and how old were you when you properly met?”
“Oh, I was fourteen.”
Mariposa blankly stared at Lilith, unprepared by the information Lilith had informed her with. “Huh?” Mariposa lightly choked, “how old are you now?”
“Seventeen.”
Mariposa sat up, uncertain and at wit’s end. “And right now, Alexander is twenty-five, meaning you two got close when you were fourteen and he was twenty-two?” Marisa questioned puzzled but Lilith beckoned her head as she confirmed Mariposa’s troubled question. “Meaning that he’s a paedophile,” she said, serious and assured about her statement.
“What? No?”
Mariposa slowly nodded her head, adamant on her argument. “Yes, the relationship you have with Alexander is wrong as fuck,” Mariposa genuinely said, “what business does a twenty-five-year-old have with a seventeen-year-old? F-fuck, I can’t believe I tried to make a seventeen-year-old cheat on her purely adult boyfriend.”
“Alexander said I am an adult, that I’m fully grown, he said I’m mature, my body is mature—”
Mariposa deliberately raised her hand in front of Lilith’s face, “No! Don’t tell me what he thinks of you,” she consciously gagged at the thoughts of intimate acts amongst Lilith and Alexander. Mariposa then crossed her arms, evidently thrown off by the knowledge of Alexander’s antics, Lilith remained silent, ashamed of herself.
The room continued with no communication from the two girls but from the tv that was the only light source that emitted and took part in the area. The situation now graceless and awkward, hushed between them until the get together was concluded. Mariposa bid Lilith a hushed goodbye fore she left the room and exited with her boyfriend, nevertheless, Mariposa couldn’t leave without rudely discussing Alexander’s wrongful acts in front of the rest of his friends who presently knew of Lilith’s age and grew disgusted of the man who hosted the party.
Of course, each of his friends except Kennedy who also indulged in wrongful acts commented on how vile Alexander was, the moment each guest left the mansion, Alexander, enraged, tracked where Lilith must’ve been. Hurt that his reputation was completely annihilated the only thing that repeated in his mind was how much he wanted to maul her, and so he did, with his hand wrapped around her throat as her body was roughly pressed against the closest wall.
His eyes darted and burned into her surprised and taken aback gaze. Her small hands wrapped around his thick wrist in attempt to push him off her.
“Stop!” She desperately cried out.
Though, her desperation to be freed only tightened the strong hold he had around collar. “Do you know what you have done?” Alexander bitterly spat, “you ruined everything!”
Quickly perceptive to what Alexander insinuated at, Lilith looked at him with sorry eyes, her mouth shaped into anguish. “I told her that you were doing nothing bad to me, I swear! It was her! She said our relationship was bad!” Lilith frightfully defended herself and then felt his touch weaken, he desperately sighed with his forehead pressed against hers, “is our relationship wrong?” Lilith fairly and innocently questioned him; his eyes were lightly pressed shut.
“No,” he finally opened his eyes, he gently cupped her face, “she doesn’t know what she’s talking about, okay?”
Naively, Lilith nodded her head, still apologetic for his emotions, she touched his nose with hers in attempt to kiss him. “Alexander I’m sorry,” she genuinely pleaded, her hands moved to the bands of his trousers, tried to pull them down to give him the pleasure he normally got when she misbehaved. “I’ll be your good girl,” she kindly whispered, contended when she saw a happy expression hastily grow on his face, eager to suggestion.
His hand rose to pat her head, attentive to what she implied on doing. “Good.”

“Yeah, it was like two years ago, Dina asked him out and he completely embarrassed her with the way he said no,” Ellie cheerlessly explained to Ivy, “the way he responded, it caused her to get bullied by students for a very long time, so, yeah, Dina has held a grudge against him ever since that time.”
Partly, the bullying and teasing didn’t go on for a year but at least a couple of months, nevertheless, the situation still traumatised Dina. Ivy smiled sadly at the data Ellie willingly gave her, now, Ivy was more empathetic and understanding of Dina’s stance.
The two were once again in Ivy’s lodge, and Ivy wondered when Ellie would invite her to her caboose but she didn’t want to push anything. The two girls rested against Ivy’s bed, comfortable in each other’s embrace, the light in the room dimly lit and the fan working on its lowest setting.
“Well, you guy’s attitude towards Rowan makes much more sense to me,” Ivy poorly chuckled, “but, Rowan can’t control the response of students.”
“Yeah, but he could’ve said it nicer, trust me, I believe that would’ve fucking caused people to be nicer to her,” Ellie hastily countered, Ivy bit her lip, silently agreed with Ellie.
“True,” Ivy quietly hummed, the two once again submerged into the comfortable quietness, Ellie agreed that she would stay over the night and before they were wrapped up in bed, the two partook in activities that dimmed their energies. Eating, drawing, dancing, embracing each other and anything they could come up with.
Tired, Ivy still couldn’t not think of how everyone’s friendship would shift, along with the bond Ivy shared with Rowan. With now that Ivy and Ellie’s association with one another grew romantically, Ivy hoped that it wouldn’t ruin anything between her and him.

LINCOLN, NEBRASKA
Consequent to finding an abandoned lodge, Isabella took it upon herself to take a break for herself and Lana. Even though horses were high enterprise, they were also due to exhaustion; so, the woman had napped in a dusted room that barely had useful contents but a naked mattress she could lay on.
It had been about three hours within her nap just before she was woken by sounds outside the cabin. Alerted, Isabella sat up, the moonlight that seeped through the large room windows glared against her slight tanned skin, she didn’t think twice before she used her stealth to reach the bottom of the lodge.
Reached out for her pistol, steadily crawled to the opening of the cabin and hastily reached for the individual who was the cause for the attentive wakening. Hitting the base of her pistol against his head which evolved him to stumble away from Lana, who he attempted to capture.
“Fuck!” The man loudly cursed, evidently taken by surprise by Isabella’s swift advance. He swung his fist with the force of his entire body, his knuckles connected with her cheek in defence, confident enough to whip another punch towards Isabella, Isabella ended up catching his throw, grabbed him by the throat with her other hand and harshly headbutted him.
Choked and startled, the man tried to ran backwards but Isabella’s grip was still on him, her hold tight and rough, in attempt to kill him, she used all she had and kicked him in the crotch, pressed him against the floor, the bottom of her foot heavy against his stomach as she quickly pulled out her pistol once again, aimed the opening of the gun towards his forehead. Her expression cold and frightening enough to make the man raise both of his hands up in truce.
“I’m sorry!” He whimpered in accord, “I’m poor, I have nothing!” He desperately explained himself.
Her finger on the trigger, unmoved by his desperate stance. “Not a good reason for me to not kill you,” she bluntly responded, her voice covered with frigid iciness, she looked him up and down and examined his poor state.
Frustrated as he brought down his hands, “look, I’m really sorry, okay? I won’t do it again!” Isabella’s right eyebrow cocked upwards, noted of his hopeless behaviour, the weight of her foot lighter against his body, “to make it up for you, I’ll help you on your quest, I’ll be your side-kick!” He despondently cried out and Isabella gathered that in any second the man would begin to wail would attract infected.
She clenched her jaw as she pulled her foot off him, Isabella contemplated his idea for a minute before she pulled the aim of her pistol away from him. The trip was going to take a while and she was bored, having a partner in this route would be cordial, even if Robin did suggest for him to come, she’d rather not have her only son come with her.
“Okay,” Isabella easily replied and out of alleviation, the man stood up to his feet, “but do anything suspicious, I will kill you cruelly.” He nodded his head, submissive to her order as he anteriorly followed Isabella back into the cabin.

“So, how’s it been training the Rosalind boy?”
Tommy and Joel had been directed to take on patrols given by Maria as signs of infected had been recognised by the working men of the society when it was their turn to take on shifts, it had been a long time since Joel and Tommy were together and conveyed about life and what came with it, the blonde-haired Miller had an idea that this moment was a good time to speak one-to-one.
“It’s been good, bud’s talented,” Joel casually replied, his head didn’t turn to look at Tommy but he did a move with his body to inform that he was engaged within the conversation. “Maybe I’ll attempt to go on clear outs with him.”
“What do you think of Isabella?” Tommy straightforwardly coaxed, his candid and forthright inquest did catch Joel off-handed, he couldn’t help but leer at his older brother’s culpable reaction, Tommy knew that his brother Joel was infatuated with the new woman, Tommy swore anyone with a brain and a pair of eyes could tell that Joel Miller was tender about Isabella.
“She’s a great cook,” Joel simply replied.
Tommy scoffed in incredulity. “Everyone can tell that you feel fond around her,” he truthfully pointed out, “and you’re going to realise it when you start doing stuff for her behind the scenes, because that’s how you are, you start taking care of people without them knowing, like how you’re helping out with her only boy, you seem to be responsive and devoted about your training with him.”
Joel declined on replying, he didn’t deny anything due to the fact that Tommy was right, that’s how Joel usually was, he serviced those he cared for and the man wasn’t even aware that was exactly what he was doing for Isabella.
“Here’s some brotherly advice,” Tommy thoughtfully aforesaid, “Joel look at me,” Tommy airily commanded and the bearded man fitted his gaze towards his younger brother, self-conscious and reticent about the topic, “when she comes back, speak to her, before someone in swoops in and takes her,” he light-heartedly teased, “trust me, I’ve seen the way she’s been eyed up, somebody is going to try and woo her soon.”
Joel flouted at what Tommy said anteriorly he urged his horse, Old Beardy to pick up on the pace as his brother followed behind him in attenuate request that his brother pursued someone that made him happy.

25TH of JANUARY 2013
At the time that dates passed by, Lilith had taken interest in gardening and had been planting yellow carnations and black dahlias in the garden Alexander owned. The fifteen-year-old-women also had taken curiosity and activity to learn the flower language, she got the hand of it very quickly and had been able to dissect the meaning of almost every flower she had seen.
Alexander gifted the young girl a gardening apron and gloves to aid her with the plants, surprisingly, it wasn’t something they had to bicker on about. Imaginably, Alexander quickly agreed to Lilith’s cultivation because that meant she didn’t uselessly lay around the house, watch tv or do nothing but nap.
Horticulture brought Lilith comfort, as every outcome of her planting seeds into the ground or already of age flowers into soil came out well. As the girl was done with her last batch of planting, Alexander’s voice rang for her and she immediately jumped to her feet thereupon she walked to the location of her boyfriend who was in the company of another man.
“Lilith, meet Kennedy,” Alexander gently made acquainted his girlfriend to his tall friend who curiously examined Lilith’s image.
Luckily for Alexander, Lilith consistently looked older than her age, specifically because of the proportions of her physique. Alexander usually told Lilith that she had the body of a fully developed woman and that it was something to be proud of. “You’re right, she is cute,” Kennedy jokingly grinned and Alexander laughed in union with his company, his hand pressed against Lilith’s back in the act of showing the youth off to his companion.
Lilith wore strangely black shorts and a tight short-sleeved black shirt, with high knee boots that matched her two pieces. Her hair braided in a long pony tail, the tightness of the hair accentuating her bunny-like features.
It wasn’t her that wanted to wear what she had on now, it was actually Alexander’s suggestion, Lilith did contemplate why Alexander did urge for Lilith to wear such compact and exposing clothing, nonetheless, the situation that happened now must’ve been the reason. Lilith was somewhat a trophy-girlfriend to Alexander. The young girl was perceived as the mysterious forbidden fruit as no one really knew her background aside from herself and Alexander; or even her age.
“Come on, make us something to eat, he’s came all the way from California,” Alexander comically managed the young girl who promptly listened to his order and bustled towards the large kitchen to prepare dinner for all of them; though, there was this feeling in Lilith she didn’t understand, she didn’t comprehend why this sour and bitter feeling advanced in her body, the sensation boiling into anger and she didn’t know when there’ll be a time where she does burst and does something against Alexander.
Perhaps she would poison him and leave the guy for dead as she becomes free with her life, nevertheless, the feeling of being alone in this world scared her, there was barely anything she knew about it, on the other hand, Lilith didn’t figure out why she felt these emotions, she believed the bond between Alexander and her was completely normal.
Lilith hastily pushed the train of thoughts to the back of her head prior she resumed the preparation of the material for the three of them.

Isabella had discovered one of the books Venus read, Isabella gathered that it belonged to the “Song of Ice and Fire” collection but the specific published novel Isabella had now held in her hand was called ‘Fire and Blood.’
She hummed slightly intrigued by her daughter’s choice of novels, howbeit, Isabella had figured the books gave the girl comfort and she didn’t want to rudely take that away from Venus, so the mother stored the book in her bag fore she carried on with her travel.
Moreover, Isabella was almost out of Wyoming, her next stop was Nebraska and the moment Isabella would find a suitable place for her and Lana, she would seek to rest, nevertheless, Isabella knew that right now there was no moment to take a breach as she heeded the audible croaks of Stalkers.
Isabella sighed under her breath, this meant that these Type 2 infected knew that she was here, they just took disguise. Slowly, Isabella took out her pistol non-dismissive of the fact that there’ll have to be a moment where she would have to look for more of them sooner or later.
The woman was cautious of her surroundings, though, the Stalkers still took her by surprise the moment they began to charge towards her, Isabella hastily noticed that there were dozens of them, so the woman had no time to get off her horse and switch to her hunting rifle.
She had to think fast and smart, Isabella comprehended she couldn’t kill all of them, she relieved majority of her bullets into some of their heads and kicked Lana to run faster as her main objective was to survive till Nebraska.
“Fuck,” Isabella hissed as she saw more of them come out of hiding due to the loud noises of the bullets being released. Isabella pushed the gun back into her holster before she gripped the reins harshly with both of her hands and commanded Lana to go faster, even though it seemed cruel, it was for the both of their safety.
Their croaks and groans grew louder, quicker, and Isabella felt like her heartbeat chased its seconds. Yet, Isabella still had hope and fealty that she was going to make it out. After a handful of minutes, Isabella was sure that she evaded all of them as she gently reassured Lana that she didn’t have to amble and scamper as fast; the matriarch did have to remind herself that she did have to be snug and intact for the sake of her children, for the sake of Kai and even for the sake of growing hither with Joel.
Isabella exhaled at the idealistic thought, she weighed Joel as someone who wasn’t the type to get into relationships, the man seemed comfortable with his life and Isabella didn’t want to trouble him, the matron was ruffled at the thought, she was normally someone who got whoever she wanted, but there was always a first for everything.

Once again, Ivy and Ellie shared each other’s presences in Ivy’s cabin, uncontrollably laughing at the poor sketch Ivy has drawn of Ellie in Art class, Ivy ventured countless of times to snatch away her piece from Ellie but the auburn-haired girl was too strong to give up.
Ivy sighed defeated upon the moment she released the drawing, Ellie snickered at the poor attempt of Art, her eyes rolled towards Ivy who sat on her seat, disconcerted and flustered, “I’m going to keep this,” Ellie covertly teased which caused Ivy to roll her eyes in response, in success, Ellie put Ivy’s paper in her bag, unzipped the object to put the piece in and then hastily zipped it closed.
She chucked the backpack away and took a good look around Ivy’s cabin. “You need to decorate more.”
Ivy snorted, “I basically just came here.” Ellie shrugged in response, “you’re right, I need to set up some of the butterfly badges I collect anyways,” she informed the freckled face girl who looked at her with a confused façade.
“Butterfly badges?” Ellie repeated, perplexed.
Ivy beckoned her head at Ellie, happy at the thought of butterflies. “Yup, now don’t make me get into butterflies, or I won’t stop speaking about it, trust me,” she childishly joked, one thing that did lowly upset Ivy was that majority of her butterfly badges were lost ever since her and her family escaped the previous society, they once inhabited in.
“I used to collect Savage Starlight comics,” Ellie perceptively commented, there was something about collecting things that made Ellie feel warm, perchance it was because it made her feel like she was like a kid before the outbreak happened, “well, it was actually Joel who found most of the comics for me, but yeah I have the entire collection of them.”
Interested by Ellie’s relationship with Joel, Ivy remembered when she was informed that Ellie and Joel had some-what of a father and daughter relationship, but the dark-haired girl also retained the awkward and tense energy Ellie and Joel shared with one another. “Speaking about Joel, I thought you two had a close relationship,” the girl recalled as a consequence, Ivy could tell that Ellie did not want to speak about the topic of her and her former guardian.
“Yeah,” Ellie languidly whispered, her light eyes avoided Ivy’s as she gracelessly scratched the back of her head.
Ivy nibbled at the bottom of her lip, green and incompetent about what to speak about. “Um, well, have you noticed that Dina has been avoiding us?”
Ellie sneered and jeered at Ivy’s annotation, she did jeer at Ivy but at Dina’s clear envy, it was Dina being Dina. She liked making others jealous but she didn’t like it when she felt that covetous and emulous emotion. Even if Ivy was new to the community, she already knew how Dina functioned.
“Y’know,” Ivy began to suggest, “I’d rather talk about it with Dina than allow these petty antics to continue.”
“I’d rather not.”
Ivy’s shoulders dramatically dropped. “Ellie, are you guys always like this?” She whined evidently as of now exhausted by everyone’s childish tomfoolery. “Communication is the best thing to do right now.”
“Well, I don’t feel like communicating,” Ellie bluntly discouraged.
Ivy breathed out heavily in dissatisfaction, her mind now made up. “You know what? Rowan was right.”
Ellie’s light green eyes flickered towards Ivy, let down by Ivy’s comment. “You’re honestly listening to what Rowan said?” Ellie crudely bickered just as Ivy rolled her eyes crimpled and embittered.
“He’s the only one who’s been honest and mature to me, so yeah, I’m going to listen to him.” It was instantly with little sound, two of the girls stood their ground, arms crossed dissatisfied of what just happened. “This is what I feared would happen,” Ivy gently muttered, “I did not want to be a part of this.”
“Be a part of what?” Ellie tiredly inquired.
“A part of this bullshit,” Ivy responded as if Ellie was dim, “we both know why Dina is avoiding us, and you would rather not talk about it with her! You guys might be used to sweeping these emotions under the rug but I’m not, I want to speak about it and work out the situation so there’s no bitter feelings on anyone’s end.”
Ellie pushed herself off her feet, her arms dangled at her sides as she looked at the dark-haired girl opposite her, her gaze doubtful and indeterminate. “Ivy the reason why I’m dubious of speaking about the situation because it might make things fucking worse, okay?”
Ivy glowered at Ellie, distrustful at what she said. “And how would it make the situation worse?”
“Because it would result with me losing one of you.”
Ellie’s eyes were shaded and dour, her once irritated expression now covered with hopelessness. Ivy gently whined in complaint, Ellie truly didn’t know what she wanted and it upset Ivy. Ivy’s hands were on her hips, mentally conquered, she silently wished that she didn’t grow close with Ellie or even joined their friendship group so this integrated thing didn’t happen.
“Ivy,” Ellie gently called out, she tenderly reached out for the girl who hastily dodged Ellie’s touch.
Ivy didn’t like to be seen as an option, and Ellie clearly laid-out that if there was a time, she wouldn’t want to be with Ivy she would be with Dina. “I’m tired,” Ivy briskly lied, her eyes avoided Ellie’s strong gaze, the red-haired girl stood there, stumped.
Aware that Ivy didn’t want her in the cabin any longer, Ellie mildly exhaled and picked up her backpack whilst she prepared herself to leave. With one of the backpack’s arms on her shoulder, Ellie walked towards Ivy’s front door at the same time Ivy escorted her to the opening of her cabin. Silent, once again; words buzzed in Ellie’s mind as she reached for the door handle, Ivy’s existence behind her caused Ellie to be timid and uneasy.
“Fuck it,” she cursed, Ellie hauled her hand away from the knob and expeditiously turned to look at Ivy, didn’t think twice prior she enveloped the Rosalind girl into a kiss.
Surprised but captivated by Ellie’s aimless kiss, Ivy returned the deed, intensely and devotedly caressed and embraced the girl who drove her arm around Ivy’s waist, possessively brought Ivy’s figure against her body as her tongue slipped through her opening, soft whines and moans echoed one another, both desirous and avid for each other’s taste and grasp.
Heavily breathed against each other’s faces the moment they let go of one another, still longed for each other’s warm clutch. Still taken aback by Ellie’s random move, their forehead pressed against each other as they shakily released happy but shy giggles, their requited caress locked the affections and sentiments they felt for one another.

Her tired and epicene body located on the distasteful bed she shared with her boyfriend, laid there exhausted as Alexander and Kennedy minded their bodies to continue with their day as Lilith continued to rest on the bed, too impaired and miffed to move her figure off the object.
Her body bare but soon barely draped by the duvet, her back still exposed and divested at Alexander and Kennedy; Kennedy briskly sauntered out of the bedroom not in the spirit to feel convicted and damned of his behaviour.
Left alone with the man she recognised the most, except, Lilith would be lying if she said she identified Alexander. This was not the man she had met in London, oh how she wished she was smart enough to stay back in England, in spite of the fact that her father displayed the same behaviour of Alexander.
“Lily?” Alexander kindly called out during the moment he prepared his belt around his waist.
“Hm?” Lilith softly and weakly replied, her right arm dangled off the bed, eyes stung as she held back her tears.
Alexander exhaled through his nose and seconds later Lilith could hear his footsteps near towards her physique. “If you loved me, you would be happy right now,” Alexander freely encouraged her, “sex feels good, you’re supposed to be glad.”
Though for Lilith, it didn’t feel good. “Whatever ecstasy you and Kennedy felt, I didn’t feel the same thing.”
“It supposed to feel good for you because you love me, Lilith,” his voice curved into something harsher and impolite, ostensibly contradicted the false persona he usually put on to deceit the young teenager. “I give you everything, clothes, a roof over your head, money and all you have to do is be happy, but what I give to you seems to never be enough.”
Alexander emerged to be rougher with his clothing, threw and pulled them against his skin, evidently crossed about Lilith’s somewhat ungrateful behaviour, even though she had the proper reason to be upset between them. “Enough of this shit,” Alexander rudely muttered under his breath, after he finished putting on his clothes, he stomped out of the bedroom, firmly slammed the door shut and hiked downstairs to accompany his friend.
Lilith tightly secured her eyes shut, mutedly requested her cries away during the moment her dismal and ominous thoughts cleft and punched into her mind. As much as Lilith was scared of death and what came after it, in the interim, Lilith wanted to touch demise so badly, she craved for death to wrap its long cloak around her body and indulge her energy and spirit, if she even had enough for demise to be satisfied.
There she laid quiet and bleak of her existence, her eyes weak and her exhaustion taking her into a trance, and so she wished that her sleep would take her into the oblivion she desperately waited for.

CHAPTER THREE - A GAME OF THRONES
WORD COUNT - 1,233 WORDS.
RATING - G.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
On the porch deck, the little girl sat down, gathered in her own thoughts as she was half-way through the published document that was considered too mature for her, a Game of Thrones, even though Venus adored the book she did desire to have the other books George R.R Martin published.
The girl waited for her siblings as today was the first day of school for the three Rosalind children and Venus felt indifferent about learning and meeting new people she would most likely ignore, the weather was nice, hot enough for the girl to not wear the black jumper she normally wore over her long-sleeved buttoned shirt.
Her mother contrived and pleaded for Venus to wear something lighter so she wouldn’t overheat under this climate and for her mother to stop objecting, Venus followed suite and threw one a fitted white short-sleeved button up shirt Ivy made for her a couple of months ago.
“You’re a bit too young to be reading that.”
Joel stood at the bottom of the deck stairs, watched the young girl with an entertained façade on his face, his arms were crossed and eyes impertinent to what must’ve drawn the young girl to the mature novel.
“My mummy said that I’m not allowed to speak to strangers.”
Joel pressed his lips together, heedless with what to say, yet, still entertained by the girl. “Speaking of your mother, where is she?”
“Working at the Diner,” Venus forwardly responded during the moment she closed her book, Joel marked Venus impressed with how easy it took Isabella to make herself comfortable within the community.
“Is that right?” He hummed weakly snowed by the information, Venus beckoned her head, unsettled and obscured to why the older man seemed interested with what her mother was doing.
Belatedly, Ivy and Robin left their cabins, eventually ready to go to school, the two older Rosalind siblings promptly noticed the taller man who stood at the bottom of the short steps of stairs speaking to their younger sibling. Still and all, the moment he realised that Ivy and Robin stood there, perplexed to why he was here, Joel sent them a comfortable smile prior to silently bidding Venus a goodbye and making his way down the pavement.
Venus lifted herself from the deck and shortly made her way down the stairs and towards her siblings who poised there ready to hit Venus with a bunch of questions.
“What were the two of you speaking about?” Robin asked, intrusive and meddling about the interaction Venus and Mr. Miller with each other.
Venus shrugged her shoulders, blasé and inattentive of his question, yet still replied out of manners, “he was asking me where mum was.”
“And did you tell him?” Asked Ivy and Venus nodded her head as an answer, “why?” the older sibling clicked her tongue, the last thing she wanted was an odd man being a creep to her mother.
Finally, honoured to say what was in her mind, Venus weirdly smiled at Ivy with a knowing look on her face, “because I know mum likes him.”
Startled and dismayed by the material Venus just threw into their faces. Ivy and Robin shared surprised ganders with each other, evidently wanting to know to a greater extent about their mother’s infatuation with the Miller man they attempted to block Venus from walking more but their curiosity was shut down with Ellie who made her way towards the three siblings. Her face more positive compared to when they first met her.
“Ellie,” Ivy was first to notice the red-head, she stood up straight, face contented to see the girl.
As observing the Rosalind family were, as expected, Venus and Robin remarked the positive spirit Ivy expressed just by seeing the William girl. “Hi, Ivy,” Ellie kindly greeted the dark-haired girl and then turned to Ivy’s younger siblings and graced them with an accessible smile. “Robin, Venus.”

It didn’t take long for Isabella too adapt herself in the new environment, she wasn’t on chef duty yet, Maria fashioned Isabella to take on orders before she could move into the kitchen, the widow was somewhat upset she was not in the cuisine yet, but she had a gut-feeling it wouldn’t take her long to move there.
Notably with how Maria and Tommy boasted about the apple-pie Isabella baked for them, they both bragged and gloated about how they gobbled all the pieces and crumbs; advertising the additional women to the citizens who clearly looked appetized and interested to eat the apple-pie the leaders of the town spoke about.
“I promise I’ll make enough apple-pies and other desserts for the entire of Jackson,” Isabella kindly joked before she noted down an order a customer arranged, unaware of the presence that came forward near to her, though with the motives to speak to his brother about the patrols outside Jackson.
Nonetheless, the moment she heard his deep thick Texan accent, her eyes rose to him with a short smile, quietly watched him have a short conversation with his brother, yet, Isabella didn’t want to appear as eccentric and flaky so she carried on with her task with giving the people in the kitchen the current order she received. The chore was agile and brief and Isabella was able to return the counter and face Joel who sat on a seat in front of her.
“Excuse me,” a hoarse and harsh voice, different than Joel’s called out to her, the woman turned to face a man who she remembered was Seth. He ran a local bar named the Tipsy Bison and was a cook himself, he was a tall man, will full silver hair that was short, his face wrinkled and quite saggy, he didn’t have the kindest eyes or appearance, and he stared at Isabella with a harsh expression, almost disgusted.
Isabella pushed the uncomfortable energy he brought to her and kindly spoke to him, “hi, may I take your order?”
Seth nodded his head whilst he gently coughed without covering his mouth then did a gesture with his hand, urged Isabella to come forward, and so she did. Slightly distressed by Seth’s suspicious behaviour, the woman still behaved professional and wrote down whatever the man needed, but every time a man pronounced a word in a sentence, it seemed like he was disgusted by her.
“If you don’t want me to take your order, you could’ve called for another staff.”
“You’re the closest one,” Seth sneered and Isabella felt her lip twitch, irritated she beckoned her head in respect before she pulled herself to the kitchen and passed down the note that had the old man’s order.
Isabella perceived herself as an intelligent woman, and she discerned that the type of moody stance Seth had with her had a root, she took one last glance at the man who stared at her with a hint of antipathy and hostility then she felt an unpleasant sensation in her stomach.
With his attitude it seemed like Seth knew Isabella, and the thought of that made her feel rotten; as years passed from her history. Isabella tried her best pushing down her yore and antiquity, she acknowledged it wasn’t the best past someone could live through or be remembered by, and every time Isabella’s past ran through her mind, she continuously attempted to remind herself that everything she did, was to survive.

20th of SEPTEMBER 2013
Both exhausted by the colossal amount of food they’ve chewed down, the 20th of September was the last night the two stayed in the abandoned home, it was declared that Alexander’s friend was on their way to pick them up, so, insightful that their trip, to the safe area their friend was going to escort them to was going to take quite a while. Meaning that it would be more difficult to catch food and even catch sleep.
“I’m so happy that we’re going to get out of here,” Alexander tiredly whispered, his body angled and inclined opposed to the couch he sat on. His body furtherly limp than it usually was, slowly, Lilith sneakily peered at the plate of food she served to him not too long ago, in broad thought, as she returned her gaze to Alexander, who rested the back of his head at the top of the couch, his body spread in enervation.
Lilith sadly pressed her cheek against the furniture, her eyes burly and doe, attentive and benign of the approaching outcome. “I hate you for all the things you’ve done to me.”
Confused, Alexander mumbled in response, too feeble to say a word. “What you did to me was wrong, everything, was wrong, I shouldn’t have come to America with you.”
With a random deluge and wave of strength, Alexander pulled himself closer to Lilith for her to only avoid his graze, she hastily hopped to her feet, her presence off the sofa and away from him. Jazzed and ready that there’ll be a ferocious and dangerous moment between the two.
“Lilith, come to me,” Alexander angrily urged.
“No,” Lilith refused as she shook her head. “I’ve listened to you for years, it’s enough. I’ve had enough with everything you have done to me! You’ve groomed me! Raped me! Allowed your friends to rape me, you’ve abused me and done every imaginable thing a sick bastard like you could think of!”
“Lilith, you don’t know what you’re saying.”
She squinted her eyes at him in incredulity, in disbelief that this was the man she thought loved her. “No, I do know what I’m saying, I just naively allowed you to control my chain of thoughts, my behaviour, what I wear, what I do, what I say, and I won’t allow that no more, no.”
His skin dry as his breathing commenced to be faster and heavier, perplexed of the scenario and what was happening to him, Alexander established it difficult to keep up with the young girl, who stood a handful of steps away from him. His visions blurred and his heartbeat fast.
“Luckily for me, you didn’t control my interest for plants and flowers,” her chuckle arid and dry, keen on the dirty glare Alexander shot towards her, “one of the pages from the book I once bought, thank you for the money by the way, had a section about belladonna plants.”
“Why should I care about the belladonna plants?” Alexander rudely seethed, imprudently not aware with what Lilith hinted at.
“You should care because Belladonna is the most poisonous plant, Alexander,” Lilith comically replied, slightly entertained by his foolish persona. Benignant by his own naïve nature, Lilith clasped her hands, faux concerned.  “Others know it as Belladonna, others know it as deadly nightshade, the devil’s cherry or even dwale. It is so poisonous that even a simple touch can negatively impact a human. That’s why I had to carry it off safely, you know, so I don’t have an ending such as yours.”
“And I, put enough in your food to make you unable to walk without help, do you feel that? Your heart beat increasing, your breathing sprouting and your vision blurring? Soon enough you will feel the need to vomit, and you will do so then you will die in your own eject and lie in it like the futile, moronic man you are.”
As well as she said that, Alexander collapsed in a kooky and daft position, his body rattled and convulsed whilst he attempted to reject the vomit that attempted to sprout through his throat. Compensated with her goal, Lilith at once walked towards him, bent down and softly stroked the moist strands of his hair. “Like I promised, I will be your last girlfriend,” she uncivilly whispered, her hand tightened around his strands during the moment she slammed his head against the ground, aimed to make his punishment abominable. Alexander choked a bit of his heave Lilith successfully dodged in the act of watching his death.
Heretofore, she accomplished her task and was definite that the man was gone, Lilith deliriously removed and took all the weapons, drinks and food she would need for her journey to wherever life wanted to escort her.

Joel sat on his single chair that was placed on the deck outside of his home, comfortably rested with his left leg on top of his right thigh. Composedly played his acoustic guitar while Venus shared his company and rested flat on her stomach on his deck, focused on her homework with the comfortable tunes the older man played that abetted Venus to complete her piano lessons homework.
All she had to do was remember the names of the key and where they belonged, she didn’t find it hard but the circumstances of yesterday made it difficult for Venus to peruse.
Ever since Venus was saved by Joel and had her bite revealed to him, the two seemed to grow closer. Joel didn’t expect to be allayed by the presence of Venus, but when he came to know of her sarcastic, grumpy and intelligent charisma, he found himself comforted by her. She was a curious girl, questioned everything around her but seemed to learn quick.
“I wonder if mum will come back home,” Venus lowly wondered.
“Don’t worry, kid, your mother will come back,” Joel kindly encouraged.
“If my mum doesn’t come back, it won’t be the first time I lose a parent.”
Joel stopped playing his guitar, rested the instrument aside, eyes attentive to the young girl who had a small pout on her face, unsure of her mother’s safety. “You lost your father quite young, didn’t you?”
Venus beckoned her head, all of her siblings lost Kai when they were very young, but Venus lost him at an age where she would’ve for sure forgotten about him. “He died when I was three, so I don’t remember the moments we had with one another, plus, mum doesn’t really speak about him to me. The only thing I remembered hearing is that he died of poison within one of the societies we once lived in, the society poisoned most of their believers.”
Joel alarmed and dazed with the anecdote Venus who grew quiet had just told him. She resumed her homework, alert of her emotional nature that led her to speak about her deceased father. Joel in thought of Isabella had pondered if she were okay, noted that the strength she had seized throughout the years of her living; losing someone was vital, and Joel comprehended that the loss of a lover and the father of her children must’ve been extremely dismal and sombre for her. So, he had silently wished for her to come back, in effort to display that there would be someone who she could lean on.

Finding the strength to move their lips away from each other, Ivy rested her head against Ellie’s bust, both reassured in each other’s embrace, with the way her face was angled, Ivy wasn’t able to notice Ellie’s face that pondered. Ellie looked down on Ivy’s cranium, gently nudged the other woman to gain her attention. “Ivy,” Ellie smoothly called.
“Hm?” Ivy lightly responded, angled her sight upwards to match with her admirer.
“What happened yesterday night?”
Ivy wasn’t alarmed that there would’ve been questions about what happened that period of darkness. In fact, Ivy was actually glad someone wanted to speak about what occurred. “It was weird, we all had weird nightmares, and Venus sleepwalked outside.”
“I heard that she kept on repeating something.”
Ivy lightly pulled her head, not in the stance to convey what Venus repeated. “Yeah, she was stuck in some trance, luckily, Joel came and saved the day before she fell into the wrong hands.” Ivy was alleviated when Joel was the one who woke Venus from her trance, due to the fact that if it was anyone else who caught her and saw the bitemark, Venus would have become top-news in the town and people might’ve even debated about if it was safe to keep her younger sister in Jackson.
“Joel’s always here to save the day,” Ellie dryly joked, considerably nostalgic of her time with the older man. “He always protects.”
Ivy considerably remained reticent, curious about Ellie’s days with Joel Miller. “It sometimes got annoying but I knew he had good motives whenever he did something that irked me.” Ellie contemplated that she had missed Joel, on the other hand, the definite action he has done has caused Ellie to backtrack into her space whenever it crept back into her mind.
Uncomfortable about speaking of her lost bond with Joel, she reminded herself of the object she had found for Ivy. “I found this for you.” A Comma Butterfly badge, under the gaze of the two women, who both gingerly smiled at the piece.
“Thank you, Ellie,” Ivy tenderly appreciated ere she thinly pressed her lips against Ellie’s freckled cheeks who called her lame for the nimbly gesture. The two girls prepared themselves to leave Ellie’s cabin, they thought it was suitable to go eat at the Diner Ivy’s mother worked at. The Diner was called Three Sisters and Isabella’s addition has caused the business to flourish exceptionally.
Hand in hand, Ellie and Ivy strolled down the community of Jackson and kindly greeted citizens they passed by. It might’ve been a coincidence and fortuity to bump into Rowan who had the permanent smirk on his face, or the expression always activated whenever he saw either Ellie or Ivy.
“Rowan,” Ivy calmly welcomed, her grip strong around Ellie’s.
“Ivy,” Rowan nodded at her then looked at Ellie, “Ellie,” he greeted but received no response from the girl. “How’s everything going for the both of you?”
“Everything’s going well,” Ivy genially replied.
Rowan uncontrollably snickered, “I’m surprised, Ivy, I thought you were smarter than to join that friendship groups love quarrel---”
“Fuck off Rowan!” Ellie rudely spat, untimely annoyed with the man’s presence, unmistakably not wanting to hear another word from Rowan, Ellie drastically pulled Ivy away from Rowan and continued their hike towards Three Sisters.
Without uttering another word, Ivy looked back to check on Rowan, yet his figure disappeared within the crowds that surfed the area. “I honestly don’t know how you can tolerate that guy,” she distressingly mumbled under her breath, slowly tugged Ivy closer to her so they could enter the Diner in sync.
“Trust me, I’ve met way worse than Rowan,” the dark-haired girl lightly joked, jointly entered the building with her romantic partner. The warm air welcomed them as the respectful staff greeted the two young girls for their orders.
Tumblr media
With their masks that capped their faces, both Robin and Joel released their ammos into the infected within the abandoned hotel Joel tasked the two to clear out. The spores in the building were able and substantial, fortunately, before the two entered the place they had the gut feeling to put the covers on.
For the amount of bacterium that floated around the atmosphere, Robin speculated that there must’ve been an infected, vast and colossal that stalked the area, the young boy was not wrong, when a large figure loudly shrieked through the architecture, its horrifying and abominable merged body stomped through an opening, both Joel and Robin taken aback, took a couple of steps away from the being.
“A fucking Rat King!” Robin gasped, taken by surprised, but educated of the monster. Its body was fused with multiple stalkers, clickers and a bloater, its skin bloody and figure internal and impious, Joel stepped in front of Robin out of protection and pulled out his shot gun and governed Robin to do the same.
The duo, crazily shot their large bullets into the Rat King’s body, ambitious to take it down. The mass of destruction the boys discharged into the infected inferred a stalker to rip its bondage with the Rat King’s body, freed its interpolated figure from the large being. Robin took the duty to blast the head of the Stalker’s body off its neck as he liberated at least five Shot Gun bullets into its cranium as Joel released a Molotov cocktail into the Rat King who attempted to aim mycotoxins towards them which they successfully avoided.
With all their ammos, fire and explosive weapons, Joel and Robin attacked the Rat King with all their might, Robin, angrily darted his bullets into the infected that slowly began to fall apart. His acrimony and antagonism aided the duo in their victory as the Rat King finally razed down and withered.
“It seemed like you had a personal agenda against the Rat King,” Joel jokingly pointed out while he pulled his weapon down.
“Somewhat like it,” Robin densely shrugged his shoulders keen to leave the area until he observed a Clicker that paced towards them two, finally, released its awful yelp ere it attempted to attack the older man, but Robin was swift, he hastily balled his ammo into the infected mercilessly.
Thankful of Robin’s abrupt and fiery actions, he patted the top of the younger boy’s curls. “Thank you,” he responsively thanked, Robin welcomed him, ready to leave the place though a packet of Yellow Rose seeds caught Robin’s attention.
“Why did you pick that up?” Joel curiously inquired.
“My mum likes gardening, and knows a lot about Flower Language,” Robin sincerely answered, the thought of his mother fashioned the irked thoughts of the Rat King go away.
“What do Yellow Flowers mean?”
Robin blithely looked at him. “Friendship.”
Joel raised the both of his eyebrows, attentive and touched by the information. The two carried on to leave the hotel, Joel fascinated by the idea of Isabella gardening had desired to see the outcome of Isabella’s green thumb nature.
Now cordial and earnest, the two returned to Jackson and patiently waited for Isabella’s return.

CHAPTER TWO - THE IMMUNITY GENE
WORD COUNT - 2,292 WORDS.
RATING - G. [MENTIONS OF DEATH AND KILLING]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It has been inadequately two days subsequent to the emotional encounter Isabella had with Venus, following the moment, the Rosalind family have become more comfortable in Jackson. Ivy and Robin slowly grew bonds with members of the community their age and Venus promised her mother she will soon get out of her comfort zone and make companions just like her siblings.
At present, Isabella made her way down the community of Jackson with a well baked apple pie in her hands, it was her way of saying thank you to the couple who allowed the Rosalind family take residency in the society. She could feel the looks each member passed onto her due to the dessert in her hands, Isabella didn’t think of herself much of a skilled person, but she was familiar with how well she was able to bake or cook.
It didn’t take long for the matriarch to arrive and she hoped at least one of them was at home so she didn’t look like a fool bringing two of the most important members of the society, food. Nevertheless, it was the morning; the house was the largest house in Jackson, Isabella wasn’t surprised, if she created and helped build a community, she would’ve wanted the largest house of all.
Shortly, the front door was open and there stood a just-woken-up Tommy in his bed clothes, rumpled and bedraggled, slightly surprised about who stood opposite him but what quickly caught his attention was the cinnamon-apple scent that cuffed his nose.
“Hey,” Isabella kindly greeted and proximately Maria’s voice was herd throughout the house along with her footsteps as she urged herself towards the front door.
“Good morning, Ms. Rosalind,” Tommy attentively welcomed as he made some space for Maria to examine what was going on.
“Oh, just call me Isabella,” the widow benevolently reassured and gently pushed forward the pie to display to them why she was here, “I just want to thank the both of you for allowing my family and I to stay here,” Isabella elucidated.
Maria was the one to take the pie away from Isabella prior she approved for Isabella to come in. “You’re welcome, I thought it was the right thing to do, we don’t usually allow people to just come in,” Maria explained as Tommy closed the door right after Isabella stepped into their home. “Thank you for the pie, it smells delicious,” Maria smiled as she placed the pie on the closest table she could find just as Tommy went into the kitchen to search for utensils, he could cut the dessert with.
“You’re welcome, it’s the least I could do,” Isabella mercifully replied as she awkwardly rubbed her hands against her thighs.
“I suppose you’re also here for something else?” Maria smartly questioned with a knowing look on her face.
Caught red-handed, Isabella stiffly smiled at the blond-haired women as she released a clumsy laugh. “You got me,” she dryly joked, “it’s nothing big I just want to start cooking for the diner,” which was also a place to hang out and a place for people to receive their missions to clear out places outside Jackson.
Maria perked her head towards Isabella delighted at the woman’s quest. “You want to work at the diner?” Maria repeated, cheerful. Isabella nodded in response to the authoritative woman, she needed to make money for her children some-how, and she Isabella was someone who always needed to be on the move, staying back in her cabin away from the danger and the all night and day fighting was going to cause disinterest soon enough.
The two women chattered regarding to Isabella taking place in the kitchen, it seemed like the two women found comfort in each other’s companies and Maria found Isabella’s dry and awkward humour entertaining. Sooner than later, Isabella left the Miller grounds with a positive and relieved smile on her face, things were moving smoother and better than she had thought, the matriarch believed that she would’ve had to sweeten Maria up to allow her to do anything in this town.
As she walked down the streets of the community it didn’t take her long for Joel’s figure to appear in her field of vision. He must’ve come back from outside of the gates of the society, since he looked rumpled and disarrayed, however, Isabella couldn’t help but think the wrinkled and dishevelled appearance he displayed was attractive, erotic even. Nonetheless, Isabella forced herself to stop thinking about the older man in such an amorous and obscene manner, it was inappropriate since he barely even bothered about her.
Yet, it didn’t take long for the older Miller man to grasp the orbs that stared onto his image, his response mute and restrained; Isabella couldn’t help but feel her cheeks burn out, as she was caught red-handed, once again, to break the awkwardness, she greeted the man only for him to grunt and faintly nod his head as an acknowledgment.
Tumblr media
“You know as we start going to the school, you’ll gain some friends, and gain people you’ll really trust and get along with, but, please, Venus, for our sakes and yours, don’t tell anyone about your bite,” Ivy beggingly requested her little sister who sat on a chair opposite of her; the three Rosalind children took seat in their mother’s kitchen, as they awaited for her arrival, previous this day their mother took them to enrol into the Jackson Community School where they would learn like the children prior to the breakout, live their lives like regular kids and grow a half-normal life.
Venus sat there; her cheeks slightly puffed as she frowned unmoved by Ivy’s plead. “I don’t think I’m going to make any friends there anyways.”
“Well, with that attitude, you won’t,” Robin joked with half of his body slouched on the comfortable chair he took place on, his right arm soft on the wooden table and his eyes bored onto Venus’ appearance. “Just because you’re bitten it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t make friends.”
Venus awkwardly shuffled, insecure, “but what if I do, and get them infected?”
Ivy gently snorted, cordial and heartfelt about her sister’s innocence and selflessness, “it won’t happen because we’re not infected.”
“What if you guys didn’t get infected because you carry an immune gene?”
Robin and Ivy quickly glanced at each-other, both shared the same thought, Robin furrowed his eyebrows, silently agreed with Venus’ question, “I mean…you can’t just randomly be immune,” Robin weakly jerked his shoulders, “unless one of our parents had it, who had their own parents that carry a gene that causes immunity to the bite.”
Venus shook her head as she pushed the possible thought away, “this is silly, my bite is just taking longer to function, it’ll happen one day and I’ll turn…into one of those things and one of you guys will have to take responsibility in killing me,” Venus, head was down as she sourly explained a what-if outcome to her older siblings who stared at her with a spurned disbelief expression on their faces.
“Who will take the responsibility to kill you?”
The three children’s faces moved with lurch towards the direction of the voice’s owner, who was audibly their mother, who stood in front of the cabin’s front door that was closed behind her. Disappointed and riled with what she just heard, they could tell with the way she bitterly puckered her lips and with the way her eyes confined, that she was choleric and furious.
The atmosphere was quiet and the two older siblings turned their heads to look at Venus who sat silently with anxiety that started to fuel her face. Her shoulders shrunk whilst she silently declined on repeating what she said.
“Venus,” Isabella sternly called as she made her way towards the table, her chafed energy enough to keep Venus’ head down, impatient, Isabella slammed her hands against the table, crossed, “Venus!” Isabella screamed convulsed, her roar frightened all of her children who dared not to move from their chairs, “look at me and tell me who will take the responsibility to kill you?!” She seethed, chafed and exasperated.
The young girl, with courage, finally looked up into her mother’s nettled eyes and replied, “I don’t know,” her eyes big in discomfort, aghast as she rubbed her palms against each other under the table she hid her hands neath.
The window clenched her jaw, disturbed by her own reaction, yet more sick and overturned with what she heard her youngest imply. “Okay,” Isabella said, clearly bothered, “I forbid you on speaking about your bite,” Isabella strongly directed, “not a word,” she declared, spilled and dismayed, “if I hear you speaking about it again, I will take away all your things until you understand, okay?” She faintly threatened as she pulled her hands away from the table in the act of watching Venus obediently nod her head, passive.
The woman strongly sighed; her eyes fell against the ground during the moment she tried to pull herself together. “I got a job at the diner,” she informed everyone but she could tell that everyone was well enough uncomfortable to celebrate, the matriarch heavily breathed through her nose as she proximately wiped her mouth with her palms, “Ivy, Robin, go to your cabins, Venus go to your room.”
The three of them were immediately on their feet, scurried off to where they were commanded to. Before leaving, Ivy and Robin quickly bid their mother a goodbye and congratulations before they completely exited the larger cabin, Isabella watched Venus scamper up the stairs without mentioning another word.
Tumblr media
“What book are you reading?” Isabella curiously questioned, her body leaned against the doorframe that led into the bedroom of her youngest kin, who sat up on her and shuffled through the pages of her almost worn-out book.
“A Game of Thrones.”
The woman raised both of her eyebrows, shortly impressed on how Venus hasn’t grown tired of reading the same book over and over again. “You’re reading it again?” Isabella asked and crossed her arms at the same time.
“Don’t have any other books so,” Venus quickly responded.
Isabella thinned her lips, knowledgeable that Venus was still tense about the previous altercation. “I just can’t keep having the same conversation, Venus,” Isabella tiredly announced to her daughter who looked at her with the side of her eyes. “Speaking so freely about your death…” the woman stopped speaking, the thought of her daughter dying sent an uneasy feeling through her physique. “It’s scary, it scares me, and it scares your siblings.”
The young girl lowered her head in culpability, ashamed and disappointed in herself that she brought those feelings to her loved ones. Just like a couple of hours ago, it was reticent between the two of them. Isabella languidly sighed before she walked towards Venus’ bed, she could tell that the young girl was on the verge of tears and Isabella hoped she was quick enough to elope the girl in a hug.
“I’m sorry mummy,” the girl wailed against her mother’s chest.
The older woman thoroughly murmured, “it’s okay Venus, just don’t say that again, okay?” Isabella mildly reminded and felt the girl nod her head against her chest, “you’re not supposed to die before me, it’s not supposed to happen that way.”
The daughter wiped her tears as she carefully paid attention to her mother’s authentic and honest words, “I mean it when I say that I don’t want you to ever speak about one of us having to kill you if you ever turn into an infected, now come on, get to sleep, I don’t want you to waste your energy thinking about what happened,” uprightly, Isabella also didn’t want to think about the heated interaction she shared with her daughter, Isabella sincerely loved Venus to an extent that Venus couldn’t comprehend just yet, possibly it was a symptom of a mother’s love.
“How about we take our minds off it with stories of dad.”
Isabella simpered at Venus’ request before taking her shoes off during the moment Venus pulled her duvet over her body with her mother following her not too long after, the two ladies comforted by the heat of the bedspread, with Venus on her back and Isabella on her side, her elbows used to aid her head that rested against her palm, “where should I start,” the widow jointly hummed whilst Venus’ eyes looked up at her.
“Oh,” Isabella gasped pleased of what she remembered. “Do you know it was your dad that came up with your name?”
Venus perked her right eyebrow, dumbfounded, “really?”
“Yeah, he wanted your name to mean something, y’know? Your father and I met on Valentine’s Day, and I think we immediately fell in love with each other, besides with all the calamity going on with the world, your father and I bonding with each other made us realise and appreciate that we can still find love in a world like this,” she reminisced, moderately stroked her digits through Venus’ curly locks, “he wanted your name to mean something because we both knew you were going to be our last child.”
It seemed like Isabella must’ve been speaking for an infinity length of time as she after period of a time realised that Venus was deep asleep, that’s the one of many things she liked about sending Venus to sleep, is that it didn’t take the young girl long to fall dormant. Watching her little girl trance, the matriarch wished that she could just freeze Venus’, Robin’s and Ivy’s ageing and have them stay as they are, as her young children and have them around her for eternity.

CHAPTER SIX - ANTIQUITY
WORD COUNT - 2,489.
RATING - G [MENTIONS OF DEATH.]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Here,” Robin passes a small packet of Daffodil seeds anent his mother, they both stood on her wooden porch deck under the warm heat of Jackson, Robin found the packet in his class that had a bunch of Daffodil plants on the window sills, Robin concepted that his class had enough of those and it’ll be cordial for his mother to restart her plant collections.
Isabella looked down at the small package with a little smile on her face, appreciative at her son’s kind gesture, she took the little bag with her left hand and ruffled Robin’s hair with her right hand, “thank you my sweet boy,” Isabella kindly displayed appreciation.
Robin smiled under his mother’s praise, his smile toothy and optimistic as he lightly begged his mother to stop messing with his hair.
“Alright,” Isabella aforesaid as she straightened her back, Robin threw his hood over his head, cheeks red, hoped no one saw the teasing his mother recently put him through. “Go get ready for the house warming, don’t want you looking destitute for the guests who kindly agreed to come.”
Robin cocked his eyebrow in disbelief, “and who was the one who just made me look homeless?”
Isabella lightly giggled at his complaint then shooed him off so she could continue to prep her home for the dinner that would begin a couple of hours later.
Tumblr media
Isabella requested the people she was most familiar with to her house warming dinner, with aim and purpose to get closer to them and have them on her family’s side. She invited the Miller family, Joel, Tommy and Maria, along with Ellie Williams whose guardian was Joel but it seemed like the two were quite distant and aloof with one another.
She also requested the presence of Kaylee and Adam Lorde, Isabella learned that the two were twins, Isabella figured that they were related but the Lorde siblings being twins was the last information she would have guessed.
Nonetheless, the Rosalind Matriarch also invited Seth, concretely to get on his good side, perhaps Seth saw through Isabella’s motives but it did surprise Isabella when he approved and sanctioned of her invitation. Ere coming to the house warming dinner, Seth did promise Maria that he was going to be on his best behaviour, considering his best behaviour was him being hushed and reticent, Isabella and Maria would rather Seth being incoherent than him starting a commotion.
Aside from Seth’s faint stance, it was quickly looked over with how everyone loudly communicated with each other, notably Venus herself spoke a couple of times. Joel and Isabella engaged in a cordial and genial conversation, Joel Miller’s sincere and fervent interaction with Isabella caused the widowed woman to be cheerful and gracious that he slowly opened up to her.
“It’s incredible that you brought up these children on your own, during the apocalypse things get ten times harder than it usually would be,” Joel pleasantly lauded the woman who had a content and gratified smile on her face.
“Please, it was really difficult---”
“What did you think Isabella’s not capable of raising the children on her own?”
Eyes fixed to look at the proprietor of the voice and there sat Adam Lorde, he sat far from Joel and Isabella, the dining table they had to use was long as there were eleven of them. Isabella sat at the end of the dining table and opposite her was Tommy who had Adam on his right side.
The noise fell awkwardly silent, as there were shared glances, specifically from Ivy and Robin who sat opposite each other on the dining table, without doubt, the two Rosalind siblings were going to parrot about the graceless and unfit moments of the house warming once it was over.
“I—I’m sure he didn’t mean that,” Isabella knitted down her eyebrows, perplexed and, untimely embarrassed about Adam’s comment.
Maria peered at Tommy with a knowing look on her face; Maria sat on Tommy’s left side, sneakily entertained about the scenario.
“Our gun classes are fun,” Ivy coughed, in hopes that the tension of the dinner would change and everyone would gather their positively entertained spirits back. “Teacher said that I can start patrolling soon.”
“I didn’t expect you to be so good at using a pistol,” Ellie covertly teased and Ivy threw a humoured look towards the freckled-faced girl who laughed behind her drink.
“We used to patrol in the last community we were in,” Robin forwardly mentioned, “well not Venus, but Ivy and I helped out a lot, trust me when I say that I believe Ivy could win against you in a gun fight.”
Ellie audibly snorted at Robin’s comment, “I doubt that, I had a lot of practice,” she slowly trailed off as she remembered that majority of her practice was with her ex-guardian, Joel.
“If you’d want, I can help you with gun practice,” Joel attentively suggested towards the Rosalind boy; Robin’s eyes swiftly brightened with anticipation and elation. Ellie raised the both of her eyebrows in a balked demeanour which was hastily hidden as she picked on her food.
“That would be so cool,” Robin happily approved and Isabella felt like she hadn’t stopped beaming throughout the entire dinner.
If the woman was candid, she didn’t care if her clear infatuation towards the older Miller boy was evident, the contended and ecstatic emotion he brought her overtook the thought of rejection.
Ergo, the house warming dinner continued with compliments towards Isabella’s food and drink making were thrown around numerous of times, the thought of making Isabella a chef had occurred in Maria’s mind a couple of times, and the mixture and range of food that were given to everyone on the table had boosted Isabella’s claim in the cuisine.
Speaking of variety of food, Kaylee recognised that much of the food were diverse and desired to know of Isabella’s roots, aside from her having previous British Nationality. “Ethnically where are you from Isabella?”
Isabella perked her head towards Kaylee, taken aback that Kaylee was able to notice the foreign persona the matriarch had. “Brazilian,” Isabella happily retorted, Isabella was a White Brazilian and with her change of last name it would’ve been difficult for the usual person to mark on the foreign background Isabella had, if Isabella were to use her birth last name, it would have been Isabella Silva.
“Ah,” Maria gasped intrigued. “Are your children fully Brazilian as well?”
Isabella shortly smiled just as she shook her head, “no, their father was from Egypt,” she listlessly responded including the way Isabella unenthusiastically replied to Maria’s question, the leader of the Jackson community was adept to read the room and dropped the list of questions she desired to ask.
“Was?” Kaylee innocently wondered, “meaning he’s dead?”
Isabella felt a hard kick in her throat, as she struggled to answer the question, she shared a shy glance with Seth who also silently required to hear Isabella’s response. Even though it seemed like Kaylee noticed her inappropriate demeanour and wanted to make up for her ill-timed manners, Isabella was able to cut-through her anxiety, “yes,” Isabella softly replied and quickly looked down at her food as she attempted to find a way to overcome her sullen attitude.
Kaylee felt herself sink in her seat, disconcerted and ashamed by her curt behaviour. She looked briefly at Adam who ogled at Isabella who seemed to cover her dour and fretful behaviour with a laugh as she heard her daughter, Venus mention something towards Tommy which seemed to make the guests laugh.
“How comes you didn’t invite Rowan?” Venus impertinently questioned Ivy who once again coughed in awkwardness, surprised by the arbitrary question her younger sister asked her. Ellie looked at Ivy taken aback and stupefied of the knowledge that Ivy and Rowan might’ve gotten close enough for her youngest sibling to know of him.
Isabella frowned, confused, she had the idea that Ivy liked Ellie, not the unfamiliar name that Venus spoke about, “who’s Rowan?”
Ivy shot Venus a soft glare and the young curly-haired girl shot back a gaze that was filled with fluster. “Rowan Sparke,” Ivy dully replied. “He’s just a boy.”
“Yeah, the most annoying,” Ellie rudely muttered.
“For Venus to bring him up I’m sure he’s just not a boy,” Isabella pointed out, entertained by the information her youngest easily spilled. Though with the uncomfortable movements Ivy made, Isabella quickly closed the topic and brought up if anyone of the adults wanted any liquor while the children could go upstairs and entertain themselves with board and card games.
Tumblr media
Isabella considered the housewarming dinner to be a success; aside from the few grunts and glares from Seth, she felt like she had advanced in the Jackson Community, having the main leaders of the society, Tommy and Maria beyond shadow of doubt were on Isabella’s side. Isabella was also able to feel the empathy points she secured from them when Kaylee asked about her husband, even though it wasn’t the optimum to speak about her husband as Isabella still mourned the loss of her Kai despite it being more than a decade of his death.
Despite the fact that if Isabella could love again, she would continuously grieve the death of him.
“Thank you for hosting,” Joel asserted and Isabella could feel her eyes glow as she noted his presence.
“Thank you for coming,” she acknowledged and Ellie walked by Isabella and cogent like the rest of the guests who recently left, she thanked Isabella for the invitation outwardly glanced at Joel as she sauntered out of the main Rosalind building. Joel ineptly looked down, patient till Ellie left before he bid Isabella a farewell and left to his home.
When Isabella was sure that all guests were gone and Venus was in her room and her other two children were in their cabins, the matriarch apace walked to her kitchen and took out the dessert she once made for Tommy and Maria as well as exiting her home to speak to the last guest she requested to wait outside her home.
Seth.
“Here,” Isabella gently passed on the dessert to the older man, “made it just for you.”
The hour was indubitable late, as each lamp posts of the society were on, it’s orange hue glimmering on both of their skins as they stood opposite each other. Isabella was sure almost everyone was home, tucked away in their beds at this time, but Isabella contemplated that at least there wouldn’t be anyone to see their interaction.
“You may have everyone kissing your feet but I’ll not fall for it.”
Isabella remained quiet, her arms by her side, hands gently clenched as she held herself back from saying anything. “You appearing, pretty like a damsel in distress with your traumatised children might’ve got everyone to believe the innocent façade you display,” his voice grunted, “you inviting me to your dinner will not cross out the fact that you murdered Alexander in cruel cold blood.”
Upset, Isabella gently lifted her head up so her eyes could level with his. “I did what I had to do to survi---”
“He was a good man!”
Isabella clenched her jaw, avoided his enraged and convulsed gaze, “I’ll tell Tommy and Maria of the woman you are---”
“And how?” Isabella angrily retorted, “you have no proof. No proof that I killed him, no proof of an image Alexander and I together.”
Seth sneered at the lady as he took out a small polaroid out his left back pocket with his free hand. He then balanced the picture with his thumb and index finger and there in the print was Alexander and Isabella, sixteen-year-old Isabella sat on Alexander’s lap as the man had his arm wrapped around the young lady’s waist.
Seth mentioned that this was the picture he found amongst the many things he discovered upon his arrival to retrieve Alexander and supposedly Isabella. Isabella was always divulged that she looked older than her age when she was younger, Isabella didn’t know how to forward Seth that she was a young teenager during that picture whilst Alexander was twenty-four.
“Lilith Black and Alexander Black,” he rudely cited, the two names were tagged at the back of the small picture and Isabella remembered the moment Alexander scribbled the titles down with his pen. “Change of identity doesn’t clean your past,” the old man impolitely pointed out and Isabella understood Seth undoubtedly wanted Isabella to always retain what she has done in the past and would do anything to make her honour and rank decline.
“It was him that was supposed to be here, not you,” he bitterly bristled in disgust, he’s jaw clenched in terrible frustration and Isabella swore she could see a vein pop on his jaw.
Her eyes hung low in culpability and disgrace, the woman never thought that there’d be someone who would make her feel at fault to what she had done to Alexander, she reminisced telling the story to Kai and how he soothed and reassured the woman that she had done the right thing.
“He helped you, saved you and you killed him,” he heatedly coughed, “he took care of you whilst all you did was be a whore and ask him for more than he could give.” Seth angrily waved the dessert she gave him in her face, “thanks for the pie, but it doesn’t take away the fact that I want you and your kids gone by this week,” he sharply hissed ere he left the hopeless woman alone in the opaque atmosphere that was aided by the light shade of the orange lamp post she was under.
Isabella didn’t wait to see his entire physique gone and immediately marched into her home moreover hastily closed her front door fore she unconsciously began to weep into a fit of tears that she strongly held back amid the racket Seth had for her.
The back of her hand rested against her mouth as she struggled to keep down the noises of her cry, thankfully, Venus was deep asleep so she wouldn’t wake up to her mother’s mess. Isabella quickly wiped her tears away as waves of thoughts crashed into her mind.
Perhaps Seth was right, perhaps Alexander was a good man and she took advantage of that and murdered him. Murdered a good man for her own survival and she would have to carry that weight for her entire life, in a matter of fact she already did. It haunted her whenever she was awake or asleep along with the numerous of deaths she recalled.
Futile and discouraged, Isabella stood in the darkness of her home and speculated that if it were best to gather her things and begin to depart Jackson with her children or if she should hold her ground and resist the man who clearly despised her.

5TH OF APRIL 2013
Lilith didn’t recognise or understand what she felt, or what she was supposed to feel. It was supposed to feel good? Wasn’t it? She was told that it was feel copacetic and inviting, but Lilith didn’t feel like that at all, a couple of hours ago Alexander did speak to his girlfriend and spoke to her in a way that made Lilith repute that she owed him her body.
He saved her, didn’t he? It was the least she could do, well, that was what Alexander said to Lilith.
He stood in front of her, shirtless, but his trousers pulled up to his waist as he completed to put on his belt, the room was stilled and whist, Lilith too soundlessly repulsed to say anything, Alexander caught onto her muted stance and dragged his index finger up her chin, “did you like it?”
His voice was quiet but rough, Lilith looked down at the ground as she accumulated the dispute she was going to say but all she could mutter was a simple, “yes.”
“Good,” Alexander kindly whispered ere he pecked a simple kiss on her forehead before he left the bedroom.
Left Lilith who sat on their cot in pain, she didn’t understand, she has done it with Alexander before numerous of times, but she couldn’t comprehend why it was today her body screamed in ache and discomfort. Perhaps, she wasn’t ready? Yet, Lilith believed she was damp enough for it to not hurt.
The amount of talk and thoughts that entered her mind overwhelmed her, aside from the pain, it was the alcohol bottles and the scent of lit candles and sliced cake on the table near their bed that added to her spiked emotions. It was Lilith’s sixteenth birthday and Alexander informed the young girl that it was two years till her official woman hood and that he wanted to appoint and prepare Lilith earlier and cause her to become a type of woman she morally shouldn’t have become until she was at least in her middle-ages.
Alexander had au fait Lilith that them having a child would strengthen the bond they currently had and Lilith knew that he just wanted to find a way to always have a connection towards her. For all that, Lilith was too tired to think of Alexander’s malicious motivations and she laid on their bed, tired and exhausted from their previous actions and had wished that time could just hastily hurry up so that the pain she felt between herself could work towards an end.
Tumblr media
It was Isabella’s day off from the Diner she worked in and the matriarch currently sat on a long chair on the deck. She was quiet throughout majority of the day and Isabella couldn’t remember if she slept or not; Venus and Ivy were at school whilst Robin was being taught how to better his use of a gun with Joel.
It wasn’t that busy in Jackson today, Isabella had only seen a couple of people walk past her within the last hour. Still, five minutes subsequent, Adam made his debut with a medium sized vase enclosed by his hands, the man thoughtful of the aesthetic of Isabella’s cabin, had painted the vase a dark shade of grey, sweet pea flowers established in the vase. Adam’s considerate gesture received Isabella’s grateful attention, Isabella was conversant about flower language and she theorised Adam knew what he was doing when he brought her sweet pea flowers as the plants meant, ‘thank you’ in flower language.
Aware of Isabella’s disturbed and toppled spirit, the man still passed the vase full of sweet pea flowers to her, capsized that something or someone was the reason the woman was frantic. “I just wanted to thank you for inviting my sister and I to your housewarming party, it was a pleasure being there,” Adam’s astute voice trailed off as he recognised that Isabella attempted to hold back her tears, he could tell that she was overwhelmed, perhaps passing the flowers to the woman expanded her emotions, “if you don’t like the flowers I can take it back—”
“No!” Isabella quickly choked; she shook her head hastily as she forced a happy expression on her face. “Thank you for these flowers, I appreciate it.”
“You’re welcome,” he beckoned his head, uneasy to leave the widowed woman alone, he wasn’t able to move more than three steps away from Isabella ere he returned to look at her, “if there’s an issue you can speak about it to me.”
“I’d rather just have your presence,” Isabella faintly commented, softly happy that Isabella didn’t shoo him away, Adam pulled himself up the deck stairs and walked towards the seat that was connected to what the woman sat on.
The Lorde man was certain that there would be whispers about him and Isabella moreover, Adam didn’t care if rumours about Isabella and him being in an affair would sprout, truthfully, it made Adam more confident about his pursue of the Rosalind woman; Adam thought to himself that it would be unrealistic if no one attempted to chase Isabella with romantic devotion.
She was beautiful, Isabella reminded people of old Hollywood beauty, with her brown curly hair, arched eyebrows, cupid bow lips and brown doe eyes. Adam’s eyes always fell on Isabella’s lips, especially during the night of the housewarming, it could be said that Isabella ticked off all the boxes for Adam, she was stunning, a great cook, a nurturer and evidently an admirable mother.
Adam believed that most men would’ve turned away from Isabella when they grasp that she has three children, but with the appearance the woman served was enough to keep someone around, the idea of having children of his own with Isabella was cordial, it was evident that the woman was able to produce fine and charming children. The Lorde man smiled at the thought of a kin of his running around with Isabella chasing after them.
It was silent between the two of them before Robin and Joel came back from training, when Isabella recognised the two boys, she automatically lifted her head from Adam’s shoulder, leaving the once warm spot cold. “Hi,” Isabella breathed during the moment she stood up to her feet.
Joel’s eyes flickered to Adam who followed Isabella and stood up from the seat they both once rested on. Joel nodded his head towards Isabella in acknowledgement as Robin greeted his mother with a hug, who then ordered her son to take the vase inside the house so she could privately converse with Joel and Adam.
Robin took the vase from his mother’s grasp and happily hiked into his mother’s home, Isabella turned away from Robin and dropped her eyes to Joel who stood at the bottom of the porch deck, not distressed to glance at Adam who stood tall beside her. “Thank you for helping Robin,” Isabella kindly mentioned, “I don’t know how I could repay you back.”
“You don’t need to do anything,” Joel gently reassured which caused Isabella to share a buoyant smile. Isabella couldn’t deny that his presence did make her happier, plus, Adam recognised her upbeat energy when the Miller man came forward. “He’s skilled at his age,” Joel surely said with a short simper on his manly face, to be precise, Isabella thought Joel who is usually perceived as a grumpy and cold man to smile, it was a strange thing to view, along with Adam who ogled at the macho masculine man who evidently was able to woo Isabella easier than him.
“And I’m done,” Robin swiftly exited the house, the hood of his hoody down and Isabella reached out to him to bring him closer to her body.
“Yeah, now it’s time to go to school,” Isabella light-heartedly joked. She could hear Robin click his tongue against the idea.
“I just came back from gun-training, it would be nice to rest.”
Isabella easily shrugged her shoulders, against the idea. “You can rest after school,” Isabella freely told Robin who didn’t stand a chance to argue with his mother, he quietly agreed to her claim and made way to his cabin to get his school supplies.
Humoured by their interaction, Adam hauled himself closer to Isabella, “it must be so tiring arguing with you seeing how easily he gave up.”
Isabella smirked at his devious comment. “Well, I’m his mother so he would never have a chance against me.”
“Isabella, can I speak to you privately?” Joel promptly interjected missing the swift glower that Adam sent his way.
The woman stood up straight, interested and prurient to what Joel had to speak to her about. “Uh, sure,” Isabella inquisitively answered and watched the man take the steps up her deck, Isabella curved to gaze at Adam who stood in hopes that Isabella would allow him in the house, “thank you for the flowers and thank you for being there for me,” she admiringly thanked.
Adam cheerily waved his hand, “it’s okay and you’re welcome,” Adam delightedly replied before he left the compound, pleased by their interaction Isabella turned to Joel then attentively approved the older man to enter her home.
Tumblr media
For Ivy’s class it was intermission, she was outside in the field that was specifically for the school, on a wooden bench with Rowan who accompanied her. “Cheers to your sister for mentioning me,” Rowan teasingly winked at the dark-haired girl who tried her best to not roll her eyes at him, he chuckled at her fake-provoked gesture.
“The more you annoy me the less I’d bring you over to see my mother,” Ivy moderately warned.
Rowan raised the both of his eyebrows at her taken aback. “You were going to make me meet your mother, already?!”
Ivy clicked her tongue, calmly annoyed but entertained by his annoying attitude. “As a friend, never as a lover.”
Rowan dramatically placed his hand against his chest as he muttered an “ouch” noise during the same moment Ellie came forward with Jesse beside her, “trouble incoming,” Rowan jokingly said under his breath as he watched the duo come closer into view.
“Ivy,” Ellie calmly greeted, deliberately ignoring the dark-haired male that sat with Ivy.
“Hi Ellie and Jesse,” Ivy coolly greeted. “What brings you here?”
Ellie and Jesse serenely looked briefly at each other. “We want you to come and hang out with us,” Jesse blithely responded, “and Dina’s waiting for us, so.”
Ivy shrugged her shoulders unbothered to move to another location to speak. “Why couldn’t you just all come here?” Ivy bluntly questioned yet keenly aware that the reason was because of the male figure beside her. Once noticing the second time Jesse and Ellie shared a glance the young girl heavily sighed, irritated by the petty dispute they shared with Rowan, specifically due to Dina. Ivy yet to question Rowan to what was the commotion between him and her precisely.
“Do not put me between you guy’s shallow bullshit, please.”
Ellie sighed frustrated, “it just makes things easier if you were just with us.”
“He’s barely did anything wrong for you guys to act so trivial,” Ivy rudely mentioned. “And I’m not going to argue about it,” Ivy earnestly thought that them being in a world where there was an apocalypse would make them augmented cultivated compared to teenagers who weren’t in a dystopia. To boot, it was likely because that they all took habit in a community that strongly took the stress of an undead dystopia off their shoulders that has caused them to act unfledged.
Without caring for a response from either Jesse or Ellie, Ivy gestured Rowan to accompany her away from the two that were now perceived as immature by Ivy.
“What did you do for them to hate you so much?”
Rowan derided Ivy’s question, on the other hand, he wasn’t taken aback to why Ivy would ask him that simple inquiry, anyone who witnesses the animosity they each shared for him would just be as curious as her. “All I did was make fun of their little love triangle,” Rowan easily answered, although, Ivy could tell there was an unspecified thing Rowan hid.
Ivy gently hummed to his response, “whatever, just don’t mind them,” she therefore lightly bounced her shoulders as the two made their way back to class.
Tumblr media
Isabella and Joel strolled into the foyer; the woman utterly tense to what the Miller man wanted to speak to her about.
“Like I said before, your son is excellent at using guns,” Joel once against complimented.
Isabella friendly smiled at the enticing man that stood before her, “thank you, he’s had a lot of practice when we made our way here,” Isabella attentively mentioned, she awkwardly clasped her hand together and pondered if there was something else Joel wanted to speak about.
“If you want anything to drink,” the woman glanced at her kitchen and curved back to look at him, “I could get you some.”
“I don’t want anything to drink,” he simply replied, “but if Seth’s antics are bothering you, you can tell me.”
Isabella gently widened her eyes at Joel dazed at what he just said. “He isn’t bothering me, I invited him to the housewarming party.”
“To get him on your side.”
Isabella thinned her lips, caught openly by her silly lie. “How he feels about me is unimportant.”
“Unimportant enough for you to look like a crying mess.”
Isabella sighed at the obnoxiously smart responses Joel retorted towards her. “His feelings towards me are reasonable, Joel,” the woman then calmly explained to him which caused the older man to put the rest of his weight on his left leg, both of his eyebrows cocked upwards as he looked at the woman indifferent and firm of what she just said.
“And what did you do?”
Isabella crossed her arms miffed about his persistence. “I—you know what? Why are you involving yourself in this situation? Joel?” She bluntly questioned clearly provoked by his interference, Joel shut down and took a step back, unaware on how to reply to Isabella’s rational inquiry. “I know what I’m doing and I know how I’m going to handle it.”
They two gaped at each other, Joel heedless and defeated on what to say. The only thing he could do was bow his head to a confused widow who stood opposite him, one who wondered why Joel participated in her situation with Seth so much.
“Okay,” Joel finally said, “I’ll leave you to it.”

Her name was Scarlett Lucille, was weighed as a popular loner, people did like her and spoke to her but she liked to keep to herself, the girl was a classmate of Robin and they were assigned to sit next to each other in Art Class. Scarlett did enjoy Robin’s art style, his design was rough but detailed, the type of art you’d see in an action manga, so itemized.
After she had scanned his piece, she had gathered the confidence to convey her message, “I like your drawing,” Scarlett timidly complimented, she had just erased a mistake she had attempted to perfect a couple of times and was quite envious on how easy accuracy came for Robin. It’s been about a month since Robin had entered the Jackson Community School and due to his appearance, he was briskly able to gain popularity, perceived as engaging and mesmeric, Robin was able to woo anyone with his grace.
Scarlett observed that Robin used his looks to get whatever he wanted yet she could sense there was a genuine persona about the boy that she liked. Robin calmly glanced at the girl, she was dainty, her hair blonde, loose wavy hair, heart-shaped face with almond shaped eyes paired with green orbs. Her clothes were dark, she wore a dark grey long-sleeved shirt, a black jacket with dark grey jeans paired with black and white sneakers.
Robin hastily examined her then turned to ogle at her piece. “Thanks,” he smoothly muttered, attentive that her style was heavily influenced by Sailor Moon, “I like your drawing,” he mindfully returned, alert of the number of times she had erased on her paper, but he had an idea that it added to its artistry.
The two continued to speak to one another, aided each other with tips to better their style, Scarlett, taken aback that Robin would listen to what she would do to make her drawings better. Robin has known Scarlett ever since he first stepped into his class, though, the boy has been too busy with his studies and training with Joel to persistently communicate with anyone.
“Do you want to hang out during lunch?” Scarlett diffidently proposed, aware that the Rosalind boy was the unavailable and industrious type but if he did reject her idea, she’d thank herself for putting herself out there.
Robin had thought about it, for a long time he has been so diligent and engrossed with upgrading himself, he speculated that it would be best for him to socialise more. “Sure.”
Tumblr media
To Isabella, it seemed like the world was finally paying her back, she had returned to the diner, Three Sisters, where she had finally been promoted to chef duty, as optimistic as she were, during the period of celebration from her and the staff, she observed there was no Seth, she had an idea he perhaps returned to his own diner.
Maria, Tommy and Joel were also there to congratulate her on her betterment, in fact, Joel was actually first to be there, as if he knew of her advancement in the organisation. On the other hand, the trio conveyed about how they’ve been building more homes and that there was going to be more people moving into the society, howbeit, before the homes were favourably built, there were going to be people who moved into their motels ere they properly moved into their new habitats.
Shortly, Adam and Kaylee entered the diner and presently sauntered towards Isabella who was about to enter back into the cuisine yet their arrival stopped her route.
“You two are never seen without each other,” Isabella jokingly teased.
“It’s a twin thing,” Adam facetiously winked.
“Joel finally had the balls to ask Isabella out on a date,” Tommy briskly interjected, comically he mildly slapped his hand against his brother’s back who jokingly pushed him away, with Isabella who awkwardly grinned in the background whilst Adam suddenly came to realisation of Isabella’s busy week, he remained silent but disappointed, he would’ve rather have Isabella tell him the entire authentic reason why she was busy. If Adam was being candid, the fact that it was Joel Miller out of all people caused him to be more let down.
“Finally? I’ve been wondering if he liked me or not,” Isabella softly joked.
“Nah, he’s been infatuated with you the moment you set foot in here,” Tommy truthfully told in a foolish manner only to earn a humoured glare from his elder brother who timidly hunched his body forward to avoid Isabella’s fixed stare.
Entertained, Isabella finished cleaning the table a prospect previously reserved. “That’s enough Tommy,” Joel dryly urged, nonetheless the group undertook another topic to convey about, along with Isabella returning to the kitchen to continue her chef duties. The rest of the adults issued with one another specifically with Kaylee who involved herself with the Miller family.
Yet, Adam halted mute, his fixed stare dark, in the act of attempting to understand what of Joel that won Isabella. His gaze discreet but shadowed with envy, indebted that ere anyone could’ve noticed his stare, Robin entered the diner with a blonde-haired companion next to him. Robin and Scarlett dismounted in the diner mostly because his mother worked there and he was able to get food for free.
Adam’s twin, Kaylee curved to the two young teenagers, her eyes inquisitive and meddlesome. “Girlfriend?” She asked investigative about the duo.
Robin pulled a face, wondered why the random woman was impertinent in his business. “We’re friends,” Robin bluntly responded before he sat himself on one of the seats connected to the main table with Scarlett trailing after him, silent, timid to join in the conversation, his enterprise evident for Kaylee to leave him alone.
“Your mother got promoted to chef duty,” Joel blithely informed the Rosalind boy.
“Deserved,” Robin jovially responded, upbeat and blest that his mother after a period of time received the position she strived for in the beginning.
Tumblr media
“Congratulations on your promotion.”
Isabella altered her vision to give her attention to the heritor of the voice, the heritor distinctly being Adam.
“Thank you,” Isabella genially beckoned her head, she speculated if Adam came to address what has just happened in the diner which commenced the woman to really wish she had a cigarette.
“It seems like Robin has found himself a new companion,” Adam gossiped and Isabella happened to sigh in relief in her mind.
With how she protectively capped herself with her jacket in the cold winter season, she noted how the small specks of snow calmly withered against the floor, slightly joyful that one of her favourite seasons began to show. “Yeah, they’re just friends though,” Isabella muttered her eyes avoidant to his physique as she desired for someone new to interrupt their conversation.
“You’re going on a date with Joel?”
Isabella cursed in her mind, accepted that the discourse was inevitable. Eventually, Isabella set her gaze on Adam who stood opposite her, his hands sunk in the pockets of his jackets, his stance angled and face clear with emotions. “Yeah,” Isabella simply replied with resignation.
“When did he ask you out?”
“The day you asked me out,” Isabella responded with disinterest.
“Did he get you flowers like I did?”
Isabella competently scoffed. “Don’t be silly, Adam.”
“No, because tell me what did he do for you to so easily say yes to him?”
“It’s none of your business Adam,” she rolled her eyes, over his childish conduct.
“Did he promise you something? Did he fuck you?”
“Adam, stop!” She yelled finally provoked by his scandalous stance, at last, Adam kept quiet, his lips pursed and his figure belatedly straight. “I don’t want you to speak to me anymore,” she directly commanded, her tone brusque and concise, her eyes harsh and the expression on her face disgusted.
Her facial appearance clear enough that Adam didn’t utter another word. Isabella, also quiet turned to the direction of the diner and returned to her workplace.

“So, people already have their patrol partners?” Ivy questioned herself dumbfounded by the fact that Ellie already had a companion which being Dina, she faintly clicked her tongue, Maria must’ve been confused with another class perhaps, the dark-haired girl glanced at the list, observant that the only person available, was deviation-ally Rowan, when Ivy read his name on the list, her brows furrowed, silently asked oneself to why Rowan has been single if he’s been here longer than her, she speculated if Rowan just wanted to be on his own.
“Well, it’s not like I can pick anyone else,” she then muttered under her breath afore she turned to her class teacher and informed her that she wanted to pick Rowan as a partner. After the abrupt task was done, Ivy exited her class and advanced to join Ellie in the field of their school.
The jiffy Ivy made her way to Ellie, she welcomed the auburn-haired girl with a brisk hug.
“So how did it go?”
“Well, I found out majority of the class was already partnered up aside from Rowan.”
Receptive, Ellie nodded her head, unfazed by the partner up and trustful of Ivy’s behaviour, Ellie leaned against the wooden table she once stood aside just as Dina and Jesse joined the duo, Dina aloof and Jesse engaged. An awkward exchange of “heys” passed around during the time that each of them gathered amongst each other. Dina forthwith engrossed and involved with Ivy and Ellie’s romantic situation. “You two happened quick.”
“Well, I hope it’s not a problem,” Ivy bluntly responded conclusively finding it the right moment to speak about Dina avoiding the two of them. “Since, you have been avoiding the both of us and all.”
Troubled and disconcerted, Ellie pulled herself closer to Ivy to urge her to barricade whatever she wanted to do. “Ivy, you don’t need to—”
“No,” Ivy sternly interrupted. “I feel like it’s better if we just spoke about it instead of just avoiding each other,” she threw in, incontestably irked.
Sympathetic and responsive, Dina gestured with her head, acceptive to what Ivy had just said. “You’re right,” Dina compatibly agreed with the Rosalind girl who was in alleviation when Dina had fixed on what she said. “Plus, there’s no need for me to be distant, I’m with Jesse.”
Jesse and Ellie shared brisk glances, the situation between the four somewhat settled but still awkward, Ivy reassured and consoled that they were able to communicate with one another without a fiery argument. Ivy believed that Ellie probably over thought of a charged and convulsive situation and underestimated the sophistication Dina had in her property.
Tumblr media
Dispatched with her shift, Isabella had begun to return back to her home, her small route quiet and amicable, the juncture she made it to the deck of her porch stairs but before she could hike towards her front door, the woman’s name was called.
Isabella recognised the owner of the voice; it was no other than Seth who held the equipment Isabella had given him earlier on. Silent, Isabella examined his profile and saw that he was visibly upset, though, this time his feelings were different. He looked guilty, despondent and ashamed.
“Can we speak in my home?” Isabella sorrowfully suggested, penitent, Seth gestured with his head ere he trailed the woman into her large cabin. The deed was quiet and quick, when the two arrived into her home, Isabella closed the door, open to anything he wanted to say.
“Look,” Seth lowly muttered whilst he expeditiously took a look at the files he held, “I’m sorry,” he fleetly apologised, contrite to his previous behaviour, opposite him, Isabella folded her arms, reticent and soundless. “You really don’t know someone until they’re dead,” he wistfully mentioned then cheerlessly gestured the box of files towards Isabella who dejectedly took the box of papers and images away from him, “and I’m sorry for what he has done to you, I’m sorry for what you had to go through when you were with him.”
“You were only fifteen.”
“I was,” Isabella faintly agreed, airily happy that Seth understood her stance in the circumstance. Eased in her mind, the two carried on having an amicable and sincere conversation before he left her home, placated, Isabella went to hide the crate of documents anteriorly she went to bed and satiate herself in a sleep where she didn’t have to anxiously overthink about the next day.

CHAPTER FIVE - ROSALIND CHARM
WORD COUNT - 2,299.
RATING - R 18+ [SEXUAL INNUENDOS, SEXUAL THOUGHTS AND GROOMING].
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It wasn’t Ivy’s first day at school, yet her first week, she could say that her first day at school was awkward, being presented at the front of the class and having to introduce herself to other people her own age. It was staggering to a certain extent, to see so much individuals her own age but Ivy pushed the paralysing feeling away from her and used her “Rosalind charm” towards everyone and made herself comfortable to her new surroundings.
Robin and Venus were in separate classes not too far from Ivy’s. Robin in a class of people his age and Venus in a class of people her age, it did take easy for Robin and Ivy to acclimate and shape into new settings, but Venus, was uptight and quite anti-social, precisely because of her condition, as she was also forbidden to speak about it to anyone, even to herself, it did make her more kept to herself.
Ivy understood Isabella’s frustration to an extent, though Ivy wished for her mother to allow Venus to feel comfortable to express her feelings, no matter how afflictive and excruciating it got for Isabella. Venus had the right to speak about her emotions.
“It’s rude you haven’t spoken to me yet.”
Ivy turned to the owner of the comment and was met with pure dark eyes, that hid a short glint behind them, Ivy quickly examined the person and took in their appearance, black messy hair, tall and pale-skinned, Ivy couldn’t help but remark that the person was attractive, but something issued to Ivy that this was a very impish and frolicsome person but that impish and playful energy he gave off made the Rosalind girl intrigued.
“Rowan Sparke,” he introduced himself, pushing his hand towards Ivy to shake.
Out of amenities, Ivy shook the so-called Rowan Sparke’s hand and acquainted her name, “Ivy Rosalind.”
“I know,” he comically hummed, “everyone knows who you are,” he winked as he made his way towards his seat, Ivy shyly smiled, slightly surprised that anyone openly showed tender interest towards her, though the new girl didn’t want to jump into conclusions about any romantic feelings Rowan could have for her in the future, she wished she wasn’t so idealistic.
“Well, pleased to meet you Ro---”
“And that is not happening,” Isabella suddenly felt an avaricious grip wrap around her arm that then dragged her away from Rowan. It didn’t take Ivy long to notice that it was Dina who pulled her away from the man with Ellie and Jesse behind her who silently agreed with Dina who took Ivy away.
“Rowan is a big no, no,” Ellie mentioned to Ivy who then sat on her chair she has been sitting on ever since she entered Jackson Community School, she surrounded herself with Ellie, Dina and Jesse; they sat on single seats that had a desk connected to it, there were four rows of seats in class and there were five columns of desks and chairs; the group of four claiming the third row as Rowan sat at the back.
“And why is that?”
“He’s just a dick,” Ellie responded during the moment she sat herself down onto her unassigned, well assigned to her, seat. Ellie and Ivy sat in the middle of the of the row whilst Jesse sat at the end and Dina sat at the beginning of the row.
Well compared to Ellie and Dina, Jesse didn’t dislike Rowan as much as the girls, he did find Rowan funny but the characteristic that displeased Dina and Ellie is that he just had a very slick mouth. Ivy remained silent just as class began to start, and the conversation between Ivy and Isabella returned to her mind and she thought about the three teenagers that sat with her, and did wonder how future events would proceed.
Of course, Ivy liked having them as friends and if Ivy was being true to herself, she did want her bond between Ellie and her to grow stronger, romantically, but with Dina and Jesse also having a tender emotion towards Ellie, all Ivy could think that the outcome of this situation was prone to go dreadful.
Tumblr media
It was time for Isabella’s thirty-minute break from the diner she worked at, thankfully, it wasn’t as overwhelming like the time Seth and Isabella spoke for the first time. Yet, the woman wished she had at least a cigarette to smoke but she doubted they sold it, nevertheless, the widowed woman waited for travellers to entire their community so she could have the opportunity to hunt for a packet.
Only Ivy and Robin knew that Isabella smoked, the year Venus was born was the year Isabella stopped her smoking habit, only because she couldn’t find anymore. So, it’s not like she verily wanted to do it.
“I’m Kaylee."
Isabella jumped out of surprise and her response caused the two individuals who stood in front of her to chuckle. Isabella quietly cursed; citizens of Jackson surely liked to snap Isabella back into reality. Isabella looked at this so-called Kaylee and checked that she was a white woman, fully curly brown hair, a youthful face and doe eyes. She wore a light blue flannel, dark grey trousers and low brown boots.
There was a tall man who stood beside her, he looked look like Kaylee, very sweet looking, short curly hair that draped across his forehead, down turned eyes and a brown gaze, similar to Kaylee’s. His nose was slightly hooked and his jaw quite strong with a beauty mole at the bottom right of his jaw. He wore black shirt and black trousers and black boots; it seemed like they must’ve come back from patrol with the attire they were wearing.
“Adam,” the man introduced himself, his voice was deep and coarse, he took his hand out to reach for Isabella who quickly shook his hand, his grip around Isabella’s was quite strong and Isabella was surprised at the intensity he used on her.
“And I’m Isabel-“
“Isabella Rosalind,” Kaylee finished pleasantly jumpy and wired about the woman who stood opposite her.
Isabella slowly rose her head the thought of this conversation was strange to her, she quietly questioned what the two wanted from her, as the three of them stood there in awkward silence.
“Seth, right?” Kaylee softly joked, “he can be such a toad.”
Isabella faintly laughed at the horrible comparison. “Yeah, he’s one hell of a man.”
“Yeah, we saw the interaction the two of you had that day in the diner,” Adam pointed out, “he’s probably upset he’s losing his customers because of you.”
Isabella raised the both of her eyebrows amused. “I guess almost the entire town knows of his distaste towards me,” she blandly chuckled.
“He made it more obvious during the welcoming party, the bonfire night,” Adam once again figured.
Isabella shrugged her shoulders, not really in the state of mind and spirit to speak about the elder man. Kaylee must’ve realised Isabella’s discomfort and out of desperation for her brother’s sake, she brought up a new topic, “your children, you have very beautiful children.”
It seemed to have work due to the fact that Isabella’s distasteful frown was soon replaced by a genuine smile. “Thank you.”
“It must be difficult being a single mother and having to raise three kids,” Kaylee intentionally coughed as she gently swung her body towards Adam.
“I try my best,” Isabella plainly responded, inasmuch Isabella being the keen woman she was, it didn’t take her long to notice that the two of them had something up their sleeves. Isabella didn’t question what it was yet but wanted to be cautious about how she figured the two out.
“After noon Isabella,” Joel walked by and acknowledged his head towards the woman who was appreciative and content about him speaking to her.
Though, she wished that her expectations weren’t so low, withal, there was something about the Miller man that made Isabella want to go on her knees and take him---Isabella quickly snapped out of her thoughts and returned the acknowledgement, “after noon Joel.”
Isabella hoped that Kaylee and Adam didn’t see Isabella drooling for the man, “come to my house warming this Wednesday,” which was two days after this current daytime, she attempted to cover up her erotic thoughts by inviting the two people that Isabella thought were siblings to the house warming she was quietly setting up.
Their eyes seemed to brighten as they accepted her proposal. Isabella then thanked the two for accepting her appeal and conveyed to them that she had to return back to her job, she gestured with her hand a goodbye then turned away from them and hurried back to her work.
Tumblr media
“I like your tattoo,” Ivy soundlessly complimented, the tattoo on Ellie’s arm wasn’t completed, it was more like the base before the actual tattoo was permanently inked.
Ellie peered at Ivy with a shy smile, “well, thank you,” she kindly thanked, her apprehensive smile turning into a toothy grin whilst Ivy cautiously peeked at it, her laid-back observation causing her to note of the mark that was on her wrist. “Chemical burn,” Ellie quickly answered, Ellie recorded the sneaky examination Ivy gave to her wrist and swiftly, Ellie informed the lie Joel and her came up with.
“Oh,” Ivy lightly glanced, something in her mind wanted to touch the ‘chemical burn’ on Ellie’s skin, but she wanted to also keep boundaries and not make Ellie weird or uncomfortable. “I’d like to get a tattoo one day, who did yours?”
“My ex-girlfriend Cat,” Ellie replied, quite nostalgic about the girl. Ivy wondered if it would be awkward for her to go to Ellie’s ex-girlfriend for a design, though it wasn’t like Ellie and Ivy were together, so it shouldn’t be flaky if Ivy searched for Cat. Nevertheless, would Isabella even allow Ivy to get one?
Ivy has shown Isabella that she is responsible, and has helped her mother with Venus and Robin, it would be fair if Isabella allowed Ivy to get a tattoo.
“Where would you want a tattoo?”
Ivy gently bounced her shoulders, “probably on my back,” Ivy sluggishly answered.
Ellie knitted the both of her eyebrows upwards, impressed by Ivy’s bold choice. “Nice---”
“Ellie!”
Dina came forward with a smile that beamed that managed to uplift Ellie’s lethargic energy, Ivy bit her bottom lip, insecure and apprehensive about how easy Dina was able to brighten Ellie’s energy, though Ivy pushed the insecurity behind, Dina and Ellie knew each other longer; Dina quickly glanced at Ivy, “can I steal Ellie?” Dina brightly requested, yet, it wasn’t as if Ivy couldn’t say no, because Ellie would always be ready to follow Dina’s trails.
“Of course,” Ivy falsely smiled, and without indecision, Ellie and Dina walked away from the new citizen, left her alone to wait for her two siblings.
“Trust me this whole thing will go down badly,” Rowan paraded himself towards the oldest Rosalind sibling who crossed her arms, not bugged to respond. “I called out that trio’s bullshit time ago and suddenly I’m the villain.”
Ivy looked up at Rowan’s figure, her arms crossed, silently prompted for Rowan to continue, if she were to continue being in that friendship group, she would want to know further about what she would get herself into. “Both Dina and Ellie don’t know what they want, so they all play with each other’s feelings, well not necessarily play, Dina doesn’t know what she wants, or she does and wants both of them whenever she wants to. One moment she’s dating Jesse the next moment she’s kissing Ellie.”
Ivy cocked the both of her eyebrows, an envious gripe in her chest she couldn’t ignore, in spite of her jealousy, Robin’s and Venus’ figure slowly began to come into view, relieved, Ivy uncrossed her arms and gestured towards her siblings, “I’ve got to go now,” she murmured as she reached out for Venus’ hand to grasp; Rowan nodded his head, implicit and inferential to Ivy’s dismissive stance to what he has told her.
“Bye,” Ivy lightly commented, she didn’t pause to hear Rowan’s bid and already jaunted down to their route of their home area with her siblings; voices in her ear, questioning about the current man Ivy was just speaking to.

27TH OF DECEMBER 2011
Her coat’s hood covered her head as she waited for her partner, with both of their suitcases around her, Isabella was tense and disturbed about the terms of events that occurred currently. She thought any moment now a family member of hers would appear and drag her back home and it was the reverse and antithetical to what she wanted.
“Alexander,” Isabella breathed, eased when she saw her twenty-three-year old’s boyfriend’s shape come into her sight. He held the two tickets to Miami with an expression on his face that spoke of encouragement. He passed Isabella’s tickets towards her along with her passport.
Her permit was new, both Isabella and Alexander prepared and outlined their getaway a couple of months ago, it was the fifteen-year-old’s idea when she had enough of her insolent and abusive family’s behaviour and pleaded Alexander to take her somewhere else.
Though the older man did tell her, to do so she’d had to change her entire identity so that it would be harder for anyone to trail her, even though Isabella did come from a well-off family, Alexander mentioned he would pay for everything for the identity change.
To the girl that was once Rose Silva was now Lilith Black.
Conducive to this escape, Lilith anticipated and recognised Alexander Black as her saviour, ignorant and unsophisticated to his shred and calculative ways and naïve to what the future held for her.

It was going to take a good temporal length to get to Miami, and Isabella had to come to terms with the length of the upcoming period, the woman discerned that throughout her journey, she would achingly miss her children. Nevertheless, her trip to Miami was specifically for her children’s safety; heretofore Isabella left Jackson, she had a conversation with Maria and Tommy, she had explained to them that her trip was to get supplies that she needed, that evidently weren’t in Jackson, she felt bad lying to them, but her excuse wasn’t a complete lie.
They did offer her men and women to come with her, but Isabella had told the couple that she thought it would be best to go on her own. However, out of kindness the two had supplied Isabella of a horse she named Lana to help her get to her location quicker and Isabella was utterly grateful for what they have provided to her.
They provided the woman two pistols, a hunting rifle, a bunch of Molotov cocktails and melee weapons, Isabella had her own shiv but was very appreciative of the weapons they furnished for her. It had been around forty-five minutes ever since her departure and the matriarch guessed it would take less than four days to get to Miami unless her trip was disrupted besides from the obvious infected.
It didn’t surprise her that she would run into some infected immediately, Isabella had observed that they were Runners, meaning that they were weaker than other infected, Runners were pale, mottled and covered in wounds with handful of their hairs falling out of their head. They were known to have poor eyesight and maintained human-like vocals like their groans.
Isabella quietly hopped off Lana and tied her reins around a tree ere she used her stealth to attack one Runner with her shiv. She hastily grabbed the infected with her left arm and suffocated the being prior to stabbing the zombie numerous of times till it demised.
-As the body lifelessly dropped, Isabella sighed consoled and mollified that she was able to have a plethora of action. She turned to another Runner who was a couple of steps away from her, its back faced towards Isabella, in a hunched position, motionless; Isabella sneakily crept towards the Runner in attempt to smother and stifle it to death.
It began to moan loudly, its body moved passively, attempted to resist Isabella along with the fungus’ influence. Though, the Runners defence was in vain as it simply died in Isabella’s arm, after she acknowledged that the infected was now dead, Isabella pushed the deceased Runner away. Noticed a badge that was under dirt just beneath her.
She simply crouched down and picked it up, discerned that it appeared like one of the badges Ivy collected. Ivy collected Butterfly badges, Isabella remembered how Ivy used to go on about the butterfly being her spirit animal, the woman then examined the badge and checked that it was a Common Green Birdwing Badge before she pushed the object into her bag.
Unaware that she left one infected alone that soon picked up on Isabella’s arrival, the moment it’s groan became louder, Isabella quickly turned her body towards the direction of the infected, quickly pulled out her pistol and relieved at least two bullets into its head then watched it collapse against the field.
Apprised that the sound of bullets might’ve alerted other infected, Isabella quickly made way back to Lana, untied her from the tree she assigned the horse to then hurriedly climbed onto the steed’s back and urged the colt to continue their trip.
Tumblr media
Maria stood in front of the three Rosalind children as she were one of the three adults, besides Tommy and Joel who took the responsibility to look after Isabella’s children. Even though Maria had a whole community to look after, she did have other people who could take on stuff she did, plus, Maria also did this out of the fondness she had for Isabella.
“Just because your mother isn’t here doesn’t mean there’s no school for you guys,” Maria jokingly pointed out, her hands awkwardly on her hips as she gestured them to come closer to her. “Robin, after school you have training with Joel, and Venus is going to start her piano lessons with Kaylee.”
“Ivy,” Maria then skewed to the oldest Rosalind child, “I was told your skills have improved so you will be able to pick your patrol partner soon,” Ivy smiled at the new knowledge accustomed to her, “now get to class,” she light-heartedly directed the three children who then scurried out of the Rosalind building.
Ivy was pleased that she was soon able to do patrols out of Jackson, yet, it’ll most likely start when Isabella returned back to the society. The last thing the matriarch want is to hear that Maria didn’t promise her wishes and let one of her children out.
“Why do you think mum’s gone?” Venus inquired the two of her siblings, her innocent tone contrived her two older siblings to mentally seek for answers to ooze her curious mind. However, the two couldn’t find an appropriate answer.
“Ah, I don’t know, it’s just mum being secretive again, Ivy lightly mumbled, lightly greeted a few citizens who bid them a good-morning as they walked by.
“I wonder when mum will finally trust us with her secrets,” Robin casually said, he curved his head to briefly look at his older sister, “I know mum trusts you with her secrets.”
“Well, she didn’t tell me the reason for this one,” Ivy bluntly foretold which caused Robin to make a perplexed expression due to her curt manners. Forthwith, Jesse sauntered his way towards the three Rosalind siblings, merrily greeted the three of them ere he took Ivy away from her folk and walked with her to their school building, left Venus and Robin to kick off their own conversation.
“A little birdie told me you and Ellie made up,” Jesse facetiously brought up.
Ivy gently hurtled her shoulders, “the argument wasn’t big enough for there to be any making up, it was just you two behaving like two idiots over a guy who’s barely done anything.”
Jesse jeered, entertained by Ivy’s arrant and impudent attitude. “As funny as the guy is, he is a dick,” Jesse facilely mentioned as their presences towards the school neared, “I mean I don’t mind you being friends with him, but mixing him with our friendship is a big no.”
It was Ivy’s turn to jeer at Jesse, she looked up at him in disbelief, “friendship?” Ivy repeated in distrust.
“Aren’t we friends?” Jesse genuinely questioned whilst they entered the school building at the same time Robin and Venus trailed behind them and then made way towards their own classes.
Ivy hummed not aware of her own answer. “I don’t know, perhaps acquaintances,” she sassily joked during the moment she made way into their classroom, Jesse snickered at her answer then hiked towards his seat.
Dina and Ellie were already in the classroom, they seemed to be having their own conversation, Ellie afflicted and Dina peeved and fidgety.
“Hey,” Ivy hindered the miffed conversation the two women shared and Ivy could see Dina drop her shoulders, peeved and wired.
“Hi,” she greeted evidently tormented.
Ellie looked back at Ivy with an instigative smile, the four of them all sat down on their seats, Ivy glanced behind her and noted that Rowan was either late or was not coming in, soon after she turned back to the front, she could feel the uncomfortable glances almost all of them shared with one another.
It was clear to Ivy that it must’ve been about Ellie and her spending the night together, this was what Ivy was uneasy about, petty disputes because of romance. Dina was surely territorial to things or people she believed was hers, keep in mind, Dina is a good person, the young girl was just very possessive.
Ivy lightly breathed through her nose before she turned to face the front of the class during the time that their teacher prepared for their English class.
Tumblr media
As soon as school was finished for the day, the youngest Rosalind kin was dropped off to the Lorde household, it had been about an hour since the young girl’s arrival and the young teenager was already brought to the big piano and shaped to already press her fingers against the keys.
Venus was adept and efficient for a beginner, but Kaylee cited that there was still a lot of work Venus had to exercise.
In the atmosphere, Venus had acclaimed that the Lorde cabin had a darker tone compared to her home. There were more maroon, brown and black colours, moreover, if Venus was being genuine, she’d say that these colours did bring comfort to her drab aesthetic.
After a long period of playing with the keys to a melody Kaylee had strictly fashioned her to practice, the girl was finally allowed to take a break, Venus was grateful that Kaylee’s optimistic and bright attitude was dimmer and dourer when it came to lessons; at least Venus’ mother would be paying for the lessons for a good upshot.
“I’ve heard your mother has gone on a trip.”
Venus had forgotten that it wasn’t only Kaylee and her downstairs, the practice room was mutual by Adam who sat down and read a book that Venus observed had a very interesting cover, Venus had considered on asking what book he was reading after she responded to his question, “yes,” Venus simply answered, “what book are you reading?”
Adam made an “oh” noise ere he hid the cover of his book with an abashed expression on his face as if he has been caught red-handed. Venus peered her head to the side, luckily, she was able to catch the title of the book, her nose scrunched in confusion as she sounded out the letters. “F—Fifty? What is Fifty Shades of Grey?” Venus curiously investigated which caused the man to sit down silently, unprepared with what to say, but Kaylee returned back to the practice room in time with a bunch of freshly-baked cookies which easily caught the attention of the young girl.
Kaylee looked back at Adam with a balked and foiled expression as she watched her brother silently apologise.
“Does your mother like the flowers Adam gifted her?” Kaylee inquired the young girl whilst she placed the batch of cookies on the low table.
Venus swiftly prodded herself of the sweet pea flowers Robin informed Venus the Lorde man gifted their mother. “Oh right, yes, she did,” Venus nonchalantly reacted, “she likes flowers and is gardening in our backyard, she was very grateful for it.”
Adam looked delighted at the young girl’s answer who was agile and astute enough to know what was going on.
“Do you like my mum?” Venus bluntly asked the man, easily observed how the two Lorde twins became stiff, caught in the act of their code hastily revealed by the curt and keen little girl. With their awkward kickback, Venus’ answer was commonly answered; Venus found Adam aberrant there was something about him that was different and off but the girl couldn’t place her finger on what was the mystifying thing about him. With a smirk that provoked the man that sat down a handful of paces before her, Venus leaned forward with a new-fangled face on her expression. “I hope you know that you’re not the only one in line,” Venus rudely teased, “and I hope you know that you’re not even first or second in line.”
Kaylee coughed to put a halt at the young girl’s mannerless comment. “I’m sure that your mother taught you manners,” the female twin retorted during the moment Venus picked up a cookie and munched it away, the woman then gestured Venus to return back to the piano and resume committed to the instrument ere she looked back at Adam and shooed him out of the practice room.

Naked and stuffed, gathered against each other, Isabella and Joel had cultivated their romantic sessions in his bedroom, but as captivated and consumed they were of each other, they resumed their caressing sessions, their lips sore in relations to the passionate petting they drove each other with.
“You make me moan so weird,” Isabella giggled while Joel had slipped his strong right arm under her back, pleased of the sex crazed condition he had her in.
“That means I’m doing my job,” he effortlessly teased just as he brought her naked figure closer to his competent chest.
Isabella openly snickered at his confident spirit fore he pulled the woman into one last kiss. “Does Jackson do anything for Christmas?” Isabella inquired the moment they were precisely finished with their tender affair; Joel had pulled himself off the bed and supplied Isabella with her clothes.
“Maria and Tommy usually hold a dinner party for Christmas,” Joel surely replied during the time he put on his attire, Isabella watched his once nude and divested body be capped and masked with fabric.
“Well, that’s exciting,” Isabella admittedly replied, “I cannot wait to start looking for presents for my children.”
Optimistic about her cheerfulness, Joel alerted to gaze at the woman who finished dressing up in her clothing. “Well, one of these days we should leave Jackson and look for presents,” he hospitably suggested, merry and assured of Joel’s proposal, Isabella defined firm to his suggestion.

Greeted by Venus and Robin during the moment she enrolled into her lodge, she closed the door behind her, she pondered to her children of the whereabouts of Ivy and was informed that she was with Ellie and the matriarch had hoped and contemplated of inviting Ellie to dinner one day.
Wordlessly, Isabella had reminded herself that she was yet to inform Venus that she has been taken out of her piano lessons.
“Venus,” she called, the young girl twisted to look at her, inquisitive to what her mother had to say, “a couple of days ago, I had a conversation with Kaylee and now you’ve been taken out of your piano lessons—”
“What?! Why?!” Venus audibly exclaimed confused and dismayed by the objectless information that was passed onto her.
“I’m only doing it for your protection,” Isabella competently contested, “the Lorde family are weird and I don’t want them near you.”
Without a doubt, defeated, Venus hunched and inclined her shoulders in dismay. “Well, where am I going to practice now?” Venus had thought her mother to be right, she could not dispute about the odd qualities the Lorde twins shared.
“How about the school’s piano?” Robin helpfully suggested in attempt to bring her hopes up.
Nevertheless, Venus didn’t seem too happy about his attempt, hushed and reticent, Venus turned her the front of her physique away from the two kin and abruptly hurried to her room so she could sulk solely alone. Convicted and damned, Isabella placed her hand on her hip, remorseful for what she has done. Robin shortly examined his mother’s face and observed the apologetic facial appearance and stepped closer to her with an understanding stance, “I know you did it for her own good.”
“I know but playing the piano was what made Venus happy and I took it from her,” Isabella regretfully pouted, abruptly, Isabella had wished she didn’t become intimate with Adam on account of the dispute between Kaylee and her wouldn’t have happened and Isabella wouldn’t have had to take her youngest out of her passion.
Found at fault, Isabella chased after her daughter in hopes to make her feel better.

“There’s going to be people who will pass by that will also be open to exchange stuff today,” Ellie conveyed with conviction to Ivy who prepared herself for the day.
“I don’t have anything interesting or good enough to exchange right now,” Ivy candidly replied as they inclined themselves to leave Ivy’s lodge.
“Well, I can get something for you,” Ellie attentively suggested as she closed the cabin door behind her.
Ivy turned to look at Ellie with a jocular and witty heartfelt look. “You would do that for me?” She comedically gasped during the moment she pressed her hand against her chest, Ellie lightly scoffed at her playful spirit.
“There’s also new comers moving in, some of the people moving in are our age.”
“Well, I hope we can become friends with them,” Ivy kindly suggested as the distinct physique of Isabella and Joel came into view, Isabella in high spirits to see the two girls, Ivy neared to her mother with Ellie beside her, aloof in the presence of Joel who awkwardly gestured his head towards her as a sign of greeting.
“Ellie, I’m so glad to see you,” Isabella mirthfully greeted, “I want to invite you to dinner,”
Ellie opened her mouth dubious of the invitation, she briskly looked at Ivy who had a pleasant and fervent smile on her face, hopeful for Ellie to come, the auburn-haired girl then looked at Joel who had a small glower, “I’ll be busy today, so you won’t have to worry,” Joel said with a sullen attitude.
Significantly upset about the one-sided exchange Joel and Ellie shared, Isabella kept her churlish thought to herself as she didn’t know of the root of their dull dispute. Ivy and Ellie left the two adults to themselves. Isabella could identify that Joel was still blue and spilled due to his interaction, as Isabella was ignorant of his status and position, all she could do was put a hand on his shoulder and comfort him.
“So, you’re Isabella?”
The Rosalind woman fitted around to view the possessor of the voice, during her alter, Isabella had quite slightly identified the voice, but the profile was far back in her mind, yet, it was the distinct curly air that framed her face and the way she smiled that reminded Isabella of who she was.
“Mariposa?”
Mariposa was just as stunned as Isabella, both women shocked that they would come into contact once again in such a dismal era of time. Isabella was in truth glad to see Mariposa stand before her, she had much to thank Mariposa as without her, Isabella wouldn’t have realised her romantic bond with Alexander was wrong in numerous of ways.
“Are you still with that dickwad Alexander?”
Mariposa must’ve not gotten the news that Alexander had been deceased for a sustained moment, still dazed of Mariposa’s appearance, Isabella hesitated but compelled herself to have the confidence to speak. “No,” she shortly replied astounded how word of Alexander’s death didn’t go back to her after all these years, besides from her stupefied reaction, the woman had recognised the relieved expression Mariposa has expressed once she heard that Isabella wasn’t with Alexander anymore.
“How do you two know each other?”
Joel had noticed the two women were taken by surprise by each other’s arrival and had wondered about the base of their bond hence he had barely known anything about Isabella, he had thought this period was a good time to slowly get to know his lover more.
“Our first interaction was so crazy, I wanted to make moves on Isabella at a party because I hated her boyfriend during the time, just to find out that the girl was seventeen---”
Isabella apprehensively giggled in hopes to change the subject, not ready for Joel to be familiar with her root. “It’s been such a long time Mariposa.”
“Aside from a specific drastic change,” Mariposa presently said, implied about her first and last name change she hoped she would hear the background about, “you barely look different, barely aged, you need to tell me all your secrets.”
“She’s also managed to woo the entire town,” Joel lightly joked which caused Isabella to laugh, timid and flattered by his statement. The three adults uninterrupted, continued to joke around with each other as Mariposa had thrown around hints about their past Isabella shortly avoided, aside from the awkward moments, the three were able to enjoy each other’s presence till Mariposa had to leave and continue travelling by the town, left the pair to dwell and lodge in their former and precedent conversation.

It hadn’t been long since it started to rain in Jackson, Robin had found the light tapping sound relaxing as he etched his pencil on the private piece he had been working on. Nevertheless, shortly, he had been interrupted by a loud handful of knocks against his door, as he hid his piece, he urgently answered the door to find Scarlett, drenched by the rain, with no coat to cover her, her curly hair stuck against her skin and her wet clothes being damp and adhesive onto her body.
She had been crying, it was evident with how red her face looked, along with how swelled she seemed. “I’m sorry if I’m annoying you,” she quickly apologised.
Empathetic and compassionate to her state, Robin had attempted to reassure her only to trigger her into a state of panic, quick to move, Robin had pulled Scarlett into his lodge within a great hug, benevolent and charitable, he allowed Scarlett to cry into his hoody, carefree and inattentive about her tears that doused his upper outfit.
Howbeit, she had allowed the boy to close the door to his cabin, and he had endorsed the blonde girl to speak about her situation the moment the duo had sat down on his bed. Nervous and uneasy, Scarlett had played with the ends of her shirt, volatile and anxious of her current situation.
“My mother’s always been so violent, but today was just worse than usual,” Scarlett uneasily explained, told and interpreted the vicious and enraged episodes her mother would usually have. All the brutal and mad words she would throw at Scarlett and decimate and defile her confidence, Scarlett didn’t understand why she had brought such a negative trait out of her mother, the last time she remembered, Scarlett hadn’t done anything dreadful to her mother, but she always treated Scarlett as if she were her worst enemy.
No matter how much Scarlett would apologise for God knows what she has done to her mother, it would never work on her side.
“Would you like to stay for the night?”
Unsure to Robin’s compassionate suggestion, Scarlett had remained silent, but keen and eager to have Scarlett stay under a safe roof, Robin had pulled a warm and encouraging smile to make Scarlett confident to his approach. “My mum’s making dinner and I would like it if you came.”
Convinced and sanguine on his request, Scarlett had timidly smiled, opened to the dinner invitation. “Of course.”
Tumblr media
“If I were stupid, I would have not realised that Mariposa was flirting with you,” Joel and Isabella had moved to the closest bar the moment it had started to pour, the essence and basis of the bar was comfortable and it was barely packed hence people decided to move back into their homes the second they felt rain.
Isabella had smirked at Joel’s keen account which had prompt her teasing mode, “do you have a problem with it?”
Surprised by her question, Joel stood back at her, muddled, “why wouldn’t I?” He had asked, flustered.
“It would make sense if I were your lady, but I’m not, so anyone can come and take me as theirs.”
Evidently, against the idea, Joel knitted his eyebrows, nonplussed and gone. “Well, I wouldn’t allow that to happen because I will take you on a date to claim you as mine next Monday.”
Isabella laughed, entertained by his serious demeanour. “Well, if the date is good enough then maybe I’ll allow myself to be yours.”
“There’s been numerous of times where you had allowed yourself to be mine,” Joel sneakily joked.
“Oh?” Isabella innocently questioned, “like when?” She gingerly tilted her head.
In a faux thinking mode, Joel positioned himself. “Hm, let me think, on your bed, on my bed, on my couch---”
“Izzy!” An apparent and definite voice rang through both of their ears, the voice had interrupted their coarse and obscene conversation, there entered Tora, with that permanent simper he would have on his face that always used to annoy Isabella, his eyes traced over the woman ere it etched over the man who stood confused next to Isabella, “and you must be Joel.”

CHAPTER FOUR - SETH.
WORD COUNT - 2,063 WORDS.
RATING - G. [MENTIONS OF DEATH & VOMIT].
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Maria and Tommy were kind enough to prepare a welcoming party for the Rosalind family, preparing a house-warming party was in the back of Isabella’s mind so she noted to do that somewhere around this week or the one after this current time.
It was also bonfire night, the children were inside watching a movie, Shrek, whilst the adults were outside, around a firepit chatting and joking around with each other. Isabella was unsure if Venus was going to come and join the other kids, knowing how anti-social she could get, the matriarch wished that Venus would put herself out there, but the young brunette girl wasn’t like other kids, she was immune and was scared of her future.
“That accent of yours,” Tommy’s southern voice interrupted the woman’s train of thoughts, Tommy must’ve noticed the stuck trance Isabella trapped herself in, as not long ago, she stared down at the ground, her hand tightly wrapped around the glass bottle of beer, frustrated with her overthinking. “You’re from England, aren’t you?”
Isabella forced herself to smile at Tommy’s obvious guess before she answered, “yes, but I moved here in 2011.”
“Two years before the breakout,” Tommy hummed, fascinated by Isabella’s small backstory, and it seemed like Tommy wasn’t finished with his curiosity as he then continued to ask Isabella inquiries. “What caused you to move here?”
Isabella couldn’t blame Tommy, her appearance with her children was arbitrary. They were dirty and bloody and hadn’t said an inkling of their past or what has happened to them before they appeared to the gates of Jackson ever since they stepped into the soil of the community.
She could feel everyone’s eyes stare into her soul as they waited for her to respond, she didn’t notice that everyone’s blather and prattle died down and it got her quite nervous as she didn’t know what to say. As Seth was one of the members who was at the welcome party, Isabella even wondered why that man even bothered to come knowing how he felt about her.
“Wanted to turn over a new chapter,” Isabella briskly responded as she awkwardly placed her thumb over the mouth of her beer bottle. She also hadn’t noticed that Joel sat there, also absorbed and interested in what caused Isabella to move so far from her home country.
“I know someone who somewhat looks like you.”
Everyone altered their vision to Seth who sat on a single seat, he must’ve drunk at least two wheat beer bottles Isabella observed, whilst she tried to hide the growing uncertainty and unease that travelled in her body. “Accompanied a man I knew who’s now dead,” he factually slurred, he then took a sip of his brew then continued to speak, “was a really close friend of mine, how bitter and sombre I was when I learned about his death.”
Isabella’s pupils wandered away from Seth and onto Joel who anticipated and observed the silver-haired man who spoke like a temperamental mad-man, “he was found in a pool of vomit,” Seth dismally explained as Isabella’s eyes met with Seth once again, and that brisk brief look was enough for Seth to confirm that Isabella knew what he spoke about.
Maria glanced at Isabella then towards Seth, silently wondered how any of this got to do with the newcomer.
“I don’t know of this story,” Isabella effortlessly replied and Maria had a feeling that she would have to remove Seth from the situation.
“I was told we have at least seven doppelgängers,” Joel subtly joked, evident that he tried to make the situation lighter as he felt everyone become tense of the objectless story Seth told everyone.
Isabella was relieved that Joel strived to get the attention off of her, it caused her to see Joel less cold than she usually perceived him.
Tumblr media
“Isn’t that your girl coming over here?” Maria noted, with her head she pointed towards the direction of Venus who made her way towards the crowd; she was wearing her casual attire but with a jacket as it was quite windy during night.
Isabella looked back to look at her daughter who seemed quite uncomfortable by the masses of people who watched her, “yeah it is,” Isabella softly agreed and gently smiled at Venus to make her adequate in the situation. Isabella was happy that Venus found the enterprise and spirit to come, it was a big step for Venus. “Hello Venus,” Isabella reached for her daughter’s left hand before giving it a soft peck. “I’m happy you found the strength to come.”
Venus blandly but benevolently simpered at her mother and then quietly greeted Isabella who took responsibility to direct Venus to where the other children were.
When Isabella came back to the adults, everyone continued to converse with each other and drink, Maria did have to take Seth back to his home before he created a commotion between other citizens. Isabella wondered if his up-tight behaviour came with old age and wished she never became so rude and coarse like the old man.
Time went past and more people began to head back home with their children until it was Isabella on her own, in front of the fire pit, once again, stuck in her thoughts that overwhelmed her and formed her tense. Found by her eldest, Ivy who must’ve been too tired to remain at the place where the other kids were watching films, Ivy immediately figured that her mother wasn’t as calm as she usually was.
“Mum, let’s go home, Robin and Venus will come on their own.”
Isabella, snapped out of her thoughts once again turned to look at Ivy who had a clutched and concerned expression written all over her face. Isabella moderately nodded her head before she got to her feet and put out the fire then left the area with her child.
The walk home was quiet, and Ivy felt like she would rather stay at her mother’s home this night. Before she left the building where the kids were, she informed Robin and Venus that she was staying over. The girl knew how to read a room, well since they were outside, Ivy knew how to read the tension and she believed it was best to speak about what has happened when they entered the main Rosalind building.
The moment the two stepped into the home, they took off their shoes and hung their coats onto the hooks that were in the foyer. Ivy took a brisk look towards her mother and she seemed less tense than she was when Ivy met her near the fire pit.
Ivy took Isabella’s settled stance as an opening to start speaking, “so what happened?”
Isabella peeked at her oldest child and was quite relieved that Ivy was able to notice her unsettled persona. Isabella didn’t necessarily depend on Ivy for emotional comfort, but Ivy was a great listener and advisor, Isabella guessed it comes easily to children who have to live in this dystopia.
“There’s this man who knows me,” Isabella cheerlessly responded as she plopped herself against the leather sofa in her living room, quickly after, Ivy sat comfortably next to her, ready to listen to what Isabella had to say next, “he knows of me because of my past and what I have done and I fear that he’s going to mention it to Tommy or Maria and have us gone.”
“What part of your past does he know of?” Isabella wondered, examining; it couldn’t have been what they recently been through, word couldn’t have passed around that quick. Yet, with the way Isabella pressed her lips together and held back her tears, the younger woman promptly realised what part of her mother’s past the man must’ve known about. “Alexander,” Isabella gently whispered, her eyes shaded with sorrow and second-hand guilt for what her mother was put through during her younger days.
Ivy wasn’t even supposed to know about Isabella’s past, the information was meant for her ex-husband and Ivy’s biological father, Kai Rosalind, Ivy was caught eavesdropping and was urged to not tell anyone about Isabella’s history and Ivy pledged with her heart.
“Who’s the man?”
“He goes by Seth,” Isabella sighed, still a bit frustrated about the leverage of information the man could hold over her head. “He looks like a typical decaying old man,” Isabella lightly joked and Ivy sauntered at Isabella’s random humour and leaned into the sofa they both sat on.
“Y’know I fought so hard for this,” Isabella wistfully complained, “for us to have a safe environment and a better life, and it’s challenged by the secrets Seth knows,”
Isabella already felt defeated by this man, and Ivy could tell with the way her mother’s shoulders dropped out of despair and discomfiture.
“But everything you have done was to protect yourself, and in the future, you’ve done everything to protect us, your children,” Ivy pointed out, she moved herself closer to her mother as a sign of empathy, “and to protect Venus…”
Isabella sighed and wiped her growing tears with the back of her hands, “let’s move on from this conversation,” Isabella requested while she forced herself to smile as she thought of another subject to convey about, “now tell me what’s been going on with your life? How about that girl Ellie? Something tells me that you like her.”
Ivy couldn’t help but fluster at her mother’s observation, sometimes she wished Isabella wasn’t as alert and keen as she is now. Ivy hurtled her shoulders with an unsure look on her face, “I like her but I don’t know if anything between us would happen.”
“How comes?”
“She has this thing with Dina and Jesse, well Ellie doesn’t like Jesse romantically but he likes her along with Dina, who also likes Jesse, it’s this messy love triangle that I don’t want to be a part of,” as much as Ivy aimed to make herself feel that it didn’t bother her as much, it truly did, she was a teenager and wanted to experience so much stuff and the fact that it’s likely not going to happen because the person she likes doesn’t know to choose for herself.
Isabella morosely gave her daughter a supportive saunter, “but do you still want Ellie?”
Badly, Isabella thought, yet, all she did was shrug, still and all Isabella could see right through her eldest child. Isabella raised both of her eyebrows; she had an expression on her face that told Ivy that she knew what Ivy’s true answer was.
“Only time will tell, Ivy.”
Ivy gently scoffed at Isabella’s response, “do we even have time?”
“In this safe community, yes we do,” Isabella confidently replied, still she failed at keeping Ivy’s hopes up about Ellie. Isabella pulled herself close to Ivy and placed her hand on Ivy’s right knee gently, “trust your mother’s intuition, Ivy, I know there’ll be something.”
Ivy arched the both of her eyebrows, quietly dismissive about her mother’s insight, if something were to happen between the two of Ivy’s hunch was that it’ll most likely end on unstable grounds, and the thought of that made Ivy reluctant about pursuing the girl.
Isabella then looked at the clock that was nailed opposite them in the living room they stayed in, Ivy couldn’t help but notice that her mother was giving this home a homely feeling, something Ivy haven’t felt for years. She was pleased by her mother’s decorative side, in front of them was a low wooden table that Isabella decided to paint white to match the light greyish tone of the leather sofa they plopped themselves on, under the table was a tiny white rug and Isabella could tell that her mother strived for a modern look.
“It’s late, Robin and Venus must be coming soon,” the hour had grown more late and even though the society was claimed to be safe, the other kids knew that their mother still wouldn’t want them wandering around this behind, “it’s time to go to sleep,” Isabella pointed out while Ivy stood up to her feet.
“Night mum,” Ivy bid before she gave her mother a soft hug who then placed a gentle kiss on top of her kin’s head. Appreciative and contended by her mother’s actions, Ivy let go of her mother and made her route to her spare bedroom.

CHAPTER ONE - JACKSON, WYOMING
WORD COUNT - 2,369 WORDS.
RATING - G
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She stood in front of them, arms protectively in front of her children who stood frightened and dishevelled behind her, there were three kins, each of them gripped onto the limbs of their mother, affrighted of the guns that were pointed towards them.
The woman’s eyes were wide as globes, as she was ready for her near end, she wanted to speak and urge the people to give them a chance to take habit in the Jackson community, withal, the woman’s eyes softened as a woman who held a shot-gun become hesitant the moment she noticed the three off-springs who stood terrified and clutched onto their mother as if she were their life source.
“It’s okay,” the woman put down her shot-gun and reassured her men, “let them in.”
The family of four underwent a dawn of relief as the gates loudly creaked and scraped open, allowed the four of them to enter the growing community. The children still latched adjacent against their mother scoped the surroundings with their eyes, remarked the warmth the community breathed that gently parched the cold condition they were in.
Tumblr media
The mother, named Isabella Rosalind, a widowed fourty-two-year-old woman was set into a cabin large enough for her and her youngest daughter as her two kins lived in their own cabins that were opposite of hers. It’s been partly two days ever since Isabella’s arrival with her children; and the widowed woman was able to quickly settle in her new place, her skill of adaptability. Though, she was unsure about the rest of them, as the worrying matriarch she is, Isabella has attempted to check on her two oldest children, Ivy and Robin but they consoled and soothed her that everything was going to be fine.
Her youngest daughter, Venus, Isabella was certain that Venus struggled to settle, howbeit, Isabella couldn’t rush her youngest child as it has barely even been a week.
The day was new, and Isabella knew it wouldn’t do good if she imprisoned herself in her new home, the woman was able to comprehend that many of the citizens of Jackson were very close with one another and Isabella wanted them to warm up to her.
Venus waited for her mother, sat down on their large wooden deck, eyes settled against the complicated words of a book she found comfort in, Isabella didn’t understand it. Well, she understood the book but couldn’t find herself understanding why her daughter found comfort in such a sanguinary and murderous book, that was way before her time.
“Hi Mrs Rosalind!”
There were two young women who made their way towards the Rosalind matriarch, Isabella observed that they must have been around the same age as her daughter Ivy. She also observed that it has been a long time since she has been called Mrs Rosalind, people usually just called by her name, Isabella. Isabella remarked that it must’ve been the dark-haired teenager that called out to her, she was brown skinned, cute with dark eyes paired with thick eyebrows with light dusting of freckles on her face.
The other one had auburn hair, bright green eyes, fair skin with freckles, the mother noticed that there was a scar on her eyebrow and she seemed way less optimistic than the girl she came with.
Isabella smiled at the two young women who made their way towards her porch; Venus barely rose her head to look at the two older girls who greeted her mother, uninterested with the encounter, Venus, continued to read her book, blasé to join the situation.
“Hello,” Isabella greeted the youngsters and she was sure the dark-haired teenager forced the quiet girl to come along with her, “is there anything you guys need?”
“Yes, your children,” the dark-haired child lightly joked as she attempted to lighten the atmosphere and Isabella couldn’t help but force herself to smile at the girl’s poor joke, “Ellie and I want to show your children around the community,” the young lady hopefully expressed, “I guess the other two are in your home?” She cocked her head to the side to check if there were at least anyone in the cabin.
Yet, before Isabella could say anything else, Robin’s cabin door derived open and there came out Ivy with Robin behind her. Ellie and her friend faced the oldest Rosalind siblings with a sense of curiosity. The siblings had a flair of mysterious energy that matched the younger girl who barely acknowledged anyone in the situation, just like Venus, Ivy and Robin scarcely sanctioned Ellie and the dark-haired girl that stood next to her until they heard Isabella cough and interrupt the conversation the two siblings shared.
“Hi, I’m Dina,” the dark-haired girl introduced herself to Ivy, her right hand open for Ivy to shake. There was a hint of interest within Dina’s dark eyes that almost everyone acknowledged the growing tension between the two teenagers remarked.
Ivy gently beckoned her head before she shook Dina’s welcoming hand, “Ivy.”
Ivy was around five foot seven, and Dina couldn’t deny that she almost looked like a complete replica of Isabella. Ivy’s hair was dark and long as it was styled of a wolf-cut, intense brown eyes Dina couldn’t help but commend. She wore black clothes, a long-sleeved tight shirt that was gloved yet revealed her fingers, she was clothed in black trousers and black shoes, her grim and dingy appearance made Ivy appear way more engaging than she wanted to.
When Dina finally let go of Ivy’s hand she turned to gaze at Robin, a fifteen-year-old-boy, who barely looked like Isabella so Dina guessed that he must’ve looked like their father. His hair was messy but curly, some of the curls fell in front of his face but that disorderliness seemed to be a part of his character. He was handsome, and tall, at least had to be the tallest one in the conversation, his eyes were hazel, lashes long, lips full and skin tanned. He wore a grey hoody, with black trousers paired with grey sneakers, his set of clothes complimented his grungy appearance.
“Robin,” he kindly introduced himself, was the first between Dina and him to gesture the handshake which the dark-haired happily agreed to.
Dina looked back at the young girl who buried herself in her book, she didn’t feel insulted that Venus barely engaged with their conversation, she genuinely understood that it wasn’t going to be easy to settle in quickly. They lived in a cruel world and in a world where they have to live in survival mode. “And you must be?”
Isabella nudged Venus with her foot and silently encouraged her daughter to introduce herself, Venus glanced at Dina and felt everyone’s eyes fall on her. Venus looked towards Dina uncomfortable but for the sake of her mother, Venus played along and introduced herself to the young girl she ticked off as inquisitive. “Venus.”
“Like the planet?” A new voice emerged into the discussion but it was from a person that stood there since the beginning, Venus looked briefly towards the owner of the voice, Ellie, who seemed fascinated and engaged with the name choice.
Venus flashed a smile towards the auburn-haired girl before she echoed after her, “like the planet.”
Venus looked like Isabella along with her father she barely remembered. Her hair was long and curly, and if you looked at Venus properly, you’d notice she certainly looked like her brother Robin with Ivy’s imminent stare, her style was quite preppy, as she clothed herself in a white long sleeved buttoned shirt, over-layered with a black jumper. She wore dark grey school-shorts that stopped at the top of her knees, paired with knee-high black socks and white sneakers. Ellie couldn’t help but think that Venus reminded her of a private school kid with her attire.
“Dina, has kindly offered to show you guys around the community,” Isabella mentioned as she leaned against the ledge whilst she watched Ivy and Robin silently agree to Dina’s offer just as Venus submerged herself back into her book, silently denying Dina’s offer as the others loaded themselves to be shown around Jackson by Dina and Ellie.
“Venus, are you coming?” Robin attentively inquired his younger sibling who shook her head in response.
“Go inside,” Isabella compassionately ordered Venus who didn’t think twice before getting up to her feet, she scurried back into the cabin she shared with her mother as Isabella bid the young group a goodbye, she couldn’t help but notice a man watch Ellie from afar on his porch deck. His cabin was opposite Isabella’s but in a diagonal angle, his cabin was bigger compared to other houses she has seen in the Jackson community, Isabella thought he must have been someone important within the society.
Isabella recognised that he watched Ellie in a vigilant and guarding manner, and Isabella couldn’t deny the fact that he was attractive, she considered him a fine man, with a heavy and muscular strong build. His hair was short with a few grey streaks in them, a full and abundant beard that matched the shade of the hair on his head.
Isabella must’ve stared at him for too long, as a result of his eyes looked into hers, the expression in his orbs seemed disgruntled and out of embarrassment Isabella clumsily smiled as she gracelessly waved at him. “Hi,” she clumsily greeted and felt even more awkward when the man didn’t share the inelegant humour she had.
“I’m Isabella,” she stiffly introduced herself whilst she forced herself to smile through the painful moment as he gazed at her, bored, “Isabella Rosalind---it’s nice to meet you---”
“Joel Miller,” he bestowed himself, irritated and remote, he then turned away from her and sipped a substance from a mug he held.
Isabella was not an idiot; she could tell when someone did not want to have a conversation with her. Discouraged, Isabella gently clicked her tongue, she therefore pulled her hands away from the wooden rails her hands were wrapped around and accordingly made her way back into her home. Her amateurish and bulky conversation with Joel disheartened her from meeting up with other citizens of Jackson. Feasibly, she believed today was not the day she should strike conversations with other individuals, as she was still settling in this new community, she believed people would be understanding why it’ll take her quite a while to start putting herself within the society.
Maria, who was the lady who allowed the Rosalind family to take place in their organisation, with how beat up her and her children looked, Maria didn’t force questions down Isabella’s throat and encouraged her to take her time to speak about what must’ve happened prior to their arrival.
Maria also had a husband, who went by Tommy and Isabella couldn’t help but regard the similar features Tommy and Joel shared, Isabella wondered if the two might’ve been related, it would have made sense because of the large house Joel owned.
The cabin Isabella had two floors, plainly, the second floor held the bedrooms, there were at least four in the cabin which Isabella aided that if Ivy or Robin wanted to stay over the night, they were more than welcome to. The matriarch hauled herself up the staircase to spend time in her chamber but a small sniffle stopped Isabella in her path and she altered the route to Venus’ room.
The moment she entered Venus’ room the young girl cowered in anguish and dejection. Isabella scanned Venus and immediately realised that her shoes and high knee socks were off and there exposed on her lower left leg was the two-month-old profound bite mark that seemed to be the cause of Venus’ distress.
“Venus!” Isabella whispered in shock as she hurried towards her, urged her daughter to put back on her socks. “Venus, what if someone was here?” Isabella emotionally cried out whilst she helped her young kin pull the fabric up her legs but Venus didn’t respond but drowned in her silent misery.
Her child’s lack of vocal correspondence caused Isabella to stop what she was doing and pulled Venus into a loving embrace. What her daughter least needed was having her mother nag about covering up the bite mark in a time of expressing her emotional thoughts, “what if I do turn?” the young girl muttered scared for what was to come for her in the future.
With her chin against the crest of Venus’ head, her embrace around the young girl tightened, “it only takes two days for someone to turn into an infected,” Isabella factually stated, understanding of Venus’ fear, “you have been bitten for two months and nothing has happened to you, you’re not going to change into one of them.”
“But what if it’s different for me?”
Isabella shakingly sighed, she wished that this conversation didn’t occur as much as it did, yet, Venus was a thirteen-year-old kid, she would get scared easier, be way more fearful, she had so much of life and the world to explore and the thought of the bite turning her into one of those harmful beings has restricted Venus from being happy and living in the moment.
Isabella remembered the girl Venus once was, and how that incident easily fashioned Venus into becoming isolative and despondent.
“It won’t happen, okay?” Isabella robustly briefed her youngest child as if she attempted to force Venus to believe that the aged bite was not going to transform her. The girl’s silence lingered, her head against her mother’s chest, her eyes swelled from all the tears she liberated; Isabella’s fingers mildly raked through Venus’ curls in the act of lightly shushing her to sleep.
Shortly, Venus’ eyes grew tired and Isabella’s mission of sending her child to sleep was successful. In the midst of the placidity, Isabella did contemplate about a scenario of someone finding out about Venus’ bite mark, would they tell others? Would they attempt to kill her? Withal, Isabella silently promised to herself and Venus that if someone displayed themselves as threat, she would have to handle them, even if the outcome was to execute them.

Not too far from the gates that separated the citizens of Jacksons from the pitiless world they were mostly safe from, Isabella sat on top of a horse, a large black bag against her back with the arms wrapped around her shoulders that adhered majority of the weapons that were supplied to her from Tommy and Maria.
In front of the house were three of her children one begged to come with her and the others pleaded for the woman to be safe on her trip. “I will,” Isabella affably reassured her children, her eyes and smile kind as her children stared back at her hesitant and shaky to let their mother go alone.
“I should come help, and protect you,” Robin constructively appealed, his voice determined to partner with his mother. Throughout his entire life, sticking by his mother’s side was etched into his brain and he found it weird to just let his mother go back to the exterior felt outlandish to him.
“I appreciate your request, but I wished for Maria and Tommy that they should not let either you guys out,” Isabella openly mentioned, “unless Robin is training with Joel no one is allowed to get out,” moreover, Isabella was pretty sure Joel wouldn’t let Robin go further than they should. “Mainly Maria and Tommy will be checking on you guys, to see if you eat, sleep and study well.”
Ivy lamented, slightly annoyed that her mother still didn’t consider her mature enough to take care of herself and siblings. Isabella noted the annoyed sigh her eldest child let out and looked at Ivy, empathetically. “I know love, but it makes me feel better that there’s people in a community that can take care of you guys, you guys aren’t in a virulent survival mode and can count on other people that aren’t just yourselves.”
“I’ll be back in less than two weeks,” Isabella then mentioned ere she glanced at Venus. “If you don’t feel comfortable being on your own you can stay at one of your siblings’ cabins or they can come over to ours,” she officially mentioned. “When I come back, I hope I hear each of you were in your best behaviour,” she mildly threatened fore she left the grounds of Jackson, on top of the horse that was accustomed to her for her trip.

It was artless, the conversation held between Tommy and Venus; the blonde-haired man attempted to sojourn and check up on the youngest Rosalind child and during the midst of it was a one-sided conversation. Venus didn’t want to be boorish and coarse; she didn’t purposely ignore the younger Miller man; she just didn’t know what to say to him.
Nevertheless, Venus nodded her head from time to time to show that she listened to what he spoke about.
“There’s actually numerous of stuff to do in Jackson, go to art classes or even piano classes.”
The mention of piano caught Venus’ attention which caused Tommy to be content of finally having the most introverted kid he has stumbled upon attention
“D’you like playing the piano?” Tommy questioned.
Venus nodded her head in response, “I used to play the piano for almost two months in the previous community my family and I lived in, before everything turned bad,” she said her voice audibly getting lighter when the topic of the old society was mentioned.
As much as Tommy wanted to inquire the young Rosalind girl of what must’ve happened before they got her, Tommy had to remind himself of the boundaries he promised himself to keep out of respect. “Well, would you like to sign up to piano lessons?” He flatly suggested at the same time he faintly shrugged his shoulders, just like many of the adults in Jackson, Tommy has noted that Venus was one that kept to herself, secretive and slightly brutish, he thought it would be a good idea to allow the young girl to open up herself by asking her to join clandestine skill clubs.
Within her light eyes, Tommy saw them twinkle in contentment and elation. “Yes,” she responded with a mirth spirit, pleased by the positive outcome, the Miller man gestured for the young girl to follow him.

The Williams girl stood outside the front door of the eldest Rosalind sibling, ever since Ivy had the small bicker with Jesse and Ellie in the defence of Rowan. Ellie did think about the trivial behaviour she exhibited, and thought it would be best to apologise to Ivy about the rueful behaviour she acted on that day.
After she gathered the confidence, Ellie knocked on the wooden door and Ivy’s response was quick, perchance Ivy could feel that someone was in front of her small cabin thus the swift response. Not too long after, there stood Ivy, brown gaze stared Ellie down, perplexed to what the Williams girl was doing here.
“Can I come in?” Ellie kindly suggested.
Ivy gently shrugged her shoulders, yet still allowed the auburn-haired woman to step into her cabin. Ivy closed the door behind Ellie and guided the freckled-face to sit down. After she did so, Ellie got comfortable and did a man-spread which caused Ivy to laugh in her mind about how macho the girl opposite her was.
“So, how’s everything?” Ellie quietly questioned the Rosalind girl who had her hand on her hips.
Ivy glanced at the desk she previously sat on ere she figured out that someone was behind her door. “I was doing some homework,” Ivy blandly responded avoided how Ellie awkwardly rubbed her palms together, Ivy could tell that the girl was here other than to ask her what she was doing and the dark-haired girl wished that Ellie could just speak up about it.
“I’m sorry.”
Ivy returned her fixed stare at Ellie, slightly taken aback. “Huh?”
“I said I’m fucking sorry, okay?”
Ivy laughed through her nose; she swore Ellie could swear like a sailor. She had a mouth as dirty as horse manure, “well, I forgive you,” Ivy benevolently replied, “only if you don’t pull that bull crap again.”
Ellie raised the both of her hands in defence, “I promise I won’t,” Ellie forwardly said, “now,” she playfully blew a raspberry, “to make up for it more, I’ll do your homework.”
Ivy brightly grinned at the girl who sat before her, “I forgive you even more,” she facetiously responded ere she picked up her paper and shoved it in Ellie’s face who jocularly snatched the paper away from Ivy who pulled another seat beside Ellie to sit down on.
With shared giggles along with bruised and feeble jokes, the two enjoyed each other’s company under the warm cabin; Ellie herself didn’t expect that she would grow fond feelings for the additional girl, maybe it was the mysterious energy Ivy carried, or her appealing appearance that captivated Ellie, on one hand, Ellie could tell that whatever courtship that’ll grow between Ivy and her would be pleasant and lively. There was also a gut-feeling in Ellie’s stomach that hooted and bawled that the affection between the two of them would have consequences.

Robin was partial of the training sessions he shared with Joel, well, he didn’t share it with him, it was veritably Joel that trained him. Robin was good with a gun, as Joel mentioned to Isabella a day beforehand, but there was invariably room for work.
“Today we can shoot some infected,” Joel coolly mentioned as the hiked down half-cleared forests with their horses, Joel on top of his mare, he called Old Beardy as Robin reigned a horse, he named Beau.
Infected weren’t exigently in the woods but were down the hills and surrounded old buildings that grew bacterium and corpuscles strong enough to take down and turn dozens of men rapidly. The two men rode their horses in the same column, side-by-side, the days have been getting colder as the year was coming to an end, Robin wondered if they celebrated Christmas or New Year’s Eve, he’d find the right time to ask the man that took the responsibility to train him.
“Thank you, by the way,” Robin ineptly thanked the Miller man who turned to look at the young boy and beckoned his head.
“No problem, bud,” Joel kindly replied, “didn’t anyone else train you before? Well aside from your mother?”
Robin nodded his head as kickback, “yeah, but they weren’t as good as you, plus, they only trained me because they had a crush on my mother, they always do,” he muttered quite troubled by his previous memories. Robin heard Joel release a humoured scoff at the knowledge material, Robin wasn’t far off, Joel didn’t partially train Robin because he fancied Isabella; Joel just felt this claim and amenability to guide the boy.
“Do you think your mother is going through something?” Joel offhandedly asked the curly-haired boy who shrugged his shoulders.
“She doesn’t really tell us whenever she’s going through something troubling, she’s most likely going to tell Ivy though, who always keeps it a secret” Robin sheepishly said, “mum doesn’t like her problems weighing down on us, she doesn’t like it when we try and take care of her the way she does for us.”
“Well, if you think your mother is going through something don’t hesitate to tell me,” Joel inadvertently directed Robin.
“She denies anyone’s help.”
Joel briefly glanced at the young boy, his grasp around the reins of his horse marginally tight. “Well, you don’t have to tell her if I do help.”
Robin perked his right eyebrow at him, apprehensive and sceptical of the older man’s antics. “Do you like my mum?”
Joel side-eyed him, blatantly and caught red-handed.
Robin groaned frustrated, “this happens all the time, fuck!” Robin childishly complained, “all you men do is get close with the only boy in the Rosalind family to make it seem like there’s some paternal bond when actually all you want to do is get in my mother’s pants—”
“That’s enough!” Joel audibly and powerfully yelled, “I do not want to get in your mother’s pants,” the man stoutly lied, “I just see her as a friend in need, and you as someone who needs to improve their gun skills,” he forenamed a bit humoured by Robin’s ridiculous kickback.
Robin huffed under his breath, clearly unmoved by Joel’s entertained shout, yet the information Venus leaked about his mother having an infatuation with the Miller man did bore into his mind, and the thought of Joel liking his mother didn’t bother his as much anymore. At least Isabella’s feelings would be mutual; the expedition between the two was now silent, but the silence was cordial and nifty, withal, Robin thought it would be best to cherish the nice silence before they began to shoot their bullets within infected.

27TH of SEPTEMBER 2012
The emotions between the two were tight and strained, Lilith backed up against a wall, rigid and under stress, apropos to the thesis Alexander held against her. “The test?” Alexander rudely inquired, his figure stalked over her and the young girl wished she could drown into the wall that stopped her from backing anymore further.
“It came back negative,” Lilith faintly answered, her voice croaky and hoarse from the agony and hassle he put her under.
Alexander clenched his jaw, burdened and bothered by her response. “And why is that?” He asked, evidently not happy by the lack of progress.
Lilith shook her head, fairly and genuinely clueless to why the pregnancy test came out adverse. “I don’t kn---”
“You know exactly why!” He seethed foolishly and callow. Lilith squeezed her eyes shut as she stammered a bunch of excuses to why nothing worked. “Open your fucking eyes,” he insolently demanded and Lilith didn’t hesitate to fling her eyelids open to his command. “It’s because you’re fucking useless,” Alexander harshly sneered, he pushed himself away from the sixteen-year-old-girl, not bothered to utter another word to the juvenile, who stayed in the same spot, unsure if she was allowed to move unless it would pummel a cord in Alexander’s body and cause him to behave in an unstable persona.
Lilith was smart enough to know that Alexander tried to push the speck that she was somewhat infertile, and the young girl didn’t know what or how to feel aside from the emotion of dread and vanity, she sat on the bed she shared with Alexander and cupped her stomach with her right hand to experience the imaginary child she visualised in her womb.
The table beside the divan she relaxed herself on, held a vase filled with handful petunia flowers, she looked briefly at the planets before she returned her gaze to her stomach at the same time a cramp stroke her back. She hissed in pain, the cramp felt augmented brutal to ones she endured previously, perhaps it was punishment and forfeit for not being able to gift her boyfriend with a child.
The young girl hastily pulled herself off the bed before she could leak onto the mattress and give Alexander an additional reason to be hostile towards her. Without looking back, Lilith exited the bedroom as she gaits to the bathroom to assist herself and to avoid her twenty-five-year-old’s boyfriend unpleasant amenities.
