WIP Whenever

I've been tagged by @inafieldofdaisies, @direwombat, @adelaidedrubman, and @socially-awkward-skeleton over the weeks lol

Just a little sprinkling of trauma for Athralan:

Athralan wanted to scream. He wanted to scream, and cry, and rage at everything around him. But all he could manage to do was stare. Stare at the unnaturalness of her face; her eyes, once a vibrant blue-green much like his own were now tinged with red, sunken in with the skin underneath a rotting black. Her face was pallid and scarred with red veins starting to glow through, joining the red haze surrounding her head as the tendrils of red lyrium emanated from her. As if she herself was becoming the stuff. She probably was. ‘You’re alive!’ Her voice was wrong too. It was gravelly and echoey, grating on the space around them and no longer sweet and melodic as it should have been. Everything about her was so wrong to him. ‘El…’ Athralan choked out, unbidden, but he couldn’t help it. The sight was making tears swim in his eyes, and he slowly wrapped one hand around a bar of the cell she had clearly been in for a long time.

WIP Whenever

I’ve been tagged by @natesofrellis, @socially-awkward-skeleton, and @direwombat so thank you lovelies! 💜

Here’s the beginning of the Conclave exploding from Elethara’s perspective:

It was louder than anything she had ever heard before.

Even when a group of shem decided to find their nightly entertainment in the alienage, it never reached this kind of dreadful cacophony. At least their mother could hide Athralan and her under the bed while they prayed for it to all be over, whatever this was, it seemed there would be no bed big enough to hide everyone under it. The initial wave from the explosion reached Elethara all the way in the outskirts outside Haven, she had been anxiously waiting for Athralan to return with news so they could return back to the clan. But with every hour that passed her anxiety grew. And it seemed it was not unwarranted now that she was looking up at the gaping, green, maw in the sky where the Temple of Sacred Ashes used to be.

‘No…’ Elethara muttered, as she used the tree she had been leaning against to hold herself up.

‘No, no, no, please!’
