if you ever want to play lisa the painful rpg, i highly recommend starting with the first game in the series, lisa the first. it's a very short yume nikki inspired exploring game. it's not nearly as big as yume nikki, so you don't have to worry about getting lost. i regret not playing that game first, because now i think the knowledge you get from it makes the story of the painful better in my opinion.

Tbh, I should probably play Yume Nikki some more, too. I think I only played it once for about 30 minutes. Just enough to be like, "Yep. This is definitely where Omocat got the inspiration for Black Space, but I have no idea what's going on", and then I never went back to it.

hnnn.... bbbbasil. I really love Sunny as well, but because I've been musing a lot about Basil through rp stuff, he's on my mind a lot. He's just a little guy, you see, and also has his mental illness and severe trauma that he has to work through. We don't see a lot of his thoughts in game, so that leaves a lot of room to fill in the blanks with endless headcanons for me to get attached to. He's a little guy with emotions too big to contain.

scrimblo bimblo (underrated/underappreciated fave)
Captain Spaceboy for sure. He's got such good themes and powerful kicks. He needs to get far away from Sweetheart. Also he's got his dissociative identities, which has me rapidly making the eyes emoji.
glup shitto (obscure fave, character that can appear in the background for 0.2 seconds and I won’t shut up about it for a week)
Keeper of the Castle. There seems to be so much symbolism going on with this thing, even if I don't understand every aspect of it. They're such an interesting and mysterious creature. What they expand on in the Hikikomori route is just really neat, especially 'cause it's not something you'd ever see in the main route.

Basil is the very obvious choice, so I'm gonna pick Omori. He doesn't hate Sunny. He's not a malicious entity. He's protective, he was made as a coping mechanism to keep Sunny safe. Sunny is self destructive, and so that's how Omori is. It's not some struggle for control over Sunny's body, Omori isn't an evil split personality. He's an avatar. He's a construct. He cares for Sunny, because that is his role. It's such a good dynamic that I haven't really seen talked about in this way.
horse plinko (character I would torment for fun, for whatever reason)
Hero. He's gone through so much as a teenager, and then gets destroyed again when he learns the truth. Very tasty angst there. It's fun to think about what would cause the face of mr. perfect to crack in front of everyone, not just Kel.

i found out that Basil's body slam skill can be changed to different skills depending on which flower hair clip charm you equip him with. thought this might be helpful into for the boss rush challenge.
Oh, interesting! I also found something out: Boss will let you skip straight to the friends fight. I was at a friend's house last night, and he asked me to show him Omori, so I thought I'd take the opportunity to find a better strategy for Mr. Jawsum, but then Boss was like, "Hey, what'd you think of Kel's surprise? Pretty cool, right? Do you want me to teleport you right to it?"
I said no, but I'm so relieved I don't actually have to do the whole boss rush again. I did find a better strategy for Mr. Jawsum, btw. Get both of the first two Gator Guys down to low health, make Basil and Omori ecstatic (not manic) with Basil's follow-up, have Basil CHEER to raise both's speed, and then spam VERTIGO while Basil just attacks normally. At that point, VERTIGO should kill the first two Gator Guys and one-shot their replacements, allowing Basil to attack Jawsum directly, provided he doesn't whiff. Definitely a lot faster, but I think I also got some bad RNG the first time (or maybe I got good RNG the second time).
And then I lost to the Slime Girls, so I didn't get to test any new strats against the friends. I'll be streaming in about 45 minutes, though, so I'll have to work on it then.

i am fascinated by you're complete adoration of the "as real" asriel comic
There's just so much to love about it. The terrible pun. Asriel's face as he waits for a response. Toriel showing up to say, "That's my boy!" Asgore threatening to turn him back into a flower. The art style is really clean.
When I first saw it a couple years ago, I tagged it "posts I can't stop thinking about", but then I realized that wasn't doing it justice. I was already queueing the "Lancer swearing" comic, so I figured I might as well do the same. They both really do make me smile every time I see them.
