bringing an actor back for the finale of a tv show they havent been on in years is so funny. imagine if they made you go back to the starbucks you worked at in high school to make one last latte because theyre blowing up the building tomorrow.

If you don’t want to answer, I am okay with that but why are posts saying that SPN fandom is having their own Johnlock conspiracy?

Hey! I don’t mind answering, but just a quick disclaimer, I wasn’t around for the Johnlock Conspiracy. I watched Sherlock and was aware how unhappy people in the fandom were with the last series, but I didn’t actually witness TJLC unfold in real time and only read about all its events in a masterpost a couple of years after the fact. So I can’t really say for certain how closely what’s going on in the spn fandom right now really correlates to TJLC. 

That being said, the reason people are saying the SPN fandom is in the midst of its own TJLC is because we are extremely suspect that the finale we received was not the finale as it was originally intended. Yet while TJLC was largely driven by pure fan spec, there is already like some actual proof that the CW/WB screwed us over and is in the midst of trying to gaslight unhappy fans into accepting the ending that we got. Below are a list of some of the finer points that have come out or been brought up in the days since the finale aired, some with links to excellent posts that explains each point individually:

1.) The CW/WB pushing the narrative that they couldn’t get Misha back to film because of Covid, despite the fact that we have literal proof that Misha was in Vancouver, quarantining, at the same time as Jensen and Jared.

2.) The weird way in which four separate montages and dean’s overly drawn out death scene are used to fill time in the finale coupled with the fact that there are scenes that are just *missing* (either edited out or just weren’t filmed) from 15x20: 

3.) Misha saying Cas was supposed to have a different ending (this was said separately from what he later said about the Jimmy Novak thing, which is a whole separate spec). It's obvious he can’t speak freely about any of it without having to risk professional repercussions and we can assume that’s true for everyone part of the cast and crew.

4.) Jared being the only main cast (or crew) member to say *anything* positive about the finale episode when everyone else is free from ass kissing while he has a new show set to air in January. He cannot currently make enemies with the network, so his silence would be too deafening, while the others’ is more subtle. I don’t have a direct link to this because I didn’t save/reblog any of it, but his post on twitter and stuff from his interview today is out there. 

5.) Jensen doing ADR work for 15x18 after they had already wrapped filming on the final two episodes. This particular part of the finalegate hasn’t been proven, but it is suspect as hell —edit: we know Jensen did ADR, that’s not what isn’t proven, what’s up for debate is whether or not he dubbed over an (affirmative) verbal response from dean to the love confession—

6.) The market research that went into Destiel. While this particular post doesn’t have strict relevance to what’s going on in the finale, it does indicate that people behind the scenes have been pushing for a long time to get destiel canonized and on the air. There was intent to end the queerbaiting and that intent made it very far up the foodchain, but it obviously still lost out in the end.

7.) The part of this that is most centered on fan instinct is one section of the fandom’s insistence that the bad finale should not be laid squarely at the feet of Dabb and the writers. This piece of the puzzle comes down to simple critical thinking skills, because one look at the carefully crafted four season arc of the show under Dabb’s tenure speaks to why 15x20 is not only ooc for Sam and Dean but also for the writers who helped them grow so much in four seasons. Dabb isn’t D&D, he didn’t just forget what changed in the show while he was in charge, a lot of which was about expanding Sam and Dean’s found family and allowing them to grow away from each other and their toxic codependency. That’s why it makes no sense for Dabb to then give us a brothers-only (and 20 seconds of Bobby!) finale. 

BONUS.) Samantha Ferris saying she and Chad Tyler Lindbergh were never invited back for the final episode of Supernatural. While this one doesn’t have direct bearing on the rest of what I’ve said, it is really weird that they weren’t going to be around for Dean’s heavenly surprise party when it was literally set to occur in Ellen’s roadhouse. I really don’t think Jenny the vampire would have showed up without covid, but why would Ellen and Jo and Ash not be around even in a better world where everything would have filmed on schedule and aired back in May? Its just *weird* that characters that are still beloved would have been shafted like this. 

I *think* I hit all the highlights of #spnfinalegate, I’m honestly no expert, but this has been what I’ve observed going on in the last few days

After watching the episode a few more times and reading the lastest gossip about the finale. I do have some opinions on the matter. Some of you may agree and some may not. These are my opinions and thoughts. 

Given all that has happened this year I am grateful that they filmed anything. They risked their health and the health of their familes, to get us the finale. I appreciate that. However, there is clearly somethings that were amiss. 

First, Dean. (a.)At first I was just completely hurt about his death. I was so mad that he was killed by rebar because of a lame ass vampire. I get the angle that they were going for with it. Now that Chuck isn’t writing their lives anymore, they don’t have plot armour anymore. Basic shit can hurt them now. Just like when the didn’t have any “luck”, regular people shit happened to them. So, if you fight in a barn around random ass rebar sticking out, you’re bound to get hurt. 

(b.)Social Media. I get on Twitter and Supernatural is trending. But, not because of high praise. No. It was because a lot of the fandom felt cheated by the finale. Which is how i felt at the time.Then that Jensen did not like the ending. That he thought that the ending was going to be different than what we got. Granted that they couldn’t go full out because of the virus. If I am correct, Jensen said that they would go out “Butch and the Sundance Kid” style. Plus they edited so much of the episode “Despair” that him and Misha felt that the charaters were cheated. Also Jo (Alona Tol) and Ellen (Samatha Ferris) Harvelle were not asked back. Which I thought was strange. 

(c.) What happened to all of Dean’s earthly possessions?

Seceond, Sam. (a.)Sam’s life. I am glad that Sam got to live a long life and have the family that he always wanted. I know that because of the pandemic we couldn’t shoot everyone together. That being said, Did Sam marry Eileen? We don’t see or hear from her. The only glimpse of his wife is on the porch and its so far away we can’t tell who it is. Also in Sam’s montage, we see a lot of pictures inside his house. But not one of his wife. It just seems rushed is all. 

(b.)Sam’s aging. I am not okay with the wig that they had Jared wear. It looked like a Party City wig. Again, rushed production. But, I do forgive them for a shirtless Sam/Jared. THANK YOU!

(c.)Sam’s heaven. This may go into the plotholes area. When Sam goes to heaven will he see Jess again? Jess was the love of his life and he said that he still thinks about her.

Third, Castiel. (a.) Misha Collins did a amazing job as Castiel. His performance in “Despair” really broke me. That being said, Cas deserved better than the show gave him. A few mentions in the last episode. But no one is really talking about the fact that Cas confessed his love for Dean and it was completely ignored. We just know that Jack got Cas out the Empty and they both made a new heaven for Dean. Does Cas and Dean ever see eah other?

(b.)Destiel/CasDean. DESTIEL BECAME CANON! This was a huge thing for the SPN fandom. People who have never watched the show were interested by this. This made 2020 a little more enjoyable. Now, I know that there are some that are against Destiel. That is your right and opinion. However, it is now plain to see that Cas has always had the feelings toward Dean. And they are not on a platonic level. There has been years of evidence to this. Sam and Cas’s relationship is not the same as his and Dean’s. Naomi programmed Cas to kil Dean but couldn’t once the time came. From angel to demon, Devil and God has all said at one point or another that Castiel was in love wth Dean.. Whenever Cas died on the show, Dean spirals out of control. He always tries to find something else to get his mind off the fact that Cas is gone. Does Dean feel the same for Cas? I’m not sure, but I lean more to that he does. I have always believed that Dean was Bisexual. He’s been seen checking out men on the show. I just wsh that they would at least acknowledged it. 

Fourth, Plotholes.(a) There are so many plotholes after the finale that I need answers to. I have too many to put on here. I will put those in a different post. 

For what the finale was, I liked it. It did fall a little flat, but if I just focus on the fact that they both got the ending they deserved.

I'm out the house this place is much nicer omfg ugh Me: Adrianna what if they were drugging me a raping me for idk how long cause a few times Christa made me take 3 Xanax to make me pass out when I had anxiety back in the beginning of being there idk when but after the pasta mushrooms I woke up with a grid of cat like scratches on me I healed in what seemed like a couple days then it was back sometimes I had my shirt off when I woke up idk how It was taken off you know? And both my boobs had bright red vampire bite marks for a while and it would peel off and itch alot there I think they were burns Adrianna: Karen you don't have to worries Any more. Those days are long gone    Written before I got picked up: I'm trying to stay in my room cause sometimes I see a red light in my closet I'm too paranoid to even check my closet what if they have a camera in there cause sometimes I never knew how my closet gets open at times I try to keep it closed when I remember I hope it is just hallucinations but I'm too scared to check I don't trust Christa remember when I said she died my hair an my hair kept falling out at the same time she gave me her halfway bottles of shampoo and conditioner and they used to smell great but two showers later they stopped smelling like anything so I switched soaps and my hair stopped falling out It was falling out for like a month maybe cause of the dye or shampoo idk I only died hair twice blonde only with bleach but my hair never fell out and I'm talking handfuls and handfuls but I always had really thick hair so I didn't go bald but as soon as I stopped the shampoo and conditioner it stopped falling out and When it stopped falling out the water finally stopped turning red like the dye when I rinsed it She used two different box brands of red hair die she was a pro hair cutter she said but now I'm thinking about chemical reactions like why mix them certain ways cause she added the second box on top the first one and I waited longer than an hour cause she went back to the store for another box I think heavenly mother took the camera btw lol well got the wifi password  and my laptop back they been cleaning the bugs for me

the strangest thing happened the day i got here in the trash bag i packed all my food in i packed all my stuff in the black trash bags and the trash in the white trash bags right but when the staff here showed me my food trash bag i think it was in a white one with a knife bigger than a ruler in it that ive never seen before and i freaked out like the staff said its ok its ok and took the knife out but wtf i guess that was the weapon they used on me crazy

i had 3 nightmares the first 3 nights here about being in that place and i wake up then im like omg thank god

the last night mare was yesterday i was at christas house again then rihanna was holding me when i was crying comforting me so much but my eyes wouldnt stay open and i was trying to keep looking at her face and then after trying to open my eyes a long time then i thought please dont let me still be there in that house and i woke up im like omg thank god

im very happy cause denise talks more than tara but denise exactly like how i thought heavenly mother's personality is based on my hearing her voice but its just all rihanna lol they give me low key hints alot btw i thought wtf what if im pregnat and what if they kept putting anti diareah pills in my food cause christa had a ton in a bottle one time i needed some so thats from her dr why need that many idk but im on my 4th laxitive packet still havent went any here the reason i stayed at christas was because she told me she almost killed herself after her argument with dee andre one day and she always said she needed a girl around cause the whole house was men other than us and she said they too much for her it was all acting hey btw the undercover cop i think that was in adriannas care~ car the day before i moved here my appointmnt day i had a date with a 'cop in training' that looks exactly like him year 2014 but he has a small bald spot now as the only difference i think its hm in disguise lol FBi lol i hope i get their money cause that was fucked up i thought what if im pregnant i hope not but im bleeding now so idk though it was so scary cause my phone stopped working the next day i got here it was barely working in that situaton and the net was off for like the last week i was there im very safe here ps we have the master bedroom its huge robyn is funny they just played nice till they fed me dominos shrooms pasta i ate so many mushrooms and then they all turned rude i know it was shrooms cause i took those twice when i was a teen thank god that parts over i still see some stuff but only at night was the whole shroom hallucinations visually cause eyes naturally dialate more in the dark i guess i kept seeing spiders during that time from the shrooms im arachniphobic plus some of my meds when i took them didnt have numbers on them that shits so fishy being forced to eat food they made me so sick im not even nauseous today i feel so much better and bonding with riri is so fun when i went on that date with that cop in training he gave me a couple turtle beers lol turtle on the can he was awesome but he wasnt my type so i had to not see him again cause i wanted it to be a friend date and he tried holding my hand anyways lol but he was very nice a gentleman and we ate 5 guys the restraunt burgers i feel like i cant trust anyone but the real rihanna body with mushrooms though to make extra sure lol cause the non illegal kinds my fave lol i was nauseous almost every single day i was at christas now its like finally i feel way better denise jokes around so much shes hillarious the undercover cop fbi guy he ids the one that got me a monster and a deltaco meal without me asking him to :) i didnt pack my broken headphones but somehow i have those and not the good ones but atleast one ear works and my wacom pen is missing which the top part of the pen was taken off at christas idk why but one of my boobs keeps leaving wet spots on my shirt that never happens usually the days and months at christas house was too fast cause they had me pass out alot too sometimes i woke up with dried blood in my nose i think right after i saw the white ghost take the camera out my closet for evidence dee andre ran for it cause i dont think he was in the house when i put all my stuff outside and adriana came so fast they used to have camera in the kitchen and out front but i looked to see wheres the hole in the wall for the cords cause was that just a prop? mmmmmm Jay z ft Rihanna and Kanye west - Run this town sometimes jenny and her mate = dee andre's 'dad' uh..... christa would buy 'pain pills' from her like twice a month? 40 pills each time usually cause i went with her it would be wrapped in a napkin they were paranoid about police everynight in my room red cop lights shined through my room multiple times a night no sirens i think maybe god kept me regenerating my wounds i never seen it happen but my nipple sizes are way smaller than usual now how i wanted it to be i think they put itching powder on my bed and clothes alot and breeding bed bugs to put in my bed cause we moved everything out my room vaccummed checked stuff then that night no bugs next night way more bugs than before we cleaned those people gross me out so much they probably pictured heavenly mother rihanna etc in me im mad gods giving them hell back i bet those who choose chaos god as their father aint our god kids i heard riri lied about my unbreakable curse by that god its not a googleplex years she wanted people to change and they didnt its the last year 666 he made me hes not her i summoned her when i first saw him shes eye of ra btw the cop guy looks like a kwin face that got morphed like not kwin enough but you know  

The Mummy (2017)

**DISCLAIMER: There are spoilers in this post**

The Mummy (2017) was originally not a film I was particularly interested to see. Since it was another ‘Mummy’ film, and I loved the 1999 version, I didn’t really want to taint the memory of those fantastic afternoons watching The Mummy (1999) with my sister whenever they put it up on television. Ironically, it was my sister who mentioned her interest to watch this year’s version out of “pure curiosity”, and subsequently we decided to go watch it on a sibling day out.

Once she expressed and suggested this, as a cinephile I was willing to watch any film and enjoy it as much as I could. And yes I did get quite excited looking forward to it, especially with a viewing in the BFI IMAX in London. Knowing it was going to be an action film, viewing it in 3D was going to be a real treat. 

First and foremost, the film does not once try to copy or imitate the plot of the other ‘The Mummy’ films made. Not even the original 1930′s version from Universal Monsters. The plot is very different. I guess you could find similarities but that is more thematic and the fault mainly lies on the Ancient Egyptian Horror genre.

The film is not a masterpiece. At most it was very enjoyable, but it is not a cinematographic experience. The best feature is probably the special effects (as usual with these films) but even then the ‘splitting eyes’ scene did look like the irises were copied and pasted at some points. 

Nevertheless, it was very enjoyable. Watching it in the largest screen in England in 3D was a pure delight in all honesty. I am an absolute sucker for Ancient Egyptian stories, I have always been obsessed with them, and it was definitely a film I would praise in the aspect that it filled my afternoon with a lot of entertainment.

One thing I must praise about the story is that the Mummy is a FEMALE. This definitely made the power she possesses very different from that of what a male Mummy holds. Male monsters rely on aggression. Whereas this female monster (Princess Ahmanet, performed by Sofia Boutella) relies on deep seated emotions such as envy and lust. At the beginning of the film we see why, when she was alive, she became so ghastly. (SPOILER AHEAD) The reason? She was the heir to the throne of Egypt, but when the Pharaoh has a male new born son she is no longer heir. This envy drives her to kill her father, mother and baby brother, as she sells her soul to the evil spirits. She is mummified before she completes her ritual to become fully evil. So, as is expected, she comes back to life in order to complete the ritual and take over the world. 

But why and when does Nick Morton (Tom Cruise) come in? He is a soldier in the area of Iraq, of what used to be old Mesopotamia, who steals artefacts and sells them to bidders. Yes, he begins as the anti-hero, and to be perfectly honest Cruise is the best actor for this as his overwhelming charm always transmits through the screen, easily manipulating any viewer. (SPOILER AHEAD) But the Mummy needs to sacrifice a man in order to complete her ritual...with a special dagger. And surprise, surprise, she chooses deceptive Nick. Why? Because he can be lead by the ‘evil spirits’ as he is a thief. This is where the lust I was talking about comes in. There are scenes which represent his trance state while being possessed by her which show him being seduced by Princess Ahmanet when she was still alive.  In comparison to his other love interest Jenny (Annabelle Wallis), he does not lay his hands on her once. They have a love-hate relationship. And one knows, deep down, he will fall for the Mummy’s grasp, because on her side its pure self-interest, but on his (as Cruise mentioned in an interview) he only sees her as an enigmatic sexy figure even if he doesn’t want to. 

(SPOILER AHEAD) Nick does let himself be sacrificed. However its not because he is tempted by the Mummy. Its because he wants to save Jenny’s life even if they had nothing going on in the whole film (soppy Hollywood love ending as usual). But he doesn’t die. No. He becomes a half-monster instead. Which is really exciting to watch since Cruise’s last monster role was in ‘Interview with the Vampire’ (1995). The ending really does open up to the rest of the Universal Monster films to be made. 

My favourite performance of the film however has to be Russell Crowe as Dr. Jekyll/Mr Hyde. His character is what links the Universal Monster films together, as he is on the quest to getting rid of all evil in the world. His line at the end of the film - “After all, it takes a monster to fight a monster” - suggests that he will use Nick in the future for his quest, since he has become half evil but half good too, just like the Doctor. 

As you can see, unlike with Beauty and the Beast, I can only really speak of the story line rather than the artistic elements of this film, because there is not much creativity in it. The soundtrack and sound editing was cool, but the editing in general was not (more cheesy than anything). The back drop of London is also quite a good choice, as there is nothing more devastating than watching Big Ben go down in such a tragic form, even if it has been over used. The plane crash was the most new thing I saw in the film, not because of the scene itself but because of how it was made in a Zero G aircraft. It’s still the fairly simple plot which can please anyone and which is enjoyable. Tom Cruise never fails to please in these action packed thrillers, as regardless what people say he does put his all into anything. I really can’t imagine how the film would have ended up without him as the lead role, no matter how much Crowe would have saved it. 

If you want to have a fun-filled evening with a friend (or sibling) to discuss how Cruise can pass for ten years younger, watch this film. If you want to watch a typical three act structure plot with cool effects and mysterious Egyptian themes, go ahead and watch this film. However if you want to watch a remarkable film with a unique plot and unique visual art, you won’t miss anything if you don’t watch this film.
