DX Desire Driver update
Okay, so...this thing runs on a 3 pin-rail system, akin to the Build/Evol/Sclash/Ziku drivers (And maybe the Seiken Swordriver, but I’m not that well versed with Saber)...and the belt is literally doing all of the heavy lifting.
Lights? Sounds? All driver.
The bigger Raise Buckles have little gimmicks (See: Magnum’s rotating wheel, Boost’s splitting exhaust pipes), but aside from that, it seems that the current Transformation Trinkets are all battery-free...which is a fucking breath of fresh air on the fact that I won’t have to invest in EVEN MORE FUCKING LR44 BATTERIES.

I find this actually very cool so here we go:
So, the Role Play DX Toys for Zenkaiger have 2 little notches to read the gears with. Meaning depending of which notch is pressed while rolling the gear inside is the code the toy is going to read, search for it in their memory and play the respective sound clip.
For example, the code for Zenkaiser is
11 10 10 10 10 10 10 10
And the code for Twokaiser is
11 10 10 10 01 10 10 10
Since each part of the code is 2 numbers (1 or 0), that means there's 4 possibilities: 00 01 10 11 (This is 2 * 2) and since there's 8 of them should be 65,536 possible codes (4^8, or 4 * 4 * 4 * 4 * 4 * 4 * 4 * 4), correct? Not exactly.
There's 2 problems with this implementation:
The first one is the fact it cannot read the digit 00. The digit 00 would mean none of the notches were activated, and the toy doesn't have a workaround for something like that, so that digit gets eliminated from the possible pool, meaning that now we have 3 possible digits (01 10 and 11) and with 8 of them we have 6,561 possible codes (3^8, or 3 * 3 * 3 * 3 * 3 * 3 * 3 * 3).
The other problem is the toy has no way to know when a code starts (You can put the gear in any starting position you want, so they cannot use starting position). Their solution was to use the digit 11 as the beginning of all the codes. All the codes for the Sentai Gears start with 11, meaning two important things:
1- The next part of the code cannot be 11 because for the toy that means "beginning of code" meaning we have only 2 possibilities for each part of the code (01 and 10)
2- Since all the codes need to start with 11, we don't actually have 8... digits to read, but 7
So the amount of available codes we have are actually 128 (2^7, or 2 * 2 * 2 * 2 * 2 * 2 * 2). And for some reason the Bandai's Engineers thought this was more than enough, because they decided to make the gears reversible meaning we have half of the possible codes as possible gears: 64.
64 is the max amount of Sentai Gears we can have with this implementation. How many are there?
46 Sentai Teams*, 5 Zenkaiger, 3 Pirates, 1 Stacy, 1 ZenKaiju Gear = 56.
Auch.
And there's the promotional Gears, All Red, Christmas, Kamen Rider, probably something I'm forgetting, the new Flint Gear.
60. 60 Gears. And I'm been sloppy with this.**
With so little codes available how the heck they did the Avataro Gears then?
AHHH, the DonBlaster does something the Gearlinger doesn't do***: It can also read codes starting with 11 11.
For instance the code for Don Momotaro is:
11 11 10 10 10 10 10 10
Meaning that all the exclusive Donbrothers gears have a meaningful code length of 6 digits, or 64 possibilities. (2^6, or 2 * 2 * 2 * 2 * 2 * 2). And thank god they decided this ones weren't reversible, so they are 64.
Permutations! They are fun I think
And also this is the reason I think the Sentai Gears did better than they were expecting because they weren't designed to roll to the next season at the beginning. Like, at all.
*Includes Akibaranger. Lupinranger and Patranger are considered different teams, and there before they have different codes
**62 if I include the Donbrothers Sentai Gear ver 2022 and the Zenkaiser Sentai Gear ver 2022 which aren't reversible, so maybe they are just 1 gear for this purpose. Well, the point is there not enough codes for the Donbros, that is all.
***If you put the Don Momotaro gear in the Gearlinger, its loads eternally, because it's expecting a code of 7 digits and it's getting one with 6

Revolve Change Figure Kamen Rider Geats revealed
With Kamen Rider Geats set to premiere in September 4th, many new toys are slowly being revealed for the series -- among them being the gimmick figure line; Revolve Change Figure, starting off with Geats in his Magnum Boost and Boost Magnum forms.
The main feature of this toyline is that each set comes with two torsos, both of which are capable of instead transforming into a set of legs -- meaning that Geats' Magnum powers can go on the top or the bottom, replicating the revolve gimmick of the DX Belt and the character on the show. To fully accommodate for this, the figure's signature Kitsune mask and muffler are separate accessories you plug on after transformation. He also of course comes with his Magnum Shooter 40X in both forms.
Revolve Change Figure Kamen Rider Geats releases at general retail for 3,250 Yen on September 10th.

@kdinjenzen since I imagine asks would eat links, making a quick post of the stuff you’d need for wolf lady kamen rider:
1) the belt: options
a) the base combo set for the belt that comes with the additional side part holders (the belt and the holders are also sold as separate sets, but the belt set separately is currently sold out): https://tokullectibles.com/collections/kamen-rider-geats/products/dx-desire-driver-zombie-holder-set
b) just the driver itself with no additional parts or belts: https://tokullectibles.com/collections/kamen-rider-geats/products/dx-desire-driver-rider-base
if you have any interest in getting the interchangeable parts for forms, since anyone can use any form, option a is better for you, since that one has parts, obviously, and will be released sooner/is already out, depending if you get the Japan or USA release, but option b is cheaper, though won’t be out until april.
2) the rest of the belt, upgrade kit: https://tokullectibles.com/collections/kamen-rider-geats/products/dx-desire-high-spec-belt-raise-buckle-holder-set
whichever option for step 1 you pick, this is also worth getting. this is a set to swap the kid sized belt parts that come with the toy in option a for ones sized for adults to wear, in the style of the Complete Selection Modification toys released for adult collectors. if you opt for option b, this is basically required, as b has no belt parts of its own.
3) Lopo’s ID core: https://tokullectibles.com/collections/kamen-rider-geats/products/kamen-rider-nudge-sparrow-lopo-id-cores
with, at time of writing, one exception, every Rider this season uses the same belt, they just swap an ID core in the center piece. 4 of the 5 main main characters up to this point come bundled with the belt or their specific form items, one was a purchase campaign bonus you’d need to track down online, most others are a special online release. the one YOU care about, Lopo’s, is being released in a set with the other new character, and is a bonus for a specific magazine in Japan. you may want to at least order this one before it sells out, or you’ll need to track it down on ebay later for a ridiculous markup.
4) form items and weapons: https://tokullectibles.com/collections/kamen-rider-geats
that’s the link to the entire category of stuff for this season. weapons are tied to forms, not any specific character, and as mentioned before anyone can use any form, so you can order whichever form items and weapons look cool to you, provided they’re in stock.
if you’d like a link to someplace to watch the episodes of the show, lemme know and I can send that in an ask.

taking off the mask: kamen rider’s affect on my life
tw//mentions of dysphoria, self harm, suicide, quarantine, depression. part 1: 2019 it's almost scary to think that i've been into kamen rier for four yearas now. all things considered it's been a decent run of it. no matter what it's been a constant through so many hard times and so many ups and downs. honestly, it's kinda grown with me in some regard. Starting with a Round Zero, I got into kamen rider right at the end of zi-oh and im now ending off high school at the beginning of GOTCHARD. so many things happened in this time i never thought would happened and i'm honestly really baffled by how much has changed. Kamen rider was originally something that i found because of DXtokusatsu's 10-20 minnute long kamen rider dx toy videos where he would speedrun though the different 4th riders. another video being the all final forms runthrough going up to build's genius form. from there i began to look into kamen rider as a series. I liked how ghost’s driver looked, I loved how it opened, i liked the sounds it made, I especially loved the eyecons. so cool, so simple. In fact, my first few kamen rider purchases were ghost related. I had yet to find out about the google doc or drives, so i was unable to watch kamen rider, instead sticking to AMV’s and dxtokusatsu videos as well as henshin compilations. It was a feeling of pure ecstacy I had never felt before as I devoured every piece of media i could find regarding kamen rider. I was honestly obsessed. Instead of watching kamen rider, i just rewatched mystic force for the millionth time. classic. I distinctly remember believing kamen rider was just a continuing show where there were tons of seasons you had to watch in order and every so often we’d get a new rider who would interract and help the other riders. a connected multiverse moreso than the kamen rider universe already is given the sheer number of crossovers. Finally, something caught my ear. Burning my soul, Kamen rider cross-z’s final (yea fuck you muscle galaxy) form. It instantly became one of my favorite songs and i listened to it on repeat CONSTANTLY. That being said, i wasn’t all that big of a fan of most other kamen rider music. It was mostly a slow burn on a lot of songs like double action sword form and the classics. I’m still not exceptionally fond of No Fear No pain if i’m being completely honest. Eventually, and i’m not really sure how, but I started watching ghost. Yes, i know, terrible start. I was unenthused, as one would assume, but i stuck to it for a decent few episodes, until an online friend of mine reccomended build. at this time I had been saving up money and had bought a handfull of eyecons. this was my introduction to a long and unhealthy addiction to candy toy candy. I had always been a little too anxious to order shit online, though kamen rider soon changed that as I became almost attached to ebay like a parasite. even now friends come to me to ask me to keep an eye out for ebey kamen rider deals. My first real transformation device... or set of devices were the transteam and nebula steam guns as well as the steam blade. I was planning to buy a ghost driver with the money to go with the items, though that never came to fruition, and even now, four years later, it remains one of the white whales of my collection along with but not limited to: W/lost driver, buggle driver, gamer driver, hyper muteki, hazard trigger/fullfull bottles, and 01 driver. despite having a hilarious ammount of stuff from ex-aid, w, and ghost, I have never owned anything to use them in. i’m honestly not sure which is worse not to have though, considering i’ve got every other 01 main rider driver other than the ark driver.  I remember distinctly watching kamen rider in school with my table mates, we’d sit in the back of the class, and though they never understood what was going on, they enjoyed the fight scenes. School at this time was stressful to say the least. Going on 3 years now of severe depression and beginning to question my gender identity, kamen rider became a safehaven among the various fights with parents, bad nights wrought with dysphoria, hidden wrists, and reddit rants sprinked in with my various kamen rider themed posts. Kamen rider remained something I could rely on when things got tough. From finishing build, i immediately (regrettably) moved right on to zi-o of all things. a decision that, even to this day i question. zi-o got me into looking at zi-o related items, specifically woz’s driver, which would soon become my first driver (mostly because at the time it was the cheapest driver on amazon). Waiting for packages in these times, and even now, was something that kept me going in the lowest points I went through. Even though My mind was filled with all these dark thoughts, even though I felt I had nobody, I still had kamen rider to keep me sane. I was going through my own personal transformation that felt even more important when looking at the transformations the characters were going through. in november i finally got to go to therapy, and it was frankly one of the best things i’ve ever done. Finally getting clean, finally getting better, and honestly just feeling really good. Getting better was definitely a process. one I don’t really remember, but one i was doing with the help of kamen riders. It may be strange, but I started developing an ideology about kamen riders that kept me sane during this time and even now i still follow it. “would a kamen rider do this?” something that frankly only applies to the heroes, but even so is a reminder to do good if I can help it, both to myself and for others. Kamen riders in my eyes are not the suits, but instead the people wearing them, it;s an ideology more than it is a type of armored warrior bug man. It’s a willingness to fight and die for what you bellieve in. A sentiment I carry with me everywhere,  as 2019 came to an end, I began to grow more comfortable and things regarding me mental health settled down a bit. Christmas was in the air and a new issue arose, a very strong embarassment towards kamen rider as a whole. I had a christmas list of various kamen rider things I was interested in, though I was embarassed to admit I liked this childish japanese kids show. I didn’t want my family to think i was a wierdo or a nerd, or any of the other things I actually am. I came to the realization I was wearing a mask and that I wasn’t the person I wanted to be and i had to Be the One to change that. So i sent out that christmas list of various kamen rider things. did i get them? nah. but that’s alright, I had christmas money I could use specifically for that within the safety of my ebay account free of the judgment I got from my family. This embarassment for who I am still lingers to this day, and especially as a self conscous 14 year old, this worry was soul crushing. I had nobody to talk to about kamen rider, and I couldn’t just talk to new people about it. Sure my friends would listen to me talk about it, and comment about how hot all the boys were. But i was isolated, completely alone with my love of this karate bug man show, Living alonw with my own personal Devils. My parents grew especially tired of it. the near constant sound of me sitting in my room, doing transformation poses in the mirror with a stupid grin on my face. I’m 14, I shouldn’t be liking this Kids show. I should start acting like an adult.  an adult... man, that was some shitty advice. when you’re a teen, it’s always, “you’re gonna be an adult soon, so you better act like it” but then when you’re an adult it’s always “well you’re only 18, you’re still a child honestly”. Most of the people I found online who liked kamen rider WERE adults.  I should mention that i’m an only child and I’m not exactly a talkative person, especially at school I would keep to myself. It wasn’t that I wanted to talk, moreso that I had nobody to talk TO about the things that were on my mind. I wanted desperately to tell people about kamen rider, and I wanted desperately to share my interests with people in a way that mattered. I didn’t have exceptionally deep friendships until quarantine. I spent most of my time alone, and if I wasn’t alone, I was with my parents, and when I was with my parents there wasn’t much I wanted to talk about because it was all fairly negative. So I talked about the positive things in my life. Kamen rider. I talked INCESSANTLY about kamen rider to them and they hated it. They didn’t understand it, and frankly didnt care about it. it was distracting me from my studies, god forbid keeping me alive. I don’t want to say my parents were abusive during this time, but frankly, they were pretty damn close. They didn’t actually realize how badly I was hurting, and didn’t realize how bad it really was. Figures, that mask was good for a lot more than hiding my love of masked bug men. though I was on a rollercoaster of good and bad, It was the end of the 2010s, and as I completed my Journey through this Decade and moved into the next, I was filled with Excitement at reaching the Climax of the year, ready to Jump into the next one. Progress isn’t always linear after all.

What’s the difference between ultra replica/csm, memorial stuff, and dx releases
DX are the standard toys put out during the show and movies (and sometimes with some post-series media like the genm musuo gashat) which are made to be very solid and do everything you'd expect a roleplay toy to do -- transformation, finishers, attacks if it's a weapon, compatibility with all the gimmick toys etc. Sometimes if it's a Premium Bandai release they'll include voicelines or other extras to make it more appealing. It's difficult to really describe it because it's like the standard point of reference so it's hard to know what to compare it to if you don't know about the other stuff too
Memorial releases are generally done just after the show is over and can be thought of as an improved version for a higher pricepoint. Typically this consists of including BGM and voicelines from the cast, though can also do things like changing the items to be more show-accurate (such as Decker's cards removing the words), including exclusive items (like Live and Jeanne's final form items), fun bonuses (like the Kiramai Wheel including Juuru's sketchbook), or changing the device entirely through adding die-cast or in Zenkaiger's case greatly increasing the size. It's premium versions of previously released items, basically, to be more show-accurate and 'complete' for a higher price (usually double the amount of the DX). As an extra note, Memorial typically does Sentai and Ultra's transformation items as a whole; but generally only does Rider's transformation items -- for instance, the Revice releases did just the Vistamps of the main cast but Decker and Zenkaiger's releases were of the full transformation devices.
CSM/Ultra Replica is stupidly high prices for the most perfect rendition of a belt you could ever possibly expect; having all of Memorial's pluses and more. They're made specifically for adult collectors too and hence are sized for adults and to be worn by adults in the case of belts. Generally these lines cover older early 2000s series that are popular and whose DX items are super outdated, but they have also recently dabbled in being the way you get a roleplay item of an adult-aimed entry (BLACK SUN and Shin Kamen Rider for instance). In those cases they also dabble in new technology, such as the BLACK SUN belts being auto-transformations that are activated through a sensor detecting your movement. CSM items also feature very high-quality materials such as Die-Cast for that extra bit of quality

I've been obsessed with Tokusatsu stuff for a few months now and haven't really wrapped my head around how I want to gush or ramble about it. I've probably posted random stuff on Twitter and just forgot but I need an excuse to post some pics here between comic updates and I don't see any Tumblr posts I've forgotten so HERE WE GO.
Tumblr media
I've always loved Godzilla and the old Power Rangers seasons, and have spent years trying to get more into actual Super Sentai and Kamen Rider stuff, but never quite committed fully to any of it. Yet something just clicked in my brain and rewired my DNA earlier this year and now I'm cripplingly addicted. (Shin Kamen Rider didn't quite spark this, but the hype leading up to seeing it in theaters definitely helped fan the flames.)
I dunno why it took me so long to get hooked. It's all so up my alley. For a while I also thought I'd only be interested in the stuff closer to the 90's and 2000's eras and thought that the modern Riders looked too goofy and "toyetic," but then another click went off in my head and I got hooked on Geats. It was like a blastwave went off in my mind, suddenly I understood the appeal of Reiwa and late Heisei Rider.
Tumblr media
I was enjoying it so much that I even impulse-bought a couple of DX Belt toys;
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(They're basically absurdly expensive fidget toys for me to giggle at and I don't regret it for a second.)
I've been sorta bouncing back and forth through different eras as I decide what to watch. I watched Kamen Rider Black with Hayley, watched a ton of Geats on my own, then burnt through Kuuga.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And between Rider series I've been dabbling in Super Sentai, starting with Dairanger which had some fun doses of nostalgia, being the source of a bunch of footage from later episodes of MMPR. I also watched Shuriken Sentai Ninninger, which has a rep for being a weaker season but I still enjoyed it a lot.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Especially Kyuemon. Apparently my weakness for femboys and weird monster guys is not immune to a goofy rubber suit in a toku show, especially when the two are combined.)
I don't want this to be as long-winded as the Armored Core post, but I definitely want to share more Toku stuff as I move through the series. I hope I don't burn myself out but I can't stop watching them. I started Ultraman Tiga recently, too. While not as up my alley as the other two of the big three, I do love me some kaiju and exploding miniatures.
It's so rare I get into something that I can't articulate the appeal of without just bluntly saying "it's fun." It fires off the same neurons in my brain as pro wrestling. It's stupid and super fun. Pretty easy to find these shows around the internet, too. Shin Kamen Rider is on Amazon Prime, and a lot of the older stuff can be dug up on the Internet Archive or streamed on Tubi.
(Those just being the most accessible options for peeps who don't want to dawn their pirate hats and go sailing the seas of nyaa, of course.)

We'll Make a Way (Chapter 2)
Chapter 2: Just Take It Closer to Your Heart
Sento meets a child and a tall man, evil coffee appears, contact and progress is made, and Sento plays babysitter to a very strange child.
AO3: https://archiveofourown.org/works/40121754/chapters/100598493
Sento Kiryu has a child standing over him. He isn’t all that sure where the hell this child came from, or why, but he seemed rather angry. The boy was dressed in a bright pink onesie and held a colorful white, green, and pink hammer in his hand. Menacingly, the boy raised it again as he repeats his demand, “Give Puzzle his powers back!”
The boy hit Sento with the hammer, but it felt more like being hit with an inflatable toy than anything dangerous, right down to the squeaky sound it made. “One, I don’t know what you’re talking about, two! Get off me!” Confused and a bit annoyed, Sento, perhaps a little too roughly, shoves the boy off. The boy lands on the ground with an “oof” and another squeak, his bangs falling into a strangely pink eye.
“Seriously,” He pulls himself off the ground, where the boy had knocked him down. “What is with you? And who are you?”
It’s then that someone else joins the situation, a tall man with dark hair who rushes to the boy, “Mu!”
Sento can’t help but stare at the man, a flash of his dream from earlier coming to him. There were two other Riders that he had fought, in the dream, and that man… Sento recognized that man as one of them, the black and white one. This child - Mu, though, wasn’t the other Rider he’d fought, that one wasn’t a child… though he could admit that the boy bore some resemblance to the face underneath the mask of the pink and green armor.
With his revelation in hand, Sento points at the man, “Wait, you’re that black and white Kamen Rider!”
The man looks up at him from where he squatted beside Mu. Holding the Mu’s hand in his, he looks up, surprised, “How do you…?”
Loudly, Mu answers, “’Cause he’s Bill!”
Looking back at Mu, the man wonders, “You think he’s Build?”
As the realization that his dream was real, Sento raised the Doctor and Gamer Fulbottles in his hand so he could look at them. “Then that means that… I was the one who collected these?” When? Why was he only just now remembering this, the day that Mu and this man – this other Rider – found him?
“Give them back!” Mu yells again, jumping forward suddenly.
Though Mu was only a child, his sudden action caused Sento to reel back and raise his arm even higher, in the hopes it would be out of Mu’s reach. “Hey, hold on!”
Mu pouts as the man gently grabs his shoulders and pulls him back. In a tired, almost ragged voice, the man pleads, “Please, it’s taken us two years just to find you.”
What.
“Two years?!” Sento echoes, unable to hide his surprise.
So the man, Kuroto, recounts his tale, Mu occasionally chiming in. Apparently, he’d come with his brother, who was that other Rider, but something is making him sick and that’s why – for reasons Sento still wasn’t really clear on – Mu was here. And they’d spent the past six years searching for Build, hoping to be able to get Para-DX’s powers back, and perhaps even a way home.
“H-hold up a second,” Sento doesn’t like that his voice shakes a little as he tries to process their story, “You come from a world where there’s no Skywall? I mean, you say it like that means nothing, but if it’s true than that means parallel worlds exist!”
As Mu shoots him an unamused and disbelieving look, Kuroto attempts to cross his arms, before remembering that he’s keeping one hand on Mu to keep him restrained. “You’re surprised? You already came to our world.”
Right, they’ve only just met, really. “I only remember the past year of my life, alright?” He explains, walking over to the wall of the building across from Nascita, leaning against it. “A bad case of amnesia.” Pushing himself off of the building, he adds, “So I really don’t remember much.”
While Mu’s expression softens from the disbelief, more like something of sympathy, his was still pouting. Kuroto still looks tired, but perhaps a little less annoyed than he’d been before. He sighs, “Look, just give us Para-DX’s powers back, that’s a start, at least.”
Sento’s about to consider it when Mu launches himself forward again, attempting to grab the Fullbottles once more. Sento catches him by the wrist, resulting in him holding the rather light child a little off the ground. Mu immediately begins to wiggle, kicking his legs out. “I can’t,” Sento explained.
A surprisingly familiar face pushes through, causing Sento to let go of Mu and Mu to plop to the ground with a huff. The man takes the Fullbottles, before turning to face Sento. “It’s been a while,” Sento tenses, at the sight of Soichi Isurugi. “Or not.”
“What do you want?” Sento demanded, knowing that neither Mu nor Kuroto would know why he was so wary. They didn’t know anything about this man who’s just arrived, but whatever the reasoning for his appearance, Sento doubted it would be good.
Soichi sounds amused when he responds, “Don’t look so grim, this whole situation-“ He gestures vaguely around them, “-isn’t very good for me, either.” In an almost amused tone, he adds, “So I thought I’d give you a hint.”
“What?” So far, while the monsters that had appeared earlier, and Banjou’s disappeance were strange, he didn’t think things were so bad. Then again, they really didn’t know what was going. But that things were to the point that Soichi felt that it could be a problem for him… Well, Sento wasn’t convinced.
But uncaring of Sento’s disbelief, Soichi continued, “Those monsters you fought earlier, that are causing this? They’re the result of Nebula Gas being combined with the Game Disease that come from their-“ He points at Kuroto and Mu, “-world. Nebula Bugsters.” He’s sat down, now, setting his suit case on the table and pulling things out, before setting down the two Fullbottles he’s stolen. “The only ones that can stop them are those with the power of Game Disease.”
That made enough sense, Sento knows that using the power of the Doctor and Game Fullbottles had been the only way he’d been able to fight the Nebula Bugsters earlier. Soichi gives Sento a knowing look, “The reason you haven’t given these Fullbottles, this power, back, is because you thought you might need the power to fight the Nebula Bugsters. Correct?” It was an annoyance that he could see through Sento so easily, knew exactly what he had deduced.
Then he tosses the Game Fullbottle at Kuroto, who, though startled catches it with a confused expression. “Shake it by your ear,” Soichi explains, “It should allow you to communicate with your world.”
Hesitantly, Kuroto raises the bottle to his ear and shakes it, just as Soichi instructed.
---
“Mu?” Parad kept desperately repeating. He hadn’t thought that Mu had such a strong connection over the bond. They’d known that, he, Emu, and Kuroto were able, to some extent, communicate with each other through their bond. Even then, it was often more feelings than actual words. But he’d heard Mu’s voice, he knows it. And he doesn’t care that everyone is beginning to stare, he has to try to reach out to Mu…
The next voice he hears, the one that seems to respond to him isn’t Mu’s, though. Instead, it was Kuroto’s which could very well be the better option of the two. “Parad?” He sounds a little hopeful. “Parad, is that you?”
“Kuroto! Where have you and Emu been? It’s been two weeks!” Now he’s certain everyone is staring. But it didn’t matter. He finally had contact with Kuroto and Emu and that was all he cared about.
“Two weeks?” Kuroto echoed, surprised, “It’s been two years since we got here…”
Two years? Just what was Kuroto saying? That was impossible, there was no way that it could have been that long. “Two years? What do you mean?” He had to be wrong, it couldn’t have been two years.
Parad quickly decided that wasn’t an important thing to worry about at that moment, “Listen, these strange Bugsters and this guy appeared- he called them Nebula Bugsters-“
Judging by Kuroto’s surprised tone, he wasn’t expecting that, “You have Nebula Bugsters there too?”
Though Kuroto can’t see it, Parad nods, “Yeah, there’s this guy that calls himself Right Kaiser, grey with red gears on his right, for some reason, and some thing called Enigma. He says we have twenty-four hours before the world will be destroyed.”
“Just what could be going on…?” Kuroto wondered out loud.
“Yes, and a man going on about some Skywall…” He looks over to the man, “Uh, what’s your name?”
Looking extremely confused, the man answers, “Ryuga Banjou.”
“Right, his name’s Ryuga Banjou-“
“Ryuga Banjou?” Kuroto groaned, “Is that even important information?”
“Yes! He knows Build!”
“He knows Build?”
Again, though Kuroto couldn’t see, Parad nodded. “Yeah. Listen, whatever Right Kaiser did, none of us can transform now, not just me. We can’t fight the Nebula Bugsters after whatever that Enigma caused.”
There’s a pause, Kuroto tells him, “I left some notes in my journal, from when Build first appeared during Chronicle and attacked me. Maybe you can do something with those.”
That was something, at least. It could help, and that was the best Parad could hope for. “We’ll check. Just… you and Emu stay safe, I’ll tell the others about all of this.”
“We… will.” Kuroto responded, and then there was silence.
---
Slowly, Kuroto lowers the Game Fullbottle from his ear, hoping that keeping his movements slow would quell the sudden and strange growing nausea. He’s not sure where it came from, or why, but it was terribly timed. A moment later, though, he was shaking, attempting to lower himself to the ground, so he wouldn’t fall.
“Zombie?” Mu sounds terribly concerned, grabbing ahold of his arm.
It was then the pain struck and he let out a startled cry of pain. This pain was different from the pain he was used to, the one that he always seemed to have. Then Sento rushes over, “Hey! Are you okay? Come on!” Kuroto doesn’t stay awake much longer after that.
Sento’s worried about Kuroto’s sudden collapsed. He is just as worried when Soichi stands and begins to walk over, “Oh, it seems the essence of the bottle has a bad effect on him. He is a virus, after all. Not unlike that boy, there.” He points at Mu, who just glares back, the hand not grabbing Kuroto summoning his hammer again in a cloud of orange and blue pixels.
Kneeling down besides Kuroto, Soichi snatched the Fullbottle, “He should feel better in a bit.” He holds the bottle towards Sento, who snatches it away. He didn’t trust Soichi with any Fullbottles, now.
Watching as he meanders back toward the chair and table he’d set up at, Sento asks, “How do you know all this?”
Soichi sits back down, beginning to pour himself a cup of the coffee he’d been preparing. “Someone published a paper about how the Skywall might provide a means to travel to parallel worlds.” As though that alone answered anything. “A researcher for the Touto government: Kaisei Mogami.” He takes a sip of his coffee, before spitting it back out in distaste.
“Kaisei Mogami,” Sento repeats the name. For some reason… it sounded a bit familiar.
Beginning to clean up, Soichi adds, “I suspect he is behind all of this, you’ll have to stop his scheme.” He stands, pulling a pair of Fullbottles out of his jacket, setting them on the table. “Consider these a gift.” As he begins to walk off, he reminds, “Don’t forget to put the cup back inside.”
Maybe it would have been fine if he hadn’t added that last bit. But as it was, Sento couldn’t help but call out, “Why did you betray us?!”
To his surprise, Soichi does stop, if only for a moment, to call out his answer, “That’s a story for another time.” Then a wave, “Ciao.”
Sento rushes after him, but by the time he makes it out of the alley Nascita’s in, Soichi’s gone, lost in the sea of people.
“Hey! Are you just gonna leave me and Zombie!?” He’s called back by a worried sounding Mu. Reminded that he was there, and that Kuroto was unconscious on the ground, Sento makes his way back. Mu stares at him, a strangely calculating look for a child his age.
Then, in a careful voice, Mu asks, “Did he hurt you?”
“What?”
“Did that man hurt you? You asked him why he betrayed you, so he must have.” Mu looks down at Kuroto, his frown fixing itself firming to his face. It felt… almost like Mu was someone else, now. Not quite so childish as he’d seemed before. “Someone betrayed Emu and Zombie. It was bad and he hurt them a lot.”
Sento isn’t really sure what to say, nor did he really see the point in telling Mu, anyway. So he changes the subject, “Why don’t we try to get Kuroto inside, alright? Maybe get him lying on something other than the ground.”
Mu’s frown lessens as it’s replaced with a determined expression as he nods.
---
True to Kuroto’s words, he had notes about his first encounter with Build, marked neatly by a dog-eared page in his journal. It was the first of several pages that detailed his observations about Build and his abilities, at least based off of his initial meeting, having apparently occurred sometime close to the end of Chronicle. Past the observations were then his speculation, specifically in regards to the possibility of recreating – or at least partially replicating – Build’s power.
The schematics and code for a new Gashat were written down, as well as instructions on it’s use. To be able to use the Gashat, it would need to be used alongside another Gashat. That would mean, then, it couldn’t be used alongside any double Gashats – which would only really prove a problem for either of the Snipes, because Saki had no reason to use Taddle Fantasy, Emu wasn’t here, and Parad still couldn’t transform.
“I can run it over to Tsukuru,” Nico said, peering over Kiriya’s shoulder as the two of them and Parad look through the pages detailing Build. “He should be able to make a Gashat out of it pretty quick, since it’s all here.”
Kiriya picks up the journal, handing it to Nico, “Yeah, sounds like the best thing to do. Hopefully it’ll be done before any more of those Nebula Bugsters show up.”
“Hopefully,” Nico nods, “Else we’ll have some problems.”
“Takeru said he’ll try to keep helping,” Parad tells them, “But that’s only so much.”
“Something’s better than nothing,” Kiriya said.
The whole time, Graphite had been watching them from the corner of the CR, where he’d set up the nest. Where he had been since Emu and Kuroto’s disappearance. No one wanted to directly say he was moping, but he was very much moping and had taken ahold of all of Emu’s things, refusing to let anyone touch them. Finally, he stands, taking a moment to pull a blanket over the pile of Emu’s clothing and his bag.
Walking over he stares at them, silent. Parad supposed they should give him the news. “We know where Emu and Kuroto are.”
“That is good,” Graphite carefully said, crossing his arms. “But there’s more.”
Waving Kuroto’s journal a little in her gesturing, Nico answered, “Yeah, some maniac is trying to destroy this world, and M and Kuroto are in an entirely different world.”
Graphite pursed his lips, before telling them, “I shall help however I can.”
---
Mr. Bunny dragged Zombie into the fridge in the café, and then puts him on the single bed down there. He told Mu it was a good place for Zombie to rest, and Mu had to agree. The bed was a bit small, but he knows Zombie has slept on worse.
“So, Mr. Bunny,” Mu begins, sitting on the stairs as he watches Mr. Bunny writing across the white board. Mr. Bunny doesn’t pause, just keeps writing something or other across the board. Mu isn’t paying much attention as to what it is. “Did Mr. Coffee really betray you?”
That causes Mr. Bunny to pause a little, his marker slowing just a bit. “Yeah,” He answers, “Thought that was obvious.”
Humming, Mu slides down the stairs to the bottom step, “I wanted to double check. So he hurt you?”
“Why do you want so badly to talk about this?” With an irritated tone, Mr. Bunny caps his marker, setting it down and shooting Mu a glare.
“Because if someone hurt you, that isn’t good.” He gets up from the stairs and tugs at Mr. Bunny’s pant leg, “And if someone betrayed you, that means that you had trusted them. And that would hurt. Sometimes it’s easier if you can talk to someone about it.”
“I don’t need to talk to anyone about it,” Mr. Bunny reaches for his coat, “Now I dont think I’m supposed to leave kids unattended, and I have no clue where Misora or Sawa are, so I guess you’re coming with me.”
“Okay,” Mu nodded, “Where are we going?”
Mr. Bunny sighed, “We’re going to find out more about that Mogami.” He gives Mu a strange look, “Hey, do you have any… less weird clothes?”
“My clothes aren’t weird!” Mu huffs, “They’re super cool, ‘cause they’re Mighty themed! You’re the one with weird clothes!”
“Okay, never mind, let’s just get going.”
Following after Mr. Bunny, he leads Mu to this place that the sign said was the “Touto” something something something “Physics”. Mu didn’t know what the rest of the words were. It didn’t really matter, Mr. Bunny didn’t even really pay a whole lot of attention him, he was focused on talking to Mr. Beard. But Mu made sure to be a good boy and stay near Mr. Bunny.
“Sorry to bother you while it’s so busy,” Mr. Bunny said to Mr. Beard.
“It’s not a bother, this is to get rid of the Nebula Bugsters,” Mr. Beard told him. He’s holding a small tablet and slides it towards Mr. Bunny. Mu grabs the edge of the table so he can try to see. “This is Kaisei Mogami, he was studying parallel worlds.”
Oh! Parallel worlds, those are the things that Mr. Bunny and Mr. Coffee have been talking about! Mu didn’t really get why it was so strange to Mr. Bunny, there being multiple worlds that can be similar but different make sense. Like when you have games that are similar but take place in different worlds and aren’t actually connected.
Mr. Beard continued, “Ten years ago, he found an unknown virus in the Skywall,” Mr. Bunny picks up the tablet and takes a closer look.
“Oh!” Mu cried, hopping up and down excitedly. He knows the answer! “That virus musta been Game Disease!”
His outburst seems to have caught Mr. Beard’s attention. “Why do you have a kid with you?”
“Don’t worry about it,” Sento waved him off, “Keep going.”
So Mr. Beard does, though he still seems a bit confused as to Mu’s presence. “Mogami’s theory was that it came from another world-“
“Because it did,” Mu adds, but Mr. Beard keeps going, mostly unbothered by the interruption.
“-So he tried to create a device that would be able to travel between the worlds, Enigma.”
“That’s the thing that Mr. Coffee mentioned!”
Continuing on, Mr. Beard adds, “But the government wouldn’t approve his budget, so he quit.” Mr. Beard begins to pace a little, wandering away a bit. “Katsuragi mentioned that he took a job at Nanba Heavy Industries after that.”
Judging by Mr. Bunny’s expression, he recognized one of those names. “Katsuragi?” He repeats before turning towards Mr. Beard, “Why would Takumi Katsuragi know Kaisei Mogami?”
Who was this Takumi Katsuragi? Obviously, he was important, at least to Mr. Bunny in some way. And it was obviously strange that Katsuragi knows this Mogami guy. So Mu makes sure to listen carefully, maybe he’ll get a hint.
Mr. Beard is looking out the wall of windows, now. “He was Mogami’s supervisor, so he was involved in many of his projects. He had an… appreciation for Mogami’s bold thinking and convictions.”
With that information, Mr. Bunny leaves and they return to the café. There are two other people here now, Ms. Sora and Ms. Reporter, they seem to be friends of Mr. Bunny.
Ms. Reporter hands Mr. Bunny some papers, telling him, “After he started working for Nanba, Mogami found a way to fuse Game Disease and Nebula Gas.” Mr. Bunny flipped through the papers, “He proposed creating a biological weapon based on it, the Kaiser System.”
“Kaizer System?” Mu echoed quietly, wondering why anyone would name their weapon something so terribly silly sounding. Zombie was much better at naming things. Next thing you know, that Mogami will start calling himself Kaizer too.
“Apparently, it needed a larger sample of Game Disease, though,” Ms. Reporter continued, “So at the same time, he was allowed to work on Enigma. He worked with Katsuragi Takumi to complete Enigma.” Oh, there was that Katsuron guy again.
Mr. Bunny looked at her, “How didn’t the public find out?”
“Ah, well…” Ms. Reporter began, “Apparently, Mogami vanished with the Enigma and the designs for the Kaiser System. But that was all I was able to find out.” She sits down in the chair beside the bed.
Taking in her words, Mr. Bunny stares at his computer, before rushing over. Hurriedly, he began to type. Mu wondered what he was doing, it reminded him of when someone was Googlying things. Maybe Mr. Bunny was Googlying something about that Mogami, or the Kaizer, or the Enigma?
Mu trots over, attempting to peer at the computer screen on the desk, right as Mr. Bunny declared, “Bingo!” He must have found what he was looking for. “Katsuragi was working with Mogami to build Enigma. It even seems he went to Kuroto and Mu’s world himself, a few times!”
Perking up, Mu thought about how the Bill that showed up and stole Puzzle’s power didn’t act all that much like Mr. Bunny. He’d bet that the one that Zombie met during the game was pretty different too. Probably the same one that took Puzzle’s power, which couldn’t have been Mr. Bunny. Because Mr. Bunny didn’t act anything like that Bill.
“There’s even a lot data on Para-DX’s power…” Mr. Bunny continued, thinking of what to make of this information. Mu already knew. Obviously that Kasturon guy was the one that stole Puzzle’s power, not Mr. Bunny!
Mr. Bunny walks away from the computer, prompting Mu to walk around the desk the other way. “I see! I get it now, that dream I had… the Build that took Para-DX’s essence… That was Takumi Katsuragi!”
Nodding furiously, Mu adds, “Yeah! ‘Cause you don’t act anything like that Bill!” Then he pauses, “Uh… why are you dreaming about something he did, though?”
“Well I think it’s that I fell asleep with the Para-DX bottle and…” He sort of trails off, as though questioning his answer. But he continues anyway, “Some sort of strange power did it.”
“That doesn’t even sound the slightest bit scientific,” Ms. Sora groans.
Ms. Reporter frowned, “If that’s what happened… then why did Katsuragi do it?”
“Most likely, he knew what Mogami was planning. Mogami wanted to combine two parallel worlds, ours and Para-DX’s.”
That didn’t sound good, and it’s Ms. Sora who asks just what would happen, “What would happen if he does that?” After all, they couldn’t have missed the other Earth and whatever was going on. Mr. Coffee said that Enigma was activated, so obviously this could happen.
She knocks an hourglass off the table, it falls to the floor and shatters, causing her to startle. Everyone stares, for a moment, before Mr. Bunny answers, “Both worlds would likely be destroyed.”
Though it was obvious, Mu couldn’t help but say, “That would be very bad.”
---
It was the next day, now. Just how long had they been trying to tend to the injured and infected? It had all begun to blur together, after meeting Banjou and getting in contact with Kuroto again. Everything had gotten more complicated and now, Parad wasn’t really sure what to do.
With the fate of the world on their shoulders, Parad somehow comes up with an answer. So he turns to leave, seen by Banjou who shot up from the chair he sat on, “Where are you going.”
Parad wasn’t the only one who might have forever lost someone to Engima. Banjou was here, torn from his own world and they don’t know if he’ll ever be able to return. Surely, just as there were people here who cared for Emu and Kuroto, who were worried, there were people in Banjou’s world who would be affected by his disappearance. They didn’t know how that Build had been able to freely travel between worlds, and they didn’t know if they could replicate that in anyway. If Banjou could ever go home, if they could ever bring Kuroto and Emu back.
“To find Enigma.”
Banjou huffed, “What’s the point? You don’t have any leads-“
“That doesn’t matter!” Parad hadn’t meant to snap. Usually, he was better about not snapping at people. But everything seems to have worn his patience thin. “I can’t just sit here.”

Kamen Rider Rogue
Kamen Rider Cronus
- from Kamen Rider RKF
  Rider Kick's Figure
- by Bandai
Launched in 2018, RKF - Rider Kick's Figure - was a line of action figures that seemed like it was going to be an all-inclusive line of affordable action figures from across the franchise.
The focus was accessories and articulation - with a few gimmick figures in the mix. But a departure from the traditional gimmick-focused DX toys based around a unifying play pattern. And the 4.5 inch size (11.43 cm) was a departure from the previous 6 inch (15.24cm) lines.
RKF did cover a wide variety of series;
Decade, W, Ex-Aid, Build, Saber, Zero-One and Zi-O - the series the line was designed for.
But after Saber, it ended. And the Revice Remix Series was launched - roughly the same scale, but back to a line-wide Gimmick for each figure.
It's a shame really, because the idea of affordable toys of these characters was really appealing - both Cronus and Rogue's SHF releases were triple the cost of these at release and have only increased since.
I mean, the tagine for the toy series was "So affordable and it's still articulated!"
Comparatively limited articulation to SHF, and largely unpainted accessories, but for the price (about $15 usd) you get a lot of play value and great sculpts. And it was a way to collect a lot of characters that you might not be able to get from other lines.

your ginga liveblog got me nostalgic for ultra so I started looking at the toy line again and I checked to make sure I wasn't imagining that the dx ginga spark came with no spark dolls. I didn't imagine that and now I'm thinking about what if kamen rider did that. imagine buying an ooo driver with no medals or w driver with no memories
I can’t believe it didnt at least come with a Ginga one! Like cmon man what are you supposed to do with JUST a Ginga Spark.

DX Dogouken Gekido + Unofficial Blade Extension + Thoughts on Saber
I think Saber has the most transformation items of any Kamen Rider to date, so it’s not that surprising that at least one of them would appeal to me enough to pick it up, though it was the extension sliding across my feed that was the nail in the coffin. There are a couple full sized official swords and unofficial extensions for blades, with this being the first that was revealed and released. And in a show all about swords, it’s cool to have a full-sized sword to match.
Assembly: Putting the extension together isn’t difficult, but is careful work. There’s a chance of the internal mechanisms being misaligned if you’re not careful, so you should start taking the screws out on a flat surface, and not pick it up once it starts giving. This particular extension comes with an appropriate screwdriver and a detailed sheet of the locations of all the screws you will be taking (basically all of them). There are only 2 sizes of screw, long for the handle and mechanics, and short for the blade, so don’t worry about getting them mixed up or putting them in a cup so you don’t lose them during the process.
The Good: Even without the extension, this is a fairly hefty roleplay toy. It does the slashy sounds you’d expect, and has specific noises to enhance the transformation books and for finisher moves. With the extension it’s longer than a real short sword.
The Bad: While I call it a transformation device, it doesn’t have many more sounds than a typical roleplay sword would from any other series, with most of the transformation noises coming from the Ride Book. Also, while the sword is impressively big with the extension, it’s still smaller than in the show, and not as wide, as the existing sculpt hinders it in that regard.
Tumblr media
Thoughts on Saber: I’ve talked to people who really like Saber and those who don’t like it at all. I’m of the notion that it’s ok. Not terrible, but not spectacular either. I really like the fast pace the show started out with, but it slowed to a crawl during the second arc and only started reaching that speed and intrigue again near the very end of the show.
I like the characters, and even early on I felt like we got a better than basic understanding of all of them. I also think that the action, comedy, and cinematography were all very good.
However, I have some issues with the writing. Again, I think the first quarter of the show was very good, but the second was very slow and repetitive in comparison with the way the betrayals and returns of the swordsmen were handled. And while the third improved, it continued some of that repetition with Espada and the twins. And I have particular issue with the theme of duty versus freedom that permeated the show. I don’t think it’s a bad moral, as it was shown that a balance of the two is important for both society and ones own happiness, but the sides weren’t balanced very well. Everyone who was initially fully on the side of duty got redeemed (the swordsmen), while everyone who chose Freedom died (Calibur, the Megido, Desast, and Solomon). There really should have been some pushback on either side, with some of the duty-bound losing their lives and some of the freedom-seekers getting redeemed.
Sorry I didn’t do a full overview like I usually do, but while I do like the series, nothing about Saber (apart from that last point) really stood out to me enough to write a full piece on it, so I thought I’d just give my abridged thoughts here.
Overall, this is a decent roleplay toy and Saber is a decent show. If you’ve ever handled a roleplay sword before, then you have a pretty good idea of what you’re going to be getting, and Saber is similar in many ways. Let’s hope Revice will stamp a better impression on me.

Following the figure’s announcement this morning, full details have been posted to the official Tamashii Nations blog of the upcoming S.H. Figuarts Shinkocchou Seihou Kamen Rider W Fuuto Detective Animation Memorial ver.; made to commemorate the upcoming Fuuto Detective anime that adapts the popular Kamen Rider W manga.
This release of the popular Cyclone/Joker design is not simply a re-issue of the original figure from 2016, but features two new notable accessories -- a stand made in the style of the upcoming anime, and a large wired cloth muffler to vastly increase the poses and scenes you can create with the figure. Note that this accessory replaces the hard plastic oversized muffler accessory included with the original release. The figure otherwise seems to be cast in the same colours and includes the other accessories of the original release, such as the hard plastic normal-sized muffler.

Marvel Legends Toei Spiderman officially revealed
While this blog usually only covers Tokusatsu-specific toylines such as S.H. Figuarts and Lightning Collection, a new Hasbro reveal today is a special exception. On their latest stream, Marvel Legends have revealed that the version of Spiderman who starred in the 1978 Tokusatsu show of the same name is to see release. A very accurate rendition of the character that includes his Spider Bracelet, this figure of Takuya Yamashiro also comes with two webs that have a striking resemblance to 70s Tokusatsu props; and comes in special closed-box packaging resembling a poster from the time.
Marvel Legends Toei Spiderman is to go up for pre-order tomorrow on Hasbro Pulse. While no release info is available yet, it is likely he is to be priced at $25 and release later this year.
