The meaning of “Vindicate” because I found a pretty foul potential double entendre in this episode’s title

It’s a very fun word that dances nearby the feeling of “exonerate” and “avenge”, but it can ALSO mean something closer to “justify” or “substantiate” depending on the context.

The first chop of the episode and the title implies Dwicky to be this potential vindicator, and he was- but not in the sense that he’s validating Dib’s belief in the paranormal. He doesn’t need anyone to confirm he’s right about Zim or that he’s not delusional, he already knows that. But he has been accused of such by everyone who knows his name, so, maybe that’s the real meaning, right? That Dwicky was supposed to be his advocate and absolve him in the eyes of everyone else who treated him so poorly? I’m sure that’s what he was hoping for… but we know too well how that turned out.

Dwicky did prove something by the end of this episode though, so it’s a perfectly fitting description of the conclusion. What that entire series of events actually served toward was Dib’s mistrust and low expectations of other people. A disposition that you can say has been…

Top 10 Invader Zim Characters Besides Tak, Skoodge, and Zib Who Should've Made a Comeback in No Particular Order:

#1 Ultra Peepi

There's like a million Godzilla movies + giant robot anime to draw inspiration from for a sequel. We saw at the end of Hamstergeddon that Peepi crash landed back on earth somewhere. So he could be in hiding, burrowed underground, or he could've mutated further and grown gills to hide deep in the ocean. Just invent another monster so there's an excuse to go and awaken Peepi to fight it and make the concept as stupid as you want. The show even already established that a giant Santa monster revisits the planet annually, so the return of Ultra Peepi could double as a sequel to the Most Horrible Xmas Ever. Give me Ultra Peepi King of the Monsters.

#2 Iggins

A big issue with Gaz is that being apathetic and wanting nothing to do with Zim or the paranormal as core facets of her character makes it difficult to create interesting storylines for her. So she mostly ends up just existing to be someone Dib delivers exposition to and to make snide remarks at his expense. GameSlave 2 worked really well for her because there was actually something for her to care about and you got to see how Not So Above It All she is compared to Zim and Dib when it comes to the few things she's passionate about. So it seems like if you want to do more episodes centered around Gaz it'd be a good idea to bring Iggins back as a recurring thorn in her side. Maybe it starts off with her not taking him seriously and beating him without much effort, so she can still see herself as not being like her brother. But then Iggins starts to really get under her skin and she feels like she has to teach him a lesson, but he just never learns. Like Zim, Iggins is too egotistical and overconfident to admit defeat, and it starts to drive Gaz crazy after awhile and eventually she becomes just as obsessed as her brother with trying to beat him and prove once and for all that he sucks.

#3 Service Drone Bob

I would love an episode about him fleeing the empire after they attempted to kill him and joining the Resisty. Actually, what would really be funny is if they did the concept I came up with where they do a Resisty story, but troll the audience by only showing them little slivers of what sounds like a really exciting story as cutaways from a silly, inconsequential no-stakes story completely disconnected from it. But like, in those brief glimpses, you'd get just enough references to what's happened off-screen to form an impression of this whole Zuko-esque character arc that Bob's been through of having his eyes opened and unlearning Irken propaganda and being at war with himself before finally deciding to join the Resisty and then having to win their trust and establishing deep bonds with the rest of the group. And then it all ends with one cutaway indicating that they're about to go into the final all-or-nothing battle and then the last cutaway reveals that everyone died and their actions made no impact on the status quo and will never connect back to Zim in any way.

#4 Chammy Wamboo

I think there was a lot of missed potential with Chammy's first appearance. It's hinted that she has actual supernatural abilities, which makes her vaguely unsettling, but the story didn't really go anywhere with it. I think a good way to bring her back would be if she just appeared with no explanation and started harassing Zim and Dib again but this time it seems like it's actually working and it's freaking them out. Eventually, they figure out that Chammy got back to earth by using her powers to brainwash everyone in her path into being her friends and cooperating to help her get home. Now that she's back she's not going to try to reason with Zim and Dib anymore, she's going to make them be friends whether they like it or not. So it's no longer even a question of whether Chammy's just wrong about their relationship or if Zim and Dib are just being stupid, stubborn idiots who can't see that their lives actually would be better if they became friends. The issue now is that their free will is being violated and she's treating real people like dolls she can mash together and make kissy-noises with.

#5 Invader Tenn

I think a lot of Tenn's popularity is owed to her being one of very few female Irken characters and one whose brief appearance in Megadoomer gave rise to a lot of speculation about what might've happened to her next. The earliest versions of the fake fanon Invader Dib storyline involved an attempt to rescue Tenn from the Meekrob, but I kinda like the idea of her ending up in Moo-Ping 10 and teaming up with Tak to escape. Really though, there's an infinite number of possibilities for whatever happened to Tenn after Megadoomer. Was she left for dead? Did the Tallest blame her for failing her mission even though it wasn't her fault and banish her to a place like Dirt or Foodcourtia as punishment? Did she ever find out Zim blew up her Megadoomer?

#6 Zorphic aka "Madness"

The dog that terrifies Zim turning out to be an alien was such a good twist and I wish we could've seen him make good on his promise to get revenge on Zim for his betrayal. I think he has an interesting personality that sets him apart from a lot of the Zim cast but we never got to see what he's like in retribution mode.

#7 Bill

Outside of Career Day I think we only see Bill once more briefly in Chickenfoot and then again in the Lil Meat Man story, where I don't remember him really doing any of his usual schtick of wasting Dib's time and making his field of expertise look bad, they just kinda drive around together trying to catch Zim but always getting to where he's been after he's already left. I think there could've been some more funny episodes with Bill stepping on Dib's toes. Like Dib needs to follow Zim into a location but Bill is blocking him because he thinks there's a real monster in there and Dib's trying to convince him that it's just a cereal mascot and the real threat is Zim. Or Dib and Bill are investigating the same phenomenon but they disagree about what's causing it. What it actually is is plainly obvious to Dib, but people either believe Bill instead because some poorly timed coincidences make Bill's theory look right, or they just buy into his absurd leaps of logic because they think the complexity of the theory makes it more well thought-out than Dib's simpler, more straightforward explanation. Basically Bill is like a YouTube pop culture theorist making garbage arguments and Dib is the person making debunking videos that unpack all the logical fallacies, glaring omissions, and outright lies used to support his flimsy thesis that ignores what's overtly communicated by the text.

#8 Dwicky

I feel like there's a bit more mileage that could've been gotten out of getting Dib's hopes up and teaching him a harsh lesson by having Dwicky repeatedly promise to help him, only to flake out, until Dib finally realizes that just because he's an adult and he believes him doesn't make him reliable or a worthwhile ally.

#9 Membrane's parents

We only see them briefly in the comics but I really want to know more about Dib and Gaz's grandparents and what relationship they have with them. Are they even still alive? Do they visit ever? Membrane apparently chooses to believe in Santa because he can't bear to think his parents would give him socks for Xmas, so he must otherwise have positive feelings toward them which makes the disappointment of getting socks feel too contradictory to his perception of them to reconcile with. But then again, Dib and Gaz seem to be pretty fond of Membrane, but as outsiders the audience can see that he's a terrible parent and hope that when they get to be teenagers they'll start to realize it. I just feel like if we got to know more about their grandparents we could understand better why Membrane is such a bad father. And who doesn't love a good story about unpacking generational trauma?

#10 Snarl Beast

It's a fucking crime this space cat didn't become a regular cast member. Like I've said before, Snarl could've been like Dib's GIR. An adorable-on-the-outside-but-actually-horrifying little creature who fucks things up for Dib more than he helps, but Dib would never dream of parting with it, and Hot Topic could print money off of it.

War on Love (Masterpost)

This will be the masterpost for all information about the discontinued fic War on Love. Obviously, heavy spoilers ahead, so please read at your own discretion. Content warnings will be listed at the beginning of every individual post, for best accuracy.

I got some dm's and asks here and there regarding War on Love, my ZAGR fic from 2013 that sort of died before it really picked up into the interesting bits. So, for the curious, and so that I can direct future inquirers to their answers, here's a masterpost which will include details of the plot, screenshots of some of the writing (for context), relevant musical tracks, etc.

I go back and forth on whether or not I'd ever completely publish the works, whether I'd publish them as-is with no context, whether I'd write them like some of my other short fics like That Thing on Your Wrist that just sort of jump between important events with brief transitional summaries, or leave it dead. So while there's a possibility it may finish in some way or another, for those who'd rather not wait to find out, this is the place for you.

DAJALR Kiddos

Sitara Phoenix Dwicky

The oldest of the wee ones (not counting Cal and Chance). Biologically Dwight and Johnny's. They were not planned nor expected at all.

Quick aside: My version of Johnny's creator (an evil System-running, wastelock-experiment-making au version of Edgar Vargas) created Johnny from dead Meekrob DNA and my hc for Meekrob is that they are genderless/sexless beings that can carry offspring and generate the organs to do so. Johnny has that ability too originally for very unsavory purposes.

They were conceived right before Johnny was taken away by Vargas back to the System to be tortured into submission. Miraculously, they (and Johnny) survived. Johnny delivered them (and the rest of his biological children) via Caesarean section.

Johnny had them right before being hospitalized for PTSD amongst other things, so their and Johnny's early relationship was a little strained due to the accompanying trauma. It was only when Johnny started healing that they formed a healthy and happy parent/child relationship.

Sadly, due to the torture and stress that Johnny underwent while Sitara was in utero, they did not inherit any powers from either parent that later children will end up having.

They share Johnny's creativity and affinity with the stars and space in general. They are stubborn much like both parents, but especially Johnny. Dwight passed on his social awkwardness (which honestly both parents have), love for animals, and persuasiveness manipulation. They hold fast to their beliefs and values and do end up being the debate team type of kid.

Their hobbies include drawing, building with legos, and playing with the various pets around the Dwicky household, including but not limited to: two guinea pigs and their extensive family, a supernatural sable, a robot bunny, a robot cat, chickens, horses, and a singing plant. They end up becoming an interstellar veterinarian.

They also are rather gender variant at a young age. They like wearing gnc clothing. They ask to start being referred to as they/them as early as six years old.

They have Johnny’s facial structure with Dwight’s nose and a pretty equal mix of their skin tones leaning more towards Johnny’s complexion. They have Johnny’s hair color. They have brown eyes mainly because it’s a dominant gene and more common than Johnny’s black eyes.

Finally, their middle name is in honor of Johnny’s niece (and a dear friend) Addie Denivar’s title of “Phoenix.”

Bellatrix Usagi Dwicky

One of the three Dwicky triplets. She is biologically Johnny and Leera’s daughter. Leera was kind of feeling left out and missed being pregnant when Dwight and Johnny found out they were having twins. Despite being conceived at a later date as the twins, Bellatrix was delivered the same day as them and thus they are considered triplets.

She is the most mischievous of the kids with her first word literally being ‘fuck’ said with such joy and passion. When they start growing up, Bellatrix will be the “leader” of her siblings and get them into heaps of trouble.

She takes on Johnny’s gothic style, literally dyeing her hair black later as a teenager to “match her soul.” She loves black as much as she loves pink. Loves Sailor Moon as much as she loves Kill la Kill (much to Johnny’s dismay). Loves tea parties as much as she loves mosh pits. One thing remains constant and that is she’s the life of the party.

Even as a young girl, she is known for biting other kids who pick on her or her siblings (and she inherited momma’s sharp teeth), her eccentric and constantly changing personality (which later ends up being parent’s inherited borderline), and her ability to charm.

She later develops the power of pyrokinesis with a strange twist, instead of being a source of warmth, it is cold like ice and has a strange effect of burning, but in the same way that frostbite and liquid nitrogen does. She refers to it as coldfire.

She has the facial structure and skin type and tone of Leera with big ol eyes like Johnny and a surprising appearance of a recessive gene of blue eyes. She gets her nose from Johnny. Her hair is a literal blended mix of Leera and Johnny’s. Her ear shape is pointed like Leera’s. Her teeth are pointy and sharp like Leera’s.

Her middle name should be quite obvious- but just in case, yes, it is based off of Sailor Moon’s name. Her parents watched a lot of it while pregnant okay! Also her twin bangs remind her parents of a bunny’s!

Lyra Eileen Dwicky

One of the three Dwicky triplets. She is biologically Johnny and Dwight’s. She, like her sibling Sitara and twin, Artemis, was a surprise as well. But not quite as much as a surprise since Johnny is now aware that he can conceive.

Lyra is a “weird” kid through and through, from a very young age she has had various imaginary friends that she speaks to (that gives Johnny a heart attack every time), never talked much with other kids, and is in her head most of the time.

She prefers to spend her time in the vents in the ceiling of the Dwicky space station, listening to classical music and talking with her friends and reading.

She loves all things supernatural and is not afraid of conventionally spooky things. One of her first toys was a radio with the ability to pick up changes in the environment including EM field , temperature, etc. that turns these changes into words to “communicate with ghosts.” Sadly, she loses the ability to use it.

However, this leads to her power showing up: clairvoyance. It starts with her animatedly talking with people who aren’t there, like full-fledged conversations and continues into her trying to convince her parents to help the lost souls or at least to communicate their feelings. And ultimately comes to a head when she talks to Dwight’s dead spouses (long before Leera and Johnny): Mooshy and Spoopty despite never meeting them before or hearing about them.

She has a button nose that is different than Dwight or Johnny’s probably coming somewhere from Johnny’s mixed Filipino - Spanish Indigenous (Mexico) side. She is a little on the lighter side but has a darker complexion than Artemis and Dwight. She has Johnny’s pupil shape and black eye color. She has a mix of Dwight and Johnny’s hair colors. Her ears are rounded like Dwight’s.

Her middle name is Dwight’s mother’s name.

Artemis Edgar Miles Dwicky

One of the three Dwicky triplets. He is biologically Dwight and Johnny’s, and as mentioned before, he was a surprise.

Artemis is the entertainer of the family. While Bellatrix likes to be the life of the party and is quite dramatic, Artemis takes that on and makes it a performance. Where Bella and Lyra are two different sides of the chaotic spectrum, Artemis is right in the middle. He knows how to have a good time, but he also knows when to stop.

He has loved making his parents laugh since he was a little boy and puts on concerts in the lounge where they all sit together. He starts taking guitar lessons at the age of eight and has started his own band by thirteen.

While he loves to party, he has a very limited capacity to his social battery and it drains very quickly. When he’s not performing, he’s cozying up on his bed and watching tv or playing video games. He’s a sweet boy at heart who just really likes to make people happy.

His power manifests as the ability to cast spells using specific rhythms on his guitar and sometimes vocally in a siren-like manner. He can cause a riot with his music alone and also put a crowd at ease with a single chorus. He isn’t aware of this power until his angry, angsty teenager lyrics started a full-on brawl in the restaurant he was playing at.

His complexion is Dwight’s. His face shape is more angular and heart shaped than either Dwight or Johnny and likely came from Dwight’s mother. Another thing he inherited from Dwight’s mother is his bright red hair, being that she is of Irish decent. His eyes are gray, taking on an almost mix of Dwight’s clear blue and Johnny’s black. His ears are squared like Johnny’s. He has Johnny’s nose.

His middle names take a little more explaining. While Vargas was an asshole abusive creator, there is another alternate dimension Edgar that enters the picture and becomes Dwight’s friend over the course of the three years that Johnny was captured. He helps Dwight through his grief and gets him to do the next right thing and be there for his wife and kid after (seemingly) losing Johnny. He is now a family friend and frequently comes over for game nights and chess matches with Dwight. Thus, Artemis’ first middle name.

… The other middle name is Miles as in Miles Prower as in Tails from the Sonic franchise. Another form of media that the Dwicky household got into around the kids’ development.

Also, as a quick little side note: Johnny goes by Renny (as in parent). Dwight goes by Dad, Father, Daddy, and Papa. Leera goes by Mom, Momma, and Mommy. They also use Spanish and Tagalog (the languages of two major parts of Johnny’s human DNA) terms of endearment.
