Today i am going to share you a famous and traditional recipe saakannam or shakannam. Saaka means vegetables and annam means rice. it is a combination of flavored mixed vegetable rice and this is one of the dish made as naivedyam or prasadam during Navratri festival   దేవతా అనుగ్రహం కోసం కొత్త ప్రసాదం అటుకుల చక్రపొంగలి Chakkara pongali or Sakkra pongali (Sakkra meaning-sugar or sweet) as it is commonly known as is a sweet porridge of rice & yellow moong dal. There are different ways of preparing this dish & is generally offered to God as "Naivedyam" in many South Indian houses during pooja. It is served as a prasadam in many temples of the South.
