finally finished project hail mary. the last few chapters got really, really good. like, can’t put it down good.
unfortunately it took 400 pages before it got that good
#i have my COMPLAINTS with this book#which mostly relate to andy weirs writing style#the man does not know how to write different characters in casual style#the only reason the alien is distinct is bc they are working in different types#his preferred characters are all the same across all the books#its really noticeable when multiple humans itneract too#and his protag is like the martian but more annoying#at the start he gets bearable towards the end but got i hated him for a while#also he has this annoying formula that repeats across many characters and situations#character a asks character b to explain something#b says 'sure its easy [science jargon]'#like#verbatim#they literally just go sure its easy science jargon#it happens several times#not evne the same characters#du bois has the most distinct voice and you can tell its bc he actually tried to make him Different(tm)#anyway rant over#did i actually enjoy this book?#i dont think so but at least its over
