Postcards from Snagglepuss
Guess who's coming to (Thanksgiving) dinner!
The news coming by way of a surprise phone call on Huckleberry's mobile phone the other night over snacks at the Lake Delton retreat of Crazy Claws:
"Hi there, all you happy people ... guess who this is?"
To which Huck responded, "We can tell by your somewhat myopic voice ... is it Droopy?"
"You had better believe it!"
"Rather surprising," Huckleberry responded, "that you were able to find us up here in Wisconsin."
"Who do you mean by 'us,' Huckleberry?" Whereupon Chuckleberry "himself" scanned his cameraphone to catch our company so gathered, including the Hair Bear Bunch, yours truly, Yakky Doodle and Chopper, Pixie and Dixie and Touché Turtle and Dum-Dum, so Drooper could get some idea of what Huck was talking about. Which had Droopy responding "How about that?!"
(Short pause to catch breath at what was to follow.)
"You may not know it, fellows ... but Dripple and I have decided to come up your way for Thanksgiving."
"Heavens to Plymouth Rock, Myles Standish even!" responded I. (As well as assorted other rejoinders.)
Bringing Dripple to the phone (and, hence, the conversation), Droopy couldn't help but sense some sort of agreement at the announcement. Whereupon Dripple, Droopy's somewhat half-baked son, joined in the converse: "I was rather surprised how many of you could be in Wisconsin all at one time ... and I thought Wisconsin was all about cheese all this time!"
"Well, I think you'll be surprised when Thanksgiving comes along," Huck was quick to remark. "There's no doubt it'll be rather interesting." To which I added, "Though it's likely for snow to come around Thanksgiving out this way!", prompting Droopy to note that he might consider coming a day or two ahead against unlikely or otherwise surprise changes in weather.
"And," added I, "we hope to have the classic schtick for Thanksgiving. Turkey and all the trims, even!"
"How delighted that will be!" Droopy remarked in his somewhat myopic tone.
And though it may be another couple weeks ere Thanksgiving arriveth, let's just hope we're not getting too over our heads here in the preparations.

Quick Mac-Fic whump
"Of guilt and forgiveness"
(probably unfinished)
________________________________________
#Mac-Fic-Whum
Macgyver 2016, Mac, Jack, Riles... if I continue maybe others...
disclaimer bla-bla not mine etc. (sadly)
Why? Because daydreaming about the Macwhumpee I am obsessed with at the moment is not enough.... need to share it... but might be... crap... especially 'cause I'm no native speaker.
So here goes nothing:
______________________________________
„Jack, it´s me, Mac…“ he held his hands up in a calming but also defensive way.
„Put the knife down. You won´t hurt me.“ He looked deep into the eyes of his partner hoping he would recognise him.
„Jack…“ his eyes were vacant yet burning with fury. They drugged him, told him lies. It was just a matter of time and the proper dosage until his mind was poisoned, reality distorted and lies turned into truth. He was in there too long. It took them too long to find him and now Jack was changed and didn’t recognise his year-long partner. He was under a disgusting spell that made him wanting to hurt his friends. His family.
„Jack, you´re drugged! You don´t want to hurt me, I know that, you would never hurt anyone of us. Snap out of it!“ Mac took a step forward keeping eye-contact but in the same moment Jack moved, raising the knife, ready to strike, eyes bewildered and fury burning within.
Mac managed to dodge just in time „JACK, STOP!“ The men stood still for a moment, both panting. Mac looked around desperately trying to find something he could take out his much stronger friend without actually hurting him… too much.
The room was empty. It was an interrogation room- like setup but without table and chair. Just some chains attached to one side of the wall and a huge mirror on the other side. A massive steel door that was locked a moment ago now lay unhinged on the dirty cold concrete floor. Ther was nothing he could build or construct. Attacking Jack was no option. He was way too strong for Mac and armed. Running was no option either now that they finally found him, he wouldn´t leave him behind. He´d probably run after him anyway, catch up an who know what he would be capable of in this state of mind.
The rest of the team were a few minutes out, all he could do was talk to him, try to „wake“ him up and of course, survive.
„Mac?“ He heard Riley´s voice in the hall outside and in that mere tenth of a second of distraction he lost eye contact with Jack.
Just as Riley turned yround the corner, stepping on the steel door with a few men as backup Jacks eye twitched and he dashed forward.
From a certain angle it looked like Mac took the big mountain of a partner into his arms welcoming him back to reality and soothing the pain and agony from the past few days in captivity.
From another angle, Riley´s angle, you could see that Jack´s hand was stabbing the knife into Macs ribs, blood soaking through and staining the shirt and flowing out on the attackers hands and drippling onto the floor.
„JACK NO“ she shrieked.
Jack blinked a few times and looked around in confusion. Where was he? Why did Riles look so shocked and his hands were so…sticky. Why did Mac hug him? What was going on. He backed away from Mac and saw a shaft of a blade sticking out from Mac’s chest. Mac didn’t move, held his breath. His eyes tearing up and staring into a void.
Jack looked at his hand smeared with blood and made the connection. He looked up into the kids pale face „Mac…no“ he whispered when his young partner tilted forward and collapsed into his arms. Jack lowered themselves onto the floor in disbelieve: „What have I done?“  He looked at Riley tears flowing from his eyes. „What have I done? Mac, buddy, I am so sorry, Mac, Mac, stay with me, please!“ Mac let out a gasp in pain. Jack started to rock the kid not knowing what to do just holding his freind tight. „MEDICS NOW“ je yelled angry, scared, hurting… Mac touched his hand and looked at him with droopy eyes „J’ck,“ he took a ragged breath „s‘ ‚kay“.
Jack just stared through blurry eyes. He didn´t understand what happened and how he could hurt someone he loved.  And how could Mac say it was okay.
Mac’s grip loosened, his hand slumped lifeless to his side, his head tilting onto Jack´s chest not feeling the shaking of his partner´s panicked breaths, not hearing the desperate cries for help, not tasting the hot tears dripping onto his lips.
Mac was drifting away.

So 5Below often sells old stock from other stores, right? They local one has tons of the little Ghoulia figures that are metallic.... Can’t get rid of them.
Anyway we found a poster of the original 150 Pokemon, and Son actually wanted to hang it in his room, so we bought it.
He’s in the shower scream-singing at himself the pokerap, because of course we watched it while it was available on Netflix.
Tumblr media
But somehow Son watching cartoons I watched as a kid doesn’t feel the same as me growing up on Hannah Barbara cartoons and the like in the early 80′s.
Pokemon is still relevant now, and Huckleberry Hound and Droopy and Dripple really weren’t, then. You know?

At Droopy and Dripple's pizza stand in Sea Isle City (Jersey Shore, that is)
CHESSIE THE AUTOGRAPH HOUND, in her obnoxiousness as is usually deployed towards the Cattanooga Cats: Hi!! Can I have your auto--
DROOPY, seeking to defuse the situation in his own way: Has anyone ever told you you are just plain obnoxious?
[Whereupon Chessie fleeth the scene in panic ... after which--]
DRIPPLE, with pride inherent: That's showing 'em, father! Besides, isn't that Chessie a real jerk?
DROOPY: You said it, my son!

Tom and Jerry Kids Review
Continuing the first Saturday lineup for Fox Kids we have Tom and Jerry Kids, which premiered when Tom and Jerry turned 50 years old. Tom and Jerry is a classic and a master of slapstick. I remember enjoying this show years ago, so let’s see how it is. The show was produced by companies Hanna Barbera and Turner Entertainment, composed by Tom Worrall and Gary Lionelli, and featured the voices of Frank Welker, Charlie Adler, Don Messick, and Dick Gautier.
Tom and Jerry Kids was following a trend at the time where popular characters were children. That trend started with Muppet Babies. This show had 3 segments. The episodes would consist of 2 Tom and Jerry Kids cartoons and sandwiched between them would be either a Droopy and Dripple cartoon or a Spike and Tyke cartoon.
First off are the Tom and Jerry Kids cartoons. These cartoons feature Tom and Jerry....as kids. Tom chases Jerry, but gets hurt in the process. Like the original. However, because of censorship, the slapstick is watered down nowhere near as good as the original Tom and Jerry. Still, sometimes there’s good slapstick and they are enjoyable to watch. Overall, these cartoons are fun, but not even close to the Hanna Barbera Tom and Jerry cartoons.
Next is the Droopy and Dripple cartoons. These cartoons revolve around Droopy and Dripple, who go to many locations and there’s a wolf that’s up to no good and always fails. Now, I really enjoy the MGM Droopy cartoons. However, I am not a fan of Droopy in these cartoons. I just don’t think he or Dripple for that matter are likable, funny, or interesting in these cartoons. Now does that mean I don’t like the Droopy and Dripple cartoons? Not entirely. I really enjoy the wolf character. He’s very entertaining and the animation on him is very expressive. I love how crazy he can be. The slapstick in these cartoons are also very enjoyable and well animated too. The slapstick is honestly better in these cartoons than the Tom and Jerry Kids cartoons honestly. Overall, the Droopy and Dripple cartoons are flawed, but the wolf, the animation and the slapstick keeps it afloat.
Finally, we there’s the Spike and Tyke cartoons. These are my least favorite of the 3 segments in this show. These cartoons follow Spike taking care of Tyke and showing him family and life values. I honestly found them kind of boring. It can be funny sometimes, but the cartoons aren’t that interesting honestly. I also don’t find Spike as interesting or funny as he was in the Hanna Barbera Tom and Jerry cartoons.
Overall, Tom and Jerry Kids was an enjoyable series, but it’s not one of Fox Kids’ best shows. The Spike and Tyke cartoons weren’t that interesting and the Tom and Jerry Kids cartoons and Droopy and Dripple cartoons were flawed, despite being enjoyable. I will give the show a 6/10.
The show was aired on Fox Kids’ Saturday Mornings for the first 3 seasons and the first month of the 4th season and was on Weekdays for the 3rd and 4th season. On Saturday Mornings during its 4th season, it was replaced by a spinoff of this show (we will get to it later) and in the beginning of the 5th season of Fox Kids, it was replaced by a show that was on Saturday Mornings previously, but left that part of Fox Kids to join the Weekday portion (again, we will get to it later).
Rankings
1.Bobby’s World: 7.5/10
2.Zazoo U: 6/10
3.Tom and Jerry Kids: 6/10
I am going to take a break. On Sunday (or Monday) though, I will get back to reviewing with the next cartoon, Attack of the Killer Tomatoes. A show I have never seen in my life.
