Listen. My friends in high school were fucking at that age and the only one who ended up traumatized by it was me because I got abandoned to do the groupwork by myself. I also had to handle at least one of their breakups which was awkward as hell.

its really interesting to me that we now have not one but TWO separate situation of ccs talking to dream and changing their opinion about what is going on. of course we can assume that munchy crew and in the past tommy, tubbo and quackity (bc dont let anyone tell you that whoever drops dream recently do it bc of october, be serious) also believed dream but you know they are close, it always hits differently, sometimes friends stay even if someone is in the wrong. but. nate talked with dream months after that, looks like it was willingly. and he said that he doesn't want to go into details, but the general feeling was very dream positive. he even defended his stance when people on twt got pissed. but i think connor case is way more interesting. long story short for who doesnt remember, after a photo of them hanging around together (since you know they do know each other but are NOT that close), connors fans get really upset over it and he basically told them to fuck off. later, when people were pushy, he started defending himself on stream. but the next day? he came back to the topic and said that he himself contacted dream. and dream answered all his questions. and hes not going to talk about it any more. he said its dreams story to tell. you would not say something like that about the person you believe is a criminal. connor had nothing to gain from it, he could probably gain more hating on dream. but he didnt. and i didnt really think about it too much then but now, when we are in the very similar situation i just wonder. if theres a pattern. if all ccs have to do is to ask (why its easier not to)

Not gonna lie, this very public friendship breakdown is giving me flashbacks of how the friend group I was in in college dissolved. This really speaks of people who never experienced these things younger suddenly going through all the levels of high school pettiness at once. Yes, some of these guys made massive screw ups or betrayed each other (according to certain people). Yes, things should have ended earlier. Yes, there is a power dynamic at play in a lot of this we weren’t aware of. And frankly… WE DID NOT NEED TO KNOW.

This should have been done in a group setting, closed doors, and then people coming away deciding quietly not to work together anymore. I’m disappointed in pretty all of them at this point, but that’s par for the course for a lot of these younger Minecraft creators. (The only reason I see the younger hermits being okay is they have proper mentors, not each other to bounce off of). I wouldn’t be surprised if the Brighton group goes through something similar in a few years.

I really miss the days of Jack, Mark, and Pewds. Where if someone stopped working with someone else for personal reasons, it was treated as if it was a business relationship dissolving. Nothing more. Things were handled privately, without the fans needing to be involved.

I really hope Bad and Sam are doing okay. I hope Sapnap is doing okay. I could see Punz splitting from the entire group with Hannah and Sylvee. Bad has known these guys since they were young teens. Sam I’m not sure. I know him and Punz are much closer (unless, horrifically, Sam is Friend B). But I hope everyone is doing okay regardless.

I give it a good year before things smooth over. Before people realize the way they acted was inappropriate and maybe apologize for what they did and how they handled things.

For now, guys, take care of yourselves. Go watch some other people (the Hermits are great and so is InTheLittleWood and the Empires gang), don’t feel guilt about enjoying these creators (you didn’t know, no one did publicly), and don’t be ashamed of still wanting to enjoy the DSMP. The characters are based on how the creators acted on the server, not in real life. They belong to the fandom as a whole. Go enjoy some fanart and fanfics.

working on a project for my research methods class about grooming and child abuse/exploitation via the internet while all this is going down is just so fucking crazy bc it’s like. hm. reading a UNICEF report about how there were 21 million instances of CSEM reported in 2021 alone. most of which are images/videos of children under 10. okay. this is fucked up. the WHO did a report and found that roughly 1 in 20 american adults were victims of grooming while they were underage. this is a real serious problem. and then i check twitter and people are calling dream a literal actual pedophile for texting a 17 year old a few weeks before her birthday. with no proof of anything sexual happening. and they’re calling for his immediate arrest over this. like i feel like im living in backwards land i dont even know anymore man
