Today me and my co-worker who grew up in Indonesia had a conversation about popular anime of our childhood. And apparently Doraemon was super big in Asia. (But I don’t remember it being a Thing in the Philippines) Now I’m second-guessing myself.

But the anime I grew up watching were like Cedie and Little Princess, and the ones that got big and popular in the PH were Yu Yu Hakusho, Dragonball Z, Ranma 1/2, Naruto, Samurai X, Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, Voltes V, Detective Conan.

I looked it up and apparently Doraemon aired in GMA starting 1999 so maybe I just missed the mark, was no longer the intended audience or just was never a GMA person. (Channel wars) Maybe it’s just the age gap… lol.

Also related but not super relevant: I just found out that people in Indonesia drive on the left side of the road (like Thailand and Australia). And my co-worker just found out the PH drive on the right… we were both so shocked! funny how our experiences affect our expectations.
