idk if you've been asked this before, I'm still new to Tumblr and new to following you so,, sorry if its been done before but well,, how does vtubing treat you now vs how it treated you in the past? have any good stories to share or maybe tips? there isn't many nsfw vtubers (or at least vtubers that say they're explicitly for 18+ audiences) so I'm interested in what you have to share from that community that I personally am new to

Oh dear. I unfortunately don’t know if I’ll be of much help.

To be blunt, Vtubing back when I started was *completely* different vs now when I’m doing it. The Vtuber community used to be so accepting of different identities, so encouraging and helpful to individuals who were just trying to find their way. Now, it’s a popularity contest of who can get the most attention with a Live2D model (because most popular Vtubers revile Vroid), who can get the horniest skeb while also being seiso still (?????) and who can get cancelled the fastest but still stay in the community because the Vtuber community regularly protects, promotes, and uplifts bad actors.

My biggest tip to someone starting out is be yourself, find a crowd you vibe with, and literally just forget everyone else. You are so much better off focusing on you, your friends, and people you have connections with versus what everyone else is doing. It doesn’t matter how many people get new models, new art, etc. because you should always focus on you. Otherwise, you’ll drown in unreasonable, impossible expectations of people who dream of being the next Hololive and have next to no chance of being so.

Currently, I’m on a journey to discover how to get myself recognized for things only I do, and not for things anyone else does by extension. I used to only be known as “so and so’s friend” or “the other half of the collab with (person)” but I’ve lost a lot of friends in Vtubing so I’m not trying to be known that way anymore.

I wanna be known for me - for my content, my outfits, my unique flavor of kink and my opinions on things like consensual behaviors or hot takes on bad American restaurants.

As a stretch goal, I’d love to be appealing enough for people who see me feel the urge to do fanart of my character.

A breath of fresh air, tbh. I do not feel any of the competition here that I struggle with on Twitter—that brings me to break down or cancel streams or consider hiatuses on a near weekly basis.

At the same time, empty. It just feels like I don’t know how to get any reach here. And I’m not sure how to fix that. But I’m enjoying being back; it’s been 5 years and even if my old blog is permablocked, I missed it here.

I've been a long time fan of them both, I know how good they are. (Going toe-to-toe with the big3 in their prime and playing multiple Rolland Garros finals vs the god of clay are no mean feats!) I just hope they get to play at higher level again. But they end up in super difficult draws, the struggle never ends. 😭

barring the Universal Craziness and a couple of personal rough patches I think I can say I've been alright! me and mine are relatively healthy (knock on wood), work has had its ups and downs but every now and again I'm able to re-find a good rhythm that suits me, and some cool projects popping in occassionally. big shoutout to my friends who put up with my demonic behaviour.
