drag me down: stockholm syndrome
synopsis: pham hanni isn't one to admit her feelings nor is she aware of her own feelings. but why does her heart aches watching you laugh with your friends or being physically affectionate with your friends?
words: 2.4k
previous | next
It didn’t take long for Y/N to realize that going out in the middle of the night only in her pajamas would get her sick. A cold didn’t kill anybody but she doesn’t want to risk getting others sick. Along with a fever that is quite high, it would be best to miss one day of school, despite hating it herself.
Hanni did not know that. After the short fight at Y/N’s place, she used her time to reflect and think things through. Why did she want to kiss her, what was in that atmosphere that in two consecutive nights led to her wanting some sort of affection from her rival? Seeing the empty chair next to her, no annoying Park Y/N next to her to annoy her. Shouldn’t it be bliss to have a bit of peace and quiet for once?
“She’s not going to class if that’s what you’re waiting for.” Chaewon showed her text with Y/N to Hanni, her personality being different in SNS. Who would have thought that seeing that had spark some flames in Hanni’s heart.
chaechae: why aren’t you in class?
ynn: im sick, body temp is 38 C with a bit of sniffles
chaechae: hehe sniffles, anyw gws!!! i’ll tell the girls
ynn: ily and thank u, chae
How is it that simple text makes Hanni’s blood boil to the point of possibly wanting to cause harm? This can’t be jealousy. It can’t be.
Within the entire day, where Y/N would sit, some people dared to sit next to Hanni. Most of which tried to copy her work, some were to converse with her, and then there was Jungwon who tried his best to keep the girl company. Neither of those made Hanni smile, laugh, it made her even more annoyed with everyone and everything. Jungwon still stayed after Hanni had told him off politely that he shouldn’t be transferring seats. Only to be rebutted.
“There’s no more seating arrangements, Hanni. Y/N isn’t here to take her seat so its free.” Hanni doesn’t have the energy to fight the guy when Chaewon was literally on a quick video call with Y/N.
“YAH! You told me to call you when it was time for you to take your meds.” She could only faintly see the sickly figure of Y/N who was laying on her bed with her laptop next to her. Would it be bad wanting to steal the phone for her to talk to Y/N?
Chaewon had turned around and placed her phone in front of Hanni, a smile on her face as she removed her earphones. The sickly figure on the screen looked at her with a small smile, her teasing smile that seemed so weak yet full of passion.
“I hope you’re not missing me much, Pham.” She may have looked annoyed but there was a hint of blush on her cheek.
“As if, Park.”
“Mhmm… Jungwon, get out of my seat.” Even if the voice was nasally, Hanni could easily distinguish Y/N’s voice whether it was joking or pissed. Jungwon would still be scared of Y/N either way, hurriedly saying goodbye and moving back to his place.
“Han.”
“Y/N.”
“Give the phone back to Chae.” Even if that was the end of that conversation, Hanni had a small smile on her face as Chaewon scolded Y/N. A bit of pain was still there but at least Hanni had managed to talk to you for a short while.
It didn’t slip past Minji to notice the change in demeanour of her best friend. One that rarely gets annoyed at people, to the point she would rather have her head chopped off if anyone would try to talk to her again. The small smile on her face was as clear as daylight, and watching the entire interaction just made Minji think about what had happened when the pair went out.
Hanni’s thoughts were interrupted by her phone, a message from Y/N. It was already rare to message each other that was not academics related, and upon seeing the message. Hanni’s thoughts had never been such a mess.
park y/n: why is he on my seat?
pham hanni: idk, he sat there bc you weren’t here
park y/n: ok.
Maybe it was the small interaction after half a day without Y/N annoying her or being in the same vicinity as her. Minji noticed the way Hanni had become calmer, no longer annoyed or had a hint of distaste. There’s something Park Y/N has that belongs to Hanni and it makes the gears in Minji’s head turn. Chaewon isn’t aware of anything happening behind her, let alone the burning gaze Hanni is sending her way.
“Oh shit.”
Hanni is oblivious to things, and Minji can easily work with it. A table filled with student council work with nothing but stress for the grad ball, Minji saw it as the perfect opportunity to simply ask questions. Between the two, Minji knows Hanni’s emotions better than anyone else; she’s the one that made Hanni realize her feelings for Jay was nothing but a crush, but with Jungwon - that was a mystery to Minji. She questioned why Hanni said yes to him courting her, or how she rarely spends time and effort with him.
Easing up to the conversation from grad ball preparations to asking Hanni who she’ll go with only to be answered that left Minji confused.
“Not Jungwon, that’s for sure.”
“What? He hasn’t asked you yet?” Hanni shook her head as she cleared the paperwork for the grad ball, finalising the sponsorship with Park Food Corporations.
“Y/N sorta asked me.” Confusion, concern, every other emotion as Minji processes every word that left Hanni’s mouth. How did Y/N even ask her out, or how Hanni agreed to it?
“So… during your date with Y/N?”
“Not a date.”
Minji could only look at Hanni with pure confusion. Being highly aware that both Hanni and Y/N were left alone the other day – according to Ms. Park Jihyo herself, they were even holding hands. Which makes Minji question if they’re dating behind everyone’s back or something else is going on.
Hanni’s mind has been a mess after the dinner at the Park estate. How their parents seem to like the pair together, even being asked to go to the graduation ball with Y/N. What is there to Y/N that makes her blood boil but at the same time miss her and get so irritated with everything else that does not relate to her. Even Jungwon can’t ease her mind, let alone she now sees him as some sort of hindrance to her abilities and goals in the future.
“Earth to Phampham? Helloooo?” Hanni shook her head, looking at the papers in front of her then to Minji who looked at her concerned. Park Food Corporations in her handwriting with the signature of their representative of the company below. All of her thoughts – from when she wakes up to laying in bed staring in the ceiling – all she could think of is Park Y/N.
“You good? You’ve been out of it for a while.” Minji checks her temperature, nothing out of the ordinary, just Hanni spacing out more than usual.
“I’m good, just tired.”
“Whatever you say, phampham. Just know that I’m here if you wanna talk.”
Hanni nodded, watching Minji pack up and leave her alone in the room. Alone with her thoughts. Alone with the scene of Y/N kissing her on repeat. Alone with the thought of Park Y/N.
Hanni slowly became more irritated with the people around her, especially after Y/N had come back and asked Minji if she could sit next to Chaewon. It wasn’t that bad at first, maybe the two had a lot to catch up on while she was gone but she could have asked Hanni regarding assignments and extracurriculars missed and not her friend. Minji taking notice of how Hanni easily snaps and loses focus as she watches Y/N across from her wearing a mask and slowly showing more signs of energy compared to the day she had come back. It was evident that Hanni was being avoided as if she carried the plague once Y/N had come back.
“That’s the third pencil you broke this week – are you sure you’re fine?” Hanni was not ok, whatever she’s feeling or whatever her thoughts of planning a murder and getting away with it. She is definitely not ok.
Even at lunch or when the pair lock the classroom for break, not a single conversation or an utterance of spite or hatred was thrown at Hanni. Silence. Like she doesn’t exist and the goal was to get away from her as soon as possible and it pains her to see Y/N smile at someone else other than her. There’s still the rival aspect but after what had happened, after the kiss, shouldn’t it be addressed that there is more to it than meets the eye.
In the table quite far from them sat Y/N’s circle, seeing the girl laughing at the things being thrown around the table, Hanni wishes she could be the reason for that stupid smile on your face. Watching Chaewon lean on her shoulder and watching the slight public display of affection, her right eye started twitching. Planning a murder in her mind as she watches how affectionate the pair is, she has never noticed how affectionate the girl is not until she realized how much space she occupies in Hanni’s mind (and possibly her heart).
“Do you think if I asked for a bottle of chloroform from our lab technician, I’d be a suspect in a possible murder case?” It was out of the blue, her entire friend group looked at her as if she’s insane, following her line of sight, it made sense that it would be directed at Y/N.
“Let your rival live, I’m just here for the plot of it.” Haerin watches how the table at the back seems to have its life back within the two days that Y/N was gone. It was a given fact that she was the sunshine along with Eunchae within the group and missing that meant silence and no one to tease Hanni to.
“Huh? Since when did Chaewon and Y/N become a couple?” Minji and Hanni looked at Danielle as if she had stated the most absurd thing aside from the possible murder case that Pham Hanni is planning in the back of her mind.
“They’re not!” Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein looked at the pair in shock - aside from Minji and her obvious crush on the feisty girl that she sits next to. It was the fact that Hanni’s reaction regarding the possible relationship was what made everyone lose it. Even she was shocked by what she had said.
“Oh my god – you like Pa-” Hanni covered Hyein’s mouth before she could finish her sentence. Minji assumed that was the case after the whole call incident and the graduation ball date. With the reaction like that, surely Hanni likes Y/N.
“That… explains… a lot.” The group looked at the eldest as the initial shock of the revelation finally sinks in to everyone. Pushing Jungwon away, getting snappy, and it’s all because of a girl.
“Shut it, Minji. That does not explain anything at all.”
“I thought you were straight.”
The group laughed at Haerin’s comment, only for Hanni to smack the cat-like girl.
She doesn’t like Y/N, she’s merely intrigued by the girl that used to sit next to her and always consumes coffee as if her life depends on it. The girl that wears rings all the time and fidgets with it whenever she’s thinking or nervous - or how her uniform is always a mess and it’s her job to fix it while she gets a scolding from her. The girl that lowkey has anime merchandise keychains on her bag and no one would immediately get it unless they watch it. The very same girl that is the daughter to a rich family that she could possibly be the next owner of.
No, she doesn’t like Park Y/N. I’m in denial.
Hanni wonders how she ended up here, sitting in a cafe far from the counter holding a cup of hot chocolate while acting as if she’s reading a book but in reality she is just observing her rival preparing coffee.
Even in the cafe, she would go lengths to avoid Hanni such as making Sakura take her order. She didn’t expect for Hanni to be at the cafe, let alone she never knew that Hanni goes out and not stay in her room to study all day – it’s weirder to see Hanni out of nowhere than seeing a teacher during the weekend during normal day to day things.
“I’m guessing that’s Hanni.” Sakura leans on the counter as she watches the supposed owner of the cafe clean up. Seeing her ears slowly turn a shade of red simply from the mention of the girl’s name and tensing simply by looking at the one of the few customers they have during early in the morning.
“Can’t believe Chae already spilled you the details.”
“In exchange, she did admit to liking Minji. I think that’s a win-win scenario.”
Y/N chuckled at Sakura’s comment, it was deemed fair that Chaewon would know as to why there was a need to switch seats with Minji. In exchange, both of them admitted to liking their seatmates and partners for the project. The difference is that Chaewon isn’t fighting for the attention of her crush against multiple other people; Pham Hanni is still in a somewhat relationship with Jungwon.
Hanni doesn’t know why watching Y/N laughing and being playful with her coworker makes her heart hurt. She has Jungwon but why does her heart scream for the girl that has been ignoring her for almost a week. How she wishes that she could run into her arms and kiss her, but now she’s watching her leaning towards her coworker with ash gray hair that she believes is the sweetest barista but in her eyes it's someone who wants Park Y/N.
“You’re really playing with fire, Y/NN.”
“Unnie, let’s just see if she’ll do something with her feelings,”
Park Y/N, look at what you’ve done to me. Is this what they call jealousy? If it is, Pham Hanni hates it.
She hates that she’s falling for Park Y/N.

My brain latched onto rollerskating with Sun and Moon and then I remembered @muzzlemouths DMD boys and absolutely HAD to draw them living their hay days disco rollerskating wonderful lives~
Lol I tried to get in Moon's pheonix tattoo but it's a little hard to see. I did give him a big old moon medallion hidden under his hand and Sun a Sun belt buckle. I just picture them showing up with mirror bling and it adds a little extra light reflecting all over the place
And yes I have fallen deep into Sun flower petal look sooooo! I'll pop in close ups of the boys under the cut here!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr images said no to finer details on Sun's petals and body - no idea how to remedy that??? So he's just a lil blurry, maybe it's because he's just zooming so fast on the rink

I was doing some re reading and I was curious does dmd Suns “terms of endearment” reflect how he at that moment views/feels about yn?
Like mouse when y/n is sticking their nose where it doesn’t belong and are potential prey to moon, peach when y/n is being sweet/soft for more wholesome fun moments, and doll when sun is seeing y/n as acting/reliving the malls glory days with pretend shopping.
Tumblr media
YEAH YOU'VE GOT IT
The first name Sun gives y/n is "Little Mouse", a term that isn't normally used with customers, but y/n isn't a customer — despite Sun's initial instance otherwise — they're an intruder.
The second time it's used is directly before Sun leaves y/n in the candy shop. This is foreshadowing what happens next, and implying that Sun already suspected that y/n would turn around and go snooping again.
With that last sentence in mind, I'll let you take a guess as to what the last instance of him using that name means.
Peach is his go-to, as is anything floral, and Doll is his programmed script resurfacing - that is, it's the name he used with customers most often while the mall was still alive, and using it with y/n is a form of coping with the loss as much as it is a guilty pleasure.
Now, that meaning changes when Moon says it. The first (and only) time it's used is with a condescending tone and malicious intent. Moon doesn't want to relive the glory days. Here, he's mocking the script he was programmed with and making his message crystal clear; you are not safe with me.

drag me down: adore you
synopsis: pham hanni hates park y/n. that's the story, that's where your relationship is based off. she doesn't hate you - she never did and coming to terms with those feelings have been challenging as she tries to catch up to you.
words: 2.1k

When Hanni first met you, it felt as if her life was being sucked out by your presence. A face that makes anyone swoon over, along with the brains that Hanni envies – who wouldn’t be if the new student is academically gifted. It didn’t help that your teacher seems to know everything about your background as a student let alone how little information you had given.
She never thought of you as a threat before, but with such name and title, the possibility of taking her spot that she has worked so hard for. She despised you from there on out.
Not a single day came where she had to do better, work harder, as she watches you do your own thing. Everything you did made her feel a slow burning sensation in her body. It became hard once you showed interest that was deemed playful, rather than the typical shouting at each other and getting the other mad. You were playfully flirting with her.
Hanni doesn’t remember when it started or how it started but the burning sensation was slowly turning into butterflies in her stomach. She wanted to hate you, the need to hate you and not the idea that whatever she was feeling to take control. That was why she agreed to Jungwon courting her, maybe she just likes the attention you’re giving her and not the possibility of actually taking a liking to you.
She never truly hated you – it was all an act to make sure to not fall for you.
With parents like Hanni’s, everything she is given must be taken with precaution. One that showcases fake smiles, laughter that has been practised to perfection, and the ability to blend in at any given scenario. She simply can’t be reckless, do the things she loves without thinking of the possible consequences, and run straight on to any given scenario.
She can’t risk it.
Then you came.
Everything that was little Ms. Perfect, that was Pham Hanni, was thrown out of the window. She became reckless with starting petty fights with you, annoying you by singing her favourite songs just so she could see your reaction, and just being herself whenever she’s with you. There was something about the little rivalry between the pair that made her believe that she could let loose – she saw perfection in your entire being only to realise there are flaws that she chose to ignore. Still, she always corrects you.
The most reckless thing she has done always involved you. Accusing you of cheating as Sunoo made sure that either one of your reputations would be ruined for his own personal reasons or how she’s become more and more unsure of whether she should act as if she hates you or admit her feelings.
Hanni avoids the kitchen at home as much as possible or a specific area by the parking lot. The scene keeps playing in her head whenever she goes to the kitchen and she stands by the sink. How she’ll stand by that same spot as she watches you walk away from her every time for the past two weeks.
Remembering the way you wrapped your arm around her waist, how soft and smooth your face is, and how your perfume makes her feel intoxicated. It’s just a memory now, one she replays on repeat as if it's a broken track. What if she had kissed you? What if she wasn’t afraid to admit that you occupy her mind so much that it became the reason why she hates you? What if she never said yes to Jungwon courting her?
Would you be dating by now?
Would things change for the better?
Pham Hanni never hated you – she likes you.
That was where Hanni landed as you continue to avoid her, she’s just glad to have you back in your old spot as Chaewon fought you to make sure that her crush would sit next to her rather than hearing you wallow about missing Hanni. It started slow, something about her changed as she became more like the Hanni you grew to adore in private.
Hanni made sure that you would feel loved or that she doesn’t hate you. From the little gifts of sweets on your desk as you always arrive late, or the little notes in your notebook after lunch, or how Hanni has slowly sat closer to you. It has become harder to avoid the girl.
“Does anyone want candies?” Chaewon looked at you as if you’re crazy, handing her a piece of candy that Hanni had given you in front of her. Watching as you gave your friends the sweets you had gotten that day as if you were truly insane.
To them it was Hanni’s attempt to make things better, avoid any bad blood before college but things have become difficult on your end. Chaewon admitted that you weren’t even talking to Hanni in your clubs together, debate club became boring without rebuttals coming from the pair, or how the student council doesn’t have their honorary member that would mess with Hanni to keep things light.
Even her little attempts of talking to you or trying to be more open such as trying to intertwine your pinkies as you fidget with your ring. Slowly showing signs in your interests and even cheering you on during practice as you question why she’s not in the student council office finalising the paperwork needed for the ball.
“Didn’t know Hanni is your girlfriend?” In the bleachers was Hanni waving at you with the biggest smile on her face as you looked confused at her and questioned why she suddenly acts like she doesn’t hate your guts and wanted to kick you on multiple occasions.
“Yunjin, what the actual fuck?”
“What? You can’t keep avoiding her.”
That was the problem, at any given opportunity you’re running away from Hanni. Even after she left an energy drink in your locker with a note that makes you cringe and run away because this is not the same Pham Hanni from years ago that accused you of cheating and annoys you whenever and however. She hates how you’re slowly fixing your uniform so as to not let her fix it or be near her in any way despite being seatmates and partners in your project. Even when she visits the cafe, you act like you’re taking a break as you hide in the storage room where you’re freezing to death and hope that she leaves once you come out. She doesn’t.
Hanni is now frustrated at you as if everything that had happened was thrown out the window and she doesn’t understand why you’re like that. She just watches you from afar and even if you’re close it still feels so far from reach that you keep on running away and avoiding the issue that
Hanni likes you. You like her.
It didn’t help that Jungwon took this opportunity to talk to her more. Hanni could only observe the way your hands would close tightly, scoffing at every single pick up line Jungwon would say and how he’s too close to your liking. She doesn’t understand why you’re giving such reactions like that when you’ve been avoiding her all this time.
“I’ve been meaning to ask you something, Hanni.” Hanni was zoning out as she watches you clearly within earshot slowly tensing by Jungwon that was too close to comfort and there was nothing you could do.
“Will you go to the grad ball with me?” Everything moved fast, Hanni rejecting Jungwon’s offer as Y/N merely sat there processing what she had heard. Silence, you could only hear your heart racing as you turn around to face the two, hoping it isn’t a dream.
“I’m sorry, what?”
“I said no. This whole courting thing? I'm done. I’m sorry but I just don’t see a future with you.” Hanni was free, Jungwon is no longer in the picture of their so-called relationship. Your heart could only beat faster as you watched Hanni walk away.
Everything moved fast as Hanni packed her stuff and left Jungwon standing like an idiot and Y/N running after her as everyone watched it unfold. Chaewon could only smile at her friend who finally is doing something with her feelings and not avoiding the girl who has been occupying her heart since they had first met.
Running away seemed like the only option you had once in front of Hanni – funny how you ran to talk to her only to keep running and avoiding her.
You hate how your heart beats faster when she’s near.
She hates that you’re making her insane by deflecting the issue.
She chases you. Slowly reaching for your hoodie as you run away and towards somewhere that she couldn’t find you. The perks of being a soccer player was that you’re fast but you learned never to underestimate Hanni, not when you’ve reached a dead end and she’s in front of you.
Standing close to you, holding your hoodie and pulling on it harshly just so you won’t run away from her. When was the last time you were this close to her? When was the last time you smelled her perfume and looked at her eyes without looking away and thinking you don’t deserve to be in the same proximity as her? When did Pham Hanni start to look at you the same way you’ve been looking at her for years?
“I’m tired of your games, Park.” Frustrated. She’s frustrated at you and who wouldn’t when her efforts are being thrown out of the window. Looking at her eyes that are on the brink of letting the tears fall as her hold on your hoodie slowly loosens. Weeks of avoiding each other and there you simply stand.
Hanni caresses your cheek, you don’t know when the tears start to flow as her hands slowly turn into fist and hit you as she lets her frustration out. You simply let her as she progressively hits you harder only to stop and cry onto your hoodie. Holding her at an abandoned hallway where she cries in your arms whispering profanities your way and letting everything out.
“I miss your stupid little banters. I miss your messed up uniform. I miss how you would correct me in the debate club. I miss how you would subtly let me borrow your hoodie without me asking. I miss your scent or how soft your hand is and how you hold onto me like what you’re doing right now. I hate that I miss you.”
“I missed you too, Pham.” The thing with Hanni, she’s perfect – ask anyone and they’ll agree. It’s different if they ask you, knowing her flaws and accepting her as she is despite the fact that she has been acting all these years as the Ms. Perfect student.
Pham Hanni is just like you – in a world where everyone’s eyes are on you, there is no choice but to act like someone you aren’t.
“I hate you, Y/N.”
“I hate you too, Hanni.”
At the end of the hallway where you two stood, Hanni doesn’t remember how it came to this. She’s holding onto you as you caress her back to calm her down and whispering sweet nothings as things settle between you two.
“I hate that I’m starting to fall for you, Park.” Hanni hears you laughing and how she missed being the reason for that. She snuggles deeper onto you as hold onto her tightly letting your actions do the talking.
“I’m here to catch you, Pham.”
You made sure that Hanni heard you clearly as you stood there in silence. Even teasing you as she tucked your hair behind your ear to see how red they were.
“Your ears are so red.”
“Shut up.”
Even when the bell rang all you could do was walk back together and act as if Hanni didn’t pour her heart out to you. She finally sits closer to you as the rebuttals start coming back with a smile on your face as you compare scores and discuss lessons as if you didn’t avoid her for an entire month.
“Hm.. any music recommendation?” You looked at Hanni while she finalised the paperwork at the student council office.
“You’re gonna hate me for recommending Harry Styles.”
“I won’t. I never did.”
As you two work together in your own things, with the comfort of the student council office with Adore You playing softly in the background. Hanni looks at you as she sings the chorus without you knowing it’s directed at you.
“Just let me adore you.”

drag me down: little white lies
synopsis: hanni was losing it, her thoughts being a mess and being occupied by one person only, park yn.
warning/s: pining for the other, confrontation
words: 3.3k
previous | next
Hanni was out of it.
It all started with the way her parents are so chill and immediately took a liking towards YN was the questionable part but its the vague answers that YN gave made it worse. Hanni could only find out about her parents’ field of work, compared to her own parents, they are much more capable than she expected.
Her parents knew of her competition and rivalry with YN so it was no surprise that she was interrogated, asking about her future and what is there she wishes to do. Keeping note of every single thing YN mentions, loving the way she speaks so gently as it gives comfort, the complete opposite of when they’re in class.
YN describes how she sees her future, clearly she would be working with her parents, probably a business major and from there she can go to law school if she chooses to. How she describes her family is vague, avoiding it completely, but the way she talks about her little sister with a shy smile perfectly sees that this is a side of YN that Hanni has never seen. Hanni’s parents vividly sees YN as a threat but also the perfect partner for their daughter because who wouldn’t swoon over the girl when based on their small interaction there is something else underlying waiting to be revealed. YN shows great respect to her parents, corrects them in a way that wouldn't be taken as offensive, and she discreetly helps Hanni.
“Speaking of university, are you planning on staying in Korea or going out of the country?” Hanni is expecting the worst, somewhere that avoids her. The possibility of YN having plans without her is inevitable, After what she pulled before, mind racing, palms sweaty, and her heart beating out of her chest. She was not expecting YN’s answer.
“I might stay but my parents’ wishes for me to go to an Ivy school.” YN has an option, a choice, Hanni on the other hand must work with what she is provided with. Ivy League schools are out of it, despite it being a great opportunity, she can’t risk it.
Fate plays unfairly sometimes.
The conversation went on as YN tried her best to let Hanni’s parents know that it would be alright if she washes the dishes. In the end, Hanni was the one doing it with YN helping her dry and store everything.
“Ivy League, huh?” It feels bittersweet, the possibility of either of the pair being a constant in their future.
“Yeah, my mom studied there.” Hanni could only nod, trying her best to slow down time in any way because she wants this to last a little longer.
“I guess once we graduate, that’s the end?”
“Don’t go all soft on me now, Pham. You’re supposed to hate my guts, remember.”
It is bittersweet, because as much as they both hate each other,  and throw spiteful words, or do better than the other, there is the sense of what if. As YN placed the kitchen towel back to its respective hook, Hanni could only look intently, even in her dishevelled hair, a bit of sweat dripping from the side of her face, and cheeks tinted from the heat.
Hanni doesn’t know what came over her, holding YN’s chin and wiping her face with her handkerchief that she keeps all the time. The urge to hold Hanni by her waist was there, to pull her close and keep her within arm’s reach.
“Didn’t expect you to be the type to sweat easily, Park.”
“Pham… you’re too close.”
As Hanni was about to move away and blushing at the comment, YN was quick to move to hold the girl by the waist. A small space, if someone were to push either one, they would definitely kiss. On their own accord, Hanni and YN moved closer and closer, feeling each other’s breath. YN looked at Hanni’s eyes to her lips and back, only for a nod as a confirmation.
It won’t be easy to achieve one’s desire. YN’s phone started ringing which broke the pair’s trance on each other. Only to push the other away. Fumbling to get her phone, YN saw her mother’s contact name and immediately answered it. Hanni walked away, blushing even more than she expected. We almost kissed.
“My ride is already here.”
“I-I’ll walk you out.” Hanni looked out of their house to see a car and a man in a suit waiting. YN looked at the girl, clearly frustrated and in dire need to scream profanities in her pillow at home.
Hanni and YN walked in silence, standing outside the front door. Hanni was avoiding YN’s gaze as YN tried her best to make the girl look at her.
“I’ll see you tomorrow.”
“I- uhm- yeah.” The hesitancy in her voice, the way she wanted to confront YN with everything, ask her why she did it. Park YN is making her question everything that she knows.
“Pham, you can choose to forget it and act like it didn’t happen.” Hanni held onto YN’s wrist, stopping the taller girl from leaving right away. Only to be surprised by YN putting her hand on top of Hanni’s. She wanted her to do it, hold her by the waist and kiss her goodbye.
“Thank you for the dinner and your time.” She could only watch YN walk away, planning to deal with everything to come the following day. In which YN devised a plan to fix all misunderstandings for their project. A study session.
Clearly, there was something going on between the pair, people took notice, the hatred was still there but so was another emotion no one can pinpoint.
One thing for certain was that Hanni changed.
She took notice of every little thing and it makes her wonder why she despises the girl so much. Did YN forget everything she did to her during their dinner? What is there to hate when everything she does says a lot to only make one admire her?
The fact that YN is the reason for her distractions was the very same reason why she despises the girl. Whatever feelings these are, she can’t let it control her, let alone why does she need to observe the girl who sits next to her? She could probably write the project from the knowledge and facts she knows of YN. Yet she couldn’t write anything, only the little habits that YN does.
How could she do this when YN is probably almost done with her part in the project. Maybe it was all a scheme to make me fall behind.
It wasn’t that, because ever since she became distracted, YN was there to take care of her.
“Fact check that before we start the debate, Pham.” Hanni looked at her with so much confusion only to realize her claims were a bit based on her opinion. When did YN look pretty even when she just finished her soccer training? She’s all clean from the shower with her hair still drenched, her perfume is stronger than before.
“You’re off by a year.” Even in History class, Hanni was too distracted. YN is a bit closer than before, their hands almost touching. She wants to hold it, wondering how soft it feels.
“Hanni, it’s still not balanced.” The way YN’s slender arms wrap around Hanni’s waist as she points out her mistake in the chemical equation on the whiteboard at the student council office. It’s making Hanni’s brain short circuit as her heart beats out of her chest with how fast it is. She wants to turn around and smash their lips together but YN moves away before she could.
“N-no, it’s balanced.”
“Oxygen should be 19, not 17.” It was a problem already when they both agreed to study together after her short visit in the Pham Household. YN took notice of Hanni losing focus the past few days but this surely was concerning, one of which would cause damage for the pair.
“I think that’s enough for science, we can work on our english project.” Hanni placed the marker down as YN patted the spot in front of her, to which she obliged. So far, YN has written a lot and Hanni is left in the dark with the amount of information she is lacking in. One way to find more about her partner, ask her questions.
“Could you tell me about yourself?” YN placed her pen down, looking intently at Hanni.
“Ok… My full name is Park YN, born on __/ __, 2004. I have a little sister who is 10 years younger than me. Favorite drink is iced americano-”
“You’re really gonna die early from that.” YN laughed at Hanni’s comment and shook her head as she continued.
Hanni enjoys YN talking longer than she usually does, the reasons as to why she likes certain things and how much she adores her sister. The way she smiles whenever she mentions the things she enjoys, or how YN scrunches her nose as she describes how there are certain icks she cannot deal with. Hanni writes everything in her small notepad along with other things she’s written about YN.
She feels admiration towards the girl in front of her, and despises how she acts as if nothing happened the other day. Hanni vividly remembers the way YN held her, what her perfume smells, and how intently she looked at her. She hates that she doesn’t know what she feels anymore. Does she hate YN? Will they finally fix things and be civilized?
She didn’t want this to end, their time together in private where no one knows what is happening or what they’re saying. It felt as if they've been friends for years, that there is no rivalry between the two. YN fell silent as she looked at the time, then at Hanni who was scrunching her nose and playing with her pen that’s designed as a sprout.
“It’s getting a bit late, you want to continue this at my place?”
“And you say I move fast, Park.”
“Ok, fine, don’t.”
YN jokingly packed her stuff with Hanni frantically stopping her and agreeing to the sudden invite. One thing YN understood is that it is better to show Hanni everything rather than telling her the things she needs to know. Much so, her actions speak louder than words.
“No rush, I’ll bring you home if it gets too late.”
As Hanni packed her stuff, YN sent a quick message to her parents regarding inviting the girl to her home. Surprisingly, they allowed it, as they were at home to finally put a face to the girl their daughter keeps mentioning.
The pair walked out of campus together, a bit of tension that even a knife couldn’t cut it. As Hanni slowly and subtly tries to reach for YN’s hand, just to have a feel of what it's like. Only for Ms. Park Jihyo, to stop the pair.
“YN, Hanni, quite the sight we have here. Is your little rivalry over?” Neither one could answer the query, because there is still the banters, proving to the other who’s better, and the smug faces if either one was victorious.
“Hyo-unnie, can you  not?”
“Unnie?!” Hanni looked at the two Parks, there was a bit of similarity but she was not expecting the sudden information and reveal.
“Just teasing, couz. I heard aunt and uncle are home?”
Whatever conversation the cousins had, Hanni’s thoughts drifted away as she looked at YN’s free hand that was fidgeting with her ring, either she’s thinking or anxious. She learned that in order to stop those habits, one that YN mentioned earlier she wishes to stop doing, was to hold them.
Slowly reaching for YN’s hand as Jihyo eyed the interaction, a small smile appeared on her face once Hanni successfully did it. YN’s shoulders slowly slump down, squeezing Hanni’s hand, copying Jihyo’s smile as their conversation continued. YN’s hand is soft and smooth, like she puts lotion on it every night and after she showers.
“I’ll get going now, you lovebirds better get home safely.” Jihyo wiggled her eyebrows as she ran to her car where Nayeon was recording everything on her phone. Makes them think who the students actually are when their English teacher and Prefect of Discipline act like teenagers.
“Lovebirds?” It finally registered to YN that she’s been holding Hanni’s hand the entire time and that she just let it happen. Her brain short circuited as she saw her bodyguard waving at them and teasing YN by holding his own hands.
Hanni heard YN curse, a rare occurrence. She’s irritated… how the fuck does she still look cool?
“We’ll discuss this.” YN pointed at their intertwined hands and back at Hanni. “Later, understood?”
Hanni nodded, she hasn’t seen YN act like that before, well, once. It was during their soccer practice and with her being captain, it’s expected that she puts in the best performance and takes care of the team. Her eyebrow scrunched, a scowl on her face, and a clenched fist. This time, no one decided to let go as they walked towards the car, only when they settled down did they let go.
They could only look through the window, avoiding each other’s gaze, and the slow change in scenery as an estate with the name Park on the very gates appeared. An entire village just filled with different households, something one could see in Crazy Rich Asians. What took Hanni by surprise is the fact that by the very end of the estate, a mansion greets them and everything seemed to slow down as the car stopped at the very front gates of the place. A butler came rushing down, bowing to them, she looked at YN who had a sheepish shy smile.
Walking inside the place makes Hanni stop and just observe, it was still minimalist but the amount of natural light that could come in that oversees their backyard, or how there are two stairs going to the upper floor. Everything screamed crazy rich asians. Her thoughts were interrupted by the sound of fast footsteps as YN entered, a little girl holding a book crashed into her rival (or crush).
“Unnie! Mom bought me a new book from their trip. LOOK! LOOK!” This is the image no one sees, the way YN talks to her sister discussing the new book she got while Hanni took note of the interaction.
“Hyejoo, greet your sister’s visitor.” From the open kitchen island, there stood YN’s parents, one that Hanni has seen on multiple news and articles. The most successful couple within the food industry, Park Taemoo and Park Youngseo, CEO and CCO of Park Food Corporations. A big smile on YN’s face as she bowed to her parents, Hanni then followed.
“Y-you’re t-the daughter of-” Hanni kept stuttering as she whispered her revelation to YN, who would only nod at the girl. The pair walked into the kitchen, YN kissing her parents’ cheek as a greeting before standing next to Hanni.
“Ma, pa, this is Pham Hanni.” Hanni bowed a full 90 degrees which caught YN by surprise, still not used to this type of reaction when she brought her group of friends to her home the first time.
“Finally, a face to the name. You know, YN mentions you a lot.” The look of panic was evident on YN’s face from her mother’s comment that she looked to her father for help which she was grateful for.
“YN, why not go to your room first, or tour Hanni around while we prepare dinner? Yeah?” Mr. Park whispered to his wife as to why he had to cut the conversation short as they watched the pair walk around the house, to which they were probably discussing the revelation that Hanni discovered.
“My, my, amor. Our little pumpkin is growing up.”
“Mon cheri, I suggest we better work on dinner a bit faster. We have matters to discuss.”
— — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — —
It was hard keeping track of the entire place when there’s a bunch of rooms fit for entertainment, collectibles, and work. Hanni is still thinking of YN’s parents, recalling an article explaining how the couple chooses to hide the names of their children for their safety. Here she is, looking at the eldest daughter holding the hand of her little sister as they reach the end of the hall for their respective rooms. Hyejoo, who admires her sister a lot but also speaks multiple languages, more than Hanni could, goes into her room after YN explains that she needs to have a talk with her visitor and after dinner then they could play. She’s adorable.
In the room opposite of Hyejoo was YN’s, it wasn’t pink and bright like her sister’s but it clearly showcases everything that screams YN. A shelf that’s filled with nendroids from a specific anime that Hanni is not familiar with, a bunch of legos architect, and from the looks of it, her parents bought her two more sets. Another shelf filled with books and photo albums, a study table with another nendroid placed neatly on top of her notebooks, and her bed is neat with a deep shade of blue and white as its aesthetic.
“Did not expect you to be a fan of anime.”
“Why did you hold my hand?”
Flabbergasted, confused, and anxious, the top three emotions that Hanni is feeling as YN stepped closer to her.
“I thought we agreed that what happened last week was nothing, Pham.”
“You don’t think I wanted that?” Standing closely, YN was fidgeting, Hanni looking directly into her eyes. Some underlying feelings, something is keeping those two from saying what they want.
“You’re insufferable.”
A lie, a little white lie, because why say those hateful words when their hands are intertwined, moving closer and closer to each other, leaving no space for God. All they needed was one push, clear everything in their minds and admit that they don’t hate each other.
“You won’t do it? Fine, I’ll do it.” Hanni wrapped her free hand around YN’s neck, ready to pull her in, praying to God no one comes in and ruins the moment. Before she could do it, she felt soft lips by the corner of her lips.
“And I’m insufferable?”
“I’m not just someone you can toy with, Hanni. You have someone courting you, remember?”
How could she forget? Well, for the fact that YN has been occupying her mind for who knows how long, which will definitely last longer as they almost kissed. Jungwon is the least of her worries, she wonders what is running inside YN’s mind, what is making her fall for the tall girl who is secretly a part of the 1% with incredible skills and intelligence.
“Sort everything out on your own, Pham Hanni. The last thing either of us want is another set of drama.”
If the drama revolves around YN, she doesn’t know whether to play it safe or risk it just to find out.
— — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — —
Luckily, dinner wasn’t awkward at all. The Parks are quite talkative compared to the eldest who merely joined in on the conversation, observing the girl sitting next to her. They’ve discussed everything YN has asked about Hanni for her project, even their business, and the grad ball which took the girl by surprise to find out they were the one sponsoring the event.
“We don’t ask for much, Hanni. Just one-”
“Two things, actually.”
The conditions were simple, one of which is that Hanni applies for an Ivy League school along with YN, just for the experience, and the other one… left her confused.
“Let YN take you to the grad ball, no other circumstances, because even if we sponsor the event and her friends try to talk her into it, she won’t attend.”
“I’m sorry but why me?” Her parents look at YN as she shakes her head, never to mention the things she’s said regarding the girl next to her that leaves her nothing but butterflies in her stomach, a headache, and her chest hurting from how fast her heart beats.
“You seem to have some sort of bond with her unlike the others.”
Now, YN was out of it.

drag me down: fool for you
synopsis: you've seen it all, from family problems to being accused of cheating, and bullying... what more can you handle when the girl you love hates your guts?
warning/s: bullying, parental absence, honestly just full on perspective of y/n.
words: 1.8k

You’ve seen it all.
The fact that your own distant relatives fight for the claims of your family’s hard work, the way your parents are always gone and going on business trips, or the very fact that the girl you like hates your guts.
Your parents decided that it would be safe never to expose you and your sister to the public unless you choose to partake in the family business. That conversation has not seen the light of day, and you choose to keep it that way. The other reason is that your very own relatives try to drag your name down. Jealousy, hunger for power, and mostly greed, was the driving factor.
Although given the circumstances, all you could do is understand your parents. The rare occurrences that they’re at home, giving you gifts from their travels ranging from books to puzzles, up until when you hit highschool they settled on giving you practical gifts, one that is the best of the best. That doesn’t mean your request for books regarding the business and law of each country they visit is looked upon. Somehow those interests made your parents provide even more than what you requested, a few lego sets so as to not make it feel as if you’re slowly becoming an adult.
It was compensation for missing your childhood years, holidays spent alone in the gigantic mansion you call home, watching home alone and wishing to do the same thing as Kevin. The definition of family is blurry when you never felt it with your own, yet you’re glad Jihyo’s family came through. All of the relatives residing within the village have collectively helped to raise you, from playing games, experiencing grazing your knee on the floor from playing chase with your cousins, and opening gifts on christmas day. Forever grateful for your relatives that wishes you nothing but peace and safety.
At the age of 10, it was as if your prayers were heard, your mother was pregnant with Hyejoo. For two years, the Parks were complete, business trips were handled by their right hand man, home cooked meals when you come home from school, and them actually helping you with your homeworks. It was bliss, you felt it being a true family, even being scolded made it feel like the real deal. Around the same time, a girl in your class had become your friend.
With the absence of your parents, it was a common topic going around that you were abandoned, an orphan, which led to bullies. Some days, it was just a few words thrown at you, but it was the first that you were cornered, the mischievous look, the scissors in their hands. Who knew grade schoolers could be dangerous. That was until a girl around your age alerted the closest teacher there was seeing the scenario slowly unfold. Luckily there was no harm done to you or else your parents would have sued the group of kids’ parents. The girl in front of you offered her hand, a soft smile yet worry was evident in her face.
“Hi. I’m Seol Yoona. What’s your name?” It was the first time you’ve heard her speak, despite sitting next to each other for days.
“Uh… my name is Park YN.” Sullyoon, your best friend, the first person you knew you could trust with your life. For years, you were together, she was keeping you safe as you provided the extra protection that is your bodyguard.
High school started, things turned for the worst, Hyejoo grew up with no parental figure, Sullyoon transferred schools, and you’re back to being alone. Weird part of it all, that was when you started showing interest in business, specifically in cafes. First year of high school consisted of doing extracurriculars, such as debate club, soccer; and going to Blueming cafe to work on brewing, baking, and the business aspect of it all. It was peace, Hyejoo kept you company at home, letting your inner child out as you took care of her.
There was something missing, a conversation you had with Jihyo. Sullyoon wasn’t there to keep you company, even if she had free time, she would stay at your place and play with Hyejoo, updating you on life. Jihyo cared for you so deeply that she was willing to help you with your dilemma without you knowing how it happened.
You never knew how Jihyo managed to convince your parents to let you transfer schools, but clearly she was doing some investigation on the students in your batch. In your second year of high school, you met Chaewon on your first day. She was older than you, a bit feisty, but she was fun to be with as you conversed about your experience in your old school. Slowly, you met Yunjin, Chaewon’s best friend and partner in mischief, the first friend you met who can speak english. Lastly was Kazuha and Eunchae, you were invited to lunch by Yunji. You were glad that orientation gave you a chance to spend your first week with the four.
Although you sometimes visited cafe to hone your brewing and latte art skills, that was where you met Sakura. Aside from Sullyoon, she was the second person who knew of your family, it’s the least she could do while studying and doing part-time in a foreign country. That was how your small circle came to be, Sullyoon was your classmate again, gained new friends you could trust without it being a connection from your parents.
Once the actual classes started for your new school, your eyes laid upon the most beautiful girl you’ve seen aside from your friends, she had your attention.
Pham Hanni, a pretty name for a pretty girl.
Luckily for you, Park and Pham weren’t that far off. Despite introducing yourself already in front of the class, you still did it. They did say first impressions leave an impact.
“Hi, I’m Park Y/N.”
“Pham Hanni.”
You believed that things could get better, that Pham Hanni could be your friend and someone you could trust. She’s pretty, smart, and immediately caught your heart. Messing with her was fun, from lowkey trying to one up her, joining her extracurriculars just to be close to her, and always sitting next to her despite it having no seating arrangements. For you, it was all fun and games with a hint of flirtatious banter because Pham Hanni has you wrapped around her finger.
Things couldn’t get any better but all hopes and dreams were shattered from a single rumour, a single accusation, all of it coming from her mouth.
“Just admit it, Y/N! YOU CHEATED!” Does she hate you that much to accuse you of such things? It’s not in your character to cheat or anything that would possibly bring your name down, despite the absence of your parents, you had a good upbringing. But this accusation was a bit too much for you.
Weeks of multiple discussions with the Prefect of Discipline and the Principal. Only led to one conclusion, you were innocent as to who planted the information, it was still left for discussion. From there on, you avoided her at all cost, sure sitting next to her isn’t completely avoiding her but you had no other choice. If it weren’t for the rumours you heard of people planning on bullying Hanni or the fact someone had already done it, you would have continued to ignore her.
Hanni never knew what could have happened if you didn’t talk to her.
Hanni never knew of your feelings since your first meeting.
Hanni never knew that you’ve fallen for her.
Even when she clearly showed her distaste for you, or how little she cares, somehow you still managed to stay and celebrate every time you two would hit a milestone. In every card you had given her, each states your appreciation for the girl, and hints of your feelings. There were no clear signs that she had read it but it was better to assume she hadn't.
So, you were out of it when Hanni showed signs of possibly reciprocating your feelings. The sudden call at 3 in the morning to tell Sullyoon everything, asking her to come over (to which she agreed only if you were going to pick her up). One of the little things you’re grateful for is that your parents had put you to driving school as soon as possible.
“You seriously better have a good explanation as to why we’re going out this late.” Sullyoon will always be your best friend, the only person you trust the most. Taking a sip of your hot chocolate as the climate slowly becomes colder as the year comes to an end, you could only look at Sullyoon with sadness in your eyes.
“I like Hanni.”
“Ok, this is indeed a good explanation. What happened? Are you ok?”
Clearly, you weren’t. Pham Hanni occupied your mind and heart and it's getting concerning to the point where you do feel the pain whenever she talks to Jungwon. The jealousy and knowing damn well that you don’t have the right to feel that way. So, no, you’re not ok.
Sullyoon listened to your rant, to how you’ve liked Hanni since sophomore year, so stopping a possible bullying from happening, to giving her letters in your anniversaries, and from the pain of seeing her with Jungwon. By the time you’re done, there are tears in your eyes as your hot chocolate is forgotten and you’re shivering from the cold.
“All this time, you never hated her?” You shook your head, not a single ounce of grudge or hatred for Hanni was in your blood.
“Even after being accused of cheating?”
“Sunoo already got his punishment for that, he was just intimidated by me taking his spot.”
Your best friend was aware of the rumours but you confirmed everything to her. Spilling your guts as if you have no other choice, growing tired of lying and keeping those feelings to yourself. She could only understand the situation; Sunoo had planted the idea that maybe the reason you transferred was because you cheated on your exams and got caught to the point supervision was needed. It pained Sullyoon to hear that, to be blamed for something she knows you would never do.
“Hanni almost got bullied because of that, if she got hurt then… there’s no one else to blame but myself.”
Years of bottled up emotions are finally out in the open, a conversation with your best friend and the moon. And maybe you were indeed a fool, falling for someone who showed little to no interest until the night before…
You were really out of it as Hanni continued to fill your thoughts and heart.

drag me down: little things

The news of the top two students being paired together had reached almost every student as soon as Ms. Im dismissed the class. YN isn’t one to be gossiped about, most students talk about Hanni and her possible relationships but no one knew YN’s life outside of school. Only a handful of people did and it was her friends.
“Well, well, well, look who got paired with Ms. Top student.” Yunjin loved to tease YN about Hanni, she theorized that they secretly love each other but won’t admit it because their pride is higher than Mt. Everest.
“The look of despair was so evident, I almost felt bad.” Chaewon was the first people YN met as the girl had been part of the student council during their second year. From there, either YN or her were the victims of the group's bullying.
“Are you going to work on it right away?” There’s always a mediator in the group and when it's at school, that would be Kazuha. She’s considered as the quiet yet scary friend but everyone loves her, especially when YN has a soft spot for her.
“Sakura-unnie is asking if you’ll be there tomorrow.” Eunchae, the youngest and most devious child, when there is chaos, the possibility of her starting it isn’t that low. Lastly, the other mother of the group who works part-time at one of the Park’s cafes was Sakura, whom YN met on her first day trying to learn latte art.
“I’ll take my leave tomorrow, so I’ll be there today.” When YN meant only a handful of people know about her life, she literally meant only 6 people. The Parks are very private, only a limited knowledge of their lives outside of business, her parents made sure that their children’s safety and privacy was their number one priority. So secretive that the public only knew that they have two children, neither gender being specified.
YN never trusted people that easily but she was clearly playful, independent, and responsible. A lot of people trusted her, similarly even Hanni took notice of it, how in her first year in a new environment and somehow a lot of people let their walls down. She wonders how when she never heard anything about YN’s personal life, as if it were non-existent. Hanni was left in the dark as she watched her rival walk home with her group, a smile on YN’s face as Yunjin teases Chaewon and Kazuha trying to stop them.
“Stop staring, she might melt.” Minji followed Hanni’s line of sight, it was going to be a topic later in their group.
“Have you wondered what YN is like outside of school?” It threw Minji off, Hanni, THE PHAM HANNI, asking about Park YN? There was only limited information about the girl, there were rumours going around that YN came from a wealthy family, a daughter of a mafia boss, a bunch of misinformation. Although there was one thing that people have concluded was that YN really came from a rich family, a confirmation was given by Ms. Park Jihyo, the prefect of discipline conversing with YN. The sole reason why YN transferred was due to being under the supervision of her cousin who recommended it to her aunt and uncle, no one knew they were related and both of them agreed to keep it that way.
“You seriously need to talk to her about that. No one aside from her group knows anything about her life.” Haerin surprised the pair as Danielle and Hyein joined them in front of the campus gate. What was there in her rival’s life that makes her keep everything in secret.
— — — — — — — — — — — — — — — —
The following day, Hanni was much more observant of YN. She’s aware of YN smelling like coffee beans and a hint of vanilla, but she never noticed what she drinks when she arrives at class. The ice cold cup of americano and a paper bag with some sort of pastry but it was flat, most likely a cookie. Blueming Cafe? From what I know that’s under Park Food Corporations.
“You’ll have heart problems by the time you’re 30.” She wasn’t even sure why she said that, it wasn’t like she cared. All she did was cause the other issues with their bantering.
“Acting like you care, classic.” There was a difference in YN’s tone, or maybe Hanni is overanalyzing everything there is towards her rival.
YN took notice of Hanni’s sudden shift, like she was hyper aware of her surroundings. Setting her stuff down along with her snack and coffee to get her through the day, she got a whiff of Hanni’s perfume. A hint of lavender, a bit of praline, and musk… it wasn’t that bad, she liked it. Perfectly describes if Hanni was a perfume, aside from that Hanni was also wearing her hair up, a bit dishevelled being held by a clamp and a tired smile on her face. When did she start using a clamp?
“Wearing perfume, are you trying to seduce me, Pham?” Hanni rolled her eyes, taking back how the girl next to her smells nicely and comforting.
“That’s such a weird assumption, Park. Not in a thousand years will I try to persuade you.” A straight shot through the heart, despite YN teasingly flirting with Hanni all these years, she felt a slight pang in her chest. There is a certain feeling that YN cannot describe with Hanni, not wanting to explore it any further. Only a few months till graduation, I can endure it.
First half of the day, there wasn’t much of a problem between the pair. Both keeping to themselves but Hanni took notice how YN would spin her pen whenever she’s not taking notes. How slim her fingers are and the amount of rings she has, perfectly accenting her cool tone paired with silver minimalist rings. Slowly, she noticed how her uniform may look neat but clearly her tie was always loose, the top of her blouse unbuttoned, and a hoodie on top of it all or the fact she never wears skirts, like the school gave her a free pass to wear pants. Hanni didn’t realize how long she’s been staring, somehow everything about YN’s style fits perfectly.
“Pham… stop staring and listen.” YN had slowly pushed Hanni’s face back to the board where their teacher had their back facing the class. From that simple action, she felt her face heat up, palms a bit sweating, and her heartbeat racing. She was saved from a close scolding by their Math teacher, maybe that’s the cause of the adrenaline and not from the embarrassment of being caught.
It wasn’t like YN wasn’t observing Hanni at all, she was just much more subtle about it. A piece of scratch paper was on the side of her notebook, keeping track of what she’s taken notice of. Hanni rarely wears accessories, but she does have various ways of styling her hair. Small braids on both sides, a messy bun, or like right now, it's kept up because of a clamp. There’s a key feature in almost all of her items, a fascination for butterflies, because who would keep an entire pack of butterfly clips along with an extra butterfly clamp in their locker? Lastly, her uniform, it's perfectly neat, like it was ironed a million times before she could wear it and not a single crease can be seen. Along with the fascination of observing her seatmate, she despises how Hanni would smack her when she’s laughing. YN never complained when Hanni does it, despite the pain and coming home to see it still a bit red.
By lunch, it was no surprise that the pair would go their separate ways but to see that YN standing in front of Hanni holding her packed lunch while she finishes cleaning her table. Either one would wait for the other to leave or maybe YN was no longer being subtle about it that Chaewon would always tease her. Still, it meant that Hanni wasn’t the last one to leave the room, both making sure that the aircons are off and the doors are closed.
“You have the spare key?” Being class president meant that YN always had the spare key at hand, if not Hanni could just go to the stuco office and get it there. Hanni has the privilege as the student council president, but YN wouldn’t admit it if she needs help from her, similarly to Hanni thanking her for waiting.
“Yeah.” YN patted her pocket but she heard nothing, no clinking of metals. She patted all of her pockets and checked her packed lunch if by chance she placed it there. Looking at the window of the classroom, she left it at their table. “Shit.”
“Ugh, seriously? This is the first time you’ve forgotten the keys.” Hanni kept note of those who borrowed the spare keys in the stuco office, and YN has not once borrowed it.
“Keeping track now, Pham? Are you gonna write on your project how I managed to forget the keys once?” Hanni rolled her eyes as the pair walked towards the stuco office, it was better to get the keys right away rather than when the bell rang. YN only followed, a bit pissed at Hanni’s comment, it was her fault she misplaced it but similar to her mistake for due from a spelling error, it only happens once.
“No, that would be too shallow, even for me. Id write how stupid you look like you’re Kevin from Home Alone, realizing you’ve forgotten it.”  YN stopped in her tracks, a bit taken aback by the comment. It wasn’t the comment on how stupid she looked but the fact that Home Alone was mentioned. How would she tell Hanni that it was a sensitive topic to discuss that movie because she related so much to it. Being left alone during the holidays in a mansion only being accompanied by the maids and butlers that her parents assumed would take care of her.
YN kept quiet the entire time they were together, from opening the room to get the keys, giving Hanni the one that stuco has, and leaving the girl to eat lunch. Hanni took notice of her rival’s silence. Did I hit a nerve?
When Hanni finally reached her lunch table with her friends, greeting them as she sat down and ate her lunch. Looking around, she noticed YN wasn’t with her friends. No, I shouldn’t care about her, she’s my academic rival.
Danielle being the sweetheart she is, checked up on Hanni. It wasn’t rare she was late but she’s quiet which is more concerning, as if there was a ticking bomb in her mind waiting to explode at any moment.
The last time the stuco president was this quiet was when YN lashed out at her, along the lines of her being accused of cheating which was then proven wrong by the prefect of discipline. That time, everything was a mess, Hanni profusely apologized to YN even with the amount of evidence that the girl didn’t cheat in the finals. It was the first time that Hanni was guilty for accusing the girl, but she still saw YN as a threat to her potential title of valedictorian. People making comments on how jealousy made Hanni finally break, badmouthing her and some were planning on bullying the girl. That was until YN finally spoke to her after weeks of apologizing. To say the least, it was a traumatic event for both Pham and Park.
“Hanni, are you ok?” She looked up and nodded, it wasn’t like YN would admit to her hitting a nerve. It terrified her when YN was quiet, bringing back memories from their first year together. Maybe I did hit a nerve?
— — — — — — — — — — — — — — — —
Once classes were over, YN had managed to write a few things about Hanni, some are good but she lashed out during lunch but shortly after disregarding it as the girl didn’t know anything about her life. All she could do is keep the ones she’s written and gather more info when she arrives at Hanni’s place.
Hanni was finishing with stuco duties, short meetings and planning for future events, the grad ball was a bit close and they needed a sponsor. No one was willing to ask or have any ideas who to ask, they were staring right at a wall, just nothing. YN was given permission to stay inside the room but she must not mention to anyone about the events being planned. They shouldn’t worry about her when Chaewon is the one that spills everything in the groupchat.
“Pst. YN, you know anyone that could sponsor the grad ball?” She does, she always does, her own parents could. She had already asked them, but it was Chaewon that asked her, not Hanni. If only Hanni wasn’t ignoring her, she would have told her right there and then that she does know someone.
“No, sorry.” A chorus of groans and someone smacking their head on the table can be heard. They were back to square one which made Hanni decide to end the meeting earlier than usual, at least to get them in the right headspace to continue the conversation tomorrow. Chaewon said goodbye to YN and Hanni, which was a weird sight to see, the rivals walking home together?
The walk to Hanni’s place was awkward, both were giving each other their distance but at the same time they didn’t. It was so awkward that Hanni wanted to scream while YN wanted to run away. Both wanted to be left alone but they needed to work on their project, they needed information about each other, what made YN so quiet and what made Hanni so terrified of the girl?
“So..” “Uhm…”
“Sorry, you first.” YN cleared her throat to signal Hanni it was fine for her to speak up, whatever she has to say can wait.
“Uh, about earlier at lunch…” YN hummed, quickly glancing at her. It made Hanni stop for a second, what happened to the cold exterior from earlier? Like it melted right away when they’re alone. Has YN been like this before?
“You were suddenly quiet… if I hit a nerve from my comment, I’m sorry.” Nothing surprised YN more than Hanni apologizing, sure, the home alone comment did hit a nerve but the fact that she noticed the subtle change. Has she been observing me?
“It did, but then again, you shouldn’t apologize. You didn’t know.” Hanni was about to say something else, until YN spoke up again, shocking the girl.
“Without saying much, it’s not insecurities from my looks. I have quite a high self-confidence to not worry about that aspect. On the other hand, I do apologize for lying earlier during your stuco meeting… I do know someone that could sponsor the grad ball.” That was the longest thing that YN has mentioned to anyone about herself, aside from her own group knowing her life and visiting her at home. She wasn’t giving much away, she had the self-confidence that Hanni already knew of. When it came to her connections, that was where Hanni is left in the dark, what is there to her life that she won’t share.
“Why’d you lie then?”
“I wanted you to ask me.” Turning the corner, Hanni stayed in her spot a bit. What does YN mean that she wanted me to ask her?
When the pair had arrived at the Pham household, which was empty as her parents hadn’t arrived home just yet. Hanni felt embarrassed, she swore she wouldn’t bring YN here under any circumstances but here she was, showing her around, going to her room and bringing out baby pictures. It didn’t feel as if they hated each other, no. There was a sudden feeling of comfort. She had managed to tell her about where she grew up, why she moved to Korea, what her parents’ jobs were, her favorite insect (a butterfly, YN knew that already), and how much she loves music. YN didn’t tease her much, aside from the insect and a few things about how adorable Hanni looked as a child, but somehow Hanni felt that YN slowly brought her walls down as she listened to her rant.
“And now, you know the basics. What more do you want to know?”
“The future, where do you see yourself in 10 years, Pham.”
Where did she see herself in 10 years? Well, first, she probably went back to Australia to pursue her college degree there or probably in Korea University to take Law or Psychology. Does she see YN in her future? Somehow, yes. Park YN is the driving force for her to be better, do better, and just become the better version of herself everyday. Weird. Hanni sees it happening, in college or in the workforce, YN would be there.
“Probably I’d be a lawyer, living on my own and helping people.”
“I assume I’m no longer in that part of your life.”
Hanni notices the little things, YN fidgeting with her rings, looking around, avoiding her gaze, and sitting up straight. Her body, it shows different emotions, she can’t pinpoint what it is. Maybe its the way that YN would look at her and have a short moment of eye contact that would make her breath hitch. The way YN would act upon without being asked to let Hanni wear her jacket. YN somehow without talking much let’s her body say it all. She may spit venom at Hanni, but the way she acts as if she secretly cares and thinks about her. When... when did she take notice of all the little things that YN does and why does it have to be now.
“Probably.” Uncertainty, a chance, a probability, that was what YN was hoping for. Somewhere in Pham Hanni’s life after their encounter in high school does she hope for a chance to be a part of her future. Whatever that may be. “Oh… I guess we’ll never know.” Pham Hanni was uncertain if what she feels is hatred or something blossoming.

“yn? its 2 in the morning.” “i know, i’m sorry. i just- can you sing for me?” minji despite you ruining her sleep would gladly do it for you as she makes sure you’re actually asleep before drifting back to dreamland.
dmd!yn
she really loves to annoy hanni, not a day goes by this woman isn’t annoying her seatmate
“oh look zayn and gigi broke up” “WHAT?!” “damn, just a break up and you’re already invested. why aren’t you that invested in me?” “SHUT UP, PARK.” hanni would take your phone and read the article, for an entire hour she’ll be pouting. cute.
aesthetic wise, she's dressed as dark academia, it perfectly suits her according to hanni
music taste: the vamps and taylor swift type of girl (but also hanni's voice but she'll never admit that)
lyt!yn
haerin's best friend and ex, so you know this girl is gonna protect her until her last breath
"hae... you know i’ll always fight for you. even before." haerin knew this, right from the very beginning but it was her who was scared.
aesthetic: smart casual, but also old money if she's going on a date
music taste: alternative pop (like finneas)

HOLY SHIIIII- bro the spoilers r heavy heavy that i need some time to process it 😭
foa, yes that is a ref from little prince . i tried looking for a connection or some hint there but unfortunately im not that smart 🤓 anywayyyyy....
SO SULLYOON IS IN THE SAME SCHOOL AS YN YET SHE ALWAYS HANGOUT WITH THE FIMMIES??? r u tryna tell me that their friendship fell apart bcs of something (siri, play backstabbers by the o'jays) and sullyoon is basically tryna drag her down rn? (hehe see what i did there)
sorry, moving on... YN ONLY FLIRTS WITH HANNI FOR FUN???? BRO DOESN'T THAT JUST PROVES MY POINT THAT HANNI FELL FIRST BUT YN FELL HARDER??? or yn is just being a dumdum, tryna ignore those butterflies and convince herself that she's not in love with hanni and is just doing it for fun 😄 but in all honesty, nobody fell first and fell harder bcs they BOTH fell for eo at the same time and they fell HARD 😌😌
the parks r so damn big bro . if i were yn, I'd just drop school and enjoy my rich life 🥰
this is a lot to take in tbh but thxx for spoiling so much 😭😭
OK I AM TOTALLY GOING TO BE A BIT HEAVY WITH SPOILERS AGAIN BUT OK HEHEHE
sullyoon has her own friend group similar to yn. as much as jihyo loved knowing the fact that her cousin has someone to lean on was great but, it was a request from her parents to broaden her connections… it was sort of a domino effect
yn met chaewon first, then yunjin and kazuha, followed by eunchae, and lastly, sakura (who technically works for her family)
sullyoon is with nmixx, so yn has some connection with her friends. so ms pretty bestie sullyoon and our beloved caffeine dependent yn are all goods. the og top 2 is someone else, first guess was right it was between the enhypen boys
yn isn’t that dense hehe
i meant she only jokingly flirts with hanni as a way to probably mask her true feelings 👀 or maybe not 🤭
hanni is also the type that would do their best to make their crush confess rather than them
park is a really common surname so not surprised that they’re spread out hehe
tldr: sullyoon is safe, she’s our bestie, the og second highest before yn arrived is between enha, and that i wont admit who actually fell first hehehe

okay so after rereading the prev chaps until the latest one , im officially stumped hsjsksksk- the more i read , the more i question bout lots of things 😂 (sorry bro , i aint the brightest)
first chap, u mentioned how with a click of her name , people can find out who yn was yet people still dk anything bout her priv life which prob meant that she only posts/people post bout her school life . she's also friends with sullyoon (is there gonna be a backstory bout her or was that just a filler?)
anw, let's try this hsjsksksk-
1. yn just enjoy teasing hanni bcs of the thrill . as u said, she doesn't even have to try hard to be on par with hanni . so , she prob don't care much bout the grades and only does it to annoy hanni since hanni is so competitive (ofc she is, her chances to get into her dream college/uni is at stake) . she find it fun, which something that she prob never felt before. or does she has an attachment issue? 😂
2. yn notices the small things bcs that's something that she wishes to have been b4 . something bad might have happened or it's bcs of her parents as well (?). like how she wishes her parents would do to her (pay more attention to her, etc).
3. regarding her life ... my theory would be something happened to her sibling hence why their parents r so protective and secretive of them (wdym except their father tho?) . yn's sibling is probably not in the picture anymore (hence why she moved school so jihyo can look after her). but that also the cause of her parents being neglectful bcs they're tryna busy themselves with work to forget bout it i guess.
4. yn doesn't feel like trying hard at school (take the top place) bcs she feels unnecessary to do so. her parents prob won't even bat an eye if she does so , that's why her coping mechanism is more into being playful and all cuz she just tryna live and have fun.
5. old money rich and food industry... why do i feel like there's something fishy bout it? 🤔 could it be that it is just a cover or her parents own like a multimillionaire company that has a lot of competitors tryna bring them down ...
bro, this is the longest I've ever wrote and im 100% sure it's not even close to the plot hajsksbdksk- 🤣🤣
also, would u be surprised if i said hanni fell first but yn fell harder? 👀
i hope my failed attempts on trying to guess entertains u enough so that u wont be too stressed out for ur exam ksksksks-
On ne voit bien qu'avec le cœur. L'essentiel est invisible pour les yeux.
HEAVY SPOILER CONTENT FOR DRAG ME DOWN 👀
also THAT LAST LINE IS FROM LITTLE PRINCE, RIGHT? ANON, BUBS, YOU KNOW THE WAY TO MY HEART
ok let's get this bread
she has socials but very private family, so anything about her family is hidden but school life such as events, that’s the only thing she allows to be public, and on top of that, she doesn’t really accept followers that fast
yes, sullyoon is her actual best friend, the only person she truly trusts with any information about her family and traumas. there's an entire chapter that would go in depth with yn's life as she opens up to hanni
1. yes, she really enjoys messing with hanni not only for the thrill of it bc we all know hanni is competitive but we’ll get there. yn doesn't try that hard to be a top student, just a little bit of effort here and there, as her future is sort of planned already but she's still given a choice. it's fun for yn cause she doesn't have that much friends who would tolerate with her teasing and she only jokingly flirts with hanni
2. yn is observant, she focuses too much on the small details, the patterns. like clockwork, she knows her family's schedule of when they're visiting them or when sakura needs her (little things chapter) she sort of got it bc of negligence from her parents but at the same time, like oh, the flowers were changed or a new batch of coffee beans at home that's not local?
3. OK HHAJDHASJKFHKAJHFA, I ACTUALLY ENJOY THE HISTORY OF THE PARK FAMILY ITS LIKE HOW WIL!YN IS VERY PROTECTIVE AND DOES NOT TAKE ACTION RIGHT AWAY BC OF HER RELATIONSHIP WITH HER FATHER.
the park family, yes, jihyo was the cousin that is keeping a close eye on yn but she transferred for the sole reason of having someone she is close with (sullyoon and jihyo). they're well-known, the parks are big bc one is in the music industry, another in the food world, some are in fashion, then you also have lawyers and judges, and the fact that no one knows they're connected makes it intriguing.
that's why yn has a choice, its nepotism baby (if yn chooses to work or take over the family business then that's when her parents would publicly announce that she's their daughter)
4. YOU'RE CLOSE BUT IT ACTUALLY IS SORT OF THAT. she doesn't care about grades, as long as she's not failing then she'll be fine bc her parents gave her a choice of what industry or corporate she'll work in
5. LAST ONE, BINGO. people are trying to find some sort of connection regarding the park industries, like are they connected or is it bc the surname is that common that people would assume they're related or what.
hahahaha I WONT TELL WHO FELL FIRST AND WHO FELL HARDER

yn being a genius prob bcs she studied hard to be like her sibling so that her parents would be proud of her as well (finally acknowledge her) or she's just doing it (study hard) bcs of being neglected...
idk bro, my brain is toasted 😩
i read the theory hehe, i’ll reply to that around the weekends hehehe
all i can say, yn is the older sibling, so… her parents especially her father was heavily exposed to the public like without giving much away, there were eyes on their family.
i wouldn’t say there was something bad that happened towards her sibling but more so her parents

i feel like i have to read back all the chaps to come up with any theory 🤔 but omg bro , i was so surprised about the accusation thing . is it just me or did yn lowkey started talking to hanni again after that incident bcs she didn't want people to do anything bad to hanni (talk bad or bully her like stated in that chap) 👀
VANESSA HAISNSKSNSJS- 😭😭 ngl the girls r slowly turning aussie bro ksksksksk-
u have exam tmrw and u still updated??? bro... have i ever told u ily bcs i do 🥹 good luck on ur exam tmrw! ^^
THEY’RE BEING INFLUENCED BY HANNI AND DANIELLE’S ACCENT BFJAGHSKAGSJAJA
yes, i have an exam tom and then finals the following week 🥹 bro… ilyt and thank you <3
spoilers after the cut :D
the accusation, yn didn’t expect that from hanni, probably from someone else like the original top 2 students 👀👀👀
maybe she did start talking to hanni so that people wouldn’t do anything 👀
so who actually fell first? clearly yn cares about hanni (the 800th day says it all plus the cards) hehehe
not giving away that much but if you read the current chapters that are out, there’s a bunch of foreshadowing hehehehehe

that made me think that yn was actually a tsundere too like hanni but she definitely isn't (at least to me) . i dont have any theories rn bout yn's fam but I'll def spam ur asks if i have any 🤭
hyein and haerin speaking English were soooo cute bro 😭 i literally cooed at them 🥹🤍 the revamped version of cookie was great too! (my fav!!) they def need to release that 😌
I STILL CANT GET OVER AT HOW PRETTY MINJI WAS AT LOLLA
which song was ur fav performance?
well hanni despises yn (she doesn’t hate her but she is a complete threat to her chances of getting into her dream uni/college). the only thing i’ve mentioned about yn’s family is that they’re rich, subtly hinting they’re within the food industry, and that jihyo is her cousin that no one knows of.
also like thoughts on hanni accusing yn of cheating and getting a first hand experience of her getting mad which is a rare occurrence as described yn is very energetic but private
HYEIN AND HAERIN SPEAKING IN ENGLISH, I THINK I SAW A COMMENT THAT SAID IT WAS VANESSA SPEAKING 😭 also yes minji, wavy hair perfect way to start the morning that is spent on reviewing for exams :))
i haven’t rewatched it which is a total bummer bc in watching the recorded lectures for my exam tom
BUT COOL WITH YOU THEN GET UP, JUST MAD CAUSE THE CAMERAS WERENT SURE WHO TO FOCUS ON LIKE BRUH
