Either way, he considered himself a neutral party, and didn’t really care to choose sides when it came to the latest neighborhood scandal. Really, he was only interested in what his wife was up to. And right then, she wasn’t answering his calls or texts.

“Sorry to pull you away from whatever patients you got but...my wife here? She’s not answering her phone.” He said with a cross of his arms, glancing down the hospital’s hall when he caught sight of a nurse out the corner of his eye with dark brown hair. Nope. Not Yasmine. He’d recognize her anywhere. “Just wanna check on her, you know? What with...baby and all.” He said distractedly glancing about the hall before fixing his gaze back on him.

She was trying to do better. She was going to do better. And so she moved along. “You’re right, boys do suck,” She agreed wholeheartedly, bumping her arm against her fellow artist’s, “And I’m pretty fond of you too.”

“Things are that simple Elias!” Piper shouted back, the anger that was swelling in her gut exploding out of her in a rage. “You threw away our marriage, not me!” And she was ashamed that some part of her would have been willing to work it out if he’d want to, that she would have taken him back and worked on their marriage if he’d not turn his affair into a relationship. If he hadn’t left. She felt pathetic just thinking about it, that he’d cheated and she was still the one who had been willing to work it out. “You can try to make it complicated with all the excuses in the world to make yourself feel better, but you gave up on us. On me. That is how simple it is!” Her breathing was laboured as she finished, the leftover adrenaline of her anger still pulsing through her blood stream was the only think keeping her tears at bay. “I don’t owe you anything.” She only wished that she could convince herself that was true.
