I like how each half of the S1 finale is like symetrical but opposite:

- Both are named afer the Deathly Sin that is introduced: Ozzie’s for Asmodeus, Queen Bee for Beelzebub.

- Both have “parties”, but in Ozzie Blitz goes there uninvited and clearly overstepping boundaries, while in Queen Bee he goes there because Loona calls him and ends up staying being conviced by her.

- Azmodeus presents himself as a large imposing creature, and uses his song to taunt creatures that he sees and inferiors, he sees people indulging in his sin as an espectacle to be commented. Beelzebub encourages everyone into her sin but seems to be understanding of their limits, her song is provocative and inviting, and so is her apparence, having a more “regular” human-like size.

- They are both in a relationship with a creature of lower castes (an imp and a hellhound), but while Azmodeus hides his own and judges others for their relationships, Beelzebub is very open with her relationship and doesn’t seem to hold judgement nor look down on imps.

- They both end up kicking people out of their parties, even using a distroted demon sounding voice to force the situation. Azmodeus did it because Moxxie and Millie were essentially cramping his style, but he was right in that going to the lust ring to sing about an honest romantic relationship was not reading the room. Beelzebub thought that Bliz had to go for his own good, as he was too drunk, she had in fact played a hand in his state.

- Azmodeus intervention mocks M&M and drives a wedge between Blitz and Stolas, while Beelzebubs intervention gives us one of the few positive interactions between Loona and Blitz.

Speaking of the sinners EGO, I had this thought for very long time before Limbus was released but I always find it weird that all the sinners share same theme of the EGO, being a prisoner, which sounds like an EGO that was extracted from one same abnormality right?

Firstly, we have multiple form of EGO :

1. Lobotomy Corporation EGO

EGO in the form of weapons and gear which was byproduct of enkephalin extraction after working on an abnormality. All LobCorp EGO are always from an abnormality.

2. Effloresced EGO

They are EGO that one awaken after meeting Carmen herself. These are EGO whose source is the user themselves.

Other example being : Xiao and Vergilius (because DD hasn't confirm how Mosses and YuRia get their EGO exactly I am not confident to put them in this category, altho with the connection between this EGO and distrotion it is very high likely it is the case)

3. Limbus Company EGO

Usually they are from an abnormality and they work by making the user resonate with the abnormality itself directly and this is what I want to talk about.

The sinners base EGO are in this category but then who exactly they resonate with? And why they all share the same theme of being a prisoner?

It is very clearly stated what/who the LimCom EGO is from as you can see it on the upper left corner of the screen whenever you use it. In this case the sinners name always appear whenever you use their base EGO.

And because it is their own EGO they can't corrode from it (cost 0 sanity)

Each of sinners EGO reflect their past or trauma, being seen as a prisoner with similar outfit while outside of their prison is the image of... something (it could be what traumatize them or their regret, something we will only understand when we get to their canto)

Does that mean Limbus Company extract these EGO from the sinners themselves? So whenever sinners uses these EGO they have to resonate with part of them who is the prisoner of their past and trauma. Maybe the theme of being a prisoner on these EGO are the result of their shared status of being a sinner.

Why they have to be a sinner? Is there something in common they share that make them a sinner?

Will there ever come a day where they are sinners no more?

There are technically two other form of EGO that I didn't include here. One being where Kali awaken an armor EGO after listening to her LobCorp EGO Mimicry too much. And Library of Ruina EGO where abnormalities willingly borrow their power to the librarian.

concept for an album that i would make if i was a musician (which im not):

an entire album centered around one single song that keeps being modified and iterated upon and distroted and the album is the evolution of that same song time and time again until it becomes unrecognizable

and every new iteration would come with a little fictional story behind why it was changed.

so lets say the very first track is just an intro to the album and is just a small janky tune, a little melody made on a flute or maybe a piano, presented as the core leivmotiff of the song. it is presented as this old popular tune, much like yankee doodle or when the saints are marching in, the idea is that its this old folk song by an anonymous artist that everyone knows.

in track 2 we see a more formal version, maybe showing up as part of an improv solo in an old jazz piece, for extra effects it is processed to sound like an old recording on a phonograph.

then in track 3 a much more polished version, reinterpreted by a white artist, this time with lyrics added. the implication woud be that this is the version that actually became popular and made actual money.

for track 4 we see an orchestral version of the song, in here it was used as the soundtrack of an old movie, probably in the 50's or 60's.

then in track 5 a synth pop remake that some pop singer made in the 80's. the lyrics are slightly changed from the original version

followed in track 6 with the same song reinterpreted as a crappy 90's jingle with the lyrics changed to sell burgers or something.

...and then in track 7 it shows up as a weird al parody of the song

track 8 is another orchestral version, this time a lot more dramatic, with a lot more booms and horns and a haunting piano, this time from the trailer for the remake of the movie

then in track 9 we go for a tik tok acapella duet collaboration where more and more voices keep getting added, once again the lyrics are changed slightly, this time because the original lyrics were considered problematic

in track 10 we see some silly shitposty mash up version of the song, which gets progressively worse and more deep fried until it collapses into utter noise and nonesense

and then we end track 11 with a very simple, unplugged, understated version, one singer and a guitar, just singing the song properly, from beggining to end, no bells and whistles, hopefully incorporating the best elements of each one of the previous versions

Echos of one another, both born in a lab. Both escaped, but one left with something extra, something that would soon become precious. The other left empty handed. Both on the run, feeling like they can never escape, and that they will find them again. One had his powers taken away, the other was not given such punishment. Their paths diverge further as one gets bitten by a radioactive spider, echoing the orgins of hero(s) across the multiverse. The other one does not.

Their paths will cross sooner or later, and they will finally see the distroted reflection in the mirror. And boy, will they hate what they see.

And for the more imaginative, and/or more paranoia prone ones of us: the fact your headphones crack, or your sceen starts to act funny is most probably because of broken cable, or other relatively trivial malfunction, rather than because of putting in your pocket or usb slot radioactive material. Hopefully, chance of running into deadly radioactive material, or any seriously hazardous substance, for most of people is still quite miniscule. To not say, staistically imposible. So as it is good to have open mind, it probabbly isn't much more dangerous out there, in the world than when you started reading. Real vs. hyperreal vs. surreal

Realistic: North Side Gal- JD McPherson : one of my favorite artists ever and a true lover of retro. This song was performed live in the studio with his band using all analog equipment, vintage gear and vintage mics, which I read about in an interview. Hyperreal: You Ain't The Problem- Michael Kiwanuka: this song is so interesting because of its wide range of sounds and effects. This can surely be replicated, but not to a T with a regular sized band. The layering of voices, all the different layers of percussion, creates such a loud, vast sound. Surreal: Black Out Days- Phantogram : This electronic duo is a master in samples and layering. There are loud distroted percussive loops, vocals tracked in loops bevcoming the main motif of the song. The main vocals have heavy reverb and delay to create an atmosphere. The beats are made to sound fake, the fat synth sounds dominate this track.
