Hello from the Beehive Huts in County Kerry, Ireland!

These stone structures date back to 1200AD and would have housed a family of farmers. The huts were built in circles reducing in size every level up so that each layer gets closer and closer to the center until there is only a small opening on top and a single stone can be placed to enclose it. Prehistoric people also used a method called corbeling where the stones have a downward and outward slope so as to drain and avoid water from entering within.

Amazing right? Stepping inside one of these huts could be claustrophobic as even I had to duck down. The space inside was no more than a bedroom for one person we experience today. It was still an amazing experience to be able to walk in and through these Beehive Huts!
