#did i make a fic length post for edissy?
No, but hear me out; a ChrissyLives AU but she and Eddie are reacquainted after Vecna's attack.
Eddie's heard the rumors, he's seen the front page of The Hawkins Post, he's watched the million 'breaking news' segments on tv; Chrissy Cunningham, captain of the cheerleading squad and crowned queen of Hawkins High, had been found late at night at their town's ring road, laying suspiciously unconscious and in great disarray next to her car, driver's side door open, engine still running, the radio softly playing. And then a nerdy reporter from the school newspaper was found dead and a jock from the basketball team had the same fate soon after and these tragedies were just as shocking as seeing Cunningham return to school after spring break sans her emerald cheerleading uniform and signature high ponytail, in clothes two sizes bigger than her, in darker colors, in combat boots and with her blue eyeshadow being swapped for black, bold eyeliner.
Face ghastly and doe eyes deprived of any light, she looks as if she's completely uninterested anymore, ignoring anything that has to do with their fake little high school world, labels and social hierarchy and all the teenage drama in between. So Eddie can't do anything but stare, keep noticing her, keep examining her, like she is suddenly a wild species in this fish bawl of forced conformity. One day the rumor mill's hot topic is her and golden boy Jason Carver breaking up and the next Eddie is doing a double take, as he watches her stride towards him and his van, asking for anything to help her take the edge off and relax.
Later that day, at his designated drug-dealing table in the woods, he finds out that she wants - no, needs - something to quiet down the noise; something to ease her deranged mind. And Eddie gives it to her. And even brings her to his trailer for something even stronger, per her request. And for some reason he has trouble pinpointing, he keeps trying to help her more, actually help her, as a person, as maybe a friend, because this rogue, dark parade Chrissy is a glitch in the Matrix that needs to be fixed - or so he lies to himself. And she keeps pushing him away and keeps spirialling, hiding more into her shell and making stupid desicions and rebelling against her mother and talking back to teachers and getting drunk in shitty bars and asking for more and more of his stuff each time she comes knocking at his door at midnight and now he is not curious anymore, he is concerned and he wants to talk but she just shushes him with a kiss and tries to make a pass at him, because she wants to feel something, to feel alive again, and, after he gets over the initial shock, he stops her and she is hurt and runs away and they never talk about this and she never asks him again for anything.
Until Henderson and his weird tomboy friend that happens to be Eddie's neighbor, Mayfield, are asking an awful lot questions about Chrissy Cunningham and they seem concerned too but for something that Eddie can't quite grasp, even after they take turns trying to explain. And now he goes to talk to Chrissy again, determined and persistent while she tries to brush him off, and, after a long conversation, she starts bawling her eyes out, one part of her relieved that she is not alone in this and the other devastated because everything he told her sounds crazy and horrifying, but he promises that they're going to deal with this together and she finds a weird sense of comfort in his words, her hand seeking his in the dark and their fingers intertwining, silently sealing the promise.
