baecation ⸺ lewis hamilton
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
devon felt a sense of elation as she stepped onto the balcony of a luxurious suite. the view of the glistening azure waters against the bright sun was breathtaking. She couldn't help but smile warmly as the gentle breeze played with her hair, and the scent of the sea filled her senses. she stood there for a few minutes, taking in the beauty of the place and feeling grateful for the opportunity to escape from the constant hustle and bustle of her life.
as she turned to head back into the suite, she heard footsteps approaching from behind. she paused and looked back to see her boyfriend walking towards her. he had just returned from surfing, and his trunks was still damp. she smiled at him, and he wrapped his solid and muscled arms around her waist, pulling her close to him. she felt content and safe in his embrace, and she knew that this was the perfect getaway for the two of them.
"hey, beautiful", lewis greeted her with an warm embrace, pressing his head against her neck as he gently kissed her cheek. the two stood by the water, devon chuckling, but then letting out a soft whine as she noticed her dress was wet.
"oh, lewis, you should have changed! you got my dress wet," she frowned, but lewis just laughed and playfully poked her sides, causing her to giggle and try to escape. "Sorry, love, I should've been more careful. Can't be ruining your clothes… just yet."
The two of them laughed together before devon decided to lead lewis to their bedroom. once there, she cupped his face and kissed him lovingly, closing her eyes as he wrapped his arms around her waist and held her onto his lap.
author note : decided to write something a bit new and it's been on my mind for awhile <33 hope it was enjoyable ! @burberryfilms @luvvtrent @l0starl

The OG 4 (created for CP77)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Witches (from an original setting)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Grey Warden (from Dragon Age)
Tumblr media
Some informations about them under the cut:
Tumblr media
Name: Faye Seela Valo (tag faye valo)
Alias: V
Pronouns: She/her
Sexuality: Bi
Height: 5'9.5'' (the .5 is important)/176 cm
Partner/Love interest: Ozob Bozo (shippy tag faye x ozob)
Age: 27
Random: She's from Vancouver, Canada, but following the passing of her best friend, she left home and ended up in NC after wandering on the west coast for a while. She's an incredibly independant person and knows how to look after herself, but she can easily prove her value, which helped her secure work and contacts quickly in NC. She shares a workshop with Iris, working as a mechanic specialized in mechatronics.
Tumblr media
Name: Harrison Joseph Sutherland (tag harris sutherland)
Alias: John Lambert (from gang years)
Pronouns: He/Him
Sexuality: Bi
Height: 6'2''/188 cm
Partner/Love interest: various flings, nothing serious after the death of his one true love (Ludivine Hamilton)
Age: 36
Random: He's the older brother of Faye (on their father's side). An avid biker with a fondness for troubles (or is it that he's a magnet for them?). He's a piece of work, BUT he'll get any job done with the wanted results, making him a good merc during his time in NC. He used to be in a gang during his youth/early adulthood, so tricky situations are not something that stress him out; one might even say he enjoys it.
Tumblr media

Sexuality: Bi
Height: 5'11''/180cm
Partner/Love interest: Declan ''Brick'' Griffin (shippy tag iris x declan)
Age: 33
Random: A very resourceful and imaginative techie, who's outgoing and has a pretty chill view of life. Was raised in a deranged stepfamily and decided to leave it all behind to make her own path. Despite being in a long-lasting relationship with Brick, she never joined Maelstrom (as it was a wish, for them both). Every so often, she does hang out with some specific members, though :)
Tumblr media
Name: Devon Adrian Maggard (tag devon maggard)
Alias: Lt. Maggard
Pronouns: He/Him
Sexuality: Bi
Height: 6'4''/193 cm
Partner/Love interest: Jessamyn Murphy (shippy tag devon x jessa)
Age: 35
Random: Following a car accident (the same one that cost the life of his brother), underwent an extensive ''rehabilitation'' that gave him back the ability to walk, but at the expense of a ''cyborgening'' which remains heavy to deal with. He's a MaxTac lieutenant (later, commander), naviguating - and ruthlessly adapting to- the many grey zones that come upon him.
Tumblr media
Name: Jessamyn Eva Murphy (tag jessamyn murphy)
Alias: Hræsvelgr
Pronouns: She/Her
Sexuality: Bi
Height: 5'8''/173 cm
Partner/Love interest: Devon Maggard (shippy tag devon x jessa)
Age: 34
Random: Chosen sister of Egon. She's in charge of ''informations acquirement'' for the organization COVATECH, specialized in botanical biochemistry and evolutionary developmental biology. More importantly, she's the handler of the sentient AI YGGDRA-517, that inhabits the walls of the organization.

Alias: Hyena
Pronouns: She/They
Sexuality: Lesbian
Height: 6'/183 cm
Partner/Love interest: only flings

Random: Chosen sister of Jessamyn. Now, this one is a bit explosive. Thriving in chaos, with a taste for fire. And how do you control chaos? By giving it Purpose. She serves as an enforcer during certain tasks, as well as associate for tracking informations holders, to aid her sister.
Tumblr media
Name: Srovren Antonius Ismir Halligar (tag srovren halligar)
Alias: Greyson
Pronouns: He/Him
Sexuality: Bi
Height: 6'6''/198 cm
Partner/Love interest: Isaura Forsythia

Are there any more songs submitted so far that look like they're gonna be a guaranteed inclusion?
Here's the full list as of right now
Multiple submissions:
"There! Right there!" (Gay or European) - The legally blonde musical
"Therefore you and me" - Hatsune Miku (Or the E ve version)
"Soldier, poet, king" - The Oh Hellos
"How far we've come" - Matchbox twenty
"The other side" - The greatest showman
"Rät" - Penelope Scott
"Little Miss Perfect" - Written by Joriah Kwamé
"My whole family..." - Bo Burnham
"The Mind Electric" - Miracle Musical
"Ready as I'll ever be" - Tangled the series
Could use more propaganda (one or two submissions, or submissions with close to no propaganda):
If an animatic song you really like is in this category there is no need for you to submit it again if you have no propaganda, it will most likely be in. You can use the form to submit propaganda for them or you can wait until the bracket is revealed to submit propaganda for the specific poll it's in on the ask box (preferable for me ahah).
If the bracket isn't symmetrical on all sides there's a small possibility some of the lesser-known songs of this category could get chopped lol.
"Blue lips" - Regina Spektor
"Honey, I'm home" - Ghost and pals
"Brave as a Noun" - AJJ the band
"This is Home" - Cavetown
"No children" - The mountain goats (This one has multiple submissions but all the propaganda is a variation of 'I'ts no children, come on' or 'you'll probably have too much propaganda by now so I'm not writing any' and I find that extremely funny)
"My ordinary life" - The Living Tombstone
"Ordinary" - Written by Joriah Kwamé
"Villain" - Stella Jang
"I wish you liked girls" - Abbey Glover / "I wish you liked boys" - Cover by Jasper Isaac
"A Crow's Trial" (A [blank]'s trial) - Vane

"Your stupid face" - Kayden Makay
"Nowhere King" - Centaurworld
"Sincerely, Me" - Dear Evan Hansen
"Wine Red" - The Hush Sound
"Everything At Once" - Lenka
"Good for you" - Dear Evan Hansen

"You, Me and Steve" (You, Me and [Blank] / Your best friend Steve / Your best friend [Blank]) - Garfunkel And Oates
"This guy is in love with you, pare" - Chito Miranda (and my friend is incredibly offended nobody submitted this one)
"Hayloft II" - Mother mother
"I know I'm a Wolf" - Young Heretics

"Poor unfortunate souls" - The little Mermaid
"When He Sees Me" - Waitress the Musical

"Never love an anchor" - The Crane Wives
"Ghosting" - Mother Mother
"Two Birds" - Regina Spektor
"Wolf in Sheep's Clothing" - Set It Off
"A Sadness Runs Through Him" - The Hoosiers
I can't decide" ([Blank] can't decide) - Scissor Sisters
Limbo
I'll hold preliminary polls for them to see if they get in if I need spaces to make the bracket have the same amount of matches on every side. The amount of how many will get in will be decided by how many songs are needed once the submissions close. If too many songs are needed I'll chop some of the least popular songs from the "could use more propaganda" category instead.
You can submit propaganda for why they should get in if you want, but have in mind there's a small possibility it might not be used at all
"Don't you dare forget the sun" - Get Scared
"Lover boy" (Good old fashioned lover boy) - Queen
"Blonde Boyz" - Cyndago
"Seventeen" - Heathers the Musical
"Drop pop Candy" - REOL / English cover by Kuraiinu and JubyPhonic
"Rolling girl" - Hatsune Miku
"The Ballad of Sara Berry" - 35mm: A Musical Exhibition
"Painted smile" - Madame Macabre

"A thousand years" - Christina Perri
"Mamma Mia" - ABBA
"Best Worst Mistake" - If/then: A New Musical
"Sk8er Boi" - Avril Lavigne
"The Phoenix" - Fall Out Boy
"Why is my song not anywhere?"
Either it was an animation meme/AMV Edit/MAP instead of an actual animatic thing, most animatics are vents / not fandom or OC-related, the song is literally 20 seconds long, or it didn't have enough animatics for me to count it. With this in mind, if you think there's been a mistake or that I accidentally skipped it (or that a song is in the wrong category) feel free to tell me so in the ask box.
The songs in limbo are exceptions because of any of these reasons:
there's a specific animatic/animation with the song that is so iconic for a fandom that it could get in even if it doesn't have the animatic amount required
The song reaches the amount required, and it has never been properly referred to as an animation meme, but a lot of the animatics are the exact same format (like an animation meme)
The song has a lot of animatics, but I could barely find any that were not animatics of the source material
The song is more popular as an animation meme, but also has some animatics
The propaganda provided was just good enough for me to give it a chance, even if they don't have the animatic amount required
I'm including all songs that check the criteria I have not had time to check the lyrics of all the songs I don't know, I've only checked that they have enough animatics; so just in case: I'll check everything when submissions close, don't worry. Feel free to tell me in the ask box, but have in mind that I'm only taking the song itself into account, not the artist, so please don't flood my inbox with the artist's entire crime list.

This coming year I think I'm going to be on here more often than I am on twitter or elsewhere, and as part of that, I'm going to start documenting the process of writing my novel more actively. Cabin Pressure Advent Day 2: Boston
This is a funny one, because I started it, was laughing a lot, and was like "why don't I listen to this more often?" And then Hamilton Leeman showed up and I was like "ohhh that's why."
It is really funny- a lot of the rhythms that were slightly off in Abu Dhabi feel a lot more set in place, though I think the one who seemed most off kilter was, for some reason, Arthur. He was mostly a plot/comedy device in this one and maybe that's why- he was very funny but his actions and insights didn't always feel consistent. I wonder if it would have been better if Douglas had been the one to note that Leeman was likely to smoke again- though I do love the "taking a course on understanding people in Ipswich" thing.
Or... maybe it's because he commits manslaughter in this episode?
It's never NOT jarring to see (or rather hear) this happening, and honestly, that's my first major issue with the episode- the stakes are WAY too high. Not even specifically for the second episode- in general I just don't think they ever are remotely at the level of life or death again. Any risk or danger is to MJN as a company, and that ends up being an acceptable level of risk- especially since, as Arthur notes, Douglas will always end up sorting it out. But having a character have a heart attack in the episode, and the conflict being about the best way to deal with the situation... it was too high stakes for a show with this kind of sitcom tone. They should be debating whether to shove the piano to the pub in Devon, not which airport is better for saving Leeman's life (and, incidentally, other people's personal convenience).
The other major issue? The freaking Americans. I'm sorry, as an American I can say that I have never met an American in a British sitcom who I have liked (or if I have, I don't recall). In this episode, they just don't work at all- the performers are funny but don't sound right, and everything is just super over the top. I don't like Nancy what's her name in Qikiqtarjuaq either for similar reasons- maybe I'm just a grinch but just... not super fun. (Incidentally, on that note, I'm always surprised that so many British people love Frasier considering how dodgy the British character portrayals can be- except that, like Cabin Pressure, Frasier is brilliant so I can see why they stick around despite the issues lol.)
Some more early installment weirdness- do we ever see Martin openly looking for another job again before S3? I don't think we do, which is surprising because later on we know he's not getting paid here, and right now in Boston we don't know anything of the kind- so honestly I was surprised it was an open secret. Maybe it's normal to be open about interviewing in the airline world? IDK.
So yeah, the above is why I'm not so surprised that this hasn't been on my rotation in a while- but as it happens, there were some REALLY funny bits. While Arthur felt a bit hodge-podgey, the bits and pieces that he DID do were very funny, especially Leeman's eulogy, and there were a lot of VERY funny lines. I was laughing a lot- in between the parts where I was like "what the hell."
Probably will skip through Boston every now and then, but I don't think I'm going to prioritize a full relisten any time soon. Cremona is the next one, and I don't have great memories of that either, but then comes Douz and we have a nice period of VERY clear sailing ahead! (I fucking love Douz.)

Tom Stoppard and Jemma Redgrave back £1.25m fundraising appeal for Hampstead

Tom Stoppard, Robert Lindsay and Jemma Redgrave are among supporters of a campaign seeking to raise £1.25 million for Hampstead Theatre to continue commissioning and producing new plays.
It comes as the theatre announces a new season of work for the spring of 2024, which includes four premieres, including a new play by April De Angelis.
The fundraising campaign follows Hampstead Theatre being cut from Arts Council England’s national portfolio last year, meaning it lost an annual subsidy of £766,455, which prompted concerns from writers that the venue would cut back on original work.
It also resulted in the resignation of its then artistic director Roxana Silbert, with chief executive Greg Ripley-Duggan taking over responsibility for the programming.
Ripley-Duggan previously confirmed to The Stage that the studio space would continue to be a home for new writing, but warned there could be cuts to the number of shows staged in the space.
The #HampsteadAhead campaign is a philanthropic appeal for £1.25 million "to propel Hampstead Theatre as it continues to nurture and commission writers, produce new plays and offer significant ticket subsidies to thousands of young people".
A small number of Hampstead’s supporters and trustees have already pledged £1 million towards the appeal.
Playwright Roy Williams said the campaign was "vital to its continued success", while Stoppard added: “Just being here at Hampstead Theatre makes me feel the necessity of theatres like this, not just surviving but flourishing. It’s a lot to do with succeeding generations of writers and that’s why the #HampsteadAhead appeal is important.”
Ripley-Duggan said Hampstead’s aim had "always been to present outstanding new plays and champion original talent".
"Philanthropy is at the heart of Hampstead’s future and with £1 million already pledged towards our new £1.25 million #HampsteadAhead appeal, we want to say thank you for the rock-solid support of our patrons, audiences and trustees," he added.
The new season opens with the world premiere of The Divine Mrs S by De Angelis, directed by Anna Mackmin, about 18th-century theatre actor Sarah Siddons. This runs from March 22 to April 27, with press night on March 28.
Michael Longhurst returns to Hampstead Theatre to direct the UK premiere of Stephen Adly Guirgis’ Between Riverside and Crazy, from May 3 to June 15, with press night on May 13.
Concluding the season on the main stage is Christopher Hampton’s Visit from an Unknown Woman, an adaptation of a short story by Stefan Zweig, which will be directed by Clare Lizzimore and runs from June 21 to July 27, with press night on July 1.
The Hampstead Downstairs programme includes Grud, a first play by Sarah Power, directed by Jaz Woodcock-Stewart, Richard Molloy’s The Harmony Test, directed by Alice Hamilton, and Richard Nelson’s An Actor Convalescing in Devon, written for and performed by Paul Jesson and directed by Clarissa Brown.
“We’re thrilled that, as we approach the end of our first year without government subsidy, we can still offer such a rich and varied programme of new plays for our audiences to enjoy," Ripley-Duggan said.
