Although a huge standard by any country's charting method, the band's sales were certainly plummeting since the release of 4 in 1981. It was the last album to feature the '80s core lineup of #lougramm, #mickjones, #rickwills, and #denniselliott. My copy is a gatefold on #atlanticrecords - 81808-1 The second single, "#IDontWantToLiveWithoutYou", reached #5 on the Hot 100. Album Number Four Hundred Eighty Four. “Agent Provocateur” is the fifth studio album by Foreigner, released on Dec. 7, 1984. The album was the band's first and only number one album in the UK, and it reached the top 5 in the States. Although album sales were lower than their previous work in the US, it contains the band's biggest hit single, "#iwanttoknowwhatloveis", which is their only #1 single in the UK and the US, staying at the top spot for three and two weeks, respectively. The follow-up single, "#ThatWasYesterday", also proved to be a sizeable hit, peaking at #12 in the US The album was certified Platinum in the UK by the BPI, and triple Platinum in the US by the RIAA. My copy is on #atlanticrecords - 81999-1-E. By the time of #agentprovocateur, #foreignerband was frequently savaged by the contemporary rock music press. A review in Creem read: "On this, their latest excursion into the gaping jaws of pulverizing mediocrity, our boys continue to wrestle with an all-too-turgid identity crisis — they still can't decide whether it's stupider to aspire to poor man's Led Zep status or settle for being a weightier version of Chicago. Album Number Four Hundred Eighty Two. “Head Games” is the third studio album by Foreigner, released on 10 Sept 1979 by Atlantic Records. It was the only #foreignerband album co-produced by #roythomasbaker best known for working on Queen's classic albums. It marked the first appearance of new bass guitarist #rickwills (formerly of Jokers Wild and #smallfaces ) who replaced #edgagliardi (who was fired from the band), and was the last album with founding members #ianmcdonald and #algreenwood , who would leave the band after the recording. #headgames is also the last Foreigner album to feature a lead vocal by guitarist #mickjones ("The Modern Day"). My copy is on #atlanticrecords - SD 29999. The model in the photograph on the front cover is American actress and film producer #lisannefalk . The cover art was criticized by feminists for showing a teenage girl looking afraid in a boys' restroom. But according to Foreigner lead singer #lougramm , the cover was intended to be cute, like a cartoon. Gramm said "The girl is being naughty, erasing graffiti [in the restroom]. She's looking at whoever buys the album, she's been caught." According to Miami Herald critic Bill Ashton, the cover art is a play on the album title Head Games. Atlantic Records publicity director Stuart Ginsburg pointed out that "head is a naval term for bathroom" and Foreigner's media coordinator Susan Steinberg stated that "the girl on the cover is shocked by the graffiti. Recorded between December 1977 and March 1978, it was Foreigner's only album co-produced by #keitholsen and the last recording with bass guitarist #edgagliardi who would be later replaced by Rick Wills. My copy is on Atlantic Records - SD 19999. #doublevision was the first in the line of many other recordings in which A&R executive #johnkalodner would simply have his name listed twice in liner notes, as a play on the title of this album. The phrase "John Kalodner: John Kalodner" originated when the producer Olsen was wondering just how to credit Kalodner's involvement in the band and the album. In keeping with the double vision theme, guitarist #mickjones came up with an idea of doubling the name. Mick Jones takes the lead vocals on "Back Where You Belong" and "I Have Waited So Long". It also features album tracks such as "#headknocker " and "#starrider ", the latter of which features a rare lead vocal from lead guitarist and co-founder #mickjones . My copy is the #atlanticrecords rerelease, also from 1977, SD 19109. The band was originally formed in NYC in 1976 by veteran British guitarist and songwriter Mick Jones and fellow Briton and ex-#kingcrimson member #ianmcdonald , along with American vocalist #lougramm . Jones came up with the band's name as he, McDonald and #denniselliott were British, whereas Gramm, #algreenwood and #edgagliardi were American. Jones had written several songs that wound up on “#foreigner ” prior to the formation of the band. Lead singer Lou Gramm sang three of them – "Feels Like the First Time", "Woman, Oh Woman" and "At War with the World" in his audition to form the band.
