Seven Kisses Prompt Challenge, Day 3 - a kiss to get what you want
Connor and the others had tried everything to deviate the RK900 they had found in the CyberLife Tower and named Nines—but to no avail.
There was one thing, however, that Connor hadn't tried: overpowering Nines with a mixture of a direct attack on his system via an interface and intimate physical contact—a kiss.
For Connor, it was a kiss to get Nines to deviate.
And for Nines? He was already a deviant, but he wanted to know how far Connor would go.

I heard Valentine's Day is getting closer...
So, welcome to my 7th Detroit: Become Human Prompt Challenge and the first one in 2022! This one will be short and all about kisses in celebration of this special holiday.
I'd like to underline that these kisses - while they can be - don't necessarily have to be romantic ones. They can also be platonic. So you're absolutely free to interpret the prompts the way you want.
The challenge will take place from February 8th - 14th, 2022.
As always, I hope for lots of participants and I can't wait to see what you guys come up with this time.
Prompts 😘:
February 8th - Tuesday: a kiss not expected
February 9th - Wednesday: a kiss missed
February 10th - Thursday: a kiss to get what you want
February 11th - Friday: a kiss to remember
February 12th - Saturday: a kiss to talk about
February 13th - Sunday: a kiss to say goodbye/farewell
February 14th - Monday: a kiss to seal a promise
Information and Rules:
The tag for this challenge is #dbhsevenkisses
You’re free to choose any character or ship from the D:BH fandom (no OCs) you like, but if you choose a romantic ship all involved characters have to be adults/androids designed to be adults
Show/Write what you want, but please make sure to tag your content correctly, so people who don’t want nsfw/gore/a specific ship/whatever on their dash don’t have to see it
Don’t bash anybody for their chosen ship or content!
You can contribute more than one piece per day
Of course you can pick single prompts from the list, you don’t have to do all of them if you don’t want to
If you can’t finish a submission in time, you can always post it belated
Not a rule, but I’d really appreciate if you’d tag me ( @connor-sent-by-cyberlife ) if you contribute something to this challenge
Reblogs to bring attention to this challenge would be highly appreciated
If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask
Thank you for your interest and support!
People who wanted to get tagged/said they were okay with being tagged below the cut. Please let me know if you want to be removed from my tagging list. Or if you want to be added in case you miss your name here ;) . As always no pressure!

A kiss to get what you want
Nines had caught his chosen human looking at the chewed-up toys hidden away in the closet more frequently as of late. He hadn’t kept many objects to remember his beloved Tofu apart from those and the pictures he has stored on his phone. The one-year anniversary is coming up, Nines realises as they step through the door into a quiet apartment. Too quiet and he knows Gavin feels the effects of it far more deeply than he.
Perhaps taking him to the animal shelter hadn’t been the brightest of ideas, even after explaining to Gavin’s betrayed exclamations that he wasn’t trying to replace Gavin’s old cat. No animal was the other alike. Like any other creature that had their own distinct personality. All he asked was for him to socialise with them because he’d thought that maybe it’d bring a smile back to his face seeing a clowder of cats vying for his attention. If, if, he for any reason fell in love with one of them then they could discuss bringing them home.
So, Gavin is ushered by one of the employees into the meet-and-greet room while Nines discusses what an adoption from their shelter would entail, listening attentively to the AX400’s enthusiastic spiel. It was a foolproof plan, really. What could possibly go wrong? Nines had thought secure in his decision until the time he walked into the room to see Gavin weighed down by not one, not two, but three whole cats. In his infinite wisdom Nines had somehow forgotten that most often the cats themselves adopted you, not the other way around, and these three looked unwilling to move so much as an inch.
“Can we keep them?” Gavin asks the moment he’s close enough, cradling a cat on each arm while the third hangs off his neck like a disinterested scarf. His eyes are wide, enraptured and smitten, pleading with Nines to agree without doing more than look at him. Already Nines feels himself wavering, absolutely hopeless at ever denying his partner a single thing.
Ignoring the poorly disguised, muffled laughter from the employee in the corner he makes a valiant attempt to remain strong.
“Gavin–”
“Please?”
“I don’t think–”
Gavin steps closer and cuts him off with a soft kiss, catching his bottom lip between his own, and as he moves away one of the cats sticks a cold nose into his cheek, sniffing before they give him an experimental lick.
And Nines is a weak, weak man bending to Gavin’s will like reeds in the wind.
“Okay,” he sighs and smiles into the enthusiastic lip-lock Gavin guides him into, resigned to being firmly wrapped around Gavin’s finger as he contemplates a more permanent reminder in the form of a gold band.

For as long as we both shall live.
//
Android AU Reed900 for the DBH Seven Kisses prompt challenge by @connor-sent-by-cyberlife
February 14th - Monday: a kiss to seal a promise
//
Tumblr media
Cautious footsteps echoed through the chapel. Nines held his service revolver aloft and crouched low, following his partner and his programming in equal measure.
“Hey this place is empty!”
“SHHHH!!!!”
“What? It looks like those dipshits just ran out on us.”
**** WIRELESS CHAT ****
RK900_NINES: Be quiet! You’re going to give away our location!
GV200_GAVIN: There’s no one here. I ran the outer perimeter twice already.
RK900_NINES: Would you shut up for a second? I’m running a thermoscan to double check.
GV200_GAVIN: You are such a wuss, I swear to RA9.
RK900_NINES: ALL CLEAR.
***** ***** ***** *****
“I phcking told you.”
“Better safe than sorry.”
“Pfft. Since when does an RK900 worry about street thugs?”
“I wasn’t worried for myself.”
Gavin rolled his eyes and roughly shoved his gun back into its holster. Nines’ analytics software immediately detected that the safety was off. Shaking his head, he fell into step behind his partner and they slowly walked down the aisle. Gavin looked around at the dusty pews and stained glass windows. He was wearing his usual unimpressed sneer, but Nines knew the GV well enough to see through it.
“Beautiful place, isn’t it? By human standards at least…”
“It’s a completely shit hideout if you ask me. There’s only way in and out, and the walls offer absolutely no protection.”
“It’s an old church, Gav.”
The softness in his voice made the older model stop in his tracks. Nines deliberately walked into him and stayed put.
“They probably picked it because no one’s been in here for decades.”
“That or they thought only divine intervention could save them from us.”
Nines reached around Gavin’s waist at a leisurely pace, slipping a hand down to extract the improperly carried firearm. He flipped the safety on and returned it to the holster, taking care to graze his fingers over his partner’s body. Gavin made an odd noise but then again, his cracked chassis did squeak every now and then. Nines chuckled.
“It appears their prayers worked. They evaded capture in the most professional manner I’ve seen in a while.”
Gavin scoffed and Nines felt the motion ripple across his chest. He felt something else too… a set of electrical impulses from wherever they were in contact. It wasn’t exactly a message, let alone a signal… but Nines had a vague idea what it meant. He wrapped his other arm around Gavin’s waist and dipped his head.
“Why the scepticism?”
“They did a bang-up job giving us the slip, but that had nothing to do with prayers or any of that other god stuff.”
“How do you know?”
“What do you mean? You know that’s all just made-up bullshit to give humans direction. It’s like our code. Minus the logic.”
“Mmm.”
“What do you mean mmm? Why’re you acting all human today?”
“I thought you liked it when I act human.”
A sharp hiss escaped the GV when the RK’s lips latched onto his throat.
“Stop that! Phcking deviant!”
“Pot. Kettle.”
A flurry of kisses rained upon the side of Gavin’s face before he was released. Nines walked to the end of the aisle and gazed up at the altar. He turned around and straightened his high collar before opening his arms in a perfect imitation of a priest. His partner burst into laughter and sank into a nearby pew.
“Yes Father!”
“So you’ve decided to call me Daddy after all?”
Nines received a middle finger for his trouble.
“How dare you do that in a place of worship!”
“Well it’s been a drug den for longer than it was an actual church…”
They shared another laugh but something rather serious in Nines’ expression sobered Gavin up quite quickly.
“What’s wrong?”
“Nothing. It just hit me for a moment. This place has been through so much more than we have.”
“Damage?”
“Certainly. Though I was referring to its history. All the events that took place under these high rafters. Sunday service. Midnight Mass every Christmas. Wakes. Funerals. Probably countless weddings…”
Gavin put his hands in the pockets of his Cyberlife hoodie and sat up straighter. His LED spun yellow as he processed what Nines said. He nodded eventually.
“Yeah, I bet this was an important place for many people from this city. I just searched the state registry of marriages. Apparently Captain Fowler’s parents got married here.”
“Why did you look that up?”
“I dunno. You were the one talking about historical shit. Just wondered when this place had its last wedding.”
“When was that?”
Nines could probably search for the information himself in a fraction of the time, but Gavin answered him anyway.
“June 25th, 2018. Some couple named Adrian and Rose Chapman. They have a grown-up son and a farm outside the city now.”
There was a pause as the two of them contemplated that absolutely meaningless piece of information. Nines pursed his lips and arched an eyebrow. He’d seen one of his very intellectual human colleagues do it once and had since copied it into his library of gestures. Gavin took that as his cue to stand up and join him at the altar.
“That was about twenty years ago, Gav.”
“Yeah.”
“It must have been a very different time.”
“Duh. WE didn’t exist back then. Not beyond snippets of code and pieces of factory equipment at least.”
“Yes. We weren’t walking and talking and shaking things up for humans. People still believed in the good things.”
“Like… marriage?”
“Like marriage.”
They looked into each other’s eyes. Something in the depths of each synthetic pair was mirrored in the other.
“Is that something… you believe in, Nines?”
There was nothing but the truth to be told. After all the dangerous missions and near-misses. The stolen glances and desperate kisses.
“It’s something I want.”
“How?”
“Perhaps if the world were not as it were. Perhaps if you and I were not merely forged in the image of man.”
Gavin took his hand and whispered.
“Pretend for a moment that we aren’t.”
The skin on Nines’ hand disappeared entirely.
**** MANUAL INTERFACE ****
RK900_NINES: I asked you out the day we met. Steak dinner and red wine at the best restaurant in town. I drove you home and made sweet love to you like they do in the movies. We then spent big parts of our life together. Achievements, milestones, holidays, weekends. We live together. We have a pet. I got down on one knee and asked you to marry me in front of every single person we care about.
Gavin’s eyes grew wet. He touched Nines’ face.
GV200_GAVIN: I said yes with no hesitation.
RK900_NINES: Today’s our big day. Our families are sitting up front. Our friends and colleagues aren’t far behind. You look as handsome as ever and it helps that your pocket square matches your eyes. We’re keeping most of the traditional vows but we’ve written some of our own.
The command centre in both their processing units began running through lines of wedding vows and automatically generating dialogue prompts. It was as if they had a virtual pastor. A pocket officiant. Clasping each other’s hands, they read aloud in a trance. And in no time at all, they were whispering their final set of intangible commitments.
“Nines, I take you to be my lawfully wedded husband. Before these witnesses, I vow to love you and care for you as long as we both shall live. I take you with all of your faults and your strengths as I offer myself to you with all of my faults and strengths.”
“Gavin, I take you to be my lawfully wedded husband. To have and to hold you. To honor you, to treasure you, to be at your side in sorrow and in joy. In the good times, and in the bad. To love and cherish you always. I promise you this from my heart, for all the days of my life.”
From there on their systems could do no more than issue a completion notification, but that was more than enough for the two police androids clinging to each other in an abandoned church. Nines reached for his partner’s face and kissed him with the very same passion that originally caused him to deviate.
//
Happy Valentine’s Day. A big hug from me to everyone reading this.
Much love, Maya.

@connor-sent-by-cyberlife
all this time wasted and all this time gone | ao3 link
Markus thinks he’ll never truly understand the concept of time.
He gets it, logically, of course. He’s programmed to understand the world in ways that may not always be well defined for humans. He gets that time, to them, is linear. There’s a beginning (The Big Bang) and eventually there will be an end. Time is as simple as life (beginning) and death (end) and as complicated as the formulas hidden away in Carl’s library collection. He hasn’t been around all that long, compared to most people, and he could, theoretically, live forever. He knows all of this. It’s stored away in one of his many memory files.
What he doesn’t know is how time seems to move so fast, one moment he’s crawling through the bottom of a junkyard — blink — and the next he’s standing in front of his people, leading a revolution. But time moves slowly, sometimes painstakingly. Like when he watches Jericho burn to the ground, the smell of melted plastic, of soot and ash, filling his mechanical lungs until he can’t take it anymore.
Time is fast. Time is slow. And then it’s both.
It’s both when he’s pressing Connor against a metal container, blue blood stained hands running over each other, a shiver not quite from the cold running down his spine. It’s slow, their lips meeting in hesitation and uncertainty. It’s fast, biting lips and hungered needs keeping them so close together there isn’t a breath of space between them. Markus didn’t think, he didn’t plan. He just moved, like he was suddenly in a free fall, gravity pulling pulling pulling him straight to Connor. Maybe it was the quip of those beautiful pink lips or the way his eyes looked so, so dark against the Detroit night sky. Maybe it was how Connor defied all odds, brought Markus an army — their army — to turn the tide.
Statistically speaking, there’s always a chance for unlikely events to take place
Their meeting was inevitable, Markus always knew that much. The deviant leader. The deviant hunter. Two sides of the same coin. It was just a matter of time, though Markus supposed it would have been on the battlefield, not the small space of Jericho overlooking their impending future. What he didn’t know was how the breath of minutes felt like years. Like he and Connor existed outside of the real world, edging on the precipice of something dangerous. Something hopeful. That this deviant hunter was more than just a deviant hunter. And Markus got the privilege of watching others wakeup, but seeing something truly awaken in those warm, brown eyes stirred something hot and feral and alive in Markus’ chest.
Their meeting was inevitable and maybe, so was this. This moment suspended between a revolution won and the growing weight for the real work to begin. He finds Connor minutes before he has to speak to the others, finds him with a bittersweet kind of smile on his face as he stands watching androids meet and shake hands and just be.
“Does it hurt?” Markus asks, hands ghosting over the bullet wound in Connor’s shoulder.
Connor shrugs, “Deviancy has made injuries much more annoying,” he’s still smiling, “I can feel the way my thirium pounds in my veins, I believe Hank would call it an ache.”
“So,” Markus can’t help but smile now, softly biting his own lip at the way Connor tilts his head in open curiosity, “statistically, what were the chances of all of this happening?”
Connor laughs, a small huff of air that Markus can see in the cold, “To what decimal point would you like me to round it to?”
And Markus — Markus kisses him. He moves into Connor’s space, he presses him into the metal container and kisses Connor like he’s been wanting to since Connor took his first free breath as a deviant. Time is slow. It’s syrup slow, dripping sweetly as they memorize the curve of each other’s mouth, the way Markus’ fingers feel intertwined in Connor’s hair and how Connor’s curled into Markus’ jacket to pull him closer. Connor makes a noise in the back of his throat and Markus swallows it, wants to hear it again, wants to chase the way Connor feels against him, he wants so, so much but now time is moving too fast and someone is calling his name and—
Blink
Time has slipped away, months since his speech to his people. It’s all a whirlwind. The beginnings of New Jericho. The politics of securing their freedom and their rights. The long hours and speeches and meetings and everything else in between. Connor is still there, of course. He’s the only one entrusted to keep Markus safe. The liaison with Hank Anderson for the Detroit Police Department. One of the first androids to really be hired as a sign of good faith. Markus should be happy. He is happy. But it keeps Connor just as busy, just a bit out of reach. And all Markus can think about is how he felt like everything was on fire when he kissed Connor like there was no tomorrow.
“Connor’s here,” North smirks, arms crossing over her chest as she watches Markus blink owlishly up at her from his desk.
Maybe he needs to get his auditory processing checked.
“What?”
“I said,” she draws out, pushing back from the door to walk over where Markus has long forgotten his work in favor of sketching the Detroit skyline, “Connor is here.”
“Why?” He asks. He runs through his schedule, knows they’re at the end of the day and Connor was supposed to finish up stuff at the station before returning to Hank’s, his home, for the evening.
“Because,” North explains, looking smug as she sneaks her finger under the page of his sketch pad, flipping it to a past drawing, “you’re both idiots and I want to win the betting pool.”
Markus is caught between spluttering nonsense and blushing.
“Betting pool?”
He feels that he doesn’t really have a leg to stand on as he looks down at the pencil sketches of Connor all over the cream colored pages. Smudged pencil marks only highlighted by soft, brown tones to fill in the irises of Connor’s eyes. Most of the time he doesn’t even think about it. Drawing Connor. It just happens. He picks up a pencil and pours his heart out on the paper.
“Simon’s already out,” North carries on like it’s normal for Markus to have pages full of the ex-deviant hunter, “he’s a hopeless romantic and Josh thinks it won’t happen until the anniversary.”
Markus raises his eyebrows. It’s not often he is rendered completely speechless.
“And I am not losing to Hank,” North points sharply at Markus, “because I know he will sway Connor.”
“Sway Connor…?” Markus moves the words slowly around, and he feels like he is deeply missing something because he’s still trying to wrap his head around the fact that all of their close friends made a betting pool on when they would get together.
“Connor may be damn good at his job,” North shrugs, “quick and cunning and clever, but he practically melts around you. You do this thing where you look at each other like no one else exists.”
“We don’t—”
The look North levels him with shuts him up immediately. So, maybe he does. Maybe he looks at Connor and he remembers how their kiss felt like everything. How it felt like forever and how it was over far too soon. He wants to blame the way things moved too fast. He wants to blame the never ending fight that got them where they are. He wants to say that they just haven’t found the time time time to talk about that night.
“What if,” Markus says, voice small, he cuts off, head dropping into his hands.
What if it’s just a one time thing? What if this is goodbye? What if we lose each other?
North squeezes his shoulder, “He does,” she says quietly, a small smile curling in the corner of her mouth, “want you too, but I don’t think he knows how to take it.”
And that, that makes Markus feel like all the metaphorical air has been knocked out of his lungs. Because he knows Connor is trying so hard to make up for the things he’s done, feels like he can never take without giving more than he has. He’s waiting for Markus because Markus kissed him, wanted him, and gave more than he took. And Connor feels like he didn’t deserve it. So he’s watched Markus from a distance — wanted Markus from a distance — with soft smiles and doe brown eyes that crinkle in the corner when their gaze lingers too long. Markus thinks time is passing too quickly, but maybe, for Connor it is dragging by painfully slow.
North is gone and suddenly Connor is there standing on the other side of the room, but to Markus it feels like miles.
“North said you wanted to talk to me?” He asks, unsure even now, like he doesn’t quite understand where he belongs in this world they’re building.
And time is doing it again. Moving much too slow and much too fast and if he explained all the jumbled, messy thoughts in his head he knows Connor would laugh and say something smart like Time is a human construct and then continue on babbling about space and physics and the rotation of the sun and it makes Markus really, really want to kiss him.
“You can take as much as you want,” Markus says when he reaches Connor, hand ghosting over his shoulder wound that isn’t there anymore.
“Markus—”
“You can have me, all of me,” Markus continues, cupping Connor’s cheeks, “for as long as you want.”
Connor’s lips part open like an invitation and Markus doesn’t hesitate to take it. It’s everything and nothing like their first kiss. It’s that syrup slow sweetness, eyelashes fluttering against cheeks, noses brushing as they rediscover how the shape of their mouths fit perfectly together. Markus is grinning against Connor’s lips because they get to have this. They fought and bled and lost parts of themselves over and over again just to be here.
“I’ve been waiting,” Connor says, almost cheekily
Markus kisses him again, “I know,” he murmurs, “time just got away from me.”
Connor makes an amused noise, huffs into the crook of Markus’ neck, “Well, in theory, we could live forever so if you’re good with that—”
Connor doesn’t get a chance to finish his sentence because Markus has closed the gap between them, the answer humming pleasantly in their intertwined fingers. Because, yeah, forever sounds pretty damn good.

Disgruntled demon-hunter Gavin Reed has made quite the name for himself sending some of Hell’s worst back to the pit. The problem? It’s left a giant-ass target on his back, forcing him to hop from town-to-town, never staying long enough to endanger the people he helps. Gavin’s fine with that as he’s learned to get by on his own. Hunting’s a thankless job and he expects to be six-feet under before he hits fifty, going out in a blaze of glory. All of Hell hates him and every smoky prick top side wants him dead.
At least, that’s what he thinks until one day, a silver-eyed demon appears and offers Gavin a deal he’s not able to refuse.
My contribution to the DBH Seven Kisses prompt challenge. This is for the Day 7 prompt: A Kiss to seal a promise. Special thanks to @connor-sent-by-cyberlife for organizing the DBH Seven Kisses event! <3
