lucaaa 😭😭😭 gsjdhajd thank u for indulging me! i feel soooo stupid about this crush but. i have this internship in a rehabilitation base for marine animals and things there were a bit wonky because of internal issues. i work with this girl who used to be an intern too (we go to the same uni, same major) but now she's a full time employee. i was always VERY intimidated by her bc she's sooo fucking beautiful. and cool. and i feel like a potato around her so i never really talked to her much bc i thought she hated me 😭😭 but then, a few weeks ago when the issues started, she never outright said anything to me but she went to management and defended me and helped me a lot and im v thankful to her and our other coworker for helping me. and since ive always had this little crush on her, now that this happened im just. falling like a dumbass. and we've started talking a lot more too!!!! which i feel is only fair like i have to at least be civil w her after what she did for me 😭 but she's v nice and now i know how to work around her personality which was what made me a little terrified of her before. but i know nothing will ever happen bc we work together and i dont ever think she could reciprocate the feelings so i feel like a huge huge clown 😭😭😭 im a weak lesbian she's pretty and was nice to me and im already on one knee like come onnnn

Things don't have to have substance, bunch of straight shit has no substance and is still entertaining at the very least. BL should be allowed have masterpieces and... the direct opposite. Not everything has to be a work of art and it's fine for it to not be.

Not sure what the context for you hating KP is (I don't follow you and this showed up in the KP tag), but the actors can actually act and have great onscreen chemistry and that's why I personally enjoyed the show despite the flaws it has in addition to the Meta the fandom produced and the engagement the creative team allowed for the audience to have.

Can't say most of BL shows produced and their team + fandom can come up with the things the KP fandom has or had put in the effort/complexity the KP creative team has.

Most BLs have the most mediocre actors paired with the most lackluster scripts so, at least for me, it was a gem. Also, I'd been waiting for it for 2 years before it came out. *shrugs* It was different, it was mature, it stepped out of the university setting I was so mind numbingly tired of.

Sorry fandom ruined it for you. It was, for me, one of the most engaging fandoms since ITSAY and Not Me and for that, I personally liked it despite its various shortcomings.

hi anon! first of all! my main problem isn't that kp doesn't have substance per se. i agree wholeheartedly that bls should have amazing, complex, mind blowing shows but also allow room for more silly and turn-your-brain-off kinda series and everything in between. we as queer people deserve the same range of shows and reps as cishets get in their own television, but my issue with kp is that people keep acting like it was a revolutionary show. it was not! it could've been, for sure. i expected it to be, and i'll be honest and say i was completely let down by the end result because i, too, waited over 2 years for it to come out, i was really excited because i adore apo and the premise of the story seemed fantastic, but alas, amidst all the troubles this production went through, the final product did not survive and we ended up with a show much different from that very first 9 minute "teaser" that made us all enthralled in what apo and mile could offer.

to me, kp had so much potential to be a great, thought-provoking, mature show that completely deviated from everything we've been used to in thai bls, but what came of it was a contradictory plot with many many plotholes and characters that didn't make sense or added anything to the story. apo is a good actor, and so is mile, but none were phenomenal or oscar worthy as some of you try to make them out to be, and the rest of the cast was mediocre. the production crew had many issues too and the vp actors are two shitbags im not gonna waste my time on.

like. fine!!!! you can enjoy kp i don't mind!!!! just please stop putting it on this pedestal as if it was the best thing in the world. be realistic pls. it *is* exciting that it offered something totally new to the thai bl scene, yes, but that by itself doesn't grant it a gold star. the show *was* lackluster and we all know it could've been so much better had they followed that original teaser. or, hell, focused more on the actual story than on those saturated sex scenes.

as for the fandom. well. i have a lot of bones to pick with like 90% of the people who engage with kp content, but i do admit some beautiful fan work came out of it that deserves praise. but overall, a very much braindead fandom by the stuff i've come across. again, it's not like there was a lot to work with considering the changes they made to the plot (like the house porsche and his brother live in, which does not add up to the situation they are living in, when in the original teaser they lived in a very small apartment.) and most of the show was just a display of hot men that i was personally not interest in, but the lack of critical thinking and the will to overlook serious problems and situations for the sake of finding actors attractive was honestly baffling. when kinn >sexually assaulted< a drugged porsche, people thought it was cute. when vegas drugged porsche and attempted rape, he was a little meow meow. when vegas, again, kept being completely awful and disgusting with porsche and then proceeded to torture pete, it was a love story. when accusations came out that pete's actor had done terrible things, no one gave a shit because y'all are much more interested in seeing men fuck than in the wellbeing of those who he hurt. like wake the fuck up, what's wrong with you all? shows are allowed to be complex and problematic, my complaint is not that. i don't care that vegas is vile and that kinn is flawed, but i do care about how you people willingly excused their behaviours for vanity. i swear petev3gas girlies are the most repulsive people i've ever seen and i hate each and every one of them with a burning passion. it's fucking hilarious actually how many maaaaany of them are all very anti-th4rntype and m3w and "sexual violence is terrible!!!!" but were so very quick to turn the blindest of eyes to the countless awful things vegas did and have the fucking gall to root for petev3gas.

anyways. like kp if you want, but i'm sick and fucking tired of y'all holding the show to this high standard when many others are far better and more cohesive, with a much better message, characters and storylines. please develop some critical thinking skills that tiktok and twitter probably sucked out of your brains and learn to accept that not everything you like is a masterpiece and that's okay.

as for show recs, ive been out of the loop on everything bl this year bc im a uni student and i work two jobs, i don't really have the time and energy anymore so i might not be able to talk about more recent shows, but there's still a handful of good bls i can rec u!

one of my personal faves is theory of love because 1. i adore gun to the moon and back, he's a phenomenal actor and he did an amazing job in this series; 2. the story is great! friends to lovers with a lot of angst is just MWAH; 3. THE SOUNDTRACKKKK!!!! fake protagonist THE bl ost of all time!; 4. i loooove all the movie references in the show. all that said though, tol does have its fair share of issues (like poorly written female characters) but overall it still is a good show imo!

i dont think the bl sphere has many shows in the genres u mentioned but we have a couple of supernatural plots like he’s coming to me (dude meets this ghost and falls in love with him and the show is super cute and sad at times but if u think too much about it its creepy lmao), until we meet again (hhhh maybe not supernatural but the whole concept is soulmates and red threads of fate and it’s VERY angsty), the untamed (i personally never finished it helppp but its a very good show and it has a lot of ~magic~), the movie the blue hour which is IMMACULATE, its so good, its horror/thriller, it has gun and oab and its GAY ugh its really really good i love it so much AND ITS DIRECTED BY A TRANS WOMAN!!!!!!!!!!!!

other shows that i really enjoy but that are romcoms more than anything (with angst bc i looooove angst): gaya sa pelikula (filipino, probably the best bl of 2020, absolutely incredible), old fashion cupcake (jpn bl about two dudes who work together and deal with growing old, its v v good! established adults!), cherry magic (jpn bl, SO cute and wholesome, dude turns 30 but because he’s still a virgin he gains the power of reading people’s mind. doesnt make much sense but its def worth ur time!), 2gether/still2gether (a classic, a staple, the show that popularized thai bls worldwide. looking back its an ok show, nothing much, but it is very cute if u wanna turn ur brain off), we best love (taiwanese, ONLY SEASON ONE, i love this show so so so much it gave me such a huge brainrot)

now more heavy/sad shows: i told sunset about you (THE artsy bl we all needed, bkpp KINGS, storytelling 11/10, amazing), history3 trapped (one of my personal faves, again established adults god bless, dramatic and dynamic, main couple’s chemistry thru the roof, fifi!!!!), a tale of thousand stars (very angsty but also very beautiful)

the next two aren’t bls but i have to talk about them because they are great and i love themmmm. 3 will be free, deals with class disparity, has strong female leads, trans characters, bi characters, gay characters, polyamory, beautiful cinematography, def should watch! and the gifted/the gifted graduation. not gay bc it barely has any romantic storylines but very interesting concept, v v thriller-y and good acting!!! s2 disappointed but s1 is mwah and my url is from the gifted bc im a clown and pang and wave ARE gay and ARE in love and ARE dating thank u!

hi anon!! thanks for the info, i wasn't aware of the tv version but i did watch eps 4 and 5, tho i skipped that scene once i realised where it was going. i should re watch ep5 bc i skipped basically all of it looking for kinn to address what happened, but then i saw him being a fucking asshole to porsche who got DRUGGED because KINN told him he could have that one drink. porsche wasn't going to drink it because he didn't want to repeat a past mistake, so if anything, kinn should've at least had his back when his dad and other bodyguards complained about it. why put porsche through all that when he's already been through enough you know,,,,, but alas. though i am glad to hear it was finally addressed and apparently done well! i had just opened dramacool to watch episode 6 when i remembered your ask, so hopefully things are going to get better between kinn and porsche and maybe i'll keep watching the show!

hi! my issue with the cast right from the beginning was the age gap between the actors,, im already not a fan of age gaps in general but ive been following the manhwa for a while now and i know that jangchu eventually become friends with benefits so an 8 year difference didn't sit right with me at all. esp bc jae chan is only 20. in the story, sang woo and jae young are only 3 years apart,,, so i was veeeery reluctant of the drama adaptation bc of that, but since then ive read their interviews and the drama is only pg13, so it's fine ig? idk it's really more of a personal issue i have with age differences than something bad happening u kno

for sure! there’s still so many things i don’t know and many types of edit i wish to learn in the future. i still dont quite know my way around ps but i do want to learn how to make those beautiful transitions and texts and all the pizzazz some of the most beautiful set ive seen around here have! there’s always room for more knowledge and improvement!

48. what inspired you to start creating at first?

as an ex avid kpoppie, ive always admired gifmakers and my dream for a handful of years was to learn how to make gifs myself, but i didn’t have a device of my own where i could do that. when i got my laptop for uni, first thing i did was harass my friends to teach me how to gif 😭 jo is still my gif mentor and i always go to her whenever i cant figure smth out. also bc as annoying as ps and like/reblog ratios can be, giffing is something i enjoy doing and sometimes its even therapeutic, especially bc 90% of all sets i do are for myself first and foremost. whenever i couldn’t find a specific set i had in mind i was always “damn i wish i could gif to make that” and now i can!!!!! a win for dawns everywhere 💪

hello anon!! sorry to answer a day later, but i wanted to finish the drama so i can answer you with my opinion of the whole show.

i don't think there's any tea tbh, idk if you read my previous anon but the thing with the cast i mentioned is simply an issue i have with age gaps in casting in general; not everybody is bothered by it so it's my own personal issue with it rather than any drama involving the cast.

i was a huge semantic error fan and ive been waiting for this drama for more than a year now, but my expectations were never high because sang woo and jae young have a loooooooooong way to go until they actually get together, there's a lot of back and forth and i knew the drama wouldn't be able to go with that kind of storytelling with the limited time they had. i tried to watch it as someone who didn't read the manhwa and i do think the drama holds up on its own, you get the gist of jangchu even with the crazy fast pacing they went with, but one of the things that makes jangchu so good for me is that back and forth, so i was a bit disappointed about the way they structured the timeline, like bro just do a quick montage so we can get some sense of the passage of time, but instead they had jae young say he only pestered sang woo for four days??? like what 😭 it was at least a few weeks till sang woo understood his feelings and came after jae young :/// but besides that the drama is good, i liked the addition of yuna as a recurrent side character, since in the manhwa we only meet her past halfway and only when they are in the studio. i haven't read the book which inspired the manhwa, and they did say they only based the drama on the manhwa, but the france thing,,, idk how i feel about that and idk if that's how it went in the book, bc in the manhwa they just barely got together and s2 ended like 2 weeks ago, but yeah, that little drama in the end wasnt my fave.

ANYWAYS. we are all entitled to our own opinions, im sorry u didnt vibe with the drama, but as someone who already knew and loved those characters, i think the actors' portrayal of them Felt like them and in the end that's what matters, how well they can translate the characters to the show
