Can you name a more beautiful animal on land or water?
With their vibrant teal, red, and orange colors, candy darters are among the most spectacular fish in the water!
Candy darters are endangered but still found in the Gauley, Greenbrier, and New River watersheds of Virginia and West Virginia.
Candy darters are at risk from invasive species introduced by fishing, so anglers play a massive role in their conservation. You can help by never dumping live bait or moving fish from one body of water to another.
