WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD

It has been two years since I watched this show, and it just flashed in my head out of nowhere, while I was reading about the anatomy and physiology of the brain. Now that I think about it, why didn't I make a review of this movie earlier? After all, I loved it and I watched it several times more.

Okay, so here was the premise. There was this cheerful, talkative girl, Naruse Jun. She visited a castle-like love hotel and saw her dad and another woman there. In excitement, she told these sights to her mother, interpreting the situation as a fairy tale where her father is the prince, another woman is the princess, and the mother a witch. This resulted in the divorce of Jun's parents. Jun's father blamed her for it. After which, an egg approached Jun and cursed her by zipping her mouth and telling her that she was going to suffer when she talked. Many years later, Jun was a glum, mute girl in high school. Each time she spoke, she suffered from a stomachache. Along the way, however, their school hosted a musical. Jun could not talk, but she discovered that she could sing. She met three other characters, Sakagami Takumi, Tazaki Daiki, and Nito Natsuki, who also took part in the play. Now, these three people definitely changed her life forever.

First impression from the trailers? Definitely a tear-jerker. Reality? Well, the impressions are not exactly wrong. It was definitely a roller-coaster ride for me, not only because the movie was naturally a melodrama but because I related to it on a personal level. It was real. It did not shy away from exposing life's harsh realities, as well as adding elements of fantasy to them. It does not hesitate to bring to light the things that people would rather not talk about, and I love how the characters were able to say all the things that most of us were too scared to say. Parents separate. Their children get hurt and grow up broken in some way. People go through emotional turmoil. Lastly, people love but it does not mean that they will be loved in the same degree too.

Speaking of the last statement. Yes, I have problems with the ending. No, not in the way most people think. I think that Takumi rejecting Jun is perfect. It happens. Takumi choosing another girl instead? It happens. I was bummed for Jun, but when I look back in retrospect, Takumi did not actually show signs of being particularly attracted to her. He clearly cared for her, but his body language did not feel it. Many people criticize him for leading her on but honestly, I would do the same nice things he did to Jun to my guy friends, without me necessarily harboring feelings for them. Why? It was because they are my friends. Likewise, Takumi thought of Jun as his friend. He even accepted Jun and her feelings, because that is what friends do. Only, he did not return them.

What I don't understand is Daiki confessing to her. I am not saying that it was random, but their dynamic lacked development. I would be fine with this plot twist if Jun and Daiki had a little more screen time. No, I'm not saying I want a love triangle, either. I just wanted a more convincing execution of Daiki developing feelings for Jun, if that makes sense. Even if it is just in the way he looks at her, or his body language with her, it would be fine! Since this element was lacking in Daiki, I would much rather have nobody confess to Jun. She was going to be fine, whether somebody fell for her or not. Honestly.

Other than that, I actually love the movie. The cinematography is okay, but there are other things that caught my attention more. The soundtrack, for example. My bias is Tamago no Naka ni Wa, based on Around the World by Nat King Cole, mostly because I always loved the latter. Everyone in the main cast (except Nito Natsuki 😒) undergoes significant character development. While yes, it is obvious that Jun transformed the most, Tasaki also came to terms with his baseball issues and Takumi began to be more honest about what lied in his heart. I also love how the movie is clear about its theme, that words are powerful, double-edged weapons that can hurt or heal. Words caused Jun's parents to divorce. Words caused Jun to shy away from words, because they are unpredictable swords. Words also were the reasons why Jun finally found an outlet in expressing herself. Moreover, speaking involves more than just words. It involves the expression of the heart. For the most part of the movie, Jun barely spoke, but she was eager to express herself so much that her message eventually got across. She even got to actually speak again, and this is something which was beyond what she wanted. Also, Takumi, although he could speak normally, shied away from expressing his true sentiments for majority of the movie, and ironically, it was Jun who helped him speak.

Anthem Of The Heart

Jun Naruse es una pequeña niña que vive con sus padres en Chichibu, una localidad japonesa. Ella es muy extrovertida y le encantan los cuentos de princesa y de hadas, sobre todo aquellos que se desenvuelven en torno a castillos lujosos y de gran tamaño. Además la pequeña tiene la peculiaridad de ser una parlanchina en todo el extenso sentido de la palabra, el silencio no es una alternativa para ella y eso sin duda le llevará a un cambio radical en su vida y la de su familia. Las palabras sin medida pueden representar un gran peligro, Jun lo sabe y por ello llora desconsolada, pero un extraño ser con forma de huevo se aparece frente a ella, vaticinando que cada que ella hable vivirá infeliz, cuando las palabras surjan de su boca todo le saldrá mal. No obstante le tendrá una tajante solución: pondrá sobre ella una maldición que le prohibirá hablar ya que si lo hace un fuerte dolor de estómago aparecerá para evitar que continúe haciéndolo. El tiempo pasa y Jun ahora es una adolescente, acude a la escuela y lleva un vida aparentemente normal, buscando formas ingeniosas para comunicarse con los demás sin hablar. Pero un día, en clase de música el profesor organiza un evento donde el alumnado presentará un proyecto para la comunidad cercana. Para mala suerte de Jun, resulta elegida. La joven tendrá que enfrentarse a tan terrible maldición y hacer frente a las adversidades que le conllevan el expresarse mediante palabras, desde luego no podrá hacerlo sola, sino que lo hará gracias a sus amigos, familia y el increíble mundo de la música: arte que nos ayuda a dar rienda suelta a nuestras emociones y pensamientos.

Personajes principales:

Junio Naruse

Es el personaje principal de EL HIMNO DEL CORAZÓN.Sus palabras han sido sellada desde que era un niño, debido a su culpar a sí misma por su divorcio de los padres.Sus únicos medios de comunicación están enviando mensajes a través de su teléfono celular, y con el canto. Cualquier intento de hablar hace que ella tiene fuertes dolores de estómago.

Personalidad

En una edad joven, Jun fue muy hablador y alegre. Sin embargo, debido a su creencia de que ella era la causa de su divorcio de los padres, que creía que hablaba demasiado. Como resultado, apenas puede obligarse a hablar en absoluto, debido al miedo. Ella hace todo lo posible para evitar cualquier interacción con los demás, debido a su incapacidad para comunicarse correctamente. Sin embargo, ella anhela una manera de comunicar sus sentimientos. Su vida cambió cuando conoció a Takumi Sakagami . Ella cree que fue "mirar a escondidas en su corazón", y gracias a él, supo que podía comunicar sus sentimientos a través del canto. Con el tiempo, llegó poco a poco de su caparazón, y para el final de la película, fue capaz de comunicarse normalmente.

Apariencia

Junio Naruse es una niña de corta con el pelo negro corto y ojos grises. La mayoría de las veces, ella usa un seifuku que consiste en una tapa blanca de manga larga con cuello y botones de color gris, una camisa blanca debajo de un collar con lo que parece ser una mariposa de color gris claro en él, un arco gris alrededor del cuello, una falda larga blanco, un par de medias negras y un par de marrón uwabaki

Takumi Sakagami

es un personaje principal en el himno del Corazón .

Personalidad

Takumi es un chico tranquilo que hace todo lo posible para que nunca se destacan entre la multitud y vivir una vida sin ningún tipo de dificultades. Casi no habla lo que está en su mente y no interactúa mucho con sus compañeros de clase, además de sus pocos amigos. Sakagami cae en el hábito de no decir a los demás cómo se sentía de verdad, con el tiempo la creencia de que no había nada que quería decir a nadie. Hasta que conoció a junio que inspiró Hime a transmitir sus sentimientos. Su verdadera pasión es la música y desde muy joven ha estado aprendiendo a tocar el piano y apreciar los grandes maestros. Fue influenciado por primera vez por su padre, un amante de la música, ya pesar de que quiere dejar su pasado atrás su amor por la música aún está presente.

Apariencia

Takumi Sakagami es un chico con longitud media pelo castaño oscuro y ojos marrones. Se usa generalmente un gakuranque consiste en un top de manga larga negro con un collar y botones de oro, una camisa azul de manga larga en polvo por debajo, un par de pantalones negros y un par de zapatillas de color marrón centavo.

Natsuki Nito

Personalidad

Natsuki es una estudiante y miembro del club de animadora. Similar a sus compañeros de clase no son cosas en su mente que ella no habla. Ella está preocupada por el amor y no es lo suficientemente valiente para expresar lo que realmente siente. Los errores que hizo en el pasado todavía son inquietantes ella e incluso podrían afectar a su futuro,

Apariencia

Natsuki Nito es una chica con el pelo negro largo y ojos de color púrpura. La mayoría de las veces, ella usa un seifukuque consiste en una tapa blanca de manga larga con cuello y botones de color gris, una camisa blanca debajo de un collar con lo que parece ser una mariposa de color gris claro en él, un arco gris alrededor del cuello, una larga falda blanca, calcetines de color gris azulado hasta la rodilla y un par de marrón uwabaki .

Daiki Tazak

Personalidad

Daiki es un niño de mal genio que no controla bien sus reations, al principio, dice lo que piensa el junio del Naruse sin tener en cuenta sus sentimientos y hacerle daño, pero al final él se disculpa y le pide que trabajar junto con él y el otros. Él quiere volver al campo de béisbol, pero él está injuried y por esta razón por la que se demuestra que es frustrado y demasiado irascible, pero este punto débil desaparecerá junto con el desarrollo de sus sentimientos por Naruse (oculto hasta el final de la película ). También puede ser amigable y tiene un fuerte espíritu de equipo, que se muestra sobre todo cuando se mantiene después de la formación de su equipo de béisbol y cuando se disfraza como un huevo para el musical de su comité.

Apariencia

Daiki Tazaki es un chico con el pelo gris afeitada y ojos grises. Se usa generalmente un gakuran que consiste en una parte superior desabrochado de manga larga negro con un collar y botones de oro revelando una camiseta azul por debajo, un par de pantalones negros y un par de zapatillas de color marrón centavo. Debido a una lesión en el codo, el brazo de Daiki está en un cabestrillo para la mayoría de la película.
